Hotel Description:

The Hilltop Apartments are situated off the main Paphos to Coral Bay road and offer comfortable accommodation in peaceful surroundings. A small selection of bars and tavernas can be found within walking distance of the apartments with a wider selection in the centre of Paphos which is around a ten minute drive away. The nearest sandy beach is around a fifteen minute walk away however the local bus stops nearby. The pleasant pool area provides an alternative to the beach

" Best Holiday Ever! "

I went to Hilltop Gardens last year, and had the most fantastic time. Things didnt get off to a fantastic start, when we pulled up, it looked pathetic compared to the big fancy hotels we'd just dropped people off at.. Later on that evening we had problems with the air conditioning in our room and had to call someone out because nobody could sleep. It was ridiculously hot. These two men were more than happy to come fix it and it was heaven.
From then on, the holiday was perfect. The staff at this place are absolutely amazing. Especially the bar staff. They all work so hard and still manage to keep smiles on thier faces (and put a smile on yours) :) The Hotel itself was clean, the pool was perfect, and the people were fantastic, the reason i couldnt give a ten, was simply because of the dated furniture in the rooms and the access to our room, i was staying with my mum, dad and nan and they could only offer us a top floor room, with no lifts, this was not easy but we all managed.
My mum and i had a day at the water park, which i can highly recommend! it was wonderful. Coral Bay beach is a short taxi drive away and although this might not suit some people it suited me perfectly because i hate the beach :) however the beach was clean, tidy and had toilets, showers and bar/resteraunt.
I loved this holiday and begged to come back this year but my parents arent the people who keep going to the same places, hopefully in the future we/i will return.
Definately recommend to you.

Advice: Paphos itself is a lovely place with a beautiful beach and wonderful resteraunts!

Activities: Paphos water park, resteraunts along beach towards coral bay beach

Good for: Beach

" Good base for exploring with a car "

My boyfriend and I stayed here and found it to be a good base for us as we wanted to hire a car and explore Cyprus. When we weren't out we were sunbathing by the pool, which was pleasant and at 25 years old we were the youngest there by quite a bit which we viewed as a good thing as it was nice and peaceful (no kids)! Most of the bars and restaurants were a 5-10 minute walk from Hilltop gardens but the good beach (coral bay)and the lively harbour were a bus ride away.

Advice: Two weeks would be a bit boring without a car

Activities: Adonis baths and day trip to Egypt

Good for: Beach

" Hill Top appartments Cyprus "

This is probably the worst place my wife and I have stayed. Although we didn’t pay much, I thought they had a cheek charging at all. The facilities were really poor both in our room and in the hotel. The room although superficially clean was in fact filthy, the beds and mattresses were in a dire state and had that lovely faint smell of stale urine. The décor and furniture came from the 60’s and even our dinning table had a nice carving from someone who had been on holiday from some time before. The kettle when used smoked and the dodgy gas cooker looked a little to dodgy for my liking. As mentioned in other posts the exterior of the apartments were in poor repair and hand rails were hanging off the walls. The pool area was a sight to be seen, obviously there was no filtration system as the water was near stagnant and the paving around was subsiding. There is no television service and no TV’s in the rooms.
In all a bad experience, and one which has made us decide not to go back to Cyprus.
One plus point is that the staff are on hand and are very friendly and helpful.

Advice: Paphos has really gon down hill, there are hundreds of pubs and restaurants for sale.

Activities: The airport

" They say you get what you pay for,... "

They say you get what you pay for, and this is classified as a 2* according to tour operators so don't expect luxury, but it is clean, comfortable and excellent value. We booked with freedomdirect and paid a total of £173 for 7 nights for 2 people B&B.
What ratings and tour operator details don't convey is the detail that makes a holiday and in this case it is Sam. He is so enthusiastic, friendly and a genuinely very nice person. Nothing is too much trouble for him, and also Josi who serves a good breakfast and is very cute too 8-)

" My wife and I arrived from the... "

My wife and I arrived from the airport at approximately 7pm, received a grunt from the receptionist shown to room up some stairs with very dodgy handrails and one solitary light at the bottom, after some jiggling of keys gained entry into the room, what a complete let down, the bedding must have been bought at an army surplus store, mattress or should I say what resembled a mattress was as hard and spring loaded (by that i mean you could feel the springs digging into you when you sat on the bed) old dated wardrobe falling to bits, dressing table hanging off the wall and nicosia zoo infesting the apartment, toilet with sign saying no paper to be put down it!! no hot water, gas cooker feed provided by old garden hose from input tap! dirty cooker, booked out at 7.40pm and received another grunt from the receptionist and found own accommodation, will never return to that place and would not recommend it to my worst enemy. Went back the next day to meet the rep and low and behold no rep at published time not wanting to waste our holiday we left and vowed to contact med hotels on return, we did that last thursday 15th May 08 it is now Monday 20th May 08 and still wait a reply e-mail from them. cracking customer services.

" Myself and my two daughters visited... "

Myself and my two daughters visited Paphos and stayed at the Hilltop Gardens for one week in August, it was our first visit to Cyprus. We enjoyed our time here and time passed very quickly as there is plenty to do. The harbour has the best restaurants and bars, there are plenty of shops for all tastes, the only down fall I would say is that there are no beaches that you could just stroll on, everything was a distance away via bus or taxi.

The pool was a life saver in the August heat and was kept clean. The rooms are very basic but are clean and tidy and there is air con installed but at a cost. The best asset to this holiday was the staff, Sam was so friendly and funny he always has a smile even though he works very long hours. Take a break Sam! I'm sure who ever visits here in future will have a just a good time as we did.

