Nov 2007, Miss E Bayley

This was a standard Holiday Inn, I’d recommend if you get a choice of rooms to get one with a view of the hills, the alternative is a rather dreary view of the car park behind. Our bed was comfy and the option of a pillow menu was a novelty. The hotel appears to have... more

Very comfortable and well equipped hotel on the main road into the city or to the airport. Free parking available too if driving. Both busy with business travellers and tourists with weekends a fav place to stop off if there is anything happening over at Murryfield which... more

We stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights and found it to be an excellent base for exploring Edinburgh. The rooms were a good size, clean and well stocked. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a free car park, which is a big bonus in Edinburgh. We... more

Poor
Drinks where overpriced, took 1 and a half hours to cook my dinner. Ordered breakfast to be delivered to my room and it did not arrive. Rooms were okay. Just dont bother eating or drinking
Very expensive rate, great room, food average
I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights last week. The hotel was extremely expensive but was in line with other Edinburgh hotels (why is Edinburgh so expensive?). My rate was £150 per night including Breakfast. The room was a mini-suite and was very good indeed; 2 rooms and a bathroom with a great view. Food was average for a Holiday Inn (in other words poor) Location is 'out of city' so you will need to take a bus into the centre or use your car. Service was very good. I will stay there again.
great city deal
we have stayed at this hotel twice, once in January for two nights and July for two nights, we booked a mini-suite both times. Excellent, with bath robes, slippers, mineral water, coffee, biscuits etc. We got a great deal on their website. Dinner, bed and breakfast in a mini suite in Edinburgh in July for £52 per person per night. As we have free bus travel, being seniors makes it even better. The 41 bus stops across the road and is a very frequent service. The young staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean and bright. Breakfast is really good with a wide choice. Dinner is good with really big portions. A good all round choice for a city break in a quiter location but within easy reach of the city centre.
Not a bad deal
I stayed here 1 night after a 3 day Scottish Highlands tour. The hotel is a long walk from the city or 1 GBP for the bus to the city center. If you get a decent rate, the distance is not a big deal. The bus stop to the city center is across the street and the bus drops you off at the gas station in front of the hotel. It was more convenient than I expected. The hotel itself was reasonable, clean, comfortable, and across the street there is a shopping center with a couple of fast food places and a big grocery store.
Reasonable Accomodation
I stayed at this hotel 10th & 11th February. We had a rate of £75 per night including breakfast which was in line with standard of accomodation provided. The room was reasonable, a little musty smelling upon entering but nothing opening the window for a while couldn't solve. Breakfast was excellent in terms of choice, quality and quantity. As far as location goes it's really not that far from the City Centre, 10 minutes on a bus and probably slightly less by taxi. Overall the hotel provides good value if you get the right rate.
Too Far out from the city !!!
This hotel is average by all means - The rooms were okay. The location however was not very good about a 45 minute walk into the centre and no restaurants ,bars close by.
brilliant value in Edinburgh
My partner and I stayed at this hotel on a Friday night. I paid £72 for a room with two double beds, including breakfast. Check in was straightforward and the staff were friendly and were able to advise us on the bus service, which is cheap and runs frequently into the city, the bus stop is across the road from the hotel. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was large and spotless, the shower was very powerful, and stocked with Dove products. The room had a large window which overlooked the city centre, and the view at night was stunning. Breakfast was excellent, a variety of cold cheeses & meats, cereals, fruits and a full range of cooked items. Upon check in the receptionist advised us to arrive early for breakfast, we got there at 9.30am, and I am glad we did. By 10am there was a long queue into the reception area. Complementary newspapers were also provided. The checkout was also efficient and we were able to leave our car in the car park when we spent our final day in the city centre. It's also worth noting that the hotel had a restaurant, which we did not use but seemed fairly busy, with lots of children. There is also a bar area. I plan on staying here when I next visit Edinburgh.
Great hotel
Lovely hotel. We got upgraded to a suite which comprised of two separate rooms. Lovely view of the hills from two huge bay windows. The lobby area, restaurant and bar areas are lovely. For the price it is unbeatable. We visit Edinburgh at least twice a year and will stay in the hotel on future stays. I am a Priority Club Gold member so have stayed in many Holiday Inns - this is a really pleasant hotel. 50 a night including an emormous free breakfast - superb !
Holiday Inn Edinburgh North, Queensferry Rd.
Nice property, easy access to town as bus stop is right across the street. About 10 minutes from downtown. Rooms were clean, newly decorated but very small. Had two double beds, crowded but ok for a small family. Awesome view of city! Our room overlooked the castle. Not too impressed with the staff at the front desk, efficient but not very friendly.
1st Edinburgh Stay
I stayed FREE at this hotel, due to a special offer I responded to. This hotel is situated outside of the city centre, however there is a bus stop just out front of the hotel which runs frequent, regular buses which will take you right into Princes Street in the heart of Edinburgh(takes about 10 mins). On the plus side, this hotel is just over the road from the new(ish) Ocean Terminal building which is a large indoor shopping complex, which also houses the Royal Yacht Britannia visitors centre, which leads you straight through to the yacht itself (well worth a visit!!). This hotel is very new, so was very clean and well maintained when I visited, though a little lacking in atmosphere, as there is no restaurant or bar as such. There is a small bar in the breakfast room, which was empty when I stayed there. Rooms are small, but well stocked for a budget hotel, and at the time I stayed early in 2003 was spotlessly clean, which has to be a big plus. Breakfast was help yourself, with the usual cereals, fruit juices etc, also fresh fruit and yogurts, toast (make yourself). Very nice, makes a change from the usual insipid english bangers and bacon. Overall, if you are looking for cheap and clean and cheerful rather than character, then I would recommend this hotel to you.
