just dont go!

i travelled with family and friends to marmaris in august/september 2011. i'm trying still to get over my disappointment. we were obliged to spend £600 EACH through thomas cook assured us to ignore the poor reviews on trip advisor etc. i am still awaiting recompense.
after a longer transfer 3 hours)than anticipated i could have cried when i saw that we'd arrived at a dump not the 4 star we'd been expecting.... 2 star maybe.
although i found the staff at this hotel excellent i wouldn't recommend your dog to stay in it never mind humans! i must stress that the rooms were kept clean and staff went out of their way to be helpful. they sorted out the multitude of problems that arose in this dreadful place. they are obliged to work 12-14 hours in the searing heat. (45 degrees and most unpleasant.)
the surroundings were shabby and tacky. the pool had grime around the sides. someone decided to poo in all 3 pools. the pool area was slippy and dangerous. the hot food was foul but the salads and fruit were lovely. however, there was little for children with no ice cream and infrequent servings of chips.
one of the worst experiences i had was to be trapped in the hotel lift with 4 others in 50 degrees and bad asthma all because the electrical generator failed. poorly lit spiral stair cases posed a problem for elderly guests.

entertainment was unbearably loud at the hotel and in the marmaris bars. in fact, you could not walk anywhere without being hassled to buy in each and every shop and restaurant. the beach was shingly and overcrowded yet picturesque. i just didn't feel safe generally.
if its too late and you've booked then go out on trips etc.take extra money for food cos you're gonna need it! be pleasant to staff cos it is not their fault.
to sum up, it was the worst hotel and resort i've ever been in although we did meet some lovely turkish, english and scottish people.

we have just got back from this hotel and didnt find it as bad as people made out, the staff were so friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them.the hotel was clean, the rooms were fine with clean towels & bedding every day,the cleaners even made different shapes with the clean towels every day so the kids thought it was great.we made lots of friends with the staff.the food was lovely if your willing to try turkish food, but we didnt starve there was something we cld eat.i was dissapointed there was no deserts as what we call deserts! no ice cream,we had a turkish bath at the hotel which was fantastic, the arcade/bowling ally was working out a little expensive with the kids in the evening.yes the hotel could do with agood painting but iv put that down to the end of season.all the staff work very long hours but always had a smile,we even had a photo shoot at the hotel which was fun! i would defo stay at this hotel again but maybe thats because i dont expect the ritz hotel when i go all inclusive to another country. ps I wish i cld of bought the hotel manager home with me!!!!!!

this was mine and my partners first vist to turkey i will admit i really wasnt looking forward to coming as of the reviews that had been left but when we arrived my feelings changed the front of house staff were very warming and friendly, our room was big and very clean we had a lovely view from our balcony the maids came and changed the bedding and towels daily i no this as on several ocasions i walked in as they were in the middle of cleaning,i was dreading going down for tea as im a fussy eater although it wasnt to my taste i never went hungry my partner really enjoyed the food there is alot of chicken on the menu...neither of us were ever ill during our weeks stay . The entertainment staff i cant say 1 bad word about them they are the most kindist friendlyist people you would ever meet (DAFFY) was my fav he made us feel so welcome and he was never without a smile on his face he always made us laugh they make the holiday in my eyes all of them work dam hard to keep us happy....but they do need to think of new ways to entertain us as it was alot of the same stuff all the kids i met there really looked like they were enjoying them selfs yet again down to the show guys doing all they can to invole them.. we would most certainly return next year with our 3 children just not in july as we found it very very hot some days reached 52 degrees and was just far 2 hot for us all in all very nice time was had....

Well after booking my holiday and reading the reviews i was dreading what i was about to experience, i even considered not going at all, but luckily i went nd thoroughly enjoyed myself. In total there were 13 of us out there and between us all we have no negative comments. FOOD: They say its chicken armar and it is chicken armar, because chicken is served everyday BUT always served differently, also i went on three trips (which werent booked at the hotel) and still had chicken for dinner on all three of them. Overall the food was lovely and you could never go hungry, You cant expect 5 star food at a 4 star hotel. It is also surrounded by bars and resturants which are lovely to eat at and very good prices. ROOMS: When we arrived we were greeted by lovely receptionists and luggage assistants who assited us to our room, which was BEAUTIFUL and very CLEAN, it was also cleaned thoroughly on a daily basis. STAFF: the staff here work very long hours but are constantly smiling and always happy to take your orders. The entertainment team are also very energetic and will do there upmost to get you involved and up having a good time. POOLS: yes pools there are 2 big pools 2 childrens pools and a pool at the bottom of three slides.Around the pool area are alot of sunbeds and you never struggle to find one, there is also tables with umbrella's in the bar area. The pools were always clean!
In the hotel you could not ask for more, you can have, turkish bath,a game of bowling, a mini arcade, a gym, you will never be bored. There is also a minibar out the front (but you have to buy your drinks there as their imports) which stays open all hours. I have been to 5 star luxury hotels and yet club armar is at the top of my list, ive booked my stay for next year already and i only got home this morning!

