our daughter and her partner booked a 2week holiday at this hotel with our 22 month old grandson, on arrival they were handed a key and told to go to there room ,yet the germans were given a full tour of the hotel and shown to their rooms.they then settled in for the night and our grandson went to sleep. At 11.30pm were woken by loud music and plate smashing, there room was directly above an indoor disco. The baby was screaming and frightend and they could not calm him down. AT midnight all of them went to reception to complain to the management and asked for another room all the management team were rude unhelpful and told them they had no other rooms and to go back to the one they had been given, also no cosmos rep available to help. With the music still loud and the room vibrating they packed there cases and at 12.30pm were stressed, crying walking the village of messongi.they are now on day 5 of their holiday and staying in a villa,on day 2 got to see the cosmos rep who could do nothing to help but arrange a meeting on day 5 to write out a complaints form and tell them they would be charged for the first 3 days at the hotel. this has ruined there 2 week holiday as they now have very little spending money as they now have to pay for meals and the villa. please note this hotel is clearly anti british and all for the germans

I just come back from a week at Messonghi beach. Yes there are alot of Germans and French around the resort but you cant expect to go to a foreign country without bumping into foreigners.
The animation/ entertainment team were fantastic, very funny and friendly and did activities throughout the day (aqua gym, aerobics, football, volleyball, ping pong etc), shows in the evening and in the club at the night.
The breakfast, yes it was very basic and probably the only bad thing about the hotel.
The tea was better and usually served up greek dishes, and rice, pasta, bolognaise and chips. All self service.
The hotel is right on the sea front.
The reception staff seemed abit off on the first day but after that they were friendly and polite. I had read many reviews before i went that the reception staff were rude but that wasnt my experience.
There isnt a great deal to do in the resort once u were out of the hotel but there is a bis stop outside where u can go out for the evening. lots of local tavernas around the area and a supermarket across the road.
All in all i really enjoyed the holiday. I personally think the animation/ entertainment team made the hotel. Although non of them were english they spoke English very well and were very welcoming, funny and polite.

My wife and I have just been to the Messonghi Beach Hotel in Corfu for 2 weeks and what a splended Hotel and Complex this place is. This complex is huge and right on the waters edge with its own beach. There is something for everyone to do, from entertaining the children to keep fit in the morning, football, tennis, basketball 4 swimming pools, gymnasium pool tables space invader type machines and much more. There are 2 bars inside and a pool bar that serves food. There is a train that goes around the site so you don't need to walk too far to get to any one place. The Hotel itself is very clean and all the smartly dressed staff are always on hand to help you, from the chambermaids right up to the Manager himself a Mr Dimitrois Marinos. There are about 4 restaurants which serve excellent food with a very nice choice of hot and cold dishes on a self serve basis. As the complex faces East a lot of the rooms face the sea and the greek mainland is very visible all the time. The rooms are tastley decorated with greek style beds 2 tables with lamps on them and either a bath or shower and there is a writing table with a stool and one chair as well. Each room has a good size balcony with 2 chairs and a table. The views towards the sea is exceptional and on most days huge cruise liners can be seen. There is a shop on site for a lot of one's needs but at the end of the drive there are many shops and restaurants. This is a wonderful complex and we would recomend it to anyone. I am 64 years old and my wife is 58 years old and having hired a car to get around we have had a superb Holiday.

