Dont understand some of the reviews that have been sent before. The complex was fantastic, staff were always helpful. Unfair people have scored so badly just because they are up a steep hill or their prices in the shop are slightly more then the main supermarkets. Yes... more

Just returned from a fantastic fortnight at the Liberatos Village, glad we never saw any of the reviews before we left otherwise would have seriously been put off. We were a little dubious when we were taken to the hotel and saw the hill but the view from our apartment was... more

Lovley place, nice pool, beautiful views but the hill up to libertos village is a joke, 15 minute hard walk but you can get a mini cab up and down the hill but it will cost you 5 Euros each way which twice a day can add up to a lot at the end of the holiday. The shop... more

Where do I start ? basic rooms with an overpriced bar and supermarket situated up the steepest hill this side of Everest you will ever have to try and climb. An owner who was surly and unco-operative to start off but finished up the villian of the piece. The strategy was... more

We did have a brilliant holiday. Hill no problem although we are a fairly fit family. However, the Liberatos is sadly lacking in customer care. The supermarket was always unmanned so you had to wait around to be served. The staff don't seem interested in their customers... more

Liberatos Village is up a steep hill, (there are many steep hills in Kephalonia!). The studio apartment was clean and basic. On the night of the BBQ, music was played until 1 a.m so no sleep before that. Music could be heard from the pool bar in the evenings so if you want... more

