Looking at comments,i think this hotel is slighty over-rated,and maybe reviews have been based on the actual holiday people had in es-cana
from purely based on a hotel review, its just worth the 3 star
PLUS POINTS:
very clean and tidy with some half decent entertainment throughout the day/night
pool is spacious, plenty of beds for sept, although the busy months this might be a problem
rooms almost cleaned daily (not on thursday) with new towels everyday
seemed quite secure hotel, with cctv, and safe deposit boxes if needed
Very nice ice cream cornets, and only 1.40 euros
reasonably priced drinks
Near to the sea
Good airconditioning (you couldnt control the temp tho)
MINUS POINTS:
unfortunetly for me anyway, there were far too many bad points
Rooms were on the small side,if you had 2 adults, and 2 kids,it would be a nightmare
we had 2 double beds (gods knows why as there were only us 2 adults in there),a baby cot for the little un,and we also had a a fridge...we were left with hardly any room left, and they were quite noisy
The sunbeds were the most uncomfortable beds i have ever had the pleasure to sit on,a lot of guest bought li-los to overcome this
The food got a bit tiresome, and a week was enough, there was little choice for younger children, unless you like to feed them chips everyday (a few potatoes and veg each would have been nice)
On first arriving,we had no cot in our room,it took 3 requests, and eventually a stroppy receptionist dealt with it as she could she i was getting very frustrated (it was 7.30pm by the time it was delivered, and that was after arriving at noon)
Found that a lot of guests would leave their towels on the best beds and dissappear for most of the day (very annoying)
Quality of snack bar food was nothing short of a disgrace, and expensive for that matter for what it was,we had a jacket potato each (which was 1 spud cut in half between us)
portion of chips (very greasy),and fish fingers/chips for the little un,and 2 large soft drinks....This cost just over £20,maybe it was a one off?
Overall, this isnt a bad hotel by any means, but its one that could be much better, with better sunbeds and a better quality menu at the snack bar as the food there is not on par with quality at dinner times. The other little gripes would be overlooked i guess.
I wouldnt want to recomend this hotel, not entirely down to the hotel itself, but more so that ibiza is so overated as an island,es-cana is a quite resort, with the generation being more populated by the older generation looking to relax
Nice for a week, but no more i'd say....its getting very expensive in spain now,and dont be suprised to pay up £10 for 2 decent mixer drinks, cocktails were 5-6 euros pretty much everywhere.
My advice would be to go here if you get a good deal, but if this is your only holiday, and you have saved hard for it,try somewhere else,as you may be dissapointed.

I was so excited but even more disappointed.
The staff are rude. The pool is unclean and tastes like salt and sun cream. One boy had a poo in there and the staff didnt do anything about it. The place is tacky and full of chavs. The food is overpriced as are the drinks. The Internet Cafe is rubbish and the webcams are all broken. The food is disgusting. No choice for children. No variety. Bacon: 3/4 fat 1/4 meat. Rooms: tiny!! Beds: The most uncomfortable thing I have slept on! I slept on the floor most nights! Wardobes: No space at all! Air Con. : Leaked and created a huge puddle on our floor. Everything is overpriced. The beach is absolutely terrible! The Hippy Market: My daughter fainted from the claustriphobia of it all. One of the stall owners was smoking maruajana.. Husband got pick pocketed .. TWICE!! Can never find your way out again. Entertainment: they drag you on stage even if you say no. very repetitive. VERY loud! it goes on till early hours in the morning. Everyone is screaming and shouting and they don't even turn it down when its already too loud it could deafen a deaf person. The only good things were the pottery people who came in on a Thursay but even then, the man there was rude and disrespected people work.

