We have been to Olu Deniz 3 times now, and every time have stayed at this hotel. The staff are really friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as good as it can be. It is at the back of the resort away fom the noise and traffic at night, but is in walking distance of everything needed. The hotel has a turkish barbeque night every wednesday which is £10 a head, and well worth it. The food is very nice and the entertainment is at a high standard.
We'd never consider going to another hotel in Olu Deniz; Montebello feels like home every time we go.

We Stayed at Montebello from the 20th june till 4th july and had a amazing 2 weeks whilst there.
Rooms are a good size with air con thats free and you can hire a fridge for £20 a week and a kettle for £10 a week if needed. Our air con did leak twice but as soon as we told reception they sent some one up to fix it straight away , also the shower seemed to flood the whole bathroom , again they replaced the shower head and fixed the problem as soon as we told them. The maid works so hard she came in everyday and cleaned the room giving us clean towels and sheets etc....The windows had mossie nets so you could have them open without getting aload in the room.
Pool bar & resturant- nice to chill out they have a standard day time menu , chips, cheeseburgers, filled cobs etc which was expensive compared to Olu Deniz . Also drinks cost alot more at the hotel even water was more expensive. Theres a shop just 2minutes walk down the road. Pay phone right outside the hotel too.
Pool was very clean , they put chemicals in each night and as we came in from the bars/ clubs at 6 am they was cleaning it out ready for the day, we seen them do this every morning!. It was easy enough to get a sunbed although as the hotel got more guests it did get harder , some people would reserve a bed then go to the beach all day till 4 pm come back and use the lounger , which was a bit bad. They have cake time around 4pm everday where they come round the pool with drinks tea/ coffee and a trolley loaded up with different cakes .
The hotel is located towards the back of the resort which is good as its away from the noise of bars and resturants etc.....Around a 5 - 10 minute walk to the beach. Also the dolmus to Hisaronu stops just out side of the hotel as it goes up the hill.
Fethiye Market on a tuesday is a good experince really enjoyed it , we went around 4pm , as it had cooled off abit around this time , can get really hot if you go midday.
All in all , excellant hotel the staff are wonderfull and really look after you. Very clean , tidy and well looked after. Would reccomend to others and would return in the future. Next time will book direct with hotel and they arrange transfers for you.

We've just come back from a fantastic holiday, 4 of us stayed at the Montebello Hotel, my husband, daughter, her boyfriend & me. When we arrived late at night the temperature was already 27 degrees c, they were having a heatwave & the daytime temperature was between 36 & 42 deg. The rooms were very clean, even double glazing which was handy when we went to bed as the music & people in the hotel bar were sometimes a bit loud. The air conditioning in the rooms was brilliant & free of charge. They had safety deposit boxes in reception for our valuables which cost £10 a week but well worth it. The pool area was lovely too, with a huge bar area under cover with fans so it was cooler. The only critisism we had was that the prices for alcoholic drinks & food were high compared with places down the road. If they'd been a bit cheaper we'd have spent more time in the bar & maybe got to know a few more people staying at the hotel.
The resort itself has everything you need, the main drag is full of shops of all descriptions (loads of fake designer clothes, worth haggling for!) but it's a bit cheaper in Hisaronu which is the mountain resort just up the steep hill from Olu Deniz, its also cheaper to eat there & only takes about 5 minutes in the dolmus (minibus) that stops almost outside the hotel & costs roughly 2.50 lire (about £1) one way. There's a market in Hisaronu on Mondays but the biggest & best is in Fetiye on Tuesdays. It's well worth the experience!
The vegetarian restaurant in Hisaronu called "Our Place" is well worth a visit, we went there 3 times in a week. It's off the main drag & has fantastic fresh food & the menu is different to all the other restaurants, although there were plenty of veggie options on most of the menus. The proprietor, Yusef, is a bit of a character too.
My husband & I had been to Olu Deniz 11 years ago & it's a lot more built-up now but it hasn't lost its charm. It's quite a bit more expensive now but I suppose that's to be expected. The younger two in our party really enjoyed the holiday & there was plenty for them to do there too. I'm sure we'll go back again one day.