  • Advice: Go over the road for a full english breakfast costing you just 99p! As they say in turkey "cheaper than chips"

Hotel Armargeddon

Where should I start? We arrived at Hotel Armar at around 4 a.m. It took about an hour to the non-English, non-French, non-Dutch, non-Russian speaking single receptionist to proceed to the room allocation.
The room although very basic, seemed rather clean. The air conditioning hadn’t been running for the whole day, so it was a bit of an inferno with more then 40°c in the bedroom.
We missed the breakfast as we slept a bit after arriving so late, so lunch was our first shot at the “all inclusive” feature of hotel Armar. Here starts the calamitous part of the tale.
I’ve been almost three weeks in a hospital this year. I’ve been to Russia when it was still communist, I’ve been to Austria. And I never have had such a nauseating food in all my life and travels. The worse is yet to come. There weren’t any chance for improvement as every single day, at noon and in the evening; it was again and again exactly the same puke like banquet.
I won’t mention the bar near the pool. Lukewarm and sour beer. No ice. Alcohols tasted like dish soap, not to mention the ghastly cocktails.
Hotel Armar is more of a scam then an all inclusive inn. If you want to survive, you will spend money outside of the hotel to get decent food and drink.
And yet there is more to say. The place is supposed to be a four star hotel and is infected with the dregs of humanity. I had to call the security no less then 3 times in ten nights because drunken tattooed thugs were battering wife and children in the rooms next door at 4 a.m.
The so called security seemed as talentless as their cook, as the pandemonium went on and on until the muezzin started yelling at 5 a.m.
As I turn back home, after some inquiry, I find out that the BBC show “The Secret Tourist” (second episode) found some fecal matter in the hotel’s food.
Finally, I’m pleased to return home unhurt and healthy.

holiday from hell, that nearly killed my son.

I really dont know where to begin,we went here in june 2010 and weve been to turkey many times befor,so we knew what to expect. When we arrived the hotel looked ok,when we went to our rooms they wer'nt clean ,old furniture, beds with two legs and very basic. This didnt put me off even though its described as a 4 star as in turkey this is what you get most of the time. The food was horrible so we ate out most of the time,no hot water ater two in the afternoon so showers freezing the cups were filthy and that doesnt really describe them. One man had a cigaret butt stuck to the bottom when he got his drink. My frind who went with us asked for a fresh orange and when drinking it seen something on the top of it,well it was only live maggotts and she had drunk some of them, the hotel offered her a drink and meal on the house. As if that was any good she wasnt the same after that.We just made do as really there was nothing you could do.The last day of the holiday my son took ill,he just had viral like syptoms but when we got home the next day things changed serverly. He wouldnt eat as he felt so bad and then on the afternoon he had a few blisters in his mouth,we wernt sure what they were but that night his whole mouth was covered inside. They filled with blood then went to infected puss and he was so poorly he couldnt even swallow his own saliva. And he vomited repeatedly.Next day he was taken to hospital by ambulance and he stayed there for one week very poorly. He had servere herpies to the mouth ,throat and food pipes caused by the lack of chemicls in the pool or the filthy cups. For one week he went to hell and back he repetedly coughed up blood,he was on many differnt antibiotics as he wouldnt respond and for days couldnt swallow his own saliver as it was pure infection and blood. He lost over a stone in weight and never ate or drunk in a week.At one point i thought it could go either way for him.Well hes recovered now and its took some time, but the worst thing is this hotel last month was on undercover tourist for the problems it had,NO chemicals at all in the pool.phoo found in the drinkling water and pool and the food wasnt up to temprature waiting to poisen someone and the list goes on and on.Dont go here and risk someones health it isnt worth it,the tv program went back in june just befor we went and the hotel had done nothing.Sorry this is so long but had to tell people what to expect befor they go.

