The hotel was very clean, the staff were friendly and the grounds were lovely. However, the food was appalling - it was badly cooked, the choice was very poor and the food was low quality. My husband's meals consisted of a plate of chips and tomatoes for the first week of our stay, until I lodged a complaint with the restaurant manager. From that point, we ordered a separate meal each morning. The hotel guests were predominantly French and German so I do not know what they thought of the food, but there was a lot of dissatisfaction amongst the British guests.
The entertainment programmes were mainly conducted in French or German.
The food bought at the hotel was very poor and very expensive (€4 for a hamburger, compared to €2 at a snack bar just immediately outside the hotel grounds) and drinks were also expensive (€4 for 0.4l of heineken compared to about €2.50-3 in the resort.
The hotel staff were very friendly on the whole, and were keen to help. However, the pay and conditions are currently the subject of a pending strike, there were a few demonstrations by the staff whilst we were staying at the hotel.

The staff were ignorant ,the meals were the same everyday it was like being in a scrum to get anything to eat and it was just barley warm.the entertainment was always for the germans and french
there was nothing open for my 5 year old granbson,my daughter and family had to move rooms because they gave a family of 4 one with 3 beds squashed up in one room .then they wanted them to pay an extra £100 ..the rooms were small and the beds were low and hard i had a bad back the first week of our stay,We was put in the riverside rooms with all the french and germans.the shower was a joke very small ..the toilet was dirty.
the drinks were expensive too ..we ended up eating and drinking out everyday only holiday we have been on and lost weight ...wouldnt recomend this hotel to my worst enemy....

I can't believe some of the reviews I have read relating to this resort!! It is fantastic!! We first went to this hotel in June 2006 with our 3 children with ages from 3years to a teenager and there was something for everyone. We all had such a brilliant holiday that we went back to the same hotel in June 2008 after a disaster in Spain in 2007!!
The hotel is brilliant, very clean, spacious, and the staff were so helpful.
After the first visit staying in the main hotel, we stayed in the bungalows the second time we went, it was brilliant with fantastic views of the sea and beautiful scenery. The rooms are very basic but there is everything you need, afterall it is only somewhere to get changed, shower and sleep!!
The meals had enough variation for both adults and children. If you fancied eating out there is a brilliant restaurant/cafe called 'Popeyes' which is very child friendly and is situated at the end of the hotels driveway.
Well what more can I say? The hotel grounds are amazing, nice food, lovely friendly staff and locals. This hotel had improved even more the second time around which I would have thought was impossible!!
Greece is very relaxed, laid back and friendly. I think that people need to understand that they are in a foreign country and I can assure you that if you booked this holiday you would love it!! If you want somewhere that has everything British then go to Blackpool!!
We loved it so much we are going again & the kids can't wait to go back!!
Happy Holidays!!

I wish I could say nice things about my stay at Messonghi Beach hotel, but I really can't. This hotel is a complete shambles and a joke to call itself a 3 star hotel!! First of all when arriving, the Rep rushed us in and left us, and we were greeted by very unwelcome staff!! We were then shown to our room. We had paid for a Superior Room before we got here and was very surprised to be dumped into the Riverside Bungalows!! Were there we two tiny wooden beds pushed together and some bunk beds! My boyfriend and I just were surprised to think that this was our upgraded room!! All the electric wiring was exposed and the shower + curtain was hanging by a chain!!! our Rep failed to turn up for the welcome meeting so we couldn’t complain straight away, as the hotel staff refused help. By this stage our room was infested with ANTS after complaining one member of the hotel sprayed our room plus beds with RAID. I asked for new sheets and he said there was no need but that is a skin irritant!! so me and my boyfriend had to share top bunk!! The next day we saw the rep and she advised that we were all in the wrong rooms!! So 3 more days later we go moved into our upgraded room. This was a huge improvement but things still did not improve! If your tour operator tells you that you will have aircon when you upgrade, they are lying!! we were shocked to find that aircon would cost 8 euros a day!!! Every thing was loose and falling apart, i got looked in the bathroom for half an hour while my boyfriend was out as the bathroom handle broke off completely!! This hotel definitely can't cook at all!! the food was disgusting and half the time cold and we ended up eating out most of the time and our money run out very quickly!! I am extremley dissapointed with Thomas Cook for even recomending this resort to us! I will no longer be booking my hoildays with Thomas Cook. This has now ruined my view on Corfu. I am very disspointed and was glad to come back home.