myself and my friend stayed at the montabello beach in june 2008, it was avery clean hotel, nothing really to complaine about the staff were friendly and the maids were very nice,i read reviews earlier on before going to this hotel and wasa little put of by a couple of thing, but to my surprise when we go there every thing was great, apart from the term bed and breakfast, breakfast applied from 8 till 10 in a morning, on our very last day before getting picked up by our coach we decide to stay close and just sit and have a cup of tea, we sat around from half past9 had our tea's and went to reception, only to be moaned at by one of the waiters saying we had to pay for our tea, i was so shocked as we had bookeda holiday for b n b. they complained at us because it was2 min past 10, saying we had to pay, i was so angry but paid up the bill, so i advise to anybody do not sit anylonger than 10am in the resturant for your breakfast, apart from that dont be put of by this hotel, it was nice, clean and friendly. enjoy

Turkey Review:
Just got back from an incredible week at the Montebello Hotel in Olu Deniz, Turkey. Although we got there at the very early hours in the morning, the staff were very welcoming and friendly and showed us to our room quickly. Room was nice and clean. Twin beds, although not the most comfortable, were pushed together to make a double seeing as there were 2 of us. Bathroom was fine, not stocked with toiletries though so make sure to bring your own. AC was free and worked fine, although the window work great on cooler days as well. Had a little patio off the back of the room which was nice to hang up wet towels and such. Beautiful surroundings and perfect location for us. Olu Deniz is a fairly small town so where ever you stay you will be within walking distance to both the beach and the main road in town. But Montebello was on the edge and closer to the back which was nice for seclusion and noise purposes. Other facilities included the pool, of course, which we found preferable to the beach just for convenience sake. There were always plenty of sunbeds and it allowed for a very relaxing afternoon. There is also table tennis and pool available to play, which went along well with the half price cocktails of happy hour.
You're not meant to bring food into the hotel but they didn't say anything about water which is cheaper from any of the shops down the road compared to in the hotel itself. Breakfast was fine with enough choice for most and constantly restocked. Evening meals and snacks were fine but better value and quality could be found from any number of restaurants or cafes situated nearby. Some of our favourites were the Desti Kebab from Ottomans which is located on the main road and La Mare was a nice Italian restaurant. Our absolute favourite was Buzz Bar which was best for lunch, cocktails or a romantic evening meal whilst enjoying a stunning view out over the Med.
As for things to do in Olu Deniz we found it easiest to get our advice from Mehmed, a Guide Tours employee who work right down the road. He offers everything from Paragliding to Boat trips. We took the 6 island boat trip for £8 and it was amazing, really recommend this. Turkey has a beautiful coast line which you get to see while enjoying the sun from the boats upper deck. Lunch aboard is also included which is a plus.

Before going to Turkey was a little bit dubious as didn't know what to expect but having just got back we had a fantastic time. The rooms are basic but if all you are looking for is somewhere to sleep then they are fine. The rooms are also fully air conditioned.
The resort of Olu Deniz is beautiful and would definitely go back and stay at the Hotel Montebello.
The breakfast was a little basic but whenever I have been b&b it is always the same, you get what you pay for and as long as you are not too fussy it is fine.
This was our first time visiting Turkey and had the most amazing time. Booked the 12 Islands Tour, Dalyan Tour and Turkish Bath with Seaside Travel and would recommend you book with these as Omar and the staff are lovely. Saying that, we did not meet one bad Turkish Person, all were lovely.
If you are going with a Tour operator then do not book the excursions with them, they are half the price if you book in the actual resort with Seaside Travel or any other local operators.
Overall the food was great, (you need to go to Ottomans and try their Pitta Bread) didn't have one bad meal in all of the restaurants we tried including the meals on the excursions, the weather was glorious and the people were some of the nicest people we have ever met.
Highly recommend Olu Deniz