After reading all the reviews on this hotel i was expecting so it to be a holiday from hell but it wasnt anything like some of the reports that i had read. First of all i just want a to say i have visited Marmaris for the last 10 years and have worked as a travel agent for 12 years. I have stayed in many hotels in this area and all i was looking for this time was a good value all inclusive hotel for me my husband and 2 children. The hotel provided this and much more. The rooms were quite basic but were enormous, they were cleaned every day, clean towels and free air conditioning !! a charge usually in marmaris hotels for air conditioning is around £25 per week. The food was absoloutely fine although there could of been a bit more choice for the kids. Free kids clubs were provided for 5 hours each day and there was a disco and entertainment for the family in the evenings. The staff were nothing but helpful. What more can people want for the money they have payed to stay here... If you want a an all inclusive hotel that does nothing but english food and beer then dont stay here... stay in England !!! This is a great value hotel where i would definately take my family back to again.

just come back from turkey.we went with an open mind after reading the good and the bad reviews about the hotel. the hotel very busy and hectic we got put in a room three floors overlooking the pool and the one bar which caters for everybody in the hotel. so you can imagine what it was like constant noise starting from 8 in the morning till the early hours of the morning. Also this was where all the entertainment was. There was no lift so we had to carry our suitcases up the stairs with some assistance from one member of staff! The room was just basic the shower didn't work properly the cold water wasn't coming out as it should, so didn't have a shower due to risk of scalding and wash our hair in the sink. It took the hotel three days to finally sort it out, after realising that the shower head needed replacing. But still wasn't brilliant. When we asked for our towels to be replaced we was given one towel! You was given one toilet roll. The restaurant was upstairs, the food monotonous chicken everyday! All my family suffered with a bad stomach. Mine lasted a couple of days and I had to stop in the room because I was really ill. There was alot of people who where ill with bad stomachs. The coffee machine broke down and it took a day to get it repaired they run out of cutlery. The bar around the pool catered for everybody in the hotel you where forever queueing up. It was far worse in the evening because you could only get two drinks at a time!!! Around the pool some of the brick work needs repairing and upgrading some of the trims on the tiling were broke and sticking up.I reported this to the manager but nothing was done about it. On the last couple of days people arrived and the hotel didn't have any room for them they where put in another hotel with no air conditioning. People were getting very hyrate!!! On the last day the hotel was fully booked and there was'nt any room in the restaurant!!!

as others we read the reviews and thought cant be that bad.but it is we loved the resort people we met.but staying here the food is crap same old thing day in day out .when sitting on loo if you look up you can see a void pipes cables dust falling down when in shower you get the feeling you are being watched .we done a few excursions which were great the jeep safari and quad safari great but dusty.so when come back to hotel stay dirty or you charged 50tl for any marks on towels, which are bright white they know people do these trips out and get dirty so you would think they would put some darker towels in just for showering.just another way to make money.all inclusive but trying to get served at bar was a nightmare one serving when you did it was in a plastic half glass.our son 13 couldnt get served at all staff just ignored him.very first day we lost a suit case and they didnt care at all we had to spend spending money to replace beach wear we lost and they didnt care at all.as for games room and indoor pool dont be fooled these will all cost you extra.wish we had went half board because lovely restaurants doing full english and other good grub very cheap.;;dont stay here;;;

Just returned from this hotel on 1st June 2010, we found that the hotel room was quite clean and was reasonably furnished (no complaints in that department) food was ok the 1st week but then it was still quiet, the 2nd week more people arrived and the food got worse on a daily basis to the extent that we ate out the last 6 nights. Most of the staff were very polite and friendly, except 1 of the Managers we complained to was not very nice after we complained that the vodka appeared not to be vodka but turkish tap water which made it even worse as it made me have a bad stomach. So if you are on a tight budget and want to drink vodka in the evening, either take a bottle of your own or don't go

I read all the reviews before I left the Uk which totally terrified me. I am used to staying in 4 plus star hotels in UK, i have had xmas dinner the past 3 years at Hyatt and have stayed there numerous times and was concerned about what i read.
I arrived at Armar Hotel, Hotel looked great, it was clean and staff friendly. For a four star hotel in a 3rd world country I have to stay I had a great time and enjoyed my room, enjoyed the food, the staff were fantastic and have never received this at any other hotel. I have been to Marmaris twice, my friend has been to marmaris 8 times and if any hotel i would recommend it is the Armar. To receieve four star treatment in a four star hotel and at very good cost I cannot believe how people can complain. If people think they can get extremely drunk, shout abuse and get away with it no they should not and im glad at times like this the staff got involved to stop other holiday makers getting disturbed......... Oh my down fall of my holiday was Thomas Cook!!!!
