Noisy dump
from LondonRob
This was the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in. The aggressive staff insist on blaring out thumping music until midnight every night, even though they seem to be the only ones at the bar. When we asked if the volume could be turned down after 11pm we were faced with an aggressive confrontation. When we complained to the manager in the morning her attitude was that we could leave if we didn’t like it but of course we wouldn’t get our money back. To make things worse the dingy room smelt of damp and looked out onto an embankment and the food was awful so we had to eat elsewhere even though we had paid for half board. The Olu Deniz lagoon is lovely but just make sure you don’t stay at this dump.

went 2 hotel majestic Aug 2006 , 4 adults, 5 kids aged 10-14. second time to olu 4 us but not our friends. hotel small and friendly, basic, smallish pool but never crowded, met some nice people there, mostly english and a few turks. Ozzy and Tarik behind bar worked all hours, were great with kids, danced and sang and kept everyone smiling. we stayed half board but did get repetitive, always soup followed by a chicken or fish/meatballs, then watermelon and the odd rice pudding. breakfast was hard boiled eggs, salads, bread and more watermelon. tea and coffee and weird flavour squash. we did eat out some eves just 4 a change. snacks were good, from 11ish till about 4 u cud buy sandwiches, pizza, burgers omelettes etc. overall had a brill time, our friends loved it, did jeep safari - a must - mudbath trip and pamukkale - beware very long journey. weather was very hot 45 highest, just keep using suncream, saw some silly people who didnt and had to visit doctor ! we love turkey and are going back in july this year.
A great hotel for the money

Hotel Majestic is situated on the edge of Oludeniz on the main road between Oludeniz and Hisaronu. That may sound like a pain but Oludeniz is very compact, the beach being a 10 minute walk away and the lagoon maybe 15-20 minutes. Pretty much any part of the town can be reached on foot within 10-15 minutes and you never feel as though you're stuck out on a limb. Despite our late arrival the reception was still staffed and checking in was just a matter of quickly filling in a form. The Receptionists spoke reasonable english and were friendly enough, even at that late hour. A bell boy was on hand to take the cases to the room and there began the tipping. Now, apparently, tipping is de rigeur in Turkey but having just landed in a strange country, with strange money and no small denomination notes it's also quite expensive! At least he seemed grateful. The rooms are basic, no doubt, but very adequate nonetheless and nicely decorated. There's a small terrace / balcony (depending on floor) with a table and chairs and a drying rack. The room itself was a good size with what felt like a very new and very firm bed, tv and the usual furniture. There was also what appeared to be sofa bed too. The bathroom also a reasonable size, quite modern and well kitted out. There's no bath but the shower was very powerful. It's common practice in Turkey to heat the water by solar power so at peak times or when it's dark the water ain't that hot. The room was hot however so it's well worth the £3/day for air-con (and accompanying 10YTL tip for being shown how to use it when I already could). The rooms are cleaned daily with fresh linnen and towels at least every other day and generally seemed clean and tidy. By the time we were ready for dinner there didn't seem to be much happening in the hotel restaurant so it was time for a quick hunt for food. A quick walk down the main road brought us to Ladybird Cafe Bar and Restaurant which comes highly recommended - just avoid the pancakes as they're heavy enough to sink a ship. You've probably already read about the legends that are Ozzy and Tariq. It's all true. They are mental, they slam dunk tips into a bucket, bang glasses on the bar to within an inch of their life and are the life and soul of Hotel Majestic. And their taste in music isn't that bad. Can be a pain in the [--] when you're so hungover you miss breakfast and tariq decides that there's not quite enough dents in the bar top though. You've probably also read about breakfast too. It's typical turkish fayre - simple but very fresh and quite nice. There is some form of cereal (but I never tried it) along with a buffet of one or two cheeses, cucumber, tomatoes, water melon, salami, bread, butter, jam and honey all washed down with a choice of two juices. It's an odd sounding combination but it works. Avoid the coffee, it's grim. Whether it's day or night the hotel centres around the pool which is a decent size and clean. Monday night is cocktail night and Friday night is Turkish night with a big bbq and some turkish dancing shenanigans. There's a poolside kitchen serving up all manner of snacks through the day and the restaurant is cheap and cheerful and pretty good too. All in all a great hotel for the money and a great place for a holiday.

Just returned from another great two weeks in Olu deniz. this was our third year running yet our first at the Majestic. Arrived early morning and booked in efficiently and shown to the room. the rooms are very clean although the only gripe i would have are it is very noisy with people banging doors which echo really loud especially from late night revellers or new people arriving during the night. made to feel very welcome by the bar staff Tarik and Ozzy. these two were a great laugh throughout the day throwing people in the pool etc. also look out for best time cake time at 4pm everyday. lovely cakes come round by trolley dolly tarik. the pool is lovely and clean and warm. great for kids and our son had a whale of a time in and out the pool and playing pool in the bar area. he met lots of friends and we felt safe just letting him wander the grounds with his friends. Olu Deniz is still very much the same as previous years. a must to try is sugar beach down on the lagoon. ask reception to ring and they will pick you up and bring you back at the end of the day. this used to be called bobs beach but it has now been revamped and is lovely with loads of chill out areas. try the burgers down there for lunch, they are massive and gorgeous. places to eat i would reccommend are hippyshakes. lovely breakfast and meals on a night. ottomans also a must for breakfast especially if your hungry then ask for the hangover english breakfast. also try help bar on the front. the burgers down there are massive like dustbin lids. all in all yet another lovely two weeks in Olu and the Majestic hotel and i can highly reccommend it especially for families. we will be back definitely.
Fun, cheap and cheerful