" The apartments were clean enough,... "

The apartments were clean enough, basic as other reviews will tell you. Paying £4cyp a day for air con was a bit steep but necessary for us as we didn't have an apartment that looked onto anything. The area around the pool was kept very clean, but the pool itself was not cleaned regularly enough and there were lots of flies and leaves floating in it. Pool bar serves snacks, but you would need to head out if you wanted more than a ready meal for dinner.

The shop on site is small and is only open until 4pm, which didn't help us when we arrived at 6pm on the first night. The apartments are a bit away from anywhere, which is fine if you are happy to sit by the pool during the day and sit in the bar at night. If you like getting out and about you would need to use the bus service which was pretty regular with buses every 15 minutes, or about a 10 minute walk away there are some bars and restaurants, which are fairly reasonable.

We did find this resort a bit expensive for eating out, but if you head along to Coral Bay things are much cheaper in both the supermarket and restaurants. Drinks and food is generally half the price. Nice to spend a day at the beach there and then head up to the shop area in Coral Bay get what you need then get on the bus back to the resort Hilltop Gardens is in. The staff at Hilltops are very friendly and helpful when you need anything but Sam is doing about 6 jobs at once so you may have to wait a bit. If you want a holiday where you don't have to move very far then this would be the holiday for you, was a bit far out for us.

" Like everyone has said it is a way... "

Like everyone has said it is a way from the centre but we never waited more than 5 mins for a bus that only cost 80cent each but don't let that put you off....

Yes ok it is a bit dated and could do with being redecorated but me and my fiancée (both19) loved it!! Its small cosy and soooo friendly we are dearly missing Sam and Irfan they made our hol, playing pool with us and keeping us up till all times telling us stories!!

The pool isn't massive but its ok I don't think I'd go there in the main summer period as they may run out of sunbeds cos there wasn't many really, but I would defo go back!!

Sam, come and open you restaurant near me and you can cook for me, a proper jelfrezi lol

Stayed in the Hill top gardens for a mini break. It was ideal. Bedrooms abit dated but always kept clean.

Staff helpful and Breakfast and Bar service was Good. Pool lovely but does get very busy later in the day. If you want a nice Beach go to Coral bay its only a bus ride 10 Mins.

Taverns and pubs are about 10-15 mins walk but the bus comes every 15mins.

" Had a very good time at the Hilltop... "

Had a very good time at the Hilltop Gardens. Its clean and the staff are friendly. The only bad points were :-

Hilltop is quite a way from town (although you can walk to the main road and get a bus for 80p, taxis are about 4CYP). The maids don't seem to clean your room every day and we had to ask a few times for new towels. Food ordered from the bar takes quite a while to get as they seem to be quite understaffed.

But the pool is clean and the hotel itself is nice and has optional air-con (which you cant really live without in August).

Places that you have to go if you stay here are :-

Chloes Chinese restaurant which is on the tomb of the kings road, it is fantastic and the best Chinese food I've ever had!

Next door to Chloes is a stone grill place which is also fab! You cook your own food on a little slab of rock, brilliant night!

The Gondola is a nice cheap place to eat and I had one of the best steaks there!

Overall its a brilliant place as long as you like it quiet and don't mind a walk. And for drinks I'd recommend Cypus's own beer KEO as its very cheap (1.60CYP for a 660ml bottle) and its lovely.

" This holiday was easily the best... "

This holiday was easily the best we've had. The apartments are basic but clean, it has everything there that you need for a self catering holiday. The staff are unique; Sam, Moobarik and Effan made our stay unforgettable, they are very friendly and helpful. We ended up back at the pool bar every night for a drink with them. You won’t find better bar staff abroad, although Sam is more than bar staff, I think he is the assistant manager because he seems to do a bit of everything and works very long hours but he is always smiling.

The location was perfect for what we wanted, it’s not in the middle of all the night life but it’s not too far away from anywhere. Coral bay is where the beach is (which is very nice but the sand was way too hot to walk on bare foot) is about 10/15 mins on the bus and there is a nice selection of bars and restaurants there. The harbour is only about 15 mins on the bus and is nice but gets very busy on the weekend with all the locals going there. It has a lot of bars and restaurants there and seems to be the place to go for the night life. Overall it was a brilliant holiday and we will definitely be going back to the Hilltop again soon. Highly recommended.

" After reading the reviews we were... "

After reading the reviews we were very apprehensive about going. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised.

The apartments are dated, but very clean they were cleaned on a regular basis.

The pool area is excellent which also includes a kiddie pool and was cleaned every day the bar food is great with a good choice of menu, I recommend a dirty burger!

The staff are very friendly, especially joshalin Sam and robin. They made us feel very welcomed and went out of their way to please, not just us but everyone who was on holiday there.

This is a kind of holiday if you just want to recharge your battery it is ideal very quiet and laid back just up my street.

The town is a bus ride away which costs 80 cents but I recommend you hire a car as the bus service is like the 1 we are used to here in England you can be waiting for 30 Min's and then 3 turn up.

We were well looked after by Robin and Sam as it was my birthday they got me a cake and made a fuss off me. The holiday was a very special one for us and it was not just the staff but also the people that were there all good people.

I have made good friends with Sam and Robin who I regard as my little brothers, it was the first time I have ever shed a tear when we were leaving.

I hope to return soon to see my extended family so thank you Sam and Robin you guys are top.

" Stayed at the Hilltop with a friend... "

Stayed at the Hilltop with a friend early on in the season, accommodation adequate, but clean and tidy.

It was the staff and fellow guests the made the holiday so enjoyable, thanks to the staff, especially Robin, who never stopped smiling.

Pool area was a great place to make friends; the main bars and restaurant area are 5 minute drive in taxi, car and scooter hire very cheap.