This has to be the worst holiday ive been on thanks to the oh so wonderful messonghi beach hotel, (sense the sarcasm!). First of all plane was delayed 2hr whilst sitting on the plane, due to 2 technical faults, thats not the best thing you want to hear before you fly! arrived corfu, driven by crazy coach driver to hotel, not what you need early hours of morning after flight, arrival at hotel dumped by useless thomas cook rep, just said go in hotel everything should be sorted. Go into hotel tired want to go to sleep, Asked the horrible rude reception staff can we check in? we need voucher, we need voucher, ok never heard that one before. gave us keys eventually, draged half way round hotel to a riverside bungerlow, surprising as we booked a supreme room. room was filthy, light hanging off wall, electrical wires exposed, shower rail hanging off wall, 2 tiny beds with very thin matress by the way im 6ft 2inch tall. open balcony window right next to sewage smelling river. got an ant infestation all over the beds and floors, complained to hotel reception staff, said that we would have to speak to our rep to get moved. 3 days later of absolute nightmare with ants, which also to try and get rid of the infestation the clever hotel staff decided to spray a whole can of Raid in our room all over our beds and everywhere, my partner sufferes with asthma so it wasnt very good. had to sleep on tiny top bunk one night. when we got moved into our so called supreme room. wardrobe door fell off, all handles hooks etc in bathroom were falling off, on one occasion i went out for a swim and used the very basic gym for 30mins left the key in the apartment said to my partner ill knock on door. she had a shower, shut the door when she went to get back out the door handle fell off, she was traped in there till i got back. came back to shouting and lots of banging. i had to go to reception to get someone to let me in to help her. she was left pretty traumatised from the whole experience. still ants in room but not as many. girlfriends towel got nicked. food was absolutley disgusting both breakfast and diner, very little choice and repeated to much. they didnt cater for english very much. very expensive things to get for lunch, they liked to rip you off. germans get alot more attention than brits which really annoyed me. whole place prob rakes in alot of money but decides not to improve the hotel, which needs major work to it. didnt speak to one single english person that enjoyed there experience, and in my opinion thomas cook should remove the messonghi beach hotel from there listings otherwise they will lose more customers, because they have just lost our custom.

i cannot believe some of the comments that some people have put about this hotel.
We had a brilliant stay at this hotel a couple of years ago and we couldn't have had a better holiday.
This was the first holiday we had with our then 3 and a half year old twins so we chose this holiday mainly for them.
Right this is for all those people out there that are looking to book a holiday for the first time with there young children and this is no lie i promise.
Firstly when we booked this holiday we where given a choice of wheather or not to stay in the main hotel building or to have one of the little bungalows around the gardens, we chose the bungalow and very pleased with it we were too.
The little bungalows are very basic but what do you expect it is after all just some where to sleep and shower. It was kept very clean and tidy as was the grounds which are absoulutly gorgeous. They have a very good mini club for the children which we used every day which gave the children something to do out of the sun which they really enjoyed. they had a great train that is free to use and takes you on a tour around the hotel and it's grounds, and not only did the kids love it so did the adults.
The food was what you expected being in greece it was greeek and very nice it was too. the hotel staff were very friendly.
We made some really amazing friends that we since been on holidays together several times since and we have great holiday photos and very fond memorys of our stay there.
At the end of the day a holiday is what you make it and if you go with a great possitive attitude you too will have a great holiday there.

First impressions of the hotel was very good, however our first thoughts turned to horror as when we got to our room, we found bare electrical wires, a hand held type shower and the main thing was No air conditioning, which is a must. But after talking to the rep and complaining to reception we finally got the room we wanted, which was first class!
The food was nice, although the same things most days, if you don't like the food there's a lovely restaurant called 'Popeyes' which is just at the end of the complex.
The complex is huge and lovely, with very pretty gardens. Although not many english, all german, french and many other nationalities. All 4 pools were cleaned daily, 2 of them being sal****er.
The staff weren't very helpful, if they don't know what to do, they will just tell you to come back later. They weren't very english friendly.
There was lots of evening entertainment on every night, lots of kids shows.
Overall, it was an okay holiday, and would go back again. It's good for families, as long as you get a nice room.

arrived early hours expecting twin room with extra bed for our 13 year old son, greeted by rude unhelpful reception staff, who took an hour (and only after my husband complained to rec) to bring a fold up bed for my son to sleep on, which we had to put up ourselves. rooms in dire need of upgrade, shower cradle broken so had to hold shower head up by hand, rooms cleaned and bed linen and clean towels daily. outside areas were also shabby and not true to brochure pics, the pool that we frequented got dirtier as our stay progressed. food was tasty and plentiful, if luke warm. i am sure there are lots of lovely, well mannered italian people, who obviously holiday elswhere! on the whole we made the most of the holiday because we are adaptable and quickly realised that complaining would only serve to waste our time, a holiday is what you make it. that said we are glad we only booked a week and definatley wont be going back. pontins with lots of sun.

