We took our two girls aged 5 and 3...
9 / 10
May 2007, Miss N.A Willard

We took our two girls aged 5 and 3 and this was our first family holiday together.
We chose Turkey as it was far enough away to have nice warm weather but not so far that our 3 year old would make the cabin crew on the flight want to resign!
The flight out was wonderful and the ease of getting from the plane, to baggage reclaim and then on to our transfer was 10/10, but the length of the coach trip to the hotel was a bit too long at 90-120 mins with the girls.
The hotel was set amongst well kept gardens and it was refreshing to see spread out instead of up. If you are looking for a giant concrete sugar lump of a hotel covered in union jack towels then you are going to be very disappointed.
The hotel was clean and tidy and we loved spending time there. The hotel has two entrances and both have a gate/barrier which is manned, and wrist bands need to be shown before entering. This reassured us that only hotel guests would be wondering in and out.
We had a family room, which consisted of twin beds and a set of bunk beds. Not ideal, but it was fine for us. The bathroom was a good size and we could all get in there to do things at the same time. The maid service was excellent our beds were made and the room was cleaned and tidied every day (towels and linen twice a week I think).
The restaurant including its staff is second to none. The food is buffet style and so varied you could stay for two weeks and not eat the same thing twice. The service we received from the staff was fantastic and our girls actually enjoyed sitting down to eat.
This praise is extends to every aspect of the hotels catering (ice-cream, cake, late breakfast and evening snacks).
Going at the start of the season meant that we had no sunbed issues. However, I could imagine that in the height of the season things could get quite busy.
All the staff had uniforms which was great, with the exception of the entertainment staff who in my opinion should have at least had a name badge. The day time entertainment was ok, but nothing to shout about. But the kids mini disco and evening entertainment was much better.
The time and effort that the staff put in is commendable, they were the last people we would see before going to bed and, the first people to say good morning to us. One evening we played bingo which we would never do at home, and to our surprise we won the full house. The prizes we won were excellent and I would recommend buying a couple of tickets and joining in.
We did have issues with the hotel photographer and we were not impressed with the State of the miniclub equipment, but even these couple of things would not put us off going back there again.
The beach is nice but you do need shoes to wear in the water (especially children), but don’t waste luggage space and bring them with you, buy some from a local shop for a few quid and chuck them before going home.
The local shops are great for souvenirs, and the locals are really friendly, but don't forget to haggle for anything that hasn't got a price tag. Be prepared to walk away if the price is not right. You can always get it elsewhere!!
The Blue Lagoon is a short walk down the road and we managed it with both girls in about 30 minutes, you only pay for kids 7+ to get in and it is about £1.25 each. We hired a pedelo for about £10 per hour and the girls even had life jackets. We saw loads of wild life and the girls loved it.
The highlight was seeing a turtle up close and personal. We were so fascinated that we forget to take a picture. Oh well!!!
The Weather was perfect for us, not too hot, but hot enough to go in the sea and the pool.
All in all we had a great time, a few hiccups along the way but highly recommend Olu Deniz and Olu Deniz Resort hotel.

Feb 2007, Mrs A Marino

We went with a large group. Accommodation was lovely, the gardens well kept.
The food was plentiful and a massive variety. We put on so much weight. I was the first to queue up for afternoon cake on the beech.
The staff and the guests were lovely. The pool area is really packed. But it didn’t really matter as the beach is on your door step.
The evening entertainment is great; our teenage boys loved the atmosphere and wondered from hotel to town and beech on their own.
The area is so friendly and safe. I loved it.
Turkey is fantastic and Olu Deniz is beautiful.
I would like to try other parts of it, but worried that other parts aren’t so fantastic...

We had a good time. We love going Olu...