the hotel managers were anti brit racist,as they made it quite clear.the food was attrocious,we spent most of our holiday money on food outside of the resort as the food wasnt fit to eat.every brit that went and some are still their cant stand it as it isnt what they specify it is in the brochure,as for laura the rep it was If you saw her.We told her of the situation but all you got from her was a shrug and it aint my problem for example(a young couple from plymouth had got a little girl of about two years old and the mother was two months pregnant they complained of ants and other bugs in their room told laura and management, they said fine and moved them into a room with bunkbeds which wasnt suitable for such a young child, so they asked for another room with a single bed and they said they hadnt got one so they had to have that one until one came up,we heard of this so we offered to swop rooms as we had a single bed in our room ,but management wouldnt allow that to happen,so in the end they preferred to make the couples life misserable, the management {all three}got abrupt with the father of the child and shouted him to shut up or they were going to kick them all out.the management then realised he was in the wrong and offered them another room. Then just for spite he had the electric disconnected descretely,so when they went to get it sorted the management said that there is nothing wrong with the electric so the young couple got Laura the rep and shown her and she admitted that no electric was going to that apartment,so she told the management which eventually sent an electrician to sort it and all he did was pull the box out off the wall showing all the wires then accused the occupant of doing it himself and threatened to kick him out again. He then asked if he had got any witnesses to prove that he didnt do it and the occupant said yes, thats when the management said what british the occupant said yes,the management then said thats tipicle as you brits all stick together. That was just one incident, then we had our own incident when we went to the hotels bar we got our first round of drinks ok then when we went for our second round we must have been waiting for at least ten minutes waiting to be served and it wasnt as if the barman was run off his feet with customers,we was even waving our money to get his attention but he still carried on serving everybody else,at that point we were getting peeved so the other half went and got hold of a manager and told him and the manager then served us but nothing was mentioned to the barman. Then after we had drank that round a friend then attempted to buy a round and the same thing happened again,so the same management served us yet again. We went on excursions through the Reps and on a couple of them their were no reps and when we did get reps they took us to our destination as said we are here now so we will see you in a couple hours back here. The best excursions that we had that wasnt expensive were the ones that we organised ourselves,we were glad to get back home and we will not be going again. We are dissapointed with thomas cook.

Has taken me nearly six months to come on this site and write a review, as I still feel quite traumatised and wish to forget the whole experience. Went for a week to this dreadful complex, with my partner and my 11 year old son.
Arrived in the middle of the night, after a horrendous journey through Corfu with a maniac bus driver, who constantly was chatting on his mobile phone. First impressions was that it was quite a nice complex, with extensive gardens, but remember it was the middle of the night and we were feeling disorientated after the (mini) bus journey from hell! Our apartment was not too bad, although was infested with mosquitoes.
Food mostly catered for Germans and French, in fact there is different restaurants for us Brits, ours serving sludge! needless to say we adopted German nationality and a German accent so we could eat some decent food in the German restaurant, that was when we could get passed the Camp Commandant (aka the Head Waiter).
Went on hotels rep trip to Corfu town (do I really want to remember this).... bus was over an hour late and in the heat of the afternoon was unbearable waiting on it. Had three enforced stops with encounters with other buses and cars. George the driver was not the most customer friendly driver. The copilot Irene tried to help calm him down, but only made him angrier. Olympus rep was a young blonde girl and was nearly in tears, her favourite saying was "awesome". George managed somehow to steer the bus with his knees, whilst holding his mobile and shouting at other cars and buses. Total shambles, arrived back to hotel at 11.30pm, shattered.
Whole complex smelt of raw sewage, overpriced drinks, tacky accomodation, rude and unhelpful staff especially in reception.
Highlight of my holiday! brought back a karaoke certificate from Ozzy O's Bar (the only good night we had), now framed and in my downstairs loo!

Stayed in the twins, beach and pool view, air con a must, fridge, balcony cleaned every day.
Food Basic but plenty once you get passed French, Italian and German getting their 10th plate full. Never used the pool, Germans towels out by 7.30 made sure we got our sun bed on the beach with our towels early under the thatch shade. Hotel staff really friendly always somebody about to help if you need them, Dr Balis used by us Private Doctor nothing terrible but really nice man, shame the holiday insurance back home crap.
Went on a brilliant boat trip, go with Nick the Greek Travel just in the river mouth, good price, his wife Leah is on the Beach she's from London not pushy like the Germans.
Never been to Corfu before I think we were lucky with our room etc. Hotel could do with a little refurb, ask before you book. Used the local bus to Corfu Town really easy at the end of road. Dont bother with Kavos (stinking dump). Entertainment Ok, mainly for the Germans and French but Ok bit the same every week, would we go back - YES.

Me and my boyfriend have recently come back from Messonghi Beach Hotel and have to say we loved every minute of it. We are a young couple and made friends with people very easily and found the Greeks to be incredibly welcoming and they helped make the holiday for us. I read a lot of bad reviews for the hotel shortly after I booked the holiday and did discuss cancelling it, fortunately we thought we'd go anyway and see for ourselves. We are so glad that we did because a lot of what we read was bull!!
The maids came every day, the food was gorgeous and had a different spread every day and it was mainly English people where we ate as the different countries are separated. The only complaint we really had was that we had to shout our drinks up at the bar or we could've waited all night!!! And I think that to come away from the place after 2 weeks with only one complaint is pretty good.
Down the road where we stayed we mainly spent our nights in an Irish bar run by Greek brothers Harry and George and their staff Greg and Keeley. We were welcomed as soon as we walked in and made right at home. They all kept us entertained all through the night with their props and jokes and their wicked sense of humour. We also met quite a few people in there young and old who were all just out for a good time.
We are definitely going back next year and can't wait.