I stayed at the Majestik hotel this July and had a really lovely holiday. At the start we had a few problems. We took an overnight flight to Turkey which was very tiring, we arrived at the hotel about 6 in the morning, all we wanted to do at this point was sleep! However when we got our room we ordered a twin room but they gave us a double. I went back to reception to complain but they were unable to swap until another girl (who apparently had the power) could swap them. She was due to arrive at 8.30, but didn't turn up till about 10 (apparently had a late night the night before!). She managed to swap us into a twin, however the key didn't work in the door. I spoke to my rep and asked if he could help, he took our key and we went off to grab some breakfast. When we returned no sign of the rep, the receptionist claimed she had never been given the key and claimed we had to pay £20 pounds for a new one. I refused!! Eventually later that day one of the staff came over with our key and claimed they found it - nightmare! Alot of people we spoke too had been given a double when asked for a single or visa versa so watch out when booking this! The rest of the holiday went with little problems. The breakfast is quite simple, two juices which taste more like squashes, bread, butter, jam, feta cheese, tomatos and instant coffee. Most days we got water melon too which was good. The bar staff are really friendly, Tarik was particuarly lovely and very funny at 4 o'clock cake time. Olu Deniz was beautiful, the beach is quite pebbly but the sea is clear and blue. The trips we went on were alot of fun. Don't book through your rep they are over priced and you can get them on the street alot cheaper and the reps use the same firms such as Focus etc. We loved paragliding, very fun, we went with Sky X - about 35 pounds which was cheap compared to easy riders (50 squid!). Turkish people are really friendly, the are quite hassly though and try very hard to get you into their bar or resturant. The also love the women, especially if your blonde! The lagoon is over- rated and we prefered the beach. The food is lovely espeically The Sun Cafe and Bella Gustos. At Bella Gustos order the chocolate souffle - takes about 20 mins so order with your meal. Oh my god if you like chocolate it is heaven!!! Overall I had a brilliant holiday and would go again have fun!

Friendly obliging staff. Clean, cheap and cheerful. Disregard star ratings in Turkey ! Dodgy looking carpets and probably the noisiest hotel I've ever stayed in ( mainly due to design), however got exactly what paid for and could not complain.
Frosty Reception
from Bround
Having travelled through the night across a continent and enduring a torturously slow bus transer from the airport, the least you might expect from your host on arrival at your hotel is a little civility. Not at the Majestic. We got a grunt, a key and a pokey little room facing a wall at the back. As we were on honeymoon and the room was very basic with no view and narrow twin beds, we immediately returned to the reception to politely enquire if there was a possibility of getting another room, maybe at the front and preferably with a double bed. "No". Is it because all the rooms are occupied? "Yes". No 'personality of the year' prizes for our surly Turkish host (a fluent English speaker). We found out later that morning that the hotel was actually half empty and eventually managed to get a comfortable room at the front overlooking the pool. Ah, wedded bliss! The accommodation is basic but clean and bright and in a good location. As we were staying for two weeks we decided to try another attempt at communication with Mr. Personality who was now stationed at the poolside bar. No luck. The guy had decided that we were a mere inconvenience. He slapped two beers on the counter with a grunt and charged us 12 lira even though the price list advertised beers for 4 lira each. That's it, we could not be friends. We took our custom elsewhere. Apparantly some of the staff were quite pleasant but we couldn't be bothered to find out which ones. There was the occasional cheer from the bar when someone left a tip which, at the end of the day, is all we represented in Mr. P's eyes. We're commodities, not guests. It's about how much cash you can lure from the tourists rather than taking any interest in facilitating their holiday. The local shopkeeper complained when I had the audacity to purchase a mere bar of chocolate. "Grrrr just chocolate" he said! I was in there every day for two weeks and nearly drank his entire stash of Raki but it wasn't enough. On the plus side, the beach is great and the Buzz Beach Bar does fab salads. Also it's a short dulmus ride to Fethiye which is a pleasant enough place. It's quite cheap to stay the night there if you need a short break from Oludeniz.
Good value