Feb 2007, clare2004uk

We had a good time. We love going Olu Deniz, we have been now for 6 years and are planning to go back again.
This was the 1st time we had stayed at this hotel.
When we pulled up it looked great. The rooms where great and next door to each other. We had a double and single room, they were nice clean and had enough room. They were a bit dark but that didn’t matter too much.
The food was great something for everyone; I am fussy and found something to eat most nights we did eat out a couple of nights. Food was always fresh and hot we also like how they cooked something’s in front of you.
The pool - well, when we went I think the hotel was full and the was no sun beds most days, some times we went down at 6am trying to get a bed but they had all gone. There were kids everywhere, with flippers on, kicking you and on lilos trying to drown you when you where trying to relax in the pool, so by the 2nd week, we just went to a private beach not the one the hotel sends you to because the bus was always full but we go every year.
The games in the pool where great fun and loved learning the dance they did every morning
Entertainment - was good during the day but had to get 2 the night show early or u would not see anything there were never enough seats even round the bar we went out after dinner most nights.
When we stayed the shows where ok, but not as good as we thought but when they got pros in doing Turkish dancing and hip hop dancing they where great, even though we couldn’t see much.
Watch out for some of the waiters, I could not get one of them to stay away. I felt like I was being watched while eating my dinner, but I just took no notice. It worked in the end but most of the staff where friendly and a laugh
This is a nice hotel but we would never go there at high season, there just is not enough room.
Olu Deniz itself is fantastic and love going there and miss it when we come home :( and the people are so friendly.
Try all the trips they are great the best is paragliding, it’s so much fun and the jeep safari is a right laugh.

We went to this hotel at the end of...
10 / 10
Dec 2006, Mrs Lisa Lowndes

We went to this hotel at the end of June last year until the middle of July. This is our 4th visit to Olu Deniz but our first time at this hotel.
What a beautiful place to go on holiday. The hotel was fantastic and plenty to do for the children my daughter and son, age 10 and 7 loved every minute and were never board.
We all had a fantastic time, I even took my friend with us who has never been to Turkey before and they to had a great time, so much so we are all going back next year, with even more of our friends. I think there is 24 of us all together going back in July next year.
We are all hoping to buy shares in the place we were that happy with it.
All jokes aside, the hotel is spotless; food great, plenty of snacks throughout the day, never went hungry. Free ice cream all day for the children, great entertainment, extremely friendly staff, gym, jaccuzi, sauna, pedal bikes, separate children's play area, tennis courts, I could go on and on.
We was all perfectly happy and will return again and again. And if you were there when we were, you will have seen our fantastic powder pipe now that was entertainment itself. You would be crazy to give it a miss.
Our only downfall was it is to far away from Hisaronu village, we love the village and the entertainment at night up there is great and we have alot of friends there.

I truly cannot believe why anyone...
9 / 10
Nov 2006, Mrs J A Kennedy

I truly cannot believe why anyone would give this resort 2 or 3 out of 10. Were these people staying at the same hotel? I went there on honeymoon and to be quite honest would go back again year after year. There were plenty of activities throughout the day and the staff were so friendly. The room was kept spotless by the chalet maids and they always had a smile and time to wish you a good morning. The only problem we had is that the entertainment was a little too loud but we were near to the complex and we are not really night time people.
I have only come on this web site to see if I can book direct and noticed that most of the reviews were excellent. Maybe the people that marked it down were expecting a little too much

Oct 2006, Miss Maisie Milton Newland

Olu Deniz Resort Hotel is a fantastic place to go for a holiday, I have been there twice now and I very enjoy it and me and my family are going to go there next year it is that good.
The food is fantastic with great food on offer. All the staff at the Resort are very helpful and very nice people. There are a lot of things to do in and out of Olu Deniz.
Fethiye is a very nice place to visit with the market on every week. I just think the Resort is a very good and enjoyable place to visit.

We yet again had a wonderful holiday...

Oct 2006, Mrs E C Bolton

We yet again had a wonderful holiday at this hotel. We have 2 children who were more than happy to return and meet friends who they had made last year. In fact it was amazing to see how many people had come back again! I cannot fault this hotel at all.
Our room was quite spacious but not as much as last year. There is always food available that would keep anybody happy. We didn’t have to get up early to reserve sun beds, it was just a really relaxed atmosphere. The resort itself is quite compact and easy to get around.
The hotel does have a private beach on the lagoon for which they provide free transport, this beach is ideal for children as there are no waves. However, I would recommend visiting the nature reserve part for which there is a very small fee. This is also suitable for children and it is absolutely amazing.

The holiday was fantastic and so was...

Sep 2006, Miss H Wright

The holiday was fantastic and so was the weather. When we got there we where taken strait to our room. The room was nice but not the best. Me and my family went to the evening entertainment later that night, the place was pretty and all lit up and the entertainment was funny but some parts weren’t appropriate for the younger children.
The pool was very nice and not to crowded, the sun beds went quickly and by about 10 they had all gone. The food was lovely and there was a big variety and lots of times to eat in the day.
The hotel was a 3 min walk from the beach and the markets. Overall the holiday was very nice and I would go there again anytime.

