Perfect, perfect, perfect
We were a family of 3 generations staying in the Montebello Hotel and we were ALL very happy there. The warm welcome and devoted staff ensures you feel at home immediately. The staff are amazing, they work incredibly long hours but are always happy and smiling. In an excellent location just on the edge of the town it is quiet but only 5 minutes walk away from the shops and restaurants. The rooms are very clean and serviced extremely well. The pool area and gardens are perfect and pool so warm. We had nothing bad to say about the hotel we felt so at home there. Turkish night is great, good food and entertainment. Olu Deniz itself is just beautiful, plenty of shops and restaurants but not too many, it still has an unspoilt feel. The Lagoon is within walking distance and an idylic place to relax and take in the breathtaking scenery. We ate in lots of restaurants and did not have one bad meal, in fact the food overall is amazing and the service 2nd to none. The Olive Grove restaurant on the same street as the hotel however was our favourite and with 10% off if you are a Montebllo guest it was such good value. Can't wait until we can go again and wouldn't dare stay at another hotel as I would be worried it could not match up to the Montebello. (The tradition of cake time at 4pm each day has to be experienced!!)
Great Location , great chief , happy faces...
Stayed 3 nights , clean , friendly atmosphere , great foods , good wine (nine sterling for a bottle 75cl) , family of three USD.90p.d.HB.....Reccomendable
lovely, friendly hotel
we had a fantastic holiday in this hotel, especially as it was rated as a 2*+ by the operator (manos). the location is ideal as its close to the resort center and the beach yet not in the thick of things so perfect for people travelling in peak season. the reception staff were friendly and always had our room key ready before we asked for it! breakfast was fine, nothing special-traditional turkish as mentioned before. if you missed it 9it finishes at 10), there are plenty of restaurants nearby serving a full english for about £3. the public areas and pool were kept spotless, even while the winds were blowing up the staff were still tidying! i would definately advise to get a safety deposit box as they are only £1p/day. fridges were £20/week, kettles £6 week and irons £2 day. there are plenty of good restaurants in olu deniz, one thing i would recommend for a few nights is eating away from the water front, where prices can be double what they further back. we especially enjoyed the secret garden for atmosphere and happy hour, the pine tree for breakfast and dinner and the lady bird cafe for a proper drink with the locals. lazy dazy also has excellent food. just be careful with buzz bar as they overcharged us even after taking the menu away to price up the bill!! overall, we had an excellent holiday. this was our first time to turkey and we're definately planning on going back asap, hopefully to olu deniz
Fantastic Value, Clean, Good Food, Great Staff
Have just come back from a 2 week holiday at the "Montebello" and totaly agree with all the previous good reviews about this Hotel. The place is very clean, location 5/6 mins to beach and the staff are all very freindly and very helpfull. I paid £9 per night bed and breakfast for 1 person in a double room, fantastic value via cheapholidays.com. Vast selection of restaurants to choose from my favourites were; The Sultan Ahmet, The Olive Grove and Captain Hook. If you are thinking of doing some Paragliding I would go with "Reaction" a German backed company or "Sky Sports". I would recommend you to phone the hotel prior to your visit --- (budgetcom.co.uk @ 1p per min after 6pm to 8am Mon To Fri or all day Sat/Sun) and ask to speak to "Mevlut" . He will try his best to give you a good room. I would recommend Block 2 first or Block 1 second. Go for a top floor (Only ground and first floor) with a pool view. Mevlut is very helpfull and courteous, like all the staff and I know he will do his best for you. Lastly do not forget to have your £10 ready at Dalaman Airport as this is the cost of your Visa which you get just inside the Airport prior to Immigration. Enjoy you stay at the "Montebello"
2 Star Price with 4 Star Style
Booked this hotel a month before departure at a bargain price and was extremely impressed by this little oasis. The public areas and pool are immaculately clean. Nice gardens/palm trees around the pool area. Rooms have recently been refurbished in a modern, simple style. Comfy beds and clean linen (the top sheets are thick but cosy when it gets cooler). Linen changed twice in 7 days. Free air-con, double glazed windows with an insect screen on the window (handy for opening at night but no flying visitors)!!!. TV with loads of channels, if you can't find what you want, ask Reception to tune in for you. Lovely shower room with loads of hot water morning and evening. Fresh towels every day. Breakfast-typical Turkish but always fresh and served with a smile. I am addicted to their honey on fresh bread now!! Ate in the restaurant 3 times and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Highly recommended is the chicken or lamb shish. Turkish night was fun, again, excellent food and service. I would also recommend the "Olive Grove" restaurant where you receive a 10% discount as a hotel guest, cards can be found at Reception. The only downside was "some" other guests who made a bit of a racket when returning at night-despite the polite notices not to. One couple had a massive bust-up one night and gave out a load of abuse when asked to keep the noise down. Sorted out by Thomson and the Hotel though and peace was restored!!! Altogether a great holiday. Lovely staff on Reception, Hussain and Mevrook were always happy to help or advise. Give the Montebello a try, you won't be disappointed.
