Oct 2008, Mr C Tolley

very good hotel although it was not the one we booked into. We went as a group of six booked into Sun City but upon arrival we were split up, four of us having to go to the Olu Deniz Resort hotel, and at 2am we werent very happy. This was all sorted out through our Thompsons Rep but this took two days. It ended up that everyone stayed at the Olu Deniz Resort which we all though was the better of the two anyway - we still had access to Sun City's facilities so i suppose we had the best of both worlds, but even then our rooms were all at different parts of the hotel grounds. after booking the holiday over a year ago, there is no excuse for this. Gardens are amazing, sitting around the pool can be a bit noisy but afterall it is a family hotel. the worse part was hearing the annoying 'Good morning' song at 10am everyday. Entertainment could have been a bit better as of an evening there wasnt much to do, you can only walk around the resort so much without getting board. Food was ok, plenty of choice but it was all the same after a few nights. Theres lots of great little places outside the hotel to eat out so it wasnt too bad - they do great full english breakfasts. Scenery was amazing too, lovely beach that went on for over a mile and the hotel had its own private beach around the corner in the lagoon - great for relaxing. Staff were friendly especially the photographers. there were however alot of complaints from the patrons saying that it has gone so much downhill since new management but i couldnt fault it, apart from the annoying overbooking and seperation at the beginning. Would i go back? probably, as long as we are gauranteed to have our party staying together.

Sep 2008, Mr G BAGNALL

let me say straight off ,that this is a comparison revue !as we as a party of (all adults& family)fivebooked this hotel again on the strength of our all round satisfaction & pleasure! everything that this 4 star all inclusive hotel offered was beyond reproach.the layout of the grounds,(absolutely beautiful)the staff(superb,friendly & so hardworking),food -excellent! SO we knew we MUST return.What a change!!!The hotel had changed hands (this year)& not to it,s advantage. All the old staff dismiissed - food less imaginitive (tho very adequette on quality -but some what boring)Biggest complaint ? management!!!! SO many people double booked -or split apart -or put in that awful annexe across the road & up that ghastly (steep) hill.there appears to have been a reduction on staffing levels ? yet I hasten to add, not in the friendlyness& cheerful willingness of most ( if not all)of the cleaaners,bar staff waiters&gardeners now employed .It is through there efforts that we give 7/10-management take note& copy! I give a VERY special note of thanks to ismail salmon at the relax pool for his unstinting cheerfulness & work at keeping all & every one happy.there has crept in a little sense of under performance& top heavy management overload,we shall NOT be returning in 2009! not one member of management saw us of or wished us a safe journey home !(as we noticed at the other hotel pickups)-sad& a BIG mistake!!! we love Turkey & the Turkish people-could it be -this is NO LONGER a Turkish run hotel? George Bagnall -a little sad{for now}

Having been to this hotel many times...

Sep 2008, Mrs J Hughes

Having been to this hotel many times before, we returned for my friend's 60th birthday in Sept 08. The hotel was booked in January but, as many people have reported, we also arrived at 5am in the morning to be told that there was no availability. The rooms were paid for from the previous day so should have been available at 2pm (some 15 hours earlier)! We were given no alternative but to go to an another, lower standard, non AI hotel around the corner where we were finally found 1 twin and 1 double room (we booked 2 x twin rooms). As we were clearly not the only people this had happened to, we felt obliged to get up at 8am and return to the hotel to ensure that we received a room that day. Our rooms were finally made available at 1pm (some 23 hours late!). In defence of the hotel staff, they were very nice and when we finally did get to our rooms, they had left a bottle of wine and fruit in each room and didn't charge for the safe (although interestingly they called a present from them!). In many respects the resort has improved. There is a very nice new Relax Pool (Adults only) and the rooms have been redecorated and now have a mini fridge with bottles of water replenished daily and tea and coffee making facilities. This has, however, been offset by a DRAMATIC DECLINE in the quality of the food. In addition to this, the bar now opens until 2am which appears to have attracted some quite large groups of people and can lead to drunken behaviour around the pool area in the early hours. Given the fact that the bar opens at 10am, it would be better if it closed at midnight as it used to and the savings in this area put towards better quality food in the restaurant. The new owners of this hotel need to consider the changes that they have made and the customer feedback and act very quickly or they will find that the loyal following that the previous owners built up will be lost!

