Top stuff
Great hotel ata reasonable price for seeing disneyland paris. We were two adults and two kidas aged 3 and 18 mths. Nice rooms great service no queing. Characters vist the hotel many times a dayand stick around for photos. Hotel is 5/10 min walk with kids from the area with all the disney stores and planet hollywoods etc and 15 minutes from the park entrance. Didnt bother with the shuttle buses other than to and from the station. I'd suggest paying the small extra amount to stay in a montana room as we did to be in the main hotel building as some of the blocks were a fair walk from the main hotel (you get the minibar as well). The only down side is that disney as a whole is really expensive but then you cant complain too much when the kids see the castle and parades for the 1st time you'd be a hard man not to have tears in your eyes! Also went to buffalo bill show which was great 50 euro each for great night out plus all the beer you can drink plus a meal and a cowboy hat - cant be bad. All in all a great trip. We went 30 Jan and it was really quiet all 4 days wouldn't want to be there in summer as some of the queue markers on rides go all the way up to 2 hours!
Wonderful holiday
We stayed at the Sequioa Lodge in eurodisney Paris in January 05.We had a wonderful time, the kids had a ball(7yrs and 3).The hotel was beautiful, very child friendly, room was lovely, spotlessly clean.two double beds.Last yr we stayed at the New York hotel which was beautiful but 100e dearer.would recommend Sequioa Lodge to families who want to have a great holiday.
Sequoia was great
We stayed at the Sequoia Lodge in September 2004 and had a great time. There were 3 adults and a two year old in one room and it didn't seem squashed at all. The staff were so nice to my little neice. There was one guy - i can't remeber his name but he accompanied the characters when they visited the Hotel - he said hello to my neice when we were checking in and for the duration of the stay whenever we bumped into him he would make a fuss of her - and always remembered her name. The breakfast was great, a good selection of fruit, yoghurt, cheese, meat, croissants, rolls, cereal.... The Redwood bar is very nice and cosy, however, we had dinner one evening in the Beaver Creek tavern - the food was not very good and the service was terrible - just a word of warning. All in all the we were delighted with the hotel and certainly would stay there again.
Not very impressed
We booked a trip thro Newmarket travel in England,> When I booked I was informed that this was the second best hotel they had to offfer. I'd hate to see the others!! When we arrived at 10pm there was no one to greet us except a girl on the carpark who pointed to the far end of the car park towards our room. The rooms are all in blocks and the pathways were very dimly lit and the roots of the trees are coming up thro the pathways which is dangerous. When we finally found our room the key card wouldnt work, so my parner had to trek all the way back to reception- this is after 12 hours on a coach. Finally key card got sorted. Into the room....no tea or coffee making facilities even tho their website says there is. TV remote control didnt work so had to call reception as couldnt switch it off.. Had topay 6 euros for a kettle and some sachets of tea/coffee.NO MILK. Went to health spa and pool next day. Pool cold, Jacuzzi was lukewarm and very dirty.
not happy with standards
Myself and my family stayed at this hotel,we thought we had paid for a rather expensive stay on arrival we had to wait in a 30 minuite line to check in , we were then told that the room we had booked was not available and we would have to have another, we then complained and the girl was very rude to her colegue about us in french to which we understood, one hour later we was given the correct room which was below standard and dirty,we would not reccomend this hotel and will be saving to return to Florida where you are treated as a guest not a number.
Nice Staff,poor decor
The staff were good, the room was dingy and smelly at times. As it is apread out it took quite a long time to walk to the main building and back and after a day at disneyland with a two year old baby you don't want to do extra walking!..overall if your on a tight budget and just need a clean bed to crash, its fine..otherwise look somewhere else..
I was VERY surprised!!!!
