Myself and my two daughters visited Paphos and stayed at the Hilltop Gardens for one week in August, it was our first visit to Cyprus. We enjoyed our time here and time passed very quickly as there is plenty to do. The harbour has the best restaurants and bars, there are plenty of shops for all tastes, the only down fall I would say is that there are no beaches that you could just stroll on, everything was a distance away via bus or taxi.
The pool was a life saver in the August heat and was kept clean. The rooms are very basic but are clean and tidy and there is air con installed but at a cost. The best asset to this holiday was the staff, Sam was so friendly and funny he always has a smile even though he works very long hours. Take a break Sam! I'm sure who ever visits here in future will have a just a good time as we did.

The apartments were clean enough, basic as other reviews will tell you. Paying £4cyp a day for air con was a bit steep but necessary for us as we didn't have an apartment that looked onto anything. The area around the pool was kept very clean, but the pool itself was not cleaned regularly enough and there were lots of flies and leaves floating in it. Pool bar serves snacks, but you would need to head out if you wanted more than a ready meal for dinner.
The shop on site is small and is only open until 4pm, which didn't help us when we arrived at 6pm on the first night. The apartments are a bit away from anywhere, which is fine if you are happy to sit by the pool during the day and sit in the bar at night. If you like getting out and about you would need to use the bus service which was pretty regular with buses every 15 minutes, or about a 10 minute walk away there are some bars and restaurants, which are fairly reasonable.
We did find this resort a bit expensive for eating out, but if you head along to Coral Bay things are much cheaper in both the supermarket and restaurants. Drinks and food is generally half the price. Nice to spend a day at the beach there and then head up to the shop area in Coral Bay get what you need then get on the bus back to the resort Hilltop Gardens is in. The staff at Hilltops are very friendly and helpful when you need anything but Sam is doing about 6 jobs at once so you may have to wait a bit. If you want a holiday where you don't have to move very far then this would be the holiday for you, was a bit far out for us.

Like everyone has said it is a way from the centre but we never waited more than 5 mins for a bus that only cost 80cent each but don't let that put you off....
Yes ok it is a bit dated and could do with being redecorated but me and my fiancée (both19) loved it!! Its small cosy and soooo friendly we are dearly missing Sam and Irfan they made our hol, playing pool with us and keeping us up till all times telling us stories!!
The pool isn't massive but its ok I don't think I'd go there in the main summer period as they may run out of sunbeds cos there wasn't many really, but I would defo go back!!
Sam, come and open you restaurant near me and you can cook for me, a proper jelfrezi lol

Stayed in the Hill top gardens for a mini break. It was ideal. Bedrooms abit dated but always kept clean.
Staff helpful and Breakfast and Bar service was Good. Pool lovely but does get very busy later in the day. If you want a nice Beach go to Coral bay its only a bus ride 10 Mins.
Taverns and pubs are about 10-15 mins walk but the bus comes every 15mins.

Had a very good time at the Hilltop...

Had a very good time at the Hilltop Gardens. Its clean and the staff are friendly. The only bad points were :-
Hilltop is quite a way from town (although you can walk to the main road and get a bus for 80p, taxis are about 4CYP). The maids don't seem to clean your room every day and we had to ask a few times for new towels. Food ordered from the bar takes quite a while to get as they seem to be quite understaffed.
But the pool is clean and the hotel itself is nice and has optional air-con (which you cant really live without in August).
Places that you have to go if you stay here are :-
Chloes Chinese restaurant which is on the tomb of the kings road, it is fantastic and the best Chinese food I've ever had!
Next door to Chloes is a stone grill place which is also fab! You cook your own food on a little slab of rock, brilliant night!
The Gondola is a nice cheap place to eat and I had one of the best steaks there!
Overall its a brilliant place as long as you like it quiet and don't mind a walk. And for drinks I'd recommend Cypus's own beer KEO as its very cheap (1.60CYP for a 660ml bottle) and its lovely.

This holiday was easily the best...