Good
Exactly what we needed for a one week break. Appartment clean and good size, pool brilliant.
Very disappointing
I stayed only a few hours in October 2004 - I have now posted some photo's very similar to the ones posted by the couple from Harrogate a year later, which shows that no improvements have been made. The place is substandard and there is no consistency in quality. The website photo's are misleading so my advice is if you've already booked to be very specific about the type of accommodation you'll get & even more importantly the block - get an apt/studio as near to the pool as possible as these looked better. Kefalonia is beautiful & Lassi & Argostoli are wonderful places to explore and we had a fabulous holiday once we'd moved to Mouikis Village at Lakithra & would revisit the island in a minute. Thomas Cook took a lot of money for this 1* type property & the owners seemed happy to let the properties in such poor condition having had their share. Advice also to the lady who suggests that Greek properties are basic and that we should have bought a travel kettle - this is not value for money, the place you're staying in should be equipped to the correct standard it's described as - you wouldn't expect to buy a bed because they have different standards there. Clean & basic is fine by me as a lot of time is spent outdoors, but filthy, unsafe and ill equipped is not acceptable.
Outside nice, inside not as good
My boyfried and I stayed here for 1 week at the start of September. These apartments are in a great location up a steep hill but no problem for us, with a view to the sea and a nice pool area. From the outside they look great but once we got inside we were really dissapointed. The bathroom and the rest of the studio had not been properly cleaned, I could of done a lot better job myself. As in other reviews we also had wires sticking out of the wall and also a broken light. There were two single beds which was not much of a problem apart from when we put them together they were actually two completly different beds of different heights! great! also there was no air con fair enough, but not even a fan! I have been backpacking round south east asia and every beach hut I stayed in at least provided a fan! We arrived at night and went to complain but the manager was not friendly at all and told us to see our rep. The next morning we complained to our Kosmar rep, who told us he would try to change our room but if not he would sort out two beds of the same height for our room, and he would come and see us later. Needless to say we never saw that rep again. As we didn't want this to dominte our holiday we just let it go, spend all our time out of the studio anyway, and when we did have to go back for a shower and to get changed at night we just made it quick! Kefalonia is a great island we hired a car saw most of the island which is beautiful, and spent most of our nights in Agosstoli which is only 5 mins away in a taxi. I would definatley reccomend the island but not the studios here, they remided me of the type of accomodation you stay in on a 18-30's type holiday!
loved the place!
I absolutely love this place and have been 2 years on the run. We would definately go again - infact 12 months wait is too long. The pool / bar area is beautiful - not what you expect in Greece as the accomodation is always basic and you are lucky if you get a pool let alone a bar, showers and a supermarket. The supermarket and bar may be slightly more expensive than others but it is certainly notv a rip off and you are paying for the convenience and the atmosphere. As regards music til 12 at night this was not a problem for us. Number 1 we were on holiday so enjoyed chatting around the bar with other holiday makers and secondly we have stayed nin studios near the bar and an apartment 50 metres away and never been kept awake by loud music etc in all the times we have been. the staff are super - polite and accomodating. The accomodation. Its fair to say that by greek standards this place comes high!. The studios are more basic than the apartments but then again they are evry cheap. The apartments are beautiful. there is a website where you can see the quality for yourself. new, clean, bath! I an highly recommend this place - the hill will not bother you, taxis at the bottom cost next to nothing - your on holiday relax and wnjoy yourself.
Great Apartments and amazing Views
Just arrived back from the Liberatos village and I thought it was really nice I was worried after the previous reviews but we had no problems at all - the staff very friendly and the owner George and all the bar staff were very nice and couldn't do enough for you. We stayed in block G which when we got there on the frist night we couldn't find it because it was pitch black and little far away so we were a bit aprehensive but when we woke up the next morning and looked out the patio doors the view was amazing all you could see was the sea and loads of greenery and there was not traffic noise at all it was so peaceful. The food is excellant we used to have our breakfast and lunch around the pool as the bank was a bit much for us because we are lazy and the hill was massive and i mean massive. We went into Argosoli most nights and it was really nice the food is amazing we had some of our best meals in argostoli would try The Captians Table very nice food. We will be going back maybe next year.
Not What We Had In Mind!
We booked our trip to Kefalonia, after doing lots of research on the islands and the resort towns themselves. The studio was alright, but very basic. Seeing as we paid quite a bit (this was still Early June and kids were still in school, and it was still on the high side of what we would pay for a holiday), we were hoping for more. *The "kitchen" is horribly basic. Not only is there no kettle, it's almost impossible to boil water. Even when you do get it boiled, the cups they provide are about as big as children's tea party cups. The cooker is inadequate for making the simplest meals, so we had to eat out most of the time. *There were NO cleaning materials left behind for guests to use. This seems logical to me, to leave at least a sponge and a tea towel for people to use. A broom and dustpan would have been helpful, too, after tracking sand in. Especially since the room was tidied once while we were there. *There were NO cleaning materials left behind- but, they were conveniently on sale at the convenience shop. Incidentally, items purchased there were twice as much as it was down in Lassi. *The bathroom was a joke. We had nothing to hang our shower hose on, so we had to have little birdbaths, or, take turns holding the hose for each other. We chose the former. Maybe you'll get lucky, and have a real shower like our friends- who had very poor water pressure. The bathroom wasn't cleaned, but, luckily, they took the bins full of fouled TP. *Wires sticking out of walls, ceilings, floors... *No Air Conditioning: This was actually okay, because it was quite cool for June. *No TV. Not like you go on holiday to watch telly, but what happens if it rains? Sometimes you like some music or talking in the background. It just seemed weird not to have a telly there. *No phone. I thought this was a basic thing to include in a hotel room, but I guess I'm wrong. Just like with the TV. *Despite not having a TV or phone, there were aerial and phone sockets. Yeah. I take my 35' flat panel and my phone with me whenever I go on holiday. The resort seemed to be half couples, and half families. The surroundings ARE stunning, it's up a big hill, and the views are amazing. The insides of the rooms are a let-down, unfortunately, they remind me of something for kids on "cheap and cheerful" holidays- and we paid too much for it to be cheap, and we certainly weren't cheerful after our stay there. Just to make a perfect end to an imperfect holiday, the last shower on our last morning was STONE cold.
