Riu Kaya Belek in October

We stayed from 12th to 27th. October.2010.
The hotel was all you might expect of a locally rated 5 star hotel. Cleanliness and staff motivation are clearly priorities here, as both were faultless. Rooms are well decorated and airy & all have a sea view of sorts. Food in the buffet restaurant was varied with lots of choices, but beware of the poolside snack bar as the cakes etc. are not kept covered and atract lots of wasps. The Italian restaurant is a must. You will have to book, but the food is superb!
There is acres of sitting space around the hotel, with stacks of ports to plug your lap-top in, if that is your thing. The Irish bar is comfortable & quiet if you fancy a nice game of cards or just to sit & chat. Poolside games are non-stop so if you like a game of volley ball or a game of soccer you are well catered for. If you play tennis, they run an academy from this hotel & there are lots of clay courts, and you can hire tuition if you wish. Hotel is surrounded by golf courses & you will be spoiled for choice. There is also free crazy golf on site. Massive hotel pool, with additional pool containing lots of water slides. Fitness center is well equiped including free-weights. Indoor swimming pool is also very nice. You will never be searching for a sunbed in this hotel. There are more than enough in every area, so even the Germans, who will probably constitute 80% of the guests, do not need to put their towels on to reserve them! The hotel manager, Mr.Asim Burak Kipcak is available from 1630-1700hrs each day to resolve any concerns or just to hear your feedback. Great guy and you may find a reward at the end of your holiday for taking the trouble to speak to him.
This is a beach front hotel. The nearest place is Kadriye, not Belek. It is a 35min walk to Kadriye where you will look to book all your trips, as they are half the price the tour reps are charging for the same thing.
If you don't fancy the walk, the local bus runs from the hotel gate barrier, and costs 1.5 Turkish lire. ( about 75p) This should be the only thing you would need lire for, as you will get a much better deal taking Euros.
Evening entertainment is outside in the auditorium, weather permitting, or inside in the main bar if raining.
OK. Not the strongest feature of the holiday, but accepable.
That's it. Hope you enjoyed your holiday. We did!

I have read many reviews before coming to this hotel and really I do not understand how some of them say the things they do. The hotel ıs beautifully spotless at all times of day, the staff are superb, the food is to die-for-amazingly-gorgeous. Everything about the hotel was amazing. The entertainment, the rooms, the shows all really really good. Best all-ınclusive I have ever been to. Thank you Kaya Belek!

i went out to kaya for a week , myself ,my partner and our 9 year old daughter ,
at the start when arrivin the reception staff are not very helpful ,we got our keys for our room which was not what we paid for ,we paid for a sea view room ,the room was shabby the bathroom was smelly an the groutin in the bathroom was mouldy and the bathroom smelt of damp , the carpets were stained ,also the furniture was abit tired ,
we called reception an only got another room by paying more money.
there werent many english people there and the week before we got there a english woman was hit an knocked out by a russian man in the lobby an no-one helped her or did anythin !
all the entertainment was for the russians and the germans ,with sexual references an lots of fightin ,they put the english down alot an tried to make fun of the english ,
really wasnt for children at all , infact the entertainment on a whole is very very poor .
the russians were very very rude ,pushed in ,never queued for anything ,my partner is black an my daughter is mixed race they treated them like [-] , any child should not experence that at all ,this was our fourth trip to turkey and have never had a problem before ,
we also stayed at kaya before about four years an it wasnt like that , if you are english i dont recommend you stay at the kaya belek .

I have to disagree with all the negative reviews I have just returned from the most amazing holiday in Turkey - the country is lovely, people are really friendly and the Kaya Belek was lovely. The pool was amazing, the guys on the watersports and the watersports themselves were great. There was initially 7 of us in the party which increased in our 2nd week to 11 - the kids ages ranged from 16 - 9 and they had a wonderful time not being watched by us adults. Our holiday had to be extended as my husband had a burst eardrum and the hotel management were really great in finding us alternative accommodation - would DEFINATELY return. PS. The weather was very very hot but awesome.