We selected this hotel after reading...

Sep 2008, Mr S Brewster

We selected this hotel after reading many favourable reviews on-line. When we arrived we were told by reception staff that we had to go to their sister hotel about 400 yards down the road. I was assured that this other hotel Sun City was a lovely hotel and that indeed we were lucky to be going there. Apparently Olu Deniz Resort Hotel and Sun City Hotel are now all under the same management. On arrival I feared the worst as it was far from impressive. There were arguments in progress and many irate people at the reception. Our party consisted of 4 couples. We were shown to 3 rooms and told that 2 of the couples would have to share a room. This started the alarm bells ringing and we protested that we had booked 4 rooms and that is what we required. The staff then kept repeating that it was only for one night and that our proper rooms would be ready the next morning. Unhappy with this but dog tired at 1am we agreed. On entering the room I was hit by a god-awful smell. I switched on the light to see the ceiling and walls were severely affected by damp. This room was unbelievably grubby. Now I've stayed in some pretty dinghy hotels but this took the biscuit. Very soon the others in my party were at my door with similar complaints. These rooms were not fit to inhabit. We took a collective decision to return the keys to reception. Staff were pleading with us that it was only for one night and that tomorrow it would all be sorted out. We were appalled that they could expect anyone to sleep in these rooms. We decided as we'd booked the Olu Deniz Resort Hotel that we were going back there and demanding rooms of an acceptable standard. They told us these rooms were the only ones available to us and even offered to have them cleaned ! We bedded down for the night in reception (much to their annoyance) and refused to budge. By way of an apparent miracle 3 rooms came available at aound 4 am and we were told these were family rooms we could use but must hand the keys back at 11am and be relocated. We found these rooms were acceptable. Not great and certainly not 4 star. We decided that we were not giving them back at 11 and told the staff so. They had little choice but to allow us to keep them. All in all a nightmare start to the holiday. The hotel itself wasn't too bad. We were all-inclusive. The food was ok if a little repetative and we ate out quite often. The all-inclusive bar was excellent. Ordering as many drinks as you liked was not a problem. Don't be put off going to Olu Deniz by this as it is a beautiful resort and the Turks are lovely people. Just be warned of the problems you might face when booking this particular hotel.

arrived only to be told that the hotel was overbooked and we had to stay in a 3 star hotel for 1 night. next day we were picked up and taken to yet another hotel again. we were treated appallingly. the food was diabolical and the dining room a disgrace. The rooms were old fashioned and dark and dismal. Reception staff were uncomunicative and the whole place was worse than a Butlins Holiday Camp. How this could be classed as a 4 star hotel i have no idea.
When checking our pick up and flight were on time 24 hours before we were told that our airline had gone bust and also the tranfer company. Luckily Sarah a First Choice rep helped us out and confirmed that our flight was OK and the tranfers were still on.
Clearly the staff have no idea what they are talking about. It was the most miserable and upsetting holiday i have ever had.
If it hadnt been for the beauty of the area outside I would seriously have considered coming home within the first 24 hours.
I have travelled all over the world and have never been treated so badly, most of our time being spent moving hotels and rooms.Never recomend this hotel to anyone. Little short of a 2 star.

Awful !!!!
I cannot understand the positive comments being made by previous travellers to this hotel. We were given disgusting rooms on arrival (damp, dirty & not as shown in publicity), and only after staging a sit in at the reception (8 of us) were we given something of a suitable standard. Don't get me wrong we are not snobs just wanting what we paid for. What we had was Butlins style & I'm not joking. The hotel has taken on a adjacent complex called Sun Valley & this was a shambles. Two couples with a young baby arrived and was asked to share a room altogether after booking seperately.
We constantly witnessed major disputes at reception during our stay & shared our experiences with other guests who agreed they had had similar treatment.
We understand that the Hotel has been taken over by new owners & they obviously overbook their complex.
Staff = good, Food=OK, location OK