This was our first time in Turkey and...
9 / 10
Sep 2006, Mrs S Hogg

This was our first time in Turkey and first time all inclusive. We were a bit worried about how clean the room would be and also if it would be big enough for two adults, a sixteen year old and an eleven year old. We were pleasantly surprised. There was plenty of room for all our clothes. The beds were very comfortable and clean.
There was a large bathroom with both bath and shower with plenty of room for all the girls’ hair products and make up. The maid came in everyday and cleaned the room, made/changed the bed and brought clean towels.
The food was great. Breakfast was a choice of continental, cereal, beans, toast any type of egg, e.g hard or soft boiled, scrambled, fried or omelettes, plenty of fresh fruit and bread with butter, chocolate spread, jams etc. Pancakes were cooked to order. If you missed breakfast you could get fresh fruit and ice-cream or burger and chips or toasted sandwiches.
Lunches were great. It was so nice sitting outside, on the terrace in the shade enjoying a leisurely lunch with a glass of Rose. There was plenty of choice whether you wanted a hot or cold meal. The salads were great and I never had the same thing twice in the two weeks we were there.
Evening meals were also brilliant. The food was always fresh and the chiefs came out and removed food that had been out for a while replacing it with freshly cooked food. This meant that whatever time you ate between 7.30 and 10pm the food was freshly cooked and plenty of it.
There was various snacks throughout the day until 7pm. My favourite were the pizza cooked outside by the pool. The waiters and the chiefs were fantastic and always helpful and friendly. There was a good choice of soft drinks. The beer tended to be fizzy and not that good but the vodka was fine.
The pool was big enough but the area around the pool was far too small. There was the usual problem of people reserving sun beds and by 10am they had all been taken. The staff were aware of this and did start to remove towels off beds that hadn’t been used for an hour.
As the pool got busy we often went onto the beach which was right outside the hotel. It was great just being able to pick up your towel and book and go onto the beach, no packing up bags with drinks etc as this was provided free on the beach. At 4pm cakes and biscuits would be brought down to the beach.
You had to pay for sun beds but we just lay on the sand as most of the time we would be cooling of in the sea. The pedalos and kayaks were free to hire as were snorkels and flippers. The beach was sand at the top but turned to pebbles as shingles as you got towards the sea. The sea had no real shallow area for small children as it shelved quickly to deep water. It was lovely and blue and just the right temperature, but was hard to get in and out of due to the steepness, pebbles and the sea was a bit rough as it hit the beach area.
I would not recommend the sea to none swimmers but we loved it. The hotel also have a private beach on the Lagoon with a free shuttle bus twice a day. We only did this once but we felt the beach at the hotel was better.
The entertainment team were really friendly and funny. I enjoyed the water gym in the pool with Betty. The entertainment was outside in the amphitheatre which did get busy. The show was an hour each night. Some nights it was good but some were silly and made no sense at all.
We met some great people and had two really good trips; a boat trip and a jeep safari. Both of these were brilliant. The boat trip was 10am until 7pm with lunch included. We stopped at eight Islands and was allowed time to jump off and swim. All for ten pounds.
The jeep safari was also fantastic and would really recommend it. Again a full day out with lunch and visits to a Trout farm, carpet factory, one of the worlds largest gorges, mud baths, beach all this for £10. It also gave you a chance to see the villages up in the mountains.
The town centre is a ten minute stroll away. There are some shops on the way and at first they try to get you to come in and look but once they got to know you they were friendly and not so pushy.

The hotel went quiet around midnight with just a few people around the bar. The teenagers tended to go of into the centre to a night club. We would never have let our sixteen year old do this at home but it seemed very safe and just about every teenager went so they could walk together. A lot of the staff from the hotel went as well and kept an eye on them.
We all had a great time. The children loved having the freedom to eat whenever they wanted, we enjoyed a good rest. We all had a great time.

I read reports about this hotel...
3 / 10
Sep 2006, terence riley

I read reports about this hotel before we went but Thomas cook assured us there were no such problems ie cold food chicken every day, undercooked eggs. Well unfortunately for us they were all true. It’s a shame really because the hotel is nice.
We ate out for every meal after 2 days. Angels across the road is very good, my advice, save your money, there are much better places to go.

