very very dissatisfied. came to rest but all we could hear was the cleaning ladies very early pulling the furniture up and down shouting one to the other. This was happening all the week i was staying there. we even had to pay for the tv and ac remote to be provided.

After reading the reviews about Hilltop Apartments just before we went on holiday Sept 2010 i was dreading going so what a relief to find half the people who had given bad reviews must have been on something. The apartments were cleaned and beds made 5 days a week towels and sheets were changed regulary. All the staff were friendly especially the bar staff Stella and Yvonne(Effan). The pool was not dirty just petals from the trees dropping in (not a problem)My Dad accidentally set the smoke alarm off with his toast making and the staff rang in seconds to make sure we were okay.I have given 9 out of 10 because there were a couple of silly repairs that needed seeing to. If i go back to Cyprus Hilltop would be my first choice. If hiring a car Akis & Maria car hire Tel no.357 26938043 good value for money.

We stayed at the Hilltop gardens for 11 nights during July and August 2010. We booked this hotel as we were looking for a base to stay while visiting friends who live nearby. When we arrived we were pleased to find a clean apartment next to a quiet pool. The decor was fresh from the 60's which made us laugh.
We quickly began exploring Paphos which is an amazing place to stay. From the apartments is it a short walk to the bus stop where you can catch a bus which will take you to the harbour, the market (old town), the water park and coral bay (the best beach around). It only cost 1 euro no matter where you are going in peak season. There are amazing restaurants around which must be tried many of which can be found along the main road which the apartments are just behind.
Back to the apartments themselves. As time went on we became less impressed with the apartments. We found we had another guest staying with us which would come to play each evening (Colin the cockroach) as well as hundreds of other bugs which seem to be everywhere! From the ants nest in the bath overflow hole to the mosquito's the apartment was positively crawling!
The maids would come to clean the apartment every few days, however when we say clean the times when we are in they ran a mop over the floor and changed the bins and that was it! They did change the sheets once during our stay and made the beds a couple of times. If you do stay here TAKE YOUR OWN towels! The reason I say this is because one they are rarely changed, two they are like cheese graters and three they were tiny!
As we were out late most nights we were not impressed being woken at 8am most mornings, the worst morning we were woken by the chainsaw cutting down the tree outside our room!
We didnt really use the kitchen facilities as there are so many lovely restaurants it wasn’t worth cooking, however we did notice there were no matches had we wanted to use the gas hob.
The pool bar was the best thing about the apartments the lady who works in the day and the man who works in the evening were very pleasant and the food was pretty good.
As for other staff well we avoided them as found them to be rather rude.
Overall we would not go back and would not recommend it; there are so many other apartment blocks out there with better locations it’s just not worth it.

I went to Hilltop Gardens last year, and had the most fantastic time. Things didnt get off to a fantastic start, when we pulled up, it looked pathetic compared to the big fancy hotels we'd just dropped people off at.. Later on that evening we had problems with the air conditioning in our room and had to call someone out because nobody could sleep. It was ridiculously hot. These two men were more than happy to come fix it and it was heaven.
From then on, the holiday was perfect. The staff at this place are absolutely amazing. Especially the bar staff. They all work so hard and still manage to keep smiles on thier faces (and put a smile on yours) :) The Hotel itself was clean, the pool was perfect, and the people were fantastic, the reason i couldnt give a ten, was simply because of the dated furniture in the rooms and the access to our room, i was staying with my mum, dad and nan and they could only offer us a top floor room, with no lifts, this was not easy but we all managed.
My mum and i had a day at the water park, which i can highly recommend! it was wonderful. Coral Bay beach is a short taxi drive away and although this might not suit some people it suited me perfectly because i hate the beach :) however the beach was clean, tidy and had toilets, showers and bar/resteraunt.
I loved this holiday and begged to come back this year but my parents arent the people who keep going to the same places, hopefully in the future we/i will return.
Definately recommend to you.

My boyfriend and I stayed here and found it to be a good base for us as we wanted to hire a car and explore Cyprus. When we weren't out we were sunbathing by the pool, which was pleasant and at 25 years old we were the youngest there by quite a bit which we viewed as a good thing as it was nice and peaceful (no kids)! Most of the bars and restaurants were a 5-10 minute walk from Hilltop gardens but the good beach (coral bay)and the lively harbour were a bus ride away.

This is probably the worst place my wife and I have stayed. Although we didn’t pay much, I thought they had a cheek charging at all. The facilities were really poor both in our room and in the hotel. The room although superficially clean was in fact filthy, the beds and mattresses were in a dire state and had that lovely faint smell of stale urine. The décor and furniture came from the 60’s and even our dinning table had a nice carving from someone who had been on holiday from some time before. The kettle when used smoked and the dodgy gas cooker looked a little to dodgy for my liking. As mentioned in other posts the exterior of the apartments were in poor repair and hand rails were hanging off the walls. The pool area was a sight to be seen, obviously there was no filtration system as the water was near stagnant and the paving around was subsiding. There is no television service and no TV’s in the rooms.
In all a bad experience, and one which has made us decide not to go back to Cyprus.
One plus point is that the staff are on hand and are very friendly and helpful.
- Advice: Paphos has really gon down hill, there are hundreds of pubs and restaurants for sale.

They say you get what you pay for, and this is classified as a 2* according to tour operators so don't expect luxury, but it is clean, comfortable and excellent value. We booked with freedomdirect and paid a total of £173 for 7 nights for 2 people B&B.
What ratings and tour operator details don't convey is the detail that makes a holiday and in this case it is Sam. He is so enthusiastic, friendly and a genuinely very nice person. Nothing is too much trouble for him, and also Josi who serves a good breakfast and is very cute too 8-)

My wife and I arrived from the airport at approximately 7pm, received a grunt from the receptionist shown to room up some stairs with very dodgy handrails and one solitary light at the bottom, after some jiggling of keys gained entry into the room, what a complete let down, the bedding must have been bought at an army surplus store, mattress or should I say what resembled a mattress was as hard and spring loaded (by that i mean you could feel the springs digging into you when you sat on the bed) old dated wardrobe falling to bits, dressing table hanging off the wall and nicosia zoo infesting the apartment, toilet with sign saying no paper to be put down it!! no hot water, gas cooker feed provided by old garden hose from input tap! dirty cooker, booked out at 7.40pm and received another grunt from the receptionist and found own accommodation, will never return to that place and would not recommend it to my worst enemy. Went back the next day to meet the rep and low and behold no rep at published time not wanting to waste our holiday we left and vowed to contact med hotels on return, we did that last thursday 15th May 08 it is now Monday 20th May 08 and still wait a reply e-mail from them. cracking customer services.

we had a lovely time at the hilltop gardens, the staff were lovely and friendly all of them, the accommodation was basic but after all we only slept there. The pool table needs updating and i think everything else we loved will come again thanks to all. We hired a car from akis & maria car hire they were great. We thought the meals were expensive at the pool bar and happy hour could of been on all drinks not just cocktails. We loved Cyprus and would go again my two boys thought it was great.