It was great - we're going back in September
I travelled with my family in Early May with Kosmar Holidays to The Libaratos Village. Kosmar holidays was a great and friendly Tour Operator and their representative was very friendly. We were recommened by some friends. Kosmars' brochure description of the Libaratos Village was spot on. The accommodation was very clean and it had everything we needed for a 1 week self catering holiday. The area around the pool was cleaned daily and the owners couldn't do any more to help us, they always had a smile on their faces. We liked it so much that we came back and booked to go again with Kosmar Holidays in September. I don't know why the others have said such bad things about the Libaratos Village. If you've travelled to Greece before on a self catering holiday, then you should know that all accommodations are basic but very clean. All the showers in Greece do not have a shower curtains, and if they do then it's a bonus. As for a kettle, they all provide pans to boil water. If you desparately want your own kettle then you can pick up a travel kettle for next to nothing from any high street shop. All I can say is well done Kosmar Holidays and Libaratos Village for looking after us.
Awful place - terribly disappointing
My partner & I had a week on Kefalonia in October 2004. We booked Liberatos Village after a lot of research into Lassi & it's accommodation. Our first day was ruined as the apartment we were given was dreadful, extremely basic & appallingly dirty and badly maintained with unsafe electrics. We did not even have a kettle & this was a self catering apartment! This was in L block far from the main complex & pool, and backed on to a boiler house. We requested to be moved to another apartment but the owner was so rude & aggressive once we complained, that we refused to stay even 1 night & so we were eventually moved to Mouikis Village near Lakithra. Mouikis was a lovely complex with great staff & excellent cleanliness but sadly not in the resort we booked and was a long way from Lassi & Argostoli. From reading the website entries at "Just Kefalonia" (more please from couples & families on the standard of accommodation rather than the appeal of the bar staff) then I can only conclude that the standards are sadly inconsistent. We won't gamble with our hard earned money & holiday time & will book differently next time. On the upside we will certainly return to the beautiful island of Kefalonia. I wish you all great holidays in future.
Okay....
Stayed here June 2002 around a year after the new blocks were built. We had a nice clean studio overlooking the pool which had a large balcony. Major problem was the typically Greek shower-just the base and no curtain so every time you used the shower the whole bathroom got soaked. Also-a lot of cats, some of which were heavily pregnant, therefore enticing you to feed them (as they looked so thin) then they would bite you! No air conditioning. This was a huge problem especially at night when it was too hot to not open the windows but too noisy (from the bar-speak about that next) to leave them open all the time. Fans could be hired but extortionate prices were demanded for these. Now, that bar. It is open from around 10am and it closes when the last person leaves. Most nights this was around 2am. Loud music blared out most nights too and it was'nt until I had a word with the rep that the bar turned the music down...(but not off) at 1am. Even so, the drunks would be laughing and shouting for hours after. One night the bar closed quite early (around 12 midnight) and I thought I could maybe get some sleep..open the windows and let some air into the horrendously hot room. Oh no! A big dog from the owners home up the hill starts barking and growling loudly...for 40 minutes. Then one of the owners sons came up on his loud motorcycle at 3am. Put it this way we did'nt sleep much-as usual. After our 14 night holiday we came home tired and restless and in need of another holiday! We are not middle aged moaners-we're in our early twenties but even we wanted to sleep at night. Kefalonia is a beautiful island and the main resort of Lassi (where these apartments are situated) is lovely with a good selection of bars and eateries and beautiful beaches. If you don't mind a good 25 min walk uphill from the resort centre then these apartments are in a reasonable location commanding views to the sea from their elevated position. Be prepared to walk downhill into Lassi for groceries...or be charged horrendous prices for basic items such as bread, milk and water from the on-site supermarket. It may be worth booking a 1 or 2 bedroomed apartment if you don't like noise. These blocks were situated further up the hill well away from the pool and bar area and they were a little older but much quieter at night. Thomas Cook are currently booking these I believe. Kosmar have allocation on the studios and these are the newer blocks facing the pool and bar area.
o call this a quiet location????
We went here for my 50th birhday. We chose the Liberatos because it claimed to be in a quiet location. That may have been the case, but we were kept awake until at least 2am every night with mudisc and noise from the bar. The owner/manager used to play loud music until all hours and allowed people to make as much noise as they wished, as long as they were buying drinks. When we protested to the owner, we were met with a barrage of abuse - a really unpleasant character. Maybe we were just unlucky that we booked the same week as a crowd who just wanted to party every night but the owner certainly did nothing to discourage them - the bar and shop were extortionately priced. The accomodation was mildewed and run down. The bathroom was dirty to the extent of unusable (faecal stains in the toilet) and we had to go down town to buy cleaning materials and clean it before we could bear to use it.