Just got back yesterday from the Caribe, first time in Ibiza. Couldnt have picked a better hotel had a fantastic time the hotel I cant fault the entertainment i cant fault which included Ricardo, Jose and Thia they are absolutely fantastic what a big personality in Ricardo everyone loves him!!!! |Yes the rooms are basic but they are clean and everything you need in there, clean towels everyday. hotel is absolutely spotless food fantastic dont think we had the same thing twice apart from chips. Great acts on every night and again apart from a couple all new different acts for the whole two weeks You would be quite happy to just stay at hotel every night. I am certainly going to go to the Caribe again and so was all the people I made friends with, All staff were friendly I didnt find anyone to be rude even on reception found they bent over backwards to help. Only thing I can complain about is how expensive Ibiza is now, I actually found it cheaper in the Caribe to buy lunch restaurants are very expensive so are goods apart from that I will be going again

WEATHER FAB IN THE 40'S. just got back this week, 2hr delay from manchester, then had to wait for coach left an hour later to resort, takes abt 1hr to hotel. Reception staff are not wonderful very rude, only Ana a spanish lady on the desk who was really helpful. The rooms are just basic and small, we had 1 room for 2 adults and 2 kids, ended up with 2 double beds and no where to sit, one wardrobe and a tiny balcony with pool view, asked to change but could'nt. The view was very nice of the pool but very noisy at night as the entertainment was on the stage there until around 12.30. Was good if you wanted to sit in the balcony to watch the acts no need to go downstairs. The room was operated by a card, that gives you electric aswell. The air conditioning was operated by closing the patio door and it came on, very handy as it was roasting. The walls were very thin so you could hear everything!!!! You have to have a safe it is 3 euros a day, also you can hire a fridge at 3 euros a day too, quite handy. The breakfasts are served from 8 till 10, the dinners are served 7 till 9.30. The breakfasts are cereals, donuts, toast, cooked breakfasts, tea, coffee, fruit juice. The dinners are soups, salads, fresh bread and the rest in a buffet, chips with everything, sausages and chicken for kids, roast beef, chicken, pork, rices, cauli cheese, fish, prawns, pasta, boiled pots, paella. The entertainment was ok, they took on a new guy Ricardo was great getting everyone up, there were different acts on each night, parrot show, singer, snake guy, drag acts and variety by the staff, not great but watchable, had bingo each night but only got a t shirt and a cheap bottle of bubbly, if you go to charlies bar 5 mins away its 50 euros a line and 200 for a full house, they also have lots of very good acts too. You can get take aways in the afternoon next to charlies bar of chips, ice cream, cakes, very reasonable priced, not much to do here, very quiet resort, if you get a taxi to the next town it is 8 euros santa euralia you can do the place in abt an hour, restaurants, pubs, beach, few shops, there is a train that goes to a museum and other places takes abt 2 hrs runs at 10 12 4 but if there is not 8 or more people they wont go, as we found out. There are boat rides to go on but we never went on any, the pool is always busy and very strong chlorine so be careful with the eyes as alot of people complained, on 3 occassions we had RATS in the pool, we got chaced and the pool was shut for 2 hrs while they cleaned it. Every morning people were putting towels on the beds at 7 in the morning, quite sad really, again not my cup of t. On leaving the hotel we got to the airport and told we had a 7 hr delay so be prepared for a wait. On the whole the holiday was a restful one as it was very quiet area but very rude spanish people, who i might add that if people like us who work hard all year and go there, they would not have a job and a wage. The cleaners only did the beds and bathroom on a daily basis, if you hide the towels they give you new clean ones and new loo rolls if you have none at all, sheets only got changed 1 a week(YUK). I would not say this is a proper 3 star hotel but an average 2 star.
If anyone sees Laura the rep please say hello from 219 JAYNE and hope she liked her goodies. CHEERS

Came back on 12th July after 10 days. Nil entertainment on evenings. Rooms not very big and could hear conversations and noises. beds not changed very often, the food was OK but more staff required in Restaurant as pots were left on tables. The Pool area wasn't very clean and litter was left around. Staff were not very friendly or helpful. This Hotel is OK for young families but would not recommend for couples or elderly people. I would go back to Es Cana but not to this Hotel.

Had a fantastic holiday here and would recommend it to anyone.
I wasn,t sure about Ibiza and certainly didn,t expect to want to go back but am trying to book again for a week next year. If i am successful , it will be the first time i have went to the same place twice!.
It,s a lovely clean hotel , reps/staff are polite and helpful, however the entertainment available in the hotel really made the holiday. there was something on every couple of hours that would appeal to most people. As a single parent, travelling with one child, i wasn,t sure that we would meet other people to socialise with and anticipated spending quite a bit of time on our own. However we made good friends on the first day and the entertainment team had us involved in everything going on!. We had a blast. I can,t thank the Manati friends team ( Elisa, David, Bambino, Jasmena, Bridget and all the other guys) enough for ensuring that this was a holiday we will talk about for a long time to come .
I really think this is an ideal base for parents holidaying alone with kids as there is a lot of activities which encourage people to mix.