I would just like to say how much it upsets me seeing all these awful reviews about a place i love so much! I have been to messonghi beach 2 years in a row and shall be going back for the third time in a few days time.
If you are reading these reviews do not be put off by the bad reviews. They are clearly written by the people who are miserable and can't get the best out of something. Those who are used to Benidorm and not Greece! If you feel you cannot adapt to another countrys culture and way of life well then don't visit any of Greece (i have travelled much of Greece over the past 10 years - it is a basic but lovely and beautiful country)
Yes it has quite basic rooms. Its a 2 star hotel, not being funny but how much time do you want to spend in the room anyway when the weather is so hot and there is so much beauty around - as well as activitys and entertainment to keep you occupied!
The pools are all lovely and clean and never busy (there is like four). The beach is fantastic for snorkelling. if your a bit squeemish of seaweed like me then hire a pedalo for a few euro's and swim a bit further out and you will see some lovely ocean life
The BBQ boat trip and Blue lagoon with Thomas Cook is a must (i've done that trip twice and will be doing it again) however not advised for children - it is mainly aimed at a younger audience. The pork is absolutely delicious! and the blue lagoon is gorgeous!
There is so much food to choose from for breakfast and dinner. definately something for everyone from british to greek food. i particulaly love the homemade soup - i have it everyday as a starter (all the flavours are delicious)
I am getting so excited as i am going back very very soon for two weeks this time rather than one! Don't be put off by bad reviews - give the hotel a go as its probably by far one of the best lower priced hotels and resorts in Corfu! Right on the beach what more can you ask for.
Bon Voyage - i will update with how this years trip went when i get back. Hopefully it will be even better than before (which would make it the best holiday i have ever had)

