beware of Hanover Hotel
I made reservations at the hanover hotel, st. georges st. london for december 3-6, 2004 little did i know that this was a bank holiday, upon arriving there i was told i did not have a reservation even though i had a confirmation # and email in hand, this was because they did not want to honor my internet rate of 59 pounds per night and wanted a walk in rate of 89 per night. we went to the hotel down the street, new england hotel and were given a room and great service, it seems hanover hotel has a reputation for pretending not to speak... more
Dirty and Unsafe Hotel
I had the misfortune of staying at this hotel in November 2004. When I arrived at the hotel the two 'gentlemen' in reception were so rude; when I asked where my room was they simply nodded their heads in the general direction of the stairs. After climbing the stairs, where dirty towels that had not been removed from earlier that day, I entered my room. There were only net curtains on my window, the curtains themselves were stuffed under the bed - dirty and smelling. The tv did not work properly, the room was cold and the toilet/bathroom... more
Avoid at all cost
My friends and I have just returned from our stay in the Hanover 'Hotel', London. On our arrival at the Hanover just after midday we were unable to obtain an electronic pass key for our room door as it was broken and we were offered one manual key with a label attached 'emergency key'. This left us wondering what would happen in the event we were trapped in the room? However we went to the room to find that the en-suite facilities were no more than a prefabricated plastic unit (used in mobile homes) consisting of the tiniest shower... more
disgusting
what must visitors from other countries think of british hotels if this is where they end up when they visit this country? Disappointed cant begin to describe our feelings when we arrived on friday 20th of august. our party consisted of myself ,my sister, my mother and my three children. On arrival we saw bare concrete instead of the usual mat to wipe your feet on .The person on reception was surly to say the least .I did ring the hotel two days before the trip to confirm the booking and was promised two rooms next to each other on the... more
Refused to honor a confirmed reservation
Refused to honor a confirmed reservation that I made 4 months in advance. When I finally did get a room at twice the price I was quoted, they gave my 75 year old mother (who walks with a cane) and I, a room at the very top of the stairs! Six flights of steep narrow stairs!! Staff was RUDE. Rooms were ridiculously small. No decent restaurants within walking distance. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this hotel.
Nearly wrecked our trip!
This place was TERRIBLE! Not at all like expected. The room was so small you had to scoot sideways past the foot of the beds to get to the bathroom, which was a prefab just stuck in there. Not enough room for me and an 11yr old. Our "window" was a door that opened onto an 8X8 inner service area with hotwater heaters, ladders, scrap metal. The shower curtain was too short and only wrapped around about 2/3 of the way, so absolutely everything got soaked every time you bathed. The toilet flush rattled the entire room. You could hear... more
Not Bad 04/7/04
This hotel is convinently located near Victoria Station, which is equivalent to New Yorks Grand Central. It's about a ten-minute walk to Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham palace. Central London is very easily traveled either by bus or undergound. As for the hotel it was okay. We requested a room on a lower level because this hotel is in a very old building and is not equpped with elevators, so be aware that a third floor room means around 70 steps. The service was okay, beds are made daily. Only one towel per person is given. The... more
A warning: not good service & not worth your money
We booked 4 nights stay at the Hanover hotel through discountcityhotels.net. Once we got there and were given our room...it had ants all everywhere...the bed, the desk, the bathroom! Not to mention it was extremely small and the window faced a brick wall. It was bad. Eventhough we didn't like the size of the room we were going to make it work, but we were NOT going to stay in a room with bugs. We spoke to the owners. We then preceded to wait an hour just to tell us that they weren't going to give us another room because "Ants aren't bugs.... more
Frosting on the Cake
As a first time traveler abroad, I thoroughly enjoyed London. We were so lucky to find Hanover Hotel and the accomodations were above expectations. Even though this hotel is close to travel accomodations, it was the service that made it a pleasure to be guests. The managers were extremly polite and more than accomodating. They went out of their way to be sure we were comfortable and were cheerfully willing to go out of their way to help with sight seeing tour accomodations and a ride to the airport. I will be returning to London again and... more
Complain for bad service
We were three people that stayed in Hanover Hotel from the 28th of November to the 1st of December2003. I want to complain for bad service. I have traveled a lot in my life, and also lived in other Family hotels in London, but I have never been served an international breakfast with just bread, butter and jam. That is not good enough. When we left we were charged for a telefon call that we hadn`t taken. The phone call had also been taken the day we arrived BEFORE we booked into the hotel!! But that didn`t help, we had to pay. The... more
Management response from SanchitPatel

Firstly I would like to apologise for the delay in responding to this comment as I did not know about the existence of this website or the comments made. In response to the comments made by the guest, a continental Breakfast at the Hanover Hotel has always included toast, spread, cereal, orange juice and tea/coffee. I cannot explain how the guest did not receive the full choice. With regards to the telephone call I am sorry but I cannot comment on this as I no longer have phone call details from so long ago.