An indifferent greeting upon arrival, not unpleasant just indifferent. However coupled with the very obvious sign about guests not being allowed to bring 'drinks, food or beverages' didn't give me that warm tummy feeling. Shown to room and as an earlier reviewer said the guy pretty much ran off without saying a word. Difference for us was the room was spotlessly clean and everything worked (except TV remote which lacked batteries). High cleaning standards were maintained throughout! Decor was a bit tired and agree that carpets past their prime. Air con was extra, although we didn't need it. Always plenty of hot water which guests staying elsewhere didn't have as presumably totally dependant on solar heating. Stayed half board. Breakfast was buffet style - feta, olives, tomato, cucumber, hard boiled eggs, corn flakes, bread, a choice of two squashes (!) and all the instant coffee you could drink. Evening meal was always a set menu with no choice and three courses; salty packet soup, fish/curry/kebab with chips and rice and usually a blancmange for dessert. My girlfriend thought the evening meal was horrid! I certainly didn't think it in any way special however generally perfectly edible! Generally the hotel was clean and well maintained. Short walk to beach (5 minutes). My main gripe was that the barman liked to pump out music until about half eleven at night; the kind of music teenage girls might like. He managed it every night, usually playing to no more than two people. Ah, he also had a bucket for tips which he used to generate much noise whenever someone added to his bounty. Given the cost of £285 for a week (flights, transfers and hotel) I was a happy man. Apparently one of the big tour operators has it in their brochure for a great deal more so watch out!
Humm, certainy not 3 stars as described by Lastminute!!

In October 2004 me and my boyfriend booked a holiday with lastmintue to this resort and stayed at the Majestic Hotel, which they rated as a 3star, 7 nights for about £320(Actuallly said 2* on the hotel name board outside)!! When we got on the plane to leave, we were told at the last minute that the plane had to go to glasgow first to pick up more passengers. To say the least, we were both very unimpressed. A journey which should have lasted about 3.5 hours ended up being just over 6!( on arrival at the airport, be prepared to dish out about £15 for a visa, not told about that in advance either!) When we arrived at the hotel early the next morning, about 5 or 6, we struggled to find anyone to show us to our room. Then we were show to a room by a worker who spoke no english at all. He opened the door to the room for us, we walked in and he left us. To my horror the room was still uncleaned from the last guested who had stayed in there. Their rubbish was still on the dressing table and the bed sheets dirty. The bathroom had not been cleaned and the overall opinion was of disgust. Their old boarding cards were left on the table and the date indicated that they had beeen there 2 weeks previous! The room had not been touched since. Feeling extremely tired, angry and frustrated, we could not even get into bed to sleep or have a shower as everything was so dirty. It was pretty chilly still at that time of the morning, so not even having a warm bed to snuggle into simply took the biscuit. We were told we would have to wait another 3 hours until someone would arrive for work and be able to show us to another room. The first 3 hours of our holiday were the worst. Once into a clean room things looked a little brighter. However, the brown bed covers were not particularly appealing. The shower overflowed and leaked if you were in there for longer than 5mins, and the resisdent cockrel insisted on waking us up every morning at 6 o'clock. We stayed on a half-board basis, but wasnt worth the extra. The variety of food was limited and the evening meals were, well, not exactly good. The hotel looked neat and well maintained and the staff we met we friendly. The pool was very nice, quite cold but very refreshing as the temperature was still in the high 20's. The only other downside to the hotel that i can remember was the bed. The most uncomfortably bed in the world, thank goodness we were only there for 7 nights. The resort itself was beautiful. The beach was amazing and uncrowed at that time of year. The lagoon is the most amazing place you will ever see. The water is crystal clear and the beach is made from what i can only describe as the smallest, smoothest fish tank type stones. Me and my boyfriend enjoyed wake-boarding there which was available from the beach for about £15, hiring a speed boat for the afternoon, and simply exploring and relaxing. A fantastic resort for couples. Some nightlife, enough to have kept us both happy and entertained. Some great restaurants on the beach front, some bad ones down the back streets tho! Took only 10 minutes to get to the centre of the resort from our hotel which was brilliant. Bit of a tiring journey from the airport tho, prob took about 1h45 if i can remember correctly. I hope this infomation is useful to some people. In future, i would advise people who want a 3* hotel to book at 4*. There are so many things to see and do in Olu Deniz, it is well worth a visit. Myself and my boyfriend are both in our 20's, and if we had of had a better hotel, our holiday would have been 100% perfect. One more word of advice, dont book trips through your rep, you will find them at a 3rd of the price from the guys on the sea front, they are just as good.

Turkish star gradings are ambitious. 3 Stars are based on the quantity of facilities rather than quality, so take at least 1 star away to avoid dissappointment. However this property is generally modern and fresh and in my eyes merits 2.5 stars. It has a nice pool, with plenty of padded sun loungers. About 10 min walk to the beach (relatively flat). Although it is sold in B&B basis, expect only a very limited breakfast. If you are big eaters, or want a better selection, there are plenty of nice restaurants around. Rooms are compact, have aircon, TV and shower/wc. Carpets were a bit shadowy, but hey it helps reduce noise from neighbours. Balconies are very small, ours overlooked the back of the property with lemon trees and general well tended shrubs. Would I return..yes, it was as good as any!
Have just returned from 11 days at the Majestic with husband and two teenagers 17 & 14. The hotel is on the small side however this is part of its charm, it is without doubt the friendliest hotel we have stayed in.The rooms are on the small side but are very clean. Each... more