10 / 10
Sep 2008, Mrs S Gordon

Just been back for my 4th Visit (2nd this year). Stayed in this hotel for 3 weeks this time. Had a fantastic time yet again. Our group size was 10 again this time and we took my brother his wife and children and it was their first visit to Turkey, the hotel and the all inclusive concept. We and they absolutely had a great time. The food was always cooked properly and tasty and Tropical night was a showpiece. The animation team worked so hard and Emin and Ramco are excellent role models for the children. Emin is well respected by his team and that is clear to see. He engages well with the customers, works to delight them and is an true asset to the hotel. Having been in May it was obvious to me that Ramco has developed in his job so much. Again the hotel was well organised, the reception staff were super, especially, Cheedam and Mustafa and the Reservations team Erdogan and Ali were very charming and helpful. I am not sure how the hotel would cope without their experience. The Operations Manager is approachable and helpful but guests must remember he is not superman! but a man who is accessible to the guest when required and will works hard to ensure the hotel is a success since the takeover by new management. I can see some guests are not happy but this is mostly about the fact that staff from last year have left. I have said this before, what are you paying for? a holiday or to see the same faces every year? It saddens me to see staff have moved on etc, however, I am on holiday with my family to ensure they have a good time and I am always positive wherever I am. I believe it is good to meet new people and experience change. Turkish people are so very friendly and want to please so what is the problem? Like May, the only thing I found disappointing was the moaning holiday makers in reception complaining about wanting their ice-cream on a cone (the hotel sometimes gave these lovely choc ice slices). Have the English lost all sense of what is important in life? Its bloody ice cream!!! Anyway, I met lovely bar staff especially Filiz and Mustafa from the Olive Garden and Sinat from the snack bar was so lovely to the children. People must remember that although we are paying customers, we are in a foreign country with a different culture and manners and a smile are well know as great tools to use all over the world. Also how sad is it to listen to parents complaining about all sorts of things in front of their children!!! If I have a problem in any situation I tend to go off and discuss in privately. But how surprised was i to see grown adults throwing their weight around and moaning in front of their children on matters their children may not have even noticed! Of course their kids then spent the whole day in the pool gossiping and moaning - God help us!!! My advice to anyone who only ever wants an ice-cream on a cone, who wants chips with everything, or who feels it's ok to demand pork in a country that does not eat it, then they should either stay at home or go to an English resort. That way, those of us people who are interested in having a happy time with their Children and families, who like to meet new people, who like to soak up the Turkish culture and cuisine can concentrate on doing so.

I have just returned from this...
10 / 10
Aug 2008, albert123

I have just returned from this gorgeous hotel set in the middle of mountains and only 2 minutes away from a clear blue sea. I can safely say this is one of the most beautiful, fun and favourite places I have been to.
Before my family and I, went to Olu Deniz resort hotel we read some poor reports on the hotel which at one point led to us trying to change hotels. However we are so glad we couldn’t:
Pools: 10/10 There where several pools as well as an over 16’s pool, indoor pool (with jets), a relax pool, two baby pool’s and a main pool. Being a fan of the pool myself, I was worried about the size of the main pool; however it is just right for the amount of people at the hotel. The sun beds around the pool are quite close together however it wasn’t ever a problem.
Food: 7/10 I personally didn’t like the food very much, there for I lived on chips for the two weeks staying at the hotel. However in the mornings there was a chef cooking fresh omelette’s and pancakes which where really nice. Also at lunch there was a snack bar in the olive garden, cooking burgers, hotdogs and pizzas (as well as food in the restaurant). In the evenings there was normally a BBQ or fajitas being cooked which most people in the hotel liked and if not there was a normal buffet. Also there was ice-cream available from 1-3 and a fresh bread maker in the early evening (about 5/6 o’clock)
Staff: 10/10 I guarantee that the entertainment staff will know your name after two days of being at the hotel. They are so friendly and that is including the bar and restaurant staff, which seem to always be awake despite their long hours.
Scenery: 10/10 What can I say; Olu Deniz resort hotel has some of the most beautiful scenery, everything is green and bright and it is set right in the middle of the mountains. There is an olive garden and large huts filled with beanie bags. Also there is a 2min walk up a small hill to some of the hotel rooms it is a beautiful walk full of plants and garden swings ect. The beach was a 2 minute walk
Hotel Room: 9/10 the room was bright and right above the main office with TV’s and air-conditioning. There was a balcony also. Some people we met where complaining about the walk to some of their hotel rooms due to them being on the other side of the complex however the walk was peaceful with beautiful scenery. There was plenty of wardrobe space as well as a large bathroom and coat-hangers.
Overall it is my favourite holiday resort with plenty of things to do including a market and a lovely blue lagoon. I will defiantly go there again! 10/10