Just got back from spending a week in The Hotel Caribe in Es Cana and I can honestly say I had a FANTASTIC TIME!!
I'm 24 and went along on the holiday with my Family for my dad's 50th. My 18 year old cousin came along too and although it is no San Antonio, we still had a fab time!
Apache Bar has to be the friendliest place.... missing you already guys!!
Me and my cousin were made to feel really welcome by all of the staff that work there and we had such a laugh. Apache followd by Charlies disco and then on to Consarles (night club down stairs open till 6am) has to be the best night that we have had!
The Hotel
During the day they activities round the pool were - Scuba diving, darts, archery, shooting, water polo, crazy game (consisted of dressign up and swimming from one side of the pool to the other and then doing a dance and returning to your team).... and many more.
My and my cousin took part in almost every single one of the games and we had so much fun that we didn't leave the hotel once during the day! We did wonder to the beach one day but it wasn't that nice so went back to the hotel.
The entertainment team are fantastic both at night and during the day (Bambino, Vladamire, mohammed mohammed, the whole gang) and although we didn't have any kiddies with us I knew for a fact me nephew would have loved it.
The food was good and there was a huge choice to pick from and you can stuff yourself silly with as much as you like.
Staff were all great but don't remember seeing the thomas cook rep there at all after the first day.
Only thing that ruined the holiday was the return flight!! Should have flew at half 6 on the sunday evening but didn't get home till half 6 monday morning. Apparently the engin failed but a lot of the people on our flight said they have had this problem many of times with Thomas Cook (don't ever remember flying with them in the past myself).
We didn't get many updates during our delay from the Thomas Cook reps and in the end we were jetted home via Jet2.com!!
O well...... would go back again to the Caribe and can not understand why it is only a 3*??

Just got back from 10 days in the Hotel Caribe. This was our best ever holiday, we had an absolutely fantastic time. Our 8 year old son had the time of his life, we definitely didn't want to come home ! There is a really special atmosphere at the hotel. the staff are so enthusiastic, big thanks goes out to Bambino, Alisa and David, the entertainment staff who worked so very hard to get everyone involved in the days activities. The evening entertainment wasn't so good, but its what you make it !! The food was very good my son isn't a chicken nugget kid so he ate very well, think we have probably put on a stone ! There was so much going on at the hotel we didn't frequent the beach very much, the dreaded jelly fish didn't appeal. I booked this holiday on the strength of the reviews I had read on here and we certainly weren't dissapointed. Go, get involved & ENJOY!!

Arrived home from Hotel Caribe,Es Cana on the 4 th june, had a fantastic holiday, Hotel staff really make this hotel, so much fun with them, tell vincento and jose behind the bar that you love them and they look after you all evening. didnt do much with hotel entertainment as we had 2 teenagers with us, but we enjoyed stretching and salsa with bambino by the pool in the morning.Evenings out with 2 x 14 yr old girls were great (although must admit i was slightly worried ) went over to apaches were we were entertained by max, who played music for all, also happy hour gets extended every evening for hours, then went down the front to charlies for free evening of tribute bands, which were brill, then at 12 all the younger familys would go home and charlies becomes a nightclub which girls loved(must admit me too) .Back on caribe- food pleasant always a fab salad, if your like me, but not much selection for kids, yet food by pool great. Rooms small, but fantastically clean, only bad side about the room was the hotel walls were so thin, you could hear everythink going on, and i mean everythink, but i was lucky as i had ear plugs with me for the plane. You must jump in a taxi and visit santa eulalia, marina fab and some nice select shops, about 7 pounds from es cana. If your a bit older go up to popeyes they have golden oldies music in the evenings and the beer is lush, all very close to hotel. Hope you have as much fun as us, GREAT HOLIDAY AND MADE SO MANY NEW MATES, called ourselves CLUB 36 - 43.

