Submitted By: Ms DJ HannibleWe didn't really like the shopping centre, which is only a 5 min walk away. We felt it was a bit like Blackpool in the Sun!! Very English and very busy, made us feel a bit stressed!! But the location of the apt's was great for the supermarkets. And the stroll down to the beach. At night time when the shopping centre came alive, you can hear all the hustle and karaoke singers up until around 4am!! So as long as you keep you windows shut or be in the shopping centre singing, its fine!!
I would say that these apt's are great for couples who want to chill out and relax in the day and go out and enjoy the evening in the shopping centre, but if you are like me and don't want all that, then i would say to you stay somewhere else, as i did not expect P.R. to be so busy or that stressful in the evenings when you simply just want something to eat!!
Plus also at the moment we noticed how expensive things are over there, meals, drinks etc. We took £800 spending money for one week, and came back with nothing!! We only eat out twice in the evenings!! Never went out drinking? So i don't what the hell we spent our money on, but it went no-where!! We eat out a couple of times a lunch times, that turned out quite expensive, the restaurants around the beach areas were not value for money. Some very poor infact, so check them out before eating there.
Overall The APT'S were fantastic, and we would def stay there again - very good value for money!!
Oh yea just one last thing - we got stung and Manchester and Palma for the weight on our luggage, we had only booked for 15kg, but out bag's weighed 20kg, we got charged £122!! Maybe that's where all our money went!!!

Submitted By: Miss S .All the facilities at the apartment were great. All I would say is that I think the space around the pool could be too tight during high season e.g. school holidays. We never ate at the pool bar but we did on occassions take advantage of the happy hour. The bar appeared to shut at around 8pm but I think this was because there weren't many people staying at the apartments when we were there.
Yes there were 100 steps down to the main road in the resort, but if you walk past those, a bit further along is another set which has less and they are easier to walk down, we discovered these a few days into our holiday. There was also about a 15 minute walk to the beach and harbour - harbour was the best place for restaurants in our opinion, espically the greek one. We personally enjoyed the steps and walk to the beach as it provided us with some exercise! Would not recommend for people with pushchairs or walking difficulties though. There was a large shopping centre type area not far from the apartments with lots of restaurants but for us this was a bit too "English". They also tried to badger you into the restaurants- was quite annoying.
We tried two other beaches other than the local one and found that peurto rico's was the best as the sand was soft and the others were a bit gritty like. Advice would be to be sceptical of the fishing trips in the harbour, we chose to go on one and it cost us 90 euros. We were promised great fishing with large fish, they would use different techniques to ensure you catched some etc. I was lured on to them by being told there would be plenty of space for sun bathing - im not a fisher lol. Unfortunately we were very disappointed in the trip, only caught small common fish and the communication between the captain etc and us was non exsitent as they could not speak a word of English and we couldn't speak enough Spanish! There was also no where suitable for me to read and sunbath. We will definetly avoid fishing trips in the future.
All in all this was a fantastic holiday and we would definetly return to Gran Caneria and the Tamanaco apartments if we wanted another chilled out holiday. We would recommend the apartments to couples due to it's location, size around the pool etc. If you are going to the Tamanaco I am sure you will have a great time.

Submitted By: Miss S BellThe pool wasnt heated but that didnt really matter, and there was loads of space and plenty of sun for sunbathing.
The steps weren't as much hassle as people are making them out to be, there are around 100 and they aren't steep. Also some other apartments have double the amount of steps, we found the ones at tamanaco no problem at all.
the only thing i would say is that every single night we returned after a meal, the bar would be shut.
apart from that it was great, and the reception and staff were extremely helpful and sociable.

Submitted By: Miss Amy CunnVery clean and not that long refurbished!
Hotel staff were friendly and always keen to help.
Very well situated only a 10 minute walk from the centre (but you have about 100 steps to walk down) not too bad going down but definitely need a taxi back up!
The nightlife is amazing as all the bars are together but they will try anything to get you into places but just bare with it as it’s an enjoyable holiday.
I would definitely go back to Puerto Rico and would definitely stay in Tamanaco apartments again!

Submitted By: Miss L BellI would recommend these apts to anyone except families with young children simply as there was nothing to keep them occupied, only a very small compartment of the pool. The maids came every day except Thursday as it was their day off and towels/bedding changed every other day.
The only downfall I can think of was that the pool is only small but on the upside it wasn’t overcrowded and there were plenty of sun loungers so no need to get down there for 9am everyday!!
The staff were so nice and helpful. The pool bar and supermarket on site served all day from 10am till 10pm (but would stay open later if somebody was there) but was quiet at this time of year.
The location was great too! Only 10 min walk to the huge main shopping centre. You have to go down about 100 steps but they are not as bad as they sound as they are not steep (but getting back up is quite a task!).
A taxi was only 2 euro. The beach was about a 15-20 min walk but a taxi is only about 3 euro. Loads of shops, restaurants, and pubs of all kinds in the centre but beware of the touts!!!! They will try ANYTHING to get you in, and the free cocktails are awful!
Top apts in a top, lively resort will definitely be back again soon, especially to Tamanaco
Happy holidays :)

Submitted By: Miss Katie DeightonThe reception staff were very friendly and your rooms got cleaned every 2 days. Overall the holiday was amazing and the centre has everything you could possibly need, also there is loads of activity to do, I went on the "BIG RED" which is a speed boat which was 30euros per person but it was fantastic. Sally and Garry who own the Oasis bar are very friendly people and lovley to get along with.
I will definitely go again.

Submitted By: Mrs K DixonOur apartment was spotless and spacious, we arrived on Christmas day and a complimentary bottle of wine awaited us, we also received another bottle of wine on new years eve.
The walk to the beach takes around 15 mins at a leisurely stroll, the walk to the commercial centre is 5 mins down the 101 steps (they sound worse than they are!) We never found the need to get a taxi as the walk was very gentle and the steps are not steep.
It was our first visit to Gran Canaria, having previously holidayed in Tenerife and Lanzarote - Gran Canaria wins hands down! Thoroughly enjoyed the resort, found it to be very clean and generally a really nice place. The commercial centre is a bit loud and brassy but it has it's place - the food was always good and surprisingly cheap compared to other canaries.
Can definitely recommend the Tamanaco and Puerto Rico, enjoyed it so much we are going back in 2 weeks!

Submitted By: Mr A GrahamJuan and Minolo who run the bar are very friendly and the rooms are very clean. The staff are always there to help you when needed.
As the apartments are only 5 mins from the commercial centre you would think it would be noisy but not at all. A taxi is only 3 euros and you get to the Europa centre which is better for kids at night .
The water park is really good though I got burnt, my own fault,or rather the vodka. The people are friendly and very helpful. The kids are very safe at all times. Roll on March as well be back with a few families.
All the food is very good value and not much difference between the many bars.