Nice hotel, nice resort
Montebello was not the ritz but an honest clean resort full of charm. Woken up by 'call to prayer' (not loud) can be strange at first but very relaxing and welcome reminder of Turkey's rich and different culture. Pool area enjoys some shade from backdrop of pine scenteed mountains. Breakfast made by dozen in house boys who all seem to 'work' there - but again they are lovely. Food is simple but quality - especially the montobello pizza and the authentic kebabs. Beaches nearby - esp. bob's beach - are great as are local pubs and eateries- and fabulous Turkish bath. Gardens were nice with fresh lemon grove to pick from your balcony - and roaming chickens. Go on Dalyman boat tour to see turtles and enjoy spa and mud bath. Much cheapness! Take pounds though as they like them.
Great, Friendly Hotel. No faults at all.....
This hotel was very friendly, clean and welcoming. Our room at the Montebello was a good size with a balcony with stunning views set in a beautiful surrounding. It was very good value for money and we are planning to go again next year. The beach was only a five minute walk away which gave the opportunity to browse along the small shops and talk to the friendly locals along the way. We could not fault our holiday at all. Cant wait for next year... xxx
Great budget accommodation
We booked a week in advance and got a really cheap holiday. We were impressed by the cleanliness of the hotel and the helpfulness of the staff. It is basic but the setting is lovely and it is really well located in a quiet but central position. We found the hotel food to be good and reasonably priced. To us the cost of the accommodation was an absolute bargain.
not good
Very very basic, rather dirty and in need of refurbishment. Lukewarm tea and coffee every morning. Very hard boiled eggs, little other choice- a great disappointment. Eat out at Olive Grove, Antique Bar or Captain Hooks-nice food, good service. This hotel does NOT merit a 3 star rating.
Not a bad stay at the Montebello
Hotel Montebello. The reason we booked the Montebello was primarily because of the good reviews I had seen on various sites. Many people said it got 9/10. Were these accurate? Probably not in my view. The Montebello is a basic, small hotel situated at the back of the resort of Olu Deniz. Its plus points were, it was clean, it had air-conditioning, and the block we were in which was at the back was very quiet. The staff were pleasant and unobtrusive, and the breakfast were ok but fairly plain (tea was awful but the coffee much better!). Safe deposit boxes were in reception (rather than in your room) plus and minus points on this – being in reception meant there is always a watchful eye on them (good side), downside was the safe room was small and you might end up in a queue to get your things out. Rooms were cleaned everyday, with fresh towels. The sheets though were very hard and thick and the towels had seen better days. The restaurant was semi open and by the pool which was very pleasant in the morning. The pool though was small, and during the day could be noisy with children. It was also quite slippery. Also the Brits seem to have taken over from the Germans in reserving poolside beds, as most were covered by 8.00am with towels even though there were few people out or having breakfast. It was a good walk to the beach, which was a downside as when we were there it was extremely hot and the walk back was taxing. There were many hotels closer to the nightlife and beachfront, that didn’t seem to suffer from noise. Would we use the Montebello again? Wouldn’t say no to it, but would also consider using some of the other hotels. Rating definitely not a nine more of a 7/10