Please read if you are a young couple thinking of Messonghi Beach Resort.
Just got back from 2 weeks spent here with my boyfriend.
These are the good points about the resort and tour operator:
- Attractive to look at Gardens/Hotel itself,
- Very close to beach,
- Choice of pools (salt water/chlorine),
- Restaurant staff really nice,
- Bus ride to town is cheap.
Bad points:
- We had one of the 'un-furnished' rooms (no air con, no fan, no kitchen equipment what so ever),
- Expensive food and drink at bars/restaurant,
- Rep was never there to talk to when she said she would be,
- Trips over priced and rubbish,
- Last and only bus back from town was 15.30,
- Nothing to do of an evening (same entertainment every night),
- Smell of the sewers outside entrance of hotel,
- 25 euros a week for a safety box (5 euros back at end of holiday),
- Catered mainly for families.
Overall I would recommend if you are a young couple looking at this resort I would re-think as you find nothing to do of an evening unless you have children.
If you do decide to go I would not recommend booking any trips through your rep. Walk along the strip of shops at the top of the road where you will find a lot more to do for a lot less. I think 2 weeks here was too long. One week would be fine and you could do quite alot that way.
I would not choose this resort or part of the island to go to again.

I stayed at the Messonghi Beach resort in Corfu in September 2007. My first impressions of the hotel were that it was a very large resort that was well kept.
When we were taken to our room I was slightly disappointed, as the room was very basic and only consisted of a double bed, shower, toilet and balcony. There was no TV, air con, kettle or fridge which I thought were a basic that should be including in all rooms. Despite being very basic the room was clean and a decent size for two people.
We stayed at the hotel on a half board basis which included breakfast and dinner, the food was excellent and felt there was a lot of variety, also the staff in the restaurant were very friendly and welcoming.
Day time entertainment consisted of poolside activities which included aerobics and aqua aerobics. Other activities included darts, water polo, and volley ball. There was also evening entertainment that was different every night some nights were better than others my best night was the beach party which was a very good atmosphere and really put you in the holiday mood.
If you didn’t want to stay in the hotel of an evening there a few bars and restaurants just outside the resort that had entertainment and also the drinks were a bit cheaper than the hotels bars.
The thing that attracted me to book this holiday was that the beach was very close to the hotel, but the pictures look nicer than it actually is, it is a shingle beach and also there was a lot of seaweed that put me of going in the water that looked dirty, also they provided sun loungers at a cost of 2euros but if you didn’t get there earlier enough then there were none left.
There are 7 swimming pools which are very nice and also some are shallow for children. The sun loungers were free at the poolside but again if you didn’t get there before 8am then you wouldn’t get one you would see sun loungers that people had left towels on but they wouldn’t be around for ages made me wonder if they had gone out and just left towels so they could use them when they got back which is very unfair to others.
One thing that I would say about the hotel is that the prices for food and drink were very expensive for what you got and for lunch there wasn’t much choice and found the staff at the snack bars were very rude and not very helpful.
Overall I did enjoy my holiday as I believe it’s what you make it! I think that this hotel is good for families with young children as there is a lot of activities for children but I felt that the area was very quiet and not much to do or see unless you went out on the trips which took you further into Corfu.
This is a good value for money holiday and I think if you are looking for a low budget holiday then I would recommend this hotel.