Just home after a really great holiday at the Caribe. There was a total of 6 in our party; my in-laws, my two daughters (3 & 6) and my wife and myself. My personal opinions:
Arrival and Transfer
Landed at Ibiza around 9:45pm local time, the cases came out quickly and we soon got away in search of our transfer. There were plenty of TC reps around, and they were well-informed as to who was due in, and where your coach was. We found ours in a couple of minutes, exactly where it was meant to be (always a good thing!). The transfer from the airport took about 1-1½ hours, as there were 8-9 stops en-route, and traffic was bad - twice we had to stop for a few minutes because of the narrow roads with parking on both sides. But we got there, got checked in quickly and headed up to the rooms in two groups of 3 (my in-laws took our 6 year old, we took the 3 year old).
The Rooms
The doors are operated by electronic cards. Really easy to use, but it is worth getting more than the one per room you are allocated on arrival. Depending on which layout room you have, you will find it either decent or cramped. My inlaws had a room with 3 single beds, one small wooden unit (a wide bedsite table, basically) and a desk. Ours, in comparison, had two double beds, 3 units, and a desk. This made manouvering around tight, especially between the foot of the bed and the desk to get out on the balcony.
The balcony itself was small - enough room for two patio chairs and a small pvc table, but it was enough. The patio doors have a good lock on them - although ours broke (it shut, but wouldnt lock). We reported this to reception and it was repaired the same day. The bathroom is a decent size, although I found the bath a little narrow and a bit short. However, the shower more than made up for this. The rooms were cleaned 6 times a week, and fresh towels 7 times per week. Optional extras (like a safe in your wardrobe, or a fridge) were available for 2 or 3 euros per day respectively.
The food
Not overly great, and this is where Caribe loses its points. We stayed for 14 nights, and saw some of the same items appearing for a 3rd time before we left. Breakfast gives you a choice of cereal, buns, or a cooked breakfast with variations on eggs (scrambled, hardboiled etc) and hashbrowns. There were also machines for fruit juices and hot drinks available during the morning session (8am - 10am). All meals were buffet service.
The evening meals were good, but little choice for the younger people. There was a soup of the day, then salads, or different hot dishes. Chips were always available, but (as I found out), not all kids like chips! They did try and pep it up a bit with fish fingers, or chicken nuggets, but it didnt always work! Also, on the evening, you get no drink provided - there is a small bar in the restaurant which offers bottles of water to bottles of wine, but it can get expensive. The evening meals were available 7pm - 9:30pm.
The entertainment
We had very little qualms on this subject. The hotel has hired its own entertainment team, who lay on activities throughout the day. Examples include darts, dancing (salsa, cha-cha, etc), archery, stretching exercies, and more. These can be a bit repetitive, but for the kid-at-heart like myself, they were great fun! For the kids, there was a kids club included with the booking through TC, but my two didn't seem too keen after the first session. We then found out that the hotel staff also ran one, which was similar but apparently more satisfying for them. I didn't argue!
At half past eight there is a kids disco on the main stage, which also includes a game and prizes for the young ones. Then, at 10pm, the main show. We saw a variety during our stay, including the famed Parrot Show, drag acts, comedy, dancing etc. Again, very good, but it was repeated after the first week.
The entertainment team were very approachable, although English was sometimes not the best way to communicate with them due to their varied homelands. We had staff from Italy, Argentina, Peru and the Dominican Republic whilst I was there. Still, even during their meal, they would still be more than willing to stop and chat.
The complex
The hotel itself is only 5 floors (6 including ground, 7 including basement), so its not overly large. The bar, lobby and food areas are all good sizes, as is the outdoor terrace around the pool. There are plenty of sun-loungers and tables and chairs about to go round, so no-one is left without. The pool is a good size, and varies from 40cm up to 2.1m deep. A small play-park is also onsite for kids.
The resort
The hotel is easily placed to get about Es Canar - 2 to 3 minutes will get you to the bars, the beach, the shops... pretty much anywhere you want to go. As has been stated before, its not really for the young clubbers, but more family orientated. The beach is a good size, with loungers supplied by the adjoining bars (for a price). The sea is crystal clear and a very gentle gradient, rather than a steep slope, so it is good for kids.
There were the usual pedalo boats and glass-bottom ferries in the harbour, together with buses to adjoining resorts, however I cannot vouch for these as I never used them.
Overview
A good hotel for families, however 1 week to 10 days may be enough as they do seem to work on a 7 day cycle on the food and entertainment.