This is our first trip to Turkey and...
7 / 10
Aug 2008, Mrs Jacqueline Westbrook

This is our first trip to Turkey and doing all inclusive. Went with 5 families, had 6 teenagers with us of varying ages. I have never before written on a site like this but having read the reviews good and bad I thought I would add my opinion. Hotel location was fab being so near to beach ( very shingly, hard to get in and out of sea!) Hotel staff very nice and helpful. With 18 of us it would have been very difficult to get together around main pool, but fortunately we discovered a pool around the back of the olive garden which was like having our own pool! the cafe by this pool was brilliant and staff were lovely, some of us ate there instead of the hotel on occasion. Now to the accommodation, our rooms were very small, dark and basic, we were supposed to have a double room with room for two child beds, our room only just fitted the double bed, bath room very basic only a shower and very dark, our teenage daughters room was similar, not what we expected of a 4 star hotel, also very noisy at night, as we were near the pool. They did offer to change our rooms but as we were only there for a week we used ear plugs and stayed put as a lady I had spoken to at dinner whose room was at the other end of the complex said hers was similar. Some of our party had good maid service but some of us did not, but basically clean. Very small fridge in room but didn't work very well. I think we were in the older accommodation as there were rooms that looked much more modern, so it is a bit hit and miss on what you get. Food was ok, nothing special and not much variety, mainly salads, hot food varied a little each night, very little fruit which suprised us it was all melon and grapes; hard to get a table together if you didn't go into the restaurant at 7.30pm on the dot and also if you went late, choice was more limited particularly with puddings. Air conditioning was switched off in restaurant at times and also in the foyer which made it uncomfortable especially waiting for coach home, as it was very hot while we were there.
Overall had a great holiday with all our friends in great location, but would choose a different hotel as the facilities were more like a 3 star rather than a 4 and many people I spoke to felt the same.

Aug 2008, Miss J Hyde

went to this hotel in 2002 been every year since.
every year i come back loving the place even more.
the food is great. i am a very fussy eater but never had any problem getting at least two options i could eat. the dining room is clean and the staff have always been very helpful and polite.
the bar and staff have been excellent every year.
my brother and dad were very sceptical about turkey and me and mum finally persuaded them to come with us last year and they loved it and will be returning with us again this september.
the surronding area is of outstanding beauty and steeped in history (for history lovers) and tops that of anywhere i have previously visited in europe.
i recommend any of the trips available as you always return to the hotel having had a really fab day. i recommend paragliding (reaction company the best) boat trips, mud baths, saklikent gorge and turkish night in the ghost town.
the grounds of the hotel are very well kept and all the rooms are set in blocks in beautiful gardens.
from the moment you arrive till you leave all the staff are helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
i'm now 22 and as i've been going here since i was 16 i have seen what it is like for an adult and a teenager and this hotel has plenty to offer for all ages.
i know so many people who return to this hotel year after year surely that is a good recommendation.
as for the bad reviews of this hotel i can only say what are you looking for? perfection is a hard thing to achieve when trying to cater for all nationalities and ages. but in my opinion this hotel comes very close to being perfect for everyone.
i would recommend this hotel to everyone. if you go don't forget to take a walk up the beach front for an "ali g's" kebab, best kebab ever!!
p.s who sacked junior he can be moody but we love him!!!

Aug 2008, Mrs S Price

What can I say, before going on our trip I was a bit nervous after reading some of the comments on this site. However, when we got there it was lovely, the staff were very helpful and the animation team were great trying to keep all ages entertained.
Ramco, Serko, Karen Ayr and the others were great.
We went with our 5 year old daughter and she had a brilliant time. I would agree with some other comments that the food wasnt that wonderful but it was plentiful, but it is a bit of a mad rush at 7.30pm when it opens for dinner.
There is plenty for people to do if they want to take part Crazy Darts with Ramco boules or the shooting, but in that heat all you want to do is lie by the pool.
The mini-club disco is cheesy but just go with the flo you are on holiday and unfortunately my daughter conned us in to buying it so we have had it playing pratically non stop since we returned!!!!!
The pool can get very busy as is expected during the school holidays.
The rooms were lovely and confortable and kept clean my daughter especially liked it when our maid put flowers and patterns on the bed.
This was our first trip to Turkey and we are now looking at returning next year.
