We enjoyed a clean comfortable annexe room overlooking a small bay where small groups go on a morning to walk on sea bed and feed fish suitably attired with oxygen and helmets ...well worth watching....with a small balcony to sit out nicely shaded by a tall tree. No complaints and staff wery helpful and obliging, whereever you wandered between cafe, bar, restaurant, reading area, internet area, beach bar or pools... a deep main pool and small childrens pool is close by and a superb shallow pool is located at the other hotel annexe which appears to be seperate to the hotel but is not....none of the pools were crowded and sunloungers were clean and comfortable with lovely parasols whether at the poolsides, hotel beach or on a hard surface area jutting out to the sea ... and the beach and gardens/lawns areas are lovely understated areas. There is also a natural rocky seapool where you can take part in sub-aquaing and safe swimming....
Food was varied and plentiful..if you dont mind the odd cat the veranda is lovely to have breakfast from and there is lovely sea views from here while you enjoy your evening meal too...cyprus loves its cats. The restaurant is also very pleasant and has a calm atmosphere most of the time.
We did have groups of individuals who choose to be entertained within the hotel who also ate here but this did not spoil the time we spent in the hotel on an evening and did infact prove quite a plus at times. The entertainment team were two dedicated friendly people who did a smashing job of varied socalising events held within the hotel and at the beach bar...a lovely area suitably paved with chairs tables and parasols and room for dancing too... and before the beach which is adjacent to the beach bar area is a lovely expanse of grassed area where you can relax quite privately to soak up the sun too with a lovely swinging bench seat nearby.
A short 5 minute walk up the road to the main road..keep to the pavements...takes you past the odd shop and cafe/restaurant/bar to the bus stops providing reasonabLe fares to either paphos centre and the harbour or to coral bay. Dont attempt to walk along the road side much further than the busstops as it is a main road with no footpaths further than this. However the hotel was also ideal to use as a base to explore the island via the various tour trips available.
Well recommended to avoid the hustle and bustle within a short ride to nearby busy areas....but dont forget your mosquito cream...though we were ok until the last couple of days there....and yes we would go again too.

Well where do i start, the hotel is in an excellent location on the beach. The rooms are basic but we never spent any length of time in there, so it was no big deal. The staff were excellent through out. We had a problem with neighbouring holiday makers, they were noisy through the night and we were struggling to sleep because of this. After 3 nights of this we went to the reception and informed them of this. Straight away they asked us if we would like to be moved to the superior rooms, and my first thought was well how much is this going to cost extra, but no the kind lady said no its free of charge for the inconvience which was more than we was expecting, so no complaints there.
The breakfast we had was varied, they had the normal cerial, cooked breakfasts and fruit, the cooked breakfast wern't the greatest but edible. The food throughout the day were very good but we never ate evening meals there so i couldn't comment on the quality. They is 4 very good restaurants nearby, i would highly recommend visiting the tavern next to the hotel, they are very friendly and welcome you with open arms. The food is good, and they have a cocktail bar downstairs, which will stay open as long as you can drink.
All in all this is the best holiday i have been on, and the 2 weeks we were there were truly amazing and i would highly recommend this hotel and cyprus as a whole to anyone.

Gorgeous hotel and surroundings. My parnter and I both in our early 20s stayed there for one week. Location is quite far out from the resort of Paphos, taxi roughly costing around £8 one way. The beach and pool were amazing, have never seen better. However the rooms were very basic and had no DOUBLES me and my partner had to sleep in a twin room, shifting both beds together which was very uncomfortable. Our view was of the car park, not very nice.
The bathroom was immaculate, but could have done with more clean towels, etc. Reception were fantastic, entertainment very poor. Visit the little food/bar next door, lovely drinks and lovely staff!
I would definitley go back to Paphos but not to same hotel, too far out in location unfortunately!

Well, where do I start ?
In a word - Superb !
Unlike a previous poster, we spent a full 2 weeks at this hotel recently, and what a treat it was !
Firstly, the hotel was spotlessly clean - had been closed for 3 months over the Winter and had been decorated, and new carpets fitted in alot of rooms - ours certainly was.
Again, unlike a previous poster, we ate the full meal provided (not just the soup !) and so were able to make a fully informed opinion regarding the food.
It was always hot and tasty, with a superb selection of cereals, fruits, yoghurts, breads and cooked for breakfast, and for evening meal always a varying choice of 3 or 4 meats, fish, vegetables, potatos, rice, pasta, and 5 or 6 deserts, both hot and cold, cheese and biscuits, and jelly and ice cream for the kids.
And to top it off, a view of the sun setting over the sea while you eat !
We had a family room, with loads of space for a double bed, a single bed and a cot, and a glorious view over the bay.
Listening to the waves crash up on the rocks below our balcony every night was a dream !
The staff were always friendly and helpful.
Evening entertainment ranged from Greek dancing to a parrot show (!) to a fire eater to keyboard and guitar musicians.
No beach here although 2 sandy beaches are only a 5 minute bus or car ride away.
There are a couple of jetties and footpaths though you can walk on to get splashed when it's windy !
We had a great 2 weeks and would definitely return.
How anyone can criticise this hotel I don't know - they must be very hard to please.
Anyone who is going to holiday here soon is very lucky - you've made a great choice !