( This is the complaint i sent to Thomas Cook )
I recently booked a holiday to Messonghi Beach hotel resort Corfu, Which was recommended to me by a member of staff at my local branch. This holiday resort was recommended to me after i gave what i belived to be a detailed discription of what i was looking for in my holiday. In my discription i made it very clear that i wanted a hotel that offerd good facilities such as watersports, tennis , basketball a gym etc but would also offer me a relaxing time.I was informed that this hotel would be the hotel for me, I was informed that the hotel done very nice food although rooms were basic i was informed that i could upgrade to a superior room for extra money, As i informed that member of staff that i wanted air conditioning in my room or a fan a view from my balacony and also a double bed a fridge. The member of staff assurred me that if i upgraded to the superioir room then i would have theses fa****ies in my room , Before making a final decision on this i asked the member of staff serving me who happend to be the manager of the store weather the facilities in hotle would be free of charge and also if i upgraded to a superior room would the air conditioning be free of charge were i was told yes it would be or at least there would be a fan, I was still apprehensive on this so decided to come back after some thought on it. After a few weeks we decided that from the discription of the hotel and all the information we had been given that we would book the holiday. Unfortuantly when we did go back to the branch the manager was not there for us to see but another of staff was there to help us, Although this member of staff was very unproffesional and was more interested in talking to her friend who was in the branch at the time getting currency then paying attention to myself and my partner, Before booking the holiday i asked this member of staff all of the same things as before and also asked her to have a check through her system and make sure there wasnt anything else that would be more suited to me and my partner and we would be willing to pay more, As this was the only time off a year that i get i intended on having a relaxing time and enjoying myself. The member of staff assured me that this wasnt the case the best holiday had been picked for me and all the details were still the same air con would still be supplied and no extra cost and a superior room had been booked. Also myself being a nervous flyer i asked weather or not it would be possible to get a seat next to my partner the member of staff in the branch informed me that although she could not do this in brancht hat if i got to the airport early enough then i would be able too do this a check-in. On the day of our departure i left my home in shoeburyness at 6.00pm leaving myself One hour and thirty minutes to get to the airport to check in with time to spare. As our take off time was not untill eleven fifty five pm. When arriving at the air port i went directly to the check-in desk were i was informed that i did not have a ticket and there for would have to go to the monach airline desk to get this which i did. Were i was then told to go to air agencies from then i was told to go to thomas cook who then told me i needed to go back to air agencies. Once i had got back to Air agenies i was then told that there had been a problem with previous fligts and i would have to go away and come back later on at 9.30pm to collect my ticket. I went away as advised and came back at 9.30pm were i was then made to wait for 20 minutes untill i was finally seen. I then proceeded to wait another 10 minutes to be seen by check-in members only to be told that i was late checking in through no fault of my own and would not be able to seat next to my partner as previously advised, Unless i was willing to pay an extra £30.00 pounds to have the privaledge of sitting next to my partner which i was already advised i could do for free. I was not best pleased about this but seeing no other option other then this i begrudenly paid the extra £30.00 at the monach help desk. The member of staff was extremly rude to myself and my partner, Which i found very unnessasry and extramly unprofessional.
We Finally arrived at Corfu airport to be greeted by the Olympic representative , who asked for our name and then informed us that we was traverling with Lauren 48. After we managed to find this person , Our bags were then loaded onto the coach by a man who we belived to be the coach driver to my horror this wasnt the driver just someone that the olympic rep knew. After being told to go on to the coach we was then made to wait on the coach in the dark for and hour. Were Lauren the rep informed us that she didnt know who our driver was or were he was ! After a long hours wait what i belived to be the driver was dropped off at the coach, And the rep (lauren) And her too collegue's that she was training loaded on to the coach and we set off for the hotel, Only to stop half way there to collect our correct driver from a cafe were he seemed to be enjoying a coffee, Were Laruen then turend to her collegues and cleary said to them " oh no not him we are all going to die ". Although i do not belive that she was intending for the rest of the coach to her her speech the front passengers most certainly did.
Once we had finally arrived at the hotel we unloaded our own lugage from the coach and proceded to enter the hotle as the olympic rep was leaving. Whist we was on the coach we was informed that on the door of our hotel from there would be a welcome note, and also a welcome package inside, after we finaly found our room we had nither if these. And to my horror the room was nothing like i was informed it would be. There was a plug hanging off the wall which would needed to be used every day by myself and my partner, there was no double beds only two single's the room was dirty and extremly small my view which i was informed would be of the sea was acutally a bush. I imidaitly left the room and went straight to the reception weere they told me there is nothing that they can do, I found the hotel staff to be very unreasonable rude and unhelpfull and continuosly asked me for my holiday voucher which should of been provided to me by thomas cook, Seeing as i did not have this they were admanate that i had not made any resevation with them , Thankfully i had brought along my holiday receipts and although the reception staff were not happy with this they did eventually except it as proof of my booking. After a very long discussion with tthe hotal reception staff they again told me that there was nothing that could be done and i was going to have to stay in the room i imformed the reception staff what had been told to me that my room was going to be a superior room i would have a fan or air con a douible bed and a veiw, the reception staff tehn informed me that i would not have air con free of charge and infact irt would then cost me a further ten euros a day to have this totaling in at another 140 euros which i was not willing to pay. And in fact that they do jnot have fan's in the hotel. As for the double bed they keep them for married couples as i was not married i was not intitaled to this. I then proceeded to ask what exactly i was paying a superior room for then were i was informed i was getting a telly. After trying the telly there was only one english channel which was un-wotchable . Still unhappy with this i went back down to reception to talk to a manger and make a complaint, i was then asked again to prove that i had made a resevation as i had to voucher i was asked this a further three times whilst staying at the hotel. After another long conversation with the manager my room was fianlly changed.