Hotel basic, but clean, except for the blankets (sadly needed as it was very cold at night), which stank! Clean towels each day. Breakfast very basic. Weather cloudy and not hot enough - although week before it had been glorious - typical!
You can tell that this Hotel (and the resort itself) is setup to cater for Summer visitors. In the evenings Olu Deniz felt like a ghost town, but as a result we did get very good service and the food was lovely. I wished I'd gone later on in the year, as there was not much to do in the evenings except go out for a meal.
The Blue Lagoon is lovely - do go, but walk along to the Seahorse where entry is free rather than go through the carpark.
The market at Fethiye (Tuesday's) is wonderful - a must!, as are the Turkish pancakes - try going to a stall called Shrove Tuesday, where you will be served by a lovely Turkish man called Savish (forgive spelling!) and say that Mary sent you with her best wishes.
For all of the above, I'd go again. The people are lovely, the shopping amazing, and with better weather and a busier town, it would of been one of the best holiday's ever.

We had a lovely time at the Montebello. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was a bit boring, the same everyday but lunch and evening meals where very nice.
The room was quite basic but very clean and the balcony was a bit small but apart from that it was nice.
It was our first time in Turkey and we loved it we will hopefully go back next year.

Arrived at hotel, had suitcases taken to room. Service was first class, room’s clean, free air conditioning. Pool great plenty of sunbeds, food was great. Hair-dryer and TV supplied, take a kettle and iron as there is a charge.
Turkish nights were good although the season is coming to an end the overall service you receive is fantastic. We ate at the Chinese called the last emperor in Olu Deniz ,and found it very expensive and could not eat it (avoid) buzz bar could not identify what was on plate. The restaurant on the right side going to the beach I think it was called pine ? Avoid at all cost.
The Italian la mare fantastic food and prices. Look out for the white Volkswagen inviting you to a free lift to the suara beach(blue lagoon)stay all day with two sunbeds and parasols for 10 lira plus free return.
Near the beach is sultan ahmet trying the cheese cake. Book your trips at seahorse, 6 islands, and the Dalyan trip is a must. On the corner a bar called the ladybird nice to sit with a drink, also the lemon tree bar has really helpful staff HISARONU.
Peking restaurant all you can eat for £5.80 plus wine brilliant food. Also a must is dippy dolly’s great food free wine(not cheap bottle)£11.00 for two. Try the pancakes. You can get to hisaronu and Fethiye by bus, cheap and plenty of them.
Tip buy a litre bottle of frozen water, stays cold all day cost 1 lira.