By reading these comments before my journey, I was worried that I would struggle to find any other English people to associate with, I would immediately like to clarify that these worries were completely unfounded.
The hotel is impressive from the moment you walk in, with a large open reception area which looks directly out over the beach and pools. On arrival at my room, I was very impressed with the general cleanliness and finish to the hotel, although it can be a long walk to your room down the corridor!
The rooms are impressive, with an effective AC unit and a generally clean and comfortable feel. Once I began to settle into my holiday, I quickly started to notice a lot of British people, the three primary areas that these people were from were London, Newcastle, and East Midlands. Although it is true that there are a lot of Russian people there, this is no major problem, as the majority of these are friendly and happy to speak to you with even limited English!
The facilities at the hotel really are fantastic and I certainly rate them as 5*, there is always somethign to do and the entire grounds are alreadys clean and tidy. It is always very easy to find British people to speak to around the pool bar after the evening meal and around the pool during the daytime.
The two elements of the holiday which stopped me rating it at a perfect 10 were the entertainment team and security. I do not believe that the animation team interacted enough with British people, as the majority of them were Russian and spoke little English. This is of no fault of their own, but perphaps the holiday company should make an effort to make the animation team more accessable to British guests?
Secondly the security are very strict, and can lose their "rag" very easily at night. If any noise is made after 10pm you are quickly being told to "get off site" and it is very intimidating. However, this is nothing to be overly worried about as the English speaking receptionists quickly resolve the problem without any consequence for you. I would say that the problems with security are mainly down to a lack of understanding and communication between guests and the security staff.
Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed my entire holiday, and would certainly consider going back.

The Kaya Belek has good facilities,...

The Kaya Belek has good facilities, in that there is always a bar or food near to you, whether outside or in. The pool area is pleasant and there are plenty of sun loungers and shaded areas. There is a private beach, which looked fine, but I'm not a beach person myself so didn't use it.
The room we were in was ok, but certainly not 5 star, more 3 star. The description on the net and in the Thomson Destinations Brochure said the hotel was recently refurbished, but the room we had didn't look refurbished as there was damage to some wood features and the bath was mouldy in parts. I will try to add pictures to show this. The air con worked fine in our room, although some other guests had problems with theirs and the problems were not fixed from what I could gather.
We went as 2 adults in June and were expecting to have a quiet holiday, however, we were not warned that the hotel is filled with Russians who all have children with them. I would say the Brits were a very low 5% of the guest number. I have a lot of admiration for the Russian people, but I must admit that I was appalled by most of the Russian's (or at least former Soviet Block people) staying alongside us. Firstly their children are extremely unruly and seem to be indulged rather than disciplined. The mealtimes were the most unpleasant experience I have ever encountered, with Russians just pushing into me or pushing me out so they could get at food in the buffet style restaurant. They would grab serving spoons from you and I even got touched up by several of them just cos I was standing in the queue, next to the plates - they just pushed their hands through touching me to get at the plates rather than queue up. I have never seen such rude behaviour in my life. Also I saw some of the Russian women hiding excess food in rather large canvas bags that they all carry around in the restaurant - this is beyond me as you could not starve in this hotel, food was always available somewhere.
Drink available was not the best, in that the beer was low quality and flat, shorts were of extremely poor quality and the wine was only good if it came out of a fresh bottle. I did have experience of being served cloudy wine at least twice, from barrels at the bars.
Also, being non-smokers, my hubby and I like to drink indoors of a night, but found that the hotel just wouldn't use the aircon in the lobby area. We complained to the Thomson rep who said that this was due to electric power shortages or something like it. My hubby pointed out that they had it full blast in the TV viewing room for the Russians and Germans to watch the Euro footies matches, but this didn't seem to matter. The hotel did put it on near the end of our holiday, but that only happened when there was a visiting Tennis Tournament there.
The staff were ok, but to be honest only a very small handful were truly friendly. The A'La Carte Restaurant waiters are really nice and the food in those is very good. The waiters in the main buffet restaurant didn't bother clearing your table (if you actually could find one) when you sat at it. I turned the table cloth over myself several times and my hubby got cutlery etc. The cleaners work hard and do a good job.
Overall, I did enjoy the day time by the pool, but mealtimes were not peaceful or pleasant, the bars were not cool and drink not good, the hotel is clean but the room wasn't good, there wasn't much to do at night and the hotel is NOT on the doorstep of Kadriye and Belek as stated in brochure description. This hotel is certainly NOT 5 star and if you are wanting a peaceful adult only holiday then this isn't for you.