Olu Deniz Resort Hotel overall was...
6 / 10
Sep 2006, Mr B Patel

Olu Deniz Resort Hotel overall was very good but for a 4* hotel I would have preferred the staff to be more professional (I will come to this later) and treat their entire customer base equally.
We paid the extra to get the so called superior rooms with a sea view based in the Konak block. The room were spacious but they were extremely dark and there was distinct lack of sea view from most rooms due to the pine trees and other foliage obscuring the views from the windows. The facilities within the room were adequate.
Most customers in the Konak block felt we got a bit of a raw deal as the facilities were slightly poor - no ice in the bar, drinks constantly running out, takes a genius to work the draft beer dispenser. Even with these complaints I preferred staying in the Konak block as it was peaceful and we had our own two very little swimming pools and a small bar with no kid running around.
This brings me to the swimming pools in the Konak block. They are not intended for swimming but just for cooling down. The view from the bar/swimming pool area is awesome. It overlooks the main hotel complex and you get a magnificent view of the sea and the surrounding mountains.
Food & drink - can not complain 10 out of 10. Never went hungry. It was of a very high standard and the choices were very good. The deserts are especially very good. Did get a bit bored with the food toward the end of the two weeks. What can I say about the drinks - endless supply of the local drinks? You do have to pay for the international drinks so watch out when ordering a cocktail as the prices are extortionate.
Facilities and entertainment - The overall facilities of the hotel were excellent. The night time entertainment I felt was not aimed at the children and if after 11pm it did nor seem to get any better.
The main beach is only a two minute walk away and it is well worth a visit. Be warned it gets very hot so try going early morning or late evening. There is a free bus service to the Blue Lagoon run twice a day. I was a bit disappointed with the Blue Lagoon as with all its natural beauty why did it have to be spoilt by so many of deck chairs and umbrellas. You can not walk without bumping or falling into one.
Local facilities - local bars and restaurants seem a bit more expensive in comparison to Marmaris. Not a lot of choices when it comes to shopping. Arrange a day trip to Fettitya market.
Trips - Plenty to do such as boat trips, jeep (or truck or quad bike) safari, Dalyan (mud bath), Pamukkale, para gliding or para sailing plus much more.
Would I go back to this hotel? - NO. Why not:
First complaint - We were very rudely asked by a waiter to move tables midway through our meal one night so that the manager of the hotel could sit at our table.
Obviously, I refused to move and explained that as a paying customer I had more right to be at the table then the manager. The waiter persisted and I just told him to go away followed by a few explicatives. Ten minutes later the waiter returned and apologised.
Second complaint - I witnessed at least on two occasions where under aged children with green bands being served alcohol.
Third complaint - It seemed that the waiters and some hotel staff were giving preferential treatment to the good looking females.
Olu Deniz as a resort is a very beautiful place and well worth a visit but I would not return to a hotel where there is such a lack of customer care.

We researched this hotel and others...
9 / 10
Sep 2006, Mr C Webb

We researched this hotel and others nearby on Holiday Watchdog before we went... and we weren't disappointed!
We went as a couple, but there were also a lot of families with children who were extremely well catered for (so a fairly lively pool etc.). We were lucky in that we got a sea view room (not suitable for people with mobility problems as you have to climb a bit of a hill to get to the room). I'm not going to write a long and rambling description of the food as others on this site have done so already - suffice to say it was excellent and I didn't suffer from an upset stomach once. There was so much choice and it was so nice that I didn't get bored at all. Being very hot it’s important to eat plenty of calories, and unlimited ice creams were a definite bonus here! The hotel is on the beach front, and a nice touch is that they have a chilled water dispenser for your use actually on the beach - particularly nice as easier to keep hydrated when you don't have to keep on sipping from a bottle of warm water.
What stuck me was the amount of other guests that I spoke to who were returning for their second or more time (for one family it was their 7th visit to this hotel!). Also I didn't hear anyone complaining whilst there, everyone was very positive about the place and having a great time - which is not surprising because the place is really well run and the staff make a huge effort.
I'm not usually a fan of cabaret type shows but we went to several of the evening shows here which were varied and a lot of fun. Excursions nearby are also good value - for example we went on a "12 islands boat trip" which was a nice day out on a boat with a water slide built into it (or like me just jump off the roof into the deep blue water). This came with a chicken/fish lunch and cost about £7 each. We also did paragliding - just make sure you use a reputable company with qualified pilots. Surprisingly relaxing!
In short - we had a great holiday staying at this hotel!