This holiday was easily the best we've had. The apartments are basic but clean, it has everything there that you need for a self catering holiday. The staff are unique; Sam, Moobarik and Effan made our stay unforgettable, they are very friendly and helpful. We ended up back at the pool bar every night for a drink with them. You won’t find better bar staff abroad, although Sam is more than bar staff, I think he is the assistant manager because he seems to do a bit of everything and works very long hours but he is always smiling.
The location was perfect for what we wanted, it’s not in the middle of all the night life but it’s not too far away from anywhere. Coral bay is where the beach is (which is very nice but the sand was way too hot to walk on bare foot) is about 10/15 mins on the bus and there is a nice selection of bars and restaurants there. The harbour is only about 15 mins on the bus and is nice but gets very busy on the weekend with all the locals going there. It has a lot of bars and restaurants there and seems to be the place to go for the night life. Overall it was a brilliant holiday and we will definitely be going back to the Hilltop again soon. Highly recommended.

After reading the reviews we were very apprehensive about going. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised.
The apartments are dated, but very clean they were cleaned on a regular basis.
The pool area is excellent which also includes a kiddie pool and was cleaned every day the bar food is great with a good choice of menu, I recommend a dirty burger!
The staff are very friendly, especially joshalin Sam and robin. They made us feel very welcomed and went out of their way to please, not just us but everyone who was on holiday there.
This is a kind of holiday if you just want to recharge your battery it is ideal very quiet and laid back just up my street.
The town is a bus ride away which costs 80 cents but I recommend you hire a car as the bus service is like the 1 we are used to here in England you can be waiting for 30 Min's and then 3 turn up.
We were well looked after by Robin and Sam as it was my birthday they got me a cake and made a fuss off me. The holiday was a very special one for us and it was not just the staff but also the people that were there all good people.
I have made good friends with Sam and Robin who I regard as my little brothers, it was the first time I have ever shed a tear when we were leaving.
I hope to return soon to see my extended family so thank you Sam and Robin you guys are top.

Stayed at the Hilltop with a friend early on in the season, accommodation adequate, but clean and tidy.
It was the staff and fellow guests the made the holiday so enjoyable, thanks to the staff, especially Robin, who never stopped smiling.
Pool area was a great place to make friends; the main bars and restaurant area are 5 minute drive in taxi, car and scooter hire very cheap.

I stayed in the Hilltop Gardens with my boyfriend in September 06. The accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable. Rooms are cleaned every other day by friendly maids.
The bar staff are really friendly and make you feel very welcome, we were content staying at the pool bar most nights. The food at the Hilltop is lovely and great value for money (although only bar snacks are served) I recommend the full English breakfast.
The pool is a good size and is cleaned on a daily basis.
The Hilltop Gardens is situated slightly out of the way from Paphos town but a taxi will only cost you around £4 well worth the money, the bars and restaurants at the harbour are excellent, one called the Pelican Bar I highly recommend, they bring real live Pelicans out when you are eating, great fun.
But if you don’t fancy going into town there is a selection of bars and restaurants about a 10 minute walk along the road, the best one is Chloes, a Chinese restaurant beautiful food and great value for money.
I would definitely go back to The Hiltop gardens and highly recommend it to others.

Nov 2006, Mrs C Renham

We had read the reviews and were not sure what to expect.
After a week at the Hilltop we would say that yes it is a bit tired and dated, but for the money, you do get a clean and good sized apartment that has all the facilities you need for a relaxing holiday.
We eat a couple of times in the bar which did reasonable food for a decent price, but be prepared to wait as there is one member of staff looking after the reception, bar and cooking the food! Our room was cleaned every other day and kept topped up on toilet rolls daily.
We would recommend a car as it is located between the two resort hubs of Paphos and Coral bay. Overall a pleasant stay.

So if anyone from Hilltop reads this thanks very much for the holiday and see you soon.

Fantastic holiday 10 out of 10. Rooms...

Aug 2006, Miss A Hayes

Fantastic holiday 10 out of 10. Rooms cleaned every other day basic rooms and air con a must in August 25.c every day. Pool cleaned every other day and you are not permitted to reserve beds (no towels at 3 in the morning).
Excellent staff very helpful. This apartment is only 2* so it is basic but it has everything you need. The walk to the main road is around 20 mins the harbour is a car drive away but well worth a visit. Meals are approx £8 for 3 courses (cyprus £) on a set menu plus drink.
The food was very good but most nights our bill came to around £60. This would only include 1 bottle of wine and soft drinks 2ad 2 ch.
If you have a car eat out a the local places an excellent place to eat is in the village of Anarita. Go to the Anarita Taverna fantastic food and half the price mix with the locals and the cats!!!! Another excellent place is a fish restaurant owned by a local family they do the fishing themselves this is called The Fish Tavern and is in Paphos (by the large church at the end of the main road).