We have been to Turkey many times but this was our first time actually staying in Olu Deniz. We know the area and fancied being close to the beach/lagoon for a change. The Montebello Beach was in an ideal spot, close enough to walk to the lagoon but just set back far enough from the main strip of restaurants etc to be fairly peaceful.
The hotel looked perfectly fine from the outside, not too large, but we were very disappointed when shown to our room. For some reason there were 3 single beds in it (only myself and husband) which made it seem even more cramped. The carpet looked dirty and stank of wee! The curtains and bedding were really shabby, fridge didn't work and when we pulled the bed covers back we found ants crawling in the beds. We killed all the ones we found only to have more come back so went to reception to complain, something we have never had to do before about our accommodation in Turkey.
Unfortunately we couldn't get a new room until the next day but they put some powder stuff down along where it seemed the ants might be getting in. We did notice the following day there were a huge amount of ants along the pathways nearby so guess it was inevitable they would get into rooms. You don't really want them in your bed though. The next day we were told we could look at 2 rooms and choose which we wanted but after seeing the first one and deciding it was a whole lot better than our "smelly" room settled for that. It was perfectly adequate for our 2 week stay.
Breakfast too was fine, no complaints there. We ate a few times at their restaurant in the evening and had probably the best meals of all. Service was very good, food presented very well and tasted good. Most of the staff at the hotel were friendly with just a few miserable faces which I know you get everywhere.
Why I've scored the hotel fairly low is for the unhelpful attitude of the management when I went to them after the second time my contact lens case was thrown away by the cleaner. I really couldn't understand why it should have been removed from the bathroom (next to my toiletries) in the first place. I only had one other back up pair of lenses and case so had to throw those lenses away so that I could take my ones out and put them in the case. A few days later when I came back from a day at the beach only to find my last case had disappeared I was not at all happy. I went straight to reception to explain and say that I was unable to take my contact lenses out as now I had nothing to store them in. A call was made to the cleaner who I was told "didn't know" and I was told that maybe something could be sorted tomorrow. I did my best to explain this wouldn't be good enough as my eyes were sore as the lenses needed to come out now but they had to be stored in something and I hadn't got anything left suitable. I asked where the nearest chemist was and was told and so set off to find it and try and get a case. After a long walk hunting for the place, tired and very hot I was told I would have to buy a bottle of solution to be able to get a case included. I didn't have enough money on me so back to the hotel to get more, back again to the chemist, I kept the receipt to show them at reception as I felt I should be reimbursed for their cleaners mistake(?) as I'd had to pay for a bottle of solution that I didn't need. By this time there were 3 men on reception including manager, not the girl I originally saw, and he sat there while I explained everything and then not moving just said I shouldn't have gone and got the stuff as they knew someone or somewhere they could get one for nothing. I was told I should take it back to the chemist and get my money back and they would try and get a case to me maybe before midnight which was hours away. I said I'd already opened the box to check there was a case inside so doubted I'd get a refund anyway and I needed to get my lenses out now and couldn't wait another 4 or 5 hours. It was clear they basically couldn't give a toss and no-one was going to be parting with any money for me so by now my husband who had joined me decided enough was enough and feeling quite angry about their attitude just grabbed the box of stuff and off we went back to our room.
The £6 or £7 pound it cost me to get a case wasn't really the issue it was their attitude and lack of help or understanding. Other than this and the room at the start we still managed to have a nice relaxing holiday but wouldn't choose to go back to the Montebello Beach. We love Turkey but this time have really noticed how the Olu Deniz/Hisaronu/Ovacik area has become so overdeveloped and quite tacky in parts really. Prices have shot up in the past 2 years since we've been there, probably doubled, and think there are much better value parts of Turkey and less spoilt to visit. The lagoon remains beautiful, Sugar Beach was a nice surprise replacing the old Bob's beach, great improvements and better than the main beach area.

I am going to start with the positives for the hotel. The air conditioning was free which was much appreciated as it was quite hot. The maids were brilliant and very friendly as were most of the staff. The room was ok in size, although there was three of us which understandably made it feel a bit small. Perfect for two I would say. The bathroom was an ok size too. Clean towels daily and sheets a couple of times during our two week stay. Balcony was a joke though, as you could only get two people on it if they were standing. I do like to sit outside and it wasnt ideal.
The breakfast was healthy, with the most delicious melon, cheese, bread, jams, honey, yogurt and boiled eggs - 3 min and 5 min, although both were about 10 min! The tea and coffee was disgusting, so take your own if you need your cuppa in the mornings. The juice was cordial and also not the best.
My biggest problem at this hotel was towels on sunbeds. Not once was it possible for us to sit by the pool as the beds were taken before 8 oclock each day, even though there were signs to say not to do so. Guests got up early to put towels on beds and went back to bed or sometimes to the beach until the afternoon. It was just bad mannered and selfish. The brits used to joke about the Germans and they are just as bad! I think it is bad management and the management should enforce the rule if there are signs around the hotel.
Also, the cafe/bar was very expensive. Cocktails were 15 YTL which was about 6-7 pounds, but they were tiny and hardly any alchohol. Water was 3 YTL, but the shop outside it was 1. English Beakfast was 15YTL, but next door it was 7. What they seem to realise is that if it was more reasonable, more people would eat or drink there.
We did have a lovely holiday, although I wont return as it is too expensive in turkey. At the airport on our return, it was the most expensive I have ever seen. A coffee was 15 YTL and a happy meal in McDonalds was the same. Just greedy!
Turkey is a beautiful, but in a few years time it may become too expensive and people will find somewhere else.