My one week holiday with my family was supposed to be fantastic....... this is how it went.
Pick up from airport....... driver scared the living daylights out of us, driving like a lunatic swerving from side to side. Shocked at how bad the area was.
Day one:
Key to apartment not working. Requested a new key or repair the lock. This was done quickly yet failed to resolve the problem.
Food in the restaurant was not nice to put it politely. This continued to be the case all week. No drinks were offered with evening meal and when taking a bottle of water bought in the hotel to the restaurant my son was challenged by a waiter. Staff in hotel were very rude or didn't even speak. My son cut his foot open on rocks and the doctor and the nurse who treated him didn't wash their hands between patients neither did they adorn gloves.
Day two:
Was sold a trip on Theos Beach and BBQ...... This trip was not cheap yet sounded like so much fun. The trip out was lovely however the amount of people on the boats was shocking, drinks and snacks were charged at different prices, the language of the staff on board was horrendous the use of sexually explicit language left my 11yr old son with lots of questions. There was not enough BBQ food for everyone. The diving of the top of boats and piercing of cans of shaving foam was not a suitable display for young children.
Day three:
Walking up the drive to the shops a member of staff was deliberately run down by her partner.
Tried to find our rep but no sign even though her poster said she would be there! Still having difficulty with door locks. Requested another new key!
Bins in my room had not been emptied for two days and the waste was climbing the walls.
Realised the garden shop at the hotel was overcharging the children by 30 cents each time they shopped there.
Sold a trip on the Kalypso star (glass bottom boat). Arrived at the docks to find it had been double booked, we were told to go shopping for 3 hours and then come back, nobody showed us which direction we were to go in nor was there anyone to meet us upon return. When the boat finally arrive nearly 30 mins late it was already gone 8:30pm. The trip was enjoyable even though we thought we were going to see sealions in their natural habitat to find they were in a small cage. On return to the docks no coaches had turned up to collect us and we were left standing on the docks for over an hour. When they did turn up chaos ensued with angry phone calls by the drivers and very poor driving. A twenty min journey home took over an hour. We arrived back at gone 11pm.
On entering reception the receptionist was in floods of tears! We stopped at the patio cafe in the hotel upon return to grab a coffee and whilst being served the girl had a storming row with another member of staff.... after waiting nearly 20 mins for a coffee we decided to just go to bed.
Day four:
For safety, sanity and a restful day we spent the day on the beach. The lifeguard tower was normally unoccupied as he spent most of his time chatting to young female tourists. Once again a disappointing dinner followed.
Day five:
Went early to see our first choice rep again as I wanted to make her aware of how bad the holiday was..... when I told her my concerns and complaints I also said I would never recommend the hotel she replied, 'neither would I its only a two star' !!!!!!
Well the rest of the day I spent in my hotel room with my family.... all I wanted to do was to go home!!!
Day six:
Spent the day on the beach and the evening in our room. My eldest son got chased by two large stray dogs who were ripping bin bags open at the end of the path. Complained to the rep again who claimed they cant do anything about the amount of stray dogs in the hotel.
Day seven:::Finally going home!
Coach due to collect us at 11:15pm got to us at 11:40pm we had two stops to collect more passengers and our check in was at 11:55pm, we arrived at the airport at 00:20am. Touched down in UK and my lord was I pleased.
I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone regardless of age. I only had one semi good day and that was on the beach. The only nice thing I can say for the hotel was it had good views and a nice beach.

Me and my boyfriend really enjoyed our stay at Messonghi beach. Our room had a TV, air-conditioning, and a good size balcony.
We stayed in the twin bedroom part of the hotel, they were much better rooms compared to some of the rooms in different parts of the hotel. We stayed for 1 week, relaxing on the beach and then by the main pool.
The only bad thing that happened to us is that we had our towels stolen. Part from that it was lovely. Perfect for our 1st ever holiday without the parents (we both are 17).
My boyfriend did get bored of the same breakfast and dinner though, but still there were quite a few choices to choose from.
We did feel like we were the only English people there though, not complaining, but it was more packed of German and French.
The beach was nice, and in the evenings there sometimes were parties which was good, as every gets involved.
We even did paragliding which was so fun and worth the money. Everything was in English and the people were very helpful, it’s a place we wouldn’t say no to going again.
Don’t be put of by the other reviews, we had fun.

I can't understand some of the comments that people have sent in about this hotel. We enjoyed it that much that we've booked to go again next year, but for 2 weeks instead of 1. Karen the rep. was very helpful, ok we did have problems getting a sunbed by any of the pools, but that can happen anywhere. The beach bar food was lovely and the waitress at the drinks bar was very pleasant. The food in the dining room wasn't typically greek, but the meats were lovely and tender. We had no problem getting a table and there was plenty of crockery. Over all we had a lovely time.
