Apex European Hotel

Room wasn't ready when we arrived over hour after check-in time. Staff did offer us free drinks while we were waiting. Front desk was very polite. Room faced Haymarket Terrace was noisy, even with window tightly shut. This was nothing compared to the annoyance that followed: One day housekeeping decided to throw away our plastic water bottles which we left in a bag containing fresh fruit. This was a great hotel for many reasons. The rooms were modern and comfortable with lovely toiletries and nice condiments. The restaurant served delicious food and at a reasonable price (the set menu of three courses was £17). The staff were all friendly and helpful. I would most definitely stay here again. The only slight downside was noise at night. My room was on the first floor and I could hear some street noise but it definitely didn't ruin my night's sleep. Usually hotels make sure they look nice from the outside and have a nice reception area, but then the room themselves disappoint somewhat. The Apex European seems to have opted for the opposite strategy: a totally unpromising building from the outside and a tiny reception area without any frills, but then surprisingly well-appointed rooms. Me and my wife stayed in the Apex european hotel in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the train station. On arrival we were greeted by a very helpful polite and friendly staff member at reception, room was immaculate and some very nice touches are included such as bath robes, slippers and excellent tea/coffee facilities. Stayed here overnight in Dec 2007. Nice modern room and friendly, helpful staff. Only down side was, my room was really hot and when I opened the window I could not sleep because of the traffic noise. The location is really handy for Haymarket Station and its only a 10 minute walk to Princes Street. Check-in and out was really fast.

We stayed at the hotel for a weekend break and thought the deal was excellent value for money .The rooms were comfortable and very clean and the staff very helpful . Their is traffic noise but it is located in a busy city road and parking is a problem however this did not detract too much from a very enjoyable weekend . We would definately use the hotel again but perhaps travel to the city by train

We selected the Apex Euopean Hotel from a travel web-site for our first visit to Edinburgh. Not being familiar with the city, we selected the hotel off the web by location (to attractions) and price. We were not disappointed in the least with our choice. The hotel had just been updated and the room, while small, was contemporary, very clean and comfortable. The staff was absolutely GREAT! This hotel was really comfortable. We were upgraded to a superior room, very nice with slippers and robes. Also includes iron board and iron in each room. Really comfortable bed