Where do I start? The hotel was grubby nowhere near the Thomson rating. We were not told it had just opened that day after a three month shutdown. Room was dirty. First night meal was disgusting so we left the restaurant after the soup and ate in Coral Bay's Coral King an excellent restaurant. entertainment was piped music five nights and no daily activities. Management unhelpful and we move to the superb Crown Resorts Horizon in Coral Bay after two night . Had to pay extra and amazingly a hundred euros cancellation fee to the Cynthiana. In correspondence with Thomson about the terrible Cynthiana. Best advise do not go. Almost in the same budget is the wonderful Queens Bay Hotel just up the road. Rating should be minus 5

The hotel's location is excellent, the staff are very helpful and the rooms clean. It is a good example of a 3star hotel. Most problems arise from the tour operators misleading rating.
The rooms are a little dated and in need of refreshment but whisper is that they are closing for a couple of months to do just that. I have been four times to the hotel and will be going back again.
The problem with the cats that one reviewer mentioned, is caused by the people that feed them by the tables, responsible cat lovers feed them away from the eating area.
The staff have a hard time chasing them away because of it.

Just spent quiet week at Cynthiana Beach Hotel. Lovely views and settings, meals were very good, room ok but no tea/coffee making facilities, fridge etc extra.
Upgraded to sea view as the garden view was a car park view. Well worth the upgrade spectacular sea view.
Hotel well away from Paphos itself but local bus service takes 20 mins every 15mins, 80 cent. Taxi bit expensive £8 each way.
The thing that lets the hotel down is the lack of entertainment through the day but particularly at night time. Apart from couple of guys on guitar and organ a few times and a fashion show that was it for entertainment. Sat many a nights wondering if anything different going to happen but it didn't.
Fantastic location and views and if they were to do something about the entertainment it could be a great venue for a holiday, but until they do, if it's a quiet holiday with not much happening at nights but great sea views and sun sets, go for it.

We have just returned from a wonderful week's holiday at the Cynthiana Beach Hotel.
It's probably the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in with amazing attention to detail. This certainly is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed.
The accommodation was perfect: beautiful room, beautiful view, and truly wonderful staff.
However, (this may be an advantage for some people), the hotel is not close to the city centre (if you want to shop or eat out), and so you have to take a cab or the local bus (cheap option) or rent a car.
Our days were generally spent soaking up the sunshine and reading our books on the extremely comfortable sun-loungers. It was very difficult to concentrate on reading as it was so tempting to just look up and stare at the breath-taking views.
The best part of the day was definitely sitting outside by the beach bar with a chilled beer while watching the sunset. Paradise.
If I was to return to Cyprus - no doubt I would stay here at the Cynthiana. My wife and I had the most wonderful, relaxing, fantastic 7 days there! Highly Recommended!!

Location and public areas all fantastic - however the bedrooms are sadly dated. As has been noted sea view rooms more than compensate.
What I did find interesting was that the first room we were allocated (on the only corridor of hotel from which the sea wasn't visible) the rate card on the back of the door showed a nightly rate the same as that in the sea view top floor room, which I paid a supplement of £80 for!
Staff wonderful and couldn't be more friendly and helpful - especially the girls in the bar, heaven is sitting watching the sunset from the bar whilst sipping a brandy sour!
The real downside to the hotel was the appalling food - we were lucky that we only had B&B, and that was bad enough. On an island where every roadside stall was selling fresh citrus fruit - the hotel served up tinned peaches every day for breakfast along with black local bananas and it’s next door to a banana plantation so no excuse for rotten fruit!
We tried dinner one evening (Chinese night) and I wish we had gone to the taverna next door - the only edible item on the night's menu was the prawn crackers. To add insult to injury - the restaurant charged my daughter and I the best part of £10CYP for a glass of house wine and a diet coke!
I agree that Thomson overrate this hotel - it and the local tourist board claim a 3* rating whilst Thomson rate it 4T - goodness knows why!
Food apart - the hotel is value for money and has the best of both worlds - total peace and quiet, but a couple of minutes either direction takes you to Coral Bay or Paphos town
I would recommend it - but as the other reviewers point out take a travel kettle if you want a hot drink in your room - or be prepared to pay!

Thomson advertise this hotel in their brochure as 4* (or 4T as they call it, which we are told, is equivalent). It is not, nor does the hotel itself claim this rating.
The hotel's own notices and marketing advertise just 3*'s which in our opinion is more realistic.
Saying that the hotel's setting is fantastic; it overlooks a picturesque bay, has its own private beach and gets the sun right through the day.
The communal areas appear to have undergone some refurbishment in recent years, although the bedrooms themselves are a little dated.
However, if you can get a room with a sea view over the bay the age of the carpets and furniture doesn't really seem to matter. The hotel always seemed to be clean and the staff were both friendly and helpful.
The cliff edge described is in fact a bulk of rocks which taper to sea level, there is no big drop.
The hotel is located equidistant between Coral Bay and Pathos; it is a couple of kilometres away from both towns although just a couple of minutes drive. If you do not have a car the local bus service seemed to be pretty regular.
We stayed on a B&B rate and therefore didn't sample the evening meals; the breakfast however wasn't that great.
If you are on a room only or B&B rate there is a Taverna and a more formal restaurant right next door; they both served good food and were reasonably priced.
In summary the hotel is a little dated and the food isn't fantastic, but its setting, private beach and amazing views do make up for that.
We would be quite happy to recommend the hotel and would go back ourselves.
However, do not expect a 4* hotel.

Rooms were excellent; we had adjoining rooms which were perfect for the 5 in our party. Maid service was every day and it was not noisy at all.
We went at the end of March which is a quiet time of the year anyway. Not a good time of year to go, especially if you have kids like we did.
Very little for them to do in off season and the pool was absolutely freezing, it took your breath away literally, sea was probably 1 degree warmer, good job the indoor pool was there.
We stopped half board, meals were fine and the service good, ate out a couple of times when we didn’t fancy the menu, most of our money was spent on drinks.
Found the whole island was very expensive compared to Kos, where we had been the year before.
I would hate to do a self catering holiday here. Lovely hotel, great position, car recommended though.