Although this room was an improvement it was still very dissapointing and turned out to be some what worse then the orginal, There was ants in the room, The shower was broken which i did report the reception but after an hour of waiting for the hotel care team i was informed that there was nothing wronge with it. Evan though the shower stutterd and after a while stopped only to start up again and squirt breown sludge at you. The paint would fall down from the walls and cellings when you moved the curtains when trying to keep the sun out of the room to cool it down. The toliet roll holder was broken, which ended in the one toliet roll that was provided a day being soaked when the shower stopped then flew pff the wall spraying brown sludge everywere. The sheets we never changed untill i complained again two days before we left to return back to england.
Apart from this we was told when booking the holiday that the food was extramly good at the hotel and was told to go half bord to save ourself's time and money. When we reached the hotel and fianly had breakfast we was shocked to find the breakfast was infact bolied eggs and bread extremly walm milk yogart that was infact past its celby date stale cereal, waterd down orange juice and tea. All of which was unedable i was shocked and very upset by this but decided to wait for dinner before i made a fianl judgement.
Unfortuantly for me dinner was uneadable it worked on which we found out to be a three day rota all of which was very undercooked, All seemed to be very very over salted and really was not eadable one the first night that we ate dinner there we unfortuanlty spent the next few days of our holiday inside of our hotel room with badly upset stomachs. From then on we eat outside of the hotel this too me was extremly dissapointing as i was told that the food was extremly nice and was told to get half bord and this would work out better for myself.
The hotels facilities that we was told about pria to booking the holiday which including water sports tennis basket ball and a gym were extremly over dramatised by staff at teh southend branch infact there was no water sports the tennis you had to pay for we was told this would be included, the basketball consisted of one basketball which was infact flat, The gym consisted of a room in the building that was half full of equipment that was broken and not fit to use.As you can imagine i was not happy with this as the first discription giving was extremlty wronge. We was also told that the hotel provided sun beds on the beach for free.Unfortuanltly this unfolded to be untrue also and it was infact five euros a day to rent two, This would of then cost me a further seventy euros to sit on a beach, that was not suitable to lay on simply on a towle.
The hotel representative for Olympic Was hardly every there and when we did manage to find him he seemed very rushed, We made several complaints to him and he did write up reports for us which i have enclosed copies of for yourself to read.
Two days before our departure i did manage to talk to matt about our problems that we was having with our room and he did come and look at it with us he was himself disgusted with the steets not being changed the aints and also the paint, Although matt did try to justify the showers and the food and the room he admitted that it was unexceptable and that he would sort out our room for us. When matt left us at elevan thirty in the morning to talk to the manager to get our room cleaned he came back to see if anything had changed at half four in the afternoon still nothing had happend, The room was not cleaned that day untill seven at night. Which i feel is unexceptable.
On the day that this happend matt gave us our leaving form's which told us that we would be colleted from the main reception room at ten minutes past two in the morning.
We confirmed this with the reception staff who informed me that they do not allow collections from the main reception any more and that we would be collected from the other reception. on the night we arrived at the other reception at half one in the morning, we then waited outside so that we could clearly see the coach when it came incase the reception staff were wrong. We waited untill half three for the coach to arrive and nothing came, We called the olympic help number who informed me she woudl find out were our coach was. When she called back she told me that i would need to order a cab as there was a problem with the coach and he would not be able to get us, when we finally arrived at the airport at gone four oclock in the morning we was shocked to find that the coach had managed to pick up all the other guest's, When we asked what was wronge and why wasnt we collected, we was informed that they forgot to collect us! I then asked why wasnt the olympic staff member who was collecting us not given a form with all of her collections on there, i was then informed that she was but she just didnt see us and forgot, And that she did not realise untill they was at the airport. I was then asked why was we not informed this and stunned when the only awnser they could give me was that they was sorry and would write yet another report and let us jump the check in que.
I am extremly upset with the all round serivce that i received. I feel that i was extremly mis-lead and that the holiday was falsy advertised, communication is very poor between your self's and olympic and between olympic and messonghi beach hotle. Everything that was promised to me was not given and i am very very upset about this. I was informed two get a superoir room which i was not given, i was told that the hotel had extremly good facilities this was also untrue, The food was unedable and contined to cost me over thirty euros aday in food which i should of been getting for free at the hotel. My rep at the hotel was hardly ever there and i am extremly dissapointed and disgusted that Thomas cook would advisertise and evan recommend this hotel to not only me but any one else. I feel that i was taken advantage of by thomas cook.

the managers n bar staff where ignorant but the animation team where excellent my 3 n a half year old loved every minute they do kids disco's kids partys and the evening entertainment was excellent also, the caberet was fantastic, the food wasnt bad but it wasnt gud, it was the same most days, we had our room broken into and had money stolen, the owner shrugged his shoulders n got told 2 find a police station, wen we did we got told 2 come back wen we could speak greek!! so we went through the rep she was very very helpful and wrote up statements to the brittish and greek embassys, i would definately go back to this resort but keep my belongings locked up, overall it was an amazing holiday and i would surely recommend...