Just arrived back from 7 days at the Caribe and had a great time. In our party there was 4 adults aged 30 - 60 and 2 children aged 3years and 5 months.
The hotel is superbly situated for the beach, bars, shops, and restaurants which are all no more than a 2 - 3 min stroll away. Hotel is really clean throughout with a really large and clean pool area which has plenty of sunbeds so no need to get up at daft o clock to get a bed.
Rooms are ok but found that they were a little cramped with 2 adults and 2 children in them (just normal hotel room size). Food was pretty good although we did find that at the evening meal on occasions, although plenty of choice, the choices didn’t seem to go together. Having said that we never left the restaurant hungry.
Es Cana is a really nice little resort with a good selection of bars, shops, and restaurants. It is not a rowdy place but there are enough people around in the bars to make a nice relaxing atmosphere which is fine if like us you have small children but may be a little boring for older kids. Price of large local beer on average 2.65 Euros, Bacardi, and coke 3.50 Euros. You can get cheaper beers but in my opinion it tasted cheaper too.
If transferring on a Wednesday to Es Cana be prepared for a longer than normal transfer. It took us the best part of 2 hours because of the traffic for the Hippy Market and thankfully we had an extra feed for the little one.
Overall a nice hotel in a nice resort and a really enjoyable holiday.

Booked a holiday looking for a quiet relaxing break, this resort is great for this as it is very small and quiet.
The beach is tiny and lots of seaweed, enough restaurants to eat in, nightlife ok if you want to relax and have a few drinks, nowhere to let your hair down if that’s what you’re looking for, we weren't so it was perfect for us.
The hotel was exceptionally clean, very laid back, and friendly, the evening meals were superb, and different every night, the breakfasts were repeated every day so a few times we ate out.
Don’t bother with the hippy market, you're lead to believe the goods they are selling are handmade, but it's just a repeat of the goods on sale in the shops.
I would recommend this resort and hotel for a relaxing break, not somewhere to take your kids, as they will soon become bored.
Overall a lovely quiet resort, if you want to see the island travel by bus, it's very cheap compared to the packages the reps try and sell you, 8/10.

Never before in the field of human endeavour has so little entertainment been provided to so many by so few.
I booked this hotel on the strength of reviews on this site and agree with the majority, the Caribe is a very clean, smart hotel with reasonable food and facilities. As has been mentioned, it wouldn't take much for it to reach 4 star status.
For example, unless you arrive for the first sitting at breakfast/dinner you have to lay your own table which could be resolved by employing a few more staff.
Where we were disappointed was in the entertainment, or lack of it. The two hotel entertainers were pretty useless and it was interesting to see the following written in the front of Jon's (the JMC rep) comments book: "Please do not write complaints about the entertainment in here, they are employed by the hotel, not JMC".
The reviews below mention the names of several people we didn't see, I can only assume that the hotel once had a great entertainment team who have recently left and been replaced by two very nice but dull people. If you do have small kids, go to the Hotel Anfora Playa just around the corner where they welcome non-residents, several families from the Caribe (including us) went there several nights.
We sent our 4 and 6 year olds to the kids club on a couple of occasions (5 Euros per hour unless you book through Thomas Cook/JMC as its run by them, not the hotel) and they were happy enough but mostly sat around drawing rather than having any activities or games organised for them.
The hotel had booked professional entertainment at 10 pm 5 nights of the week which was ok, some of the acts also appeared in the same week at local bars and other hotels.
All in all, Caribe is a good hotel and its fair to say our expectations were set very high by the other reviews. Even with better entertainment, its still pretty much the same as you would expect from any hotel in its class (although the family rooms are indeed small).
Leaving the entertainment to one side, Caribe is an 8/10 hotel. I've only downgraded it to 7 due to the fact that the previous ratings are largely based on the children's entertainment being fantastic, whereas now it is non-existent.