My husband and I stayed at the Sequoia Lodge in Disneyland Paris in Sept 2004. I chose the hotel as I liked the idea of the USA National park theme. After I had booked it I read a few reviews and was dreading going there....but to my surprise IT WAS FANTASTIC. Now I stay in a lot of hotels - so know my stuff. When we got there - about 3pm there was no queue to check in. The reception staff were very helpful and explained how everything worked. I had booked a Montana room as I had heard that they were better. The reception staff told us we had been upgraded for free to a Lake Disney View room (which i wanted but it cost an extra £40. I was very happy to hear this. The room was GORGEOS. Massive room with a huge balcony/outside area. The bed was very comfortable and there was extra pillows (as I like a lot). The bathroom was clean and there was also plenty of towels (i like a lot of thise too). The mini bar was stocked and you could also have a tray in your room for making tea/coffee. The view from the balcony was amazing and there was a massive table and 4 chairs and a light for when it got dark. It was like being treated like royalty. The only problem we had was that we could not lock the balcony door. We called maintenance and they came within 10 minutes, fixed it and showed us how to lock it properly. They were very friendly and very efficient. The staff in the hotel were very helpful, as they helped us getting to the airport and booking meals. The bar is gorgeus and the staff very on the ball. The breakfast was a bit dispapointing for me. The coffee was out of a machine which shocked me. There was a good choice of food, bread, croissants, cereal, fruit salad, yoghurt etc. But the coffee was THE MAIN thing for me. When we got home I realised that I had left my make-up bag (containing about £200 worth of Dior make-up) at the hotel. This was 2 days later and my husband rang the hotel and they even mailed it to us in the UK. WOW! I totally thought I could kiss it goodbye and nearly had a heart attack at this. I can not fault this hotel AT ALL (except the coffee at breakfast). I would def stay there again.
Better than Most - Poorer than Some
We have stayed at Sequoia Lodge twice before and can understand the previous posters comments to a certain degree - although you should try staying at the Newport Bay Hotel for a really sleezy hotel! You cannot compare France to the US. French culture is so very different that the obsequious service one normally finds in US establishments cannot be translated to Paris. This said, the hotels do need tarting up! Our room this year was tatty - and with the peeling paint and grubby loo - well, its just a typical resort hotel isn't it? You are not spending much more here than in a hotel back in the UK. Planet Hollywood was the worst run restaurant we have ever been in.
Brilliant!
I've read a few reviews on here critisising the Europeans for being rude - I don't think you can blame a whole continent for the behaviour of the staff at Disneyland! This place is magical! Been twice about 10 years ago. Stayed at the Sequoia Lodge which was lovely and not that far away from the park. All rides were working (UNLIKE Anaheim!), can't seem to remember anything horrible about this place, I loved it. Went once for the 5th anniversary of the park (yes, I know that was a while ago!) and the castle was transformed. Queues weren't as bad as Anaheim. Definately worth a visit!
It's a Fairy Tale
Stayed at the property in late July 2004 with a family of 4 in an upgraded room and it far from met our expectations. I guess being in the fantasy business, Disney's travel brochures on the resort are written looking through rose coloured glasses. We have visited Disney World Florida several times and have found Disney to be first class. We chose the hotel due to proximity to the parks, the pool and cost. Check-in was slow, very mechanical and not overly friendly. Staff didn't seem to be able to make a decision, usually gave the wrong or incomplete information and gave the impression that they just don't care. Language was not a problem, as I am quite fluent in French and most staff had a good command of English. The complementary (if one can call it that with the high price of staying at Disney) breakfast was good, with a fairly decent suggestion. The rooms were average size for Europe and comfortable enough. Condition of the room and hotel was poor with peeling paint and wallpaper, poor patches and obvious repairs, dirty fixtures, scratched and dented furnishings, ice machines in 4 different locations did not work, bedding torn. Renovations were being done in the hotel that were an eyesore and not mentioned at time of booking. The pool was adequate but in need of updates. As far as the parks, MGM was poor with very little to see and what was there (with a couple of exceptions) was not very interesting. Disneyland was quite good. Very bright, qaint, lots to do for everyone. My only complaints would be the number of smokers who seem to be everywhere and smoke at any given time, unusual set-up for a kid-driven park. We also found that cleanliness compared to what we have previously experienced with Disney was lacking. Cigarette butts are everywhere, garbage on the ground and overflowing trash cans that are left unattended. There were not a lot of characters wandering about the property for the kids. Shopping was ok but lacked variety. Staff are better than the hotel but still not very accommodating. The waiting lines are a challenge, one is always pested by people trying to butt in because there is no control barriers or personnel to help manage. Meals were below average and expensive (although we expected this). The same is true with the Disney Village, average quality high price.