Overall good holiday I went with my husband and my two children aged 7, 10 but there is nothing on a night for them to do also nothing for the adults. Activities are great during the day at the poolside and on the beach but there are lots of Russians............ which are impossible to get on with. The food is great but you have to queue and the Russians push into the queue and are very greedy and take more food than needed leaving you to have to wait longer for the food to be prepared. The staffs at the reception are not very helpful but the entertainment staff were OK. The rooms are nice and very clean and the views from the rooms are great. Overall rating from my opinion would be 3 star not 5 star.

Jun 2008, Mr J Downey

Looking at the previous comments I was quite confident of a great holiday until arriving when we was told we were of 16 British in the hotel out of a capicity of 1000, the rest were Russian. I wish we were told before we went. The hotel is nice and clean and the food is very good. A big part of our holiday is to meet people and have a laugh, what with a hotel of Russian's who I don't think are even capable of a smile and the staff being so miserable this was quite differcult. Obviously we tried to make the holiday as good as we could but was very disapointed.
What else can you say apart from this was a bit of a nothing holiday and will probably deminish from our memory

Jun 2008, Mrs Rachel Garner

We read reviews before we went here and were very aprehensive.........................
There was no need at all!!!
The hotel was lovely!!!
The rooms were kept clean, they were nothing special but far better than greek hotel rooms.
The food well that was great.......... travelling with children 11 & 9 sometimes is a bit of a problem with the food, not here! We all found loads of things we wanted to try every mealtime and we didn't even try the "a la cart" ones.
Animation team well.......................what can I say................... they were fantastic with the kids and with us as well. Can't fault them.
You have a great pool area, and when we went it was never crowded. The beach is great too again not crowded.
We didn't venture from the hotel as we only had a week but never got bored.
The only downside..................... (not the hotels fault) the elusive Thomson rep, never there when she was supposed to be.
Hope you enjoy this hotel as much as we did.

We have just returned from two weeks at the Kaya Belek The first week was fantastic, food lovely, hotel very clean and the entertainment staff excellent, unfortunatly our holiday then took a turn for the worst, four days before we were due to leave we were invaded by a school of wild uncontrolable teenagers, they were placed on our corridor almost every room was taken up by them, we did not get any sleep until 4am and were again woken by them at 7am, they would shout from balconys, throw objects onto our balcony etc etc. I counted the hours to board the plane home. Thomson holiday rep was no where to be found, the teachers and reception done nothing. So if you go check its not a national holiday for Turkey before hand.

A very pleasant holiday overall. A very big spacious hotel with good amenities.
Rooms were quite spacious if not a bit basic.
Plenty of food on the go all day long and available at different areas of the hotel, which was very useful if you were sunbathing by the pool and didn’t want to go into the main restaurant, you could eat at the pool bar.
Good choice of food at all times and every other night in the restaurant was a theme night.
Definite recommend booking into the a la carte restaurant, food was delicious and it was quite nice to have waiter service, compared to self service buffet at usual meal times.
The spa area is very lovely also if you are wanting to be pampered! The Turkish bath is a must!
There was not much in the closest resort, but was worth going into if you wanted sky sports bars, as there were 2 the Irish bar and the Roman bar {they don’t have sky sports in the hotel} there’s also a few shops , chemists and bars if you wanted a wander round from the complex. Taxis are cheap enough, or there’s buses or a train in!
Overall a nice relaxing holiday.

I stayed at the Kaya Belek in August 2005 and I must say that it was the best holiday I have had. The resort is nice and clean and tidy and I found the locals very friendly.
The hotel was excellent we were staying All Inclusive and the choices of drinks and food were amazing. The best thing about this hotel is the entertainment and the entertainment staff it was excellent something for everyone and really good fun.
The staff worked loads of hours before and after the show and we always pleasant and made an effort to talk to you.
An excellent holiday at a excellent resort and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a good fun holiday in the sun and we are returning August 2008 with Thomson holidays and I can’t wait.
