Tamanaco Apartments

Initally booked to go to the Puerto Feliz and were moved to the Tamanaco 2 weeks before deprature, a bit apprehensive but we were thoroughly impressed.
Our apartment was spotless and spacious, we arrived on Christmas day and a complimentary bottle of wine awaited us, we also received another bottle of wine on new years eve.
The walk to the beach takes around 15 mins at a leisurely stroll, the walk to the commercial centre is 5 mins down the 101 steps (they sound worse than they are!) We never found the need to get a taxi as the walk was very gentle and the steps are not steep.
It was our first visit to Gran Canaria, having previously holidayed in Tenerife and Lanzarote - Gran Canaria wins hands down! Thoroughly enjoyed the resort, found it to be very clean and generally a really nice place. The commercial centre is a bit loud and brassy but it has it's place - the food was always good and surprisingly cheap compared to other canaries.
Can definitely recommend the Tamanaco and Puerto Rico, enjoyed it so much we are going back in 2 weeks!

As a family, we had a great two weeks in Puerto Rico. The Tamanaco Apartments were great, especially for kids.
Juan and Minolo who run the bar are very friendly and the rooms are very clean. The staff are always there to help you when needed.
As the apartments are only 5 mins from the commercial centre you would think it would be noisy but not at all. A taxi is only 3 euros and you get to the Europa centre which is better for kids at night .
The water park is really good though I got burnt, my own fault,or rather the vodka. The people are friendly and very helpful. The kids are very safe at all times. Roll on March as well be back with a few families.
All the food is very good value and not much difference between the many bars.

This was a top place to holiday will definitely go back. There are many pubs bars and clubs to drink at and enjoy yourself and the food is great I recommend fat cats, a little restaurant on the beach side and squires a great sports bar which does a brilliant breakfast.
There are many more there’s plenty to do in Puerto Rico you should definitely go to the water park which is 5 mins from the apartments also palmitos which is in Maspalomas part of gran canaria great day out for kids and adults in all I would recommend this place to anyone and will be going back in the near future

I thought this holiday was great value and Puerto Rico was an excellent holiday and perfect for family’s/couples and singles and I would highly recommend it!
The Tamanaco rooms themselves upon first impressions were quite basic but had everything we needed and they were very clean. I thought it was great that you could see the pool from your balcony and what a lovely view of the horseshoe bay. The hotel itself is in a good location to access the sandy beach 15mins away and the shopping centre no more that 5 minutes walk.
There are so many great places to eat and drink and among my favourites was Oscars a posh restaurant by the sea front which served excellent food real hearty portions and a great place to watch the sunset. In the main centre you must try out Churchill’s its traditional English food was mouth watering and what massive portions they were, great value for money too. I have been to this resort six years running and each time I am amazed by what else I find it's a truly magical place and has something for everyone.
I highly recommend jumping in a taxi and in 5 minutes you can visit the 5 star resort Anfi bay which is a fantastic day out and has an amazing beach with a stunning white washed man made beach which has had coral sand imported from the Caribbean. In the opposite direction to Anfi you can visit Amadoros beach a great place to eat also.
As for bars in Peurto Rico I found a few good ones based in the shopping centre. The first was Linekers, this is a lively sports bar. The second bar was Harleys which was brilliant, they even had waiters dancing on the tables and are always there to get you a drink and at one euro a pint you can't grumble. The atmosphere here is fantastic lots of fun and dancing.
Day time fun I recommend two excursions camel riding for the family in Maspalomas which is such a giggle. Also Aqua Park which is in walking distance form Tamanaco apartments. This holiday was truly amazing and full of fun, I got great sunsets, crazy golf, go karting, karaoke, cheap drink, fantastic food, great excursions great nightlife, great beaches and met some lovely people what more could you want from a holiday (apart form an extra weeks stay).

I thought that Puerto Rico was excellent and would highly recommend for all ages!!
The Tamanaco rooms themselves upon first impressions were basic however, we found that we didn’t spend alot of time in the room as we were to busy by the pool, beach or walking. The hotel itself is in a good location to access the beach, 15-20 mins away and the shopping centre no more that 5 mins.
The staff at the hotel were always helpful and pleasant and any questions, problems or queries were mostly sorted by our rep.
There is lots of places to eat and drink and among are favourites were Oscars restaurant by the sea front which served excellent food for those who like to wine and dine, San Miguel’s for good tasting mostly English serving food which is down in the shopping centre.
As for bars we found two, which we liked (both Based in the shopping centre). The first Linekers, this is a lively sports bar. The second bar was Harleys, this was by far our favourite (especially for the ladies) the waiters dance on the tables and are always there to get you a drink. The atmosphere here is fantastic lots of fun and dancing to be had with a great cocktail list.
I highly recommend that you visit Puerto Rico as there is lots to see and do and I will definitely be going back in the summer!!!

Whilst the apartment was fairly big, clean it was very dated and in need of a makeover. The blue skies and sunshine were just lovely but the "commercialism" in Puerto Rico was dreadful.
I had no desire to be swamped by people touting their wares! (i.e. cheap watches and sunglasses) I found Puerto Rico to be dirty - this was due to the tourists "NOT" disposing of their rubbish in the many litter bins available.
I will not be returning! Ever! Saving all my leave for the Greek Islands in the summer time!
