That is what I said when we first arrived and told us we could not get into our rooms. We were then told to place our luggage in an unlocked room, to my surprise with maybe 20 more inside, also waiting. We arrived around 11 in the afternoon and had to wait til 2 before we... more

On arrival, was shown to a room up 2 flights of stairs. Not the handiest when you've got two kids under the age of 3 with you. Anyway, room was ok, bit tired looking to be honest, bathroom could do with a refurb, but everything seemed to work. As we settled down to an early... more

Fantastic new appartments
Arrived mid afternoon, shown to a brand new apartment which was fantastic, even had a jacuzzi bath. Everywhere is clean and first class. A new part is being built to the complex which they hope will be finished for next year but this didnt interfere with our holday in the least, and we were staying on the part near the building site, I should say that building is stopped for the season so there is no noise. Quiet area...but not a quiet hotel...Emily is really nice and makes your holiday worth while....nothing is too much trouble. The greek night was great and really entertaining.
Our Honeymoon was the best
We arrived at the village during lunch time so got to see it in all it's glory with all the staff at work and all the guests lounging by the pool and bar and before I could say a word myself and my wife were welcomed by the english speaking staff who sat us down with a glass of orange juice as they told us all we needed to know about the village. It was all going so well when we were told that our room that had been allocated to us was not ready, I thought she ment that it wasn't cleaned yet but what she ment was it was still being built. As shocked as I was they went on to explain that all that need to be done was tiling but untill that was done we was going to be staying in the hotel right next door. A little upset we did'nt argue becase the staff seemed just as upset at telling us as we were however they made sure that we were looked after and even got us upgraded to a room with a queen-size bed (after I told them it was our honeymoon) Most days were spent by the pool where we met couples and familys from all over and had all enjoyed their stay at the village from which I learned that the rooms where of a very high standard and come complete with air conditioning and near to new kitchen layout. If you are lucky enough to get the new rooms which have just been built then you're in for a treat. Brand new throughout with remote control air conditioning, new kitchen appliances, sat tv and one of the suites even had a jacuzzi bath.....very nice indeed. The food is a must to try here from breakfast to the snack bar you'll have a good choice but the one not to miss is the greek night which brings to you a whole choice of greek flavor cooked on the BBQ with the favorites for the kids like bugers, sausages and chips and once you've hovered up desert just sit down with a drink a enjoy the greek dancers but be prepared to be pulled out of the chair for some dancing fun. You'll also get a chance to dress up and take part in some greek traditional dances. That night for us was special becasue the hotel got us up in front of all the guests and told them it was our honeymoon and it was then that the manager and staff gave us a gift each and a bottle of champagne which we got sprayed with and had to drink of each other (greek tradition we got told). The whole night was great for us and familys alike. Without a doubt WE WILL return to St Constantin. Never have we been soooooooo looked after by people who would consider you to be very close family.
Brilliant Place
This was my first holiday abroad, and was very worried about the level of accommodation in other counties. The room was brilliant, loads and loads of space, clean and well looked after. When we arrived the people where wonderful, so friendly. The room was excellent, we could watch the entertainment from our room. The pool was excellent. Plenty of sun beds. The food was very good too, the English breakfast was spot on. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, all ages.
Perfect
This hotel was the perfect base for a perfect holiday. The apartments were large, clean and had all the amenities needed for a self catering holiday. It also had an excellent roof terrace for adults only to relax and soak up the sun. The staff were exyremely helpfull and always very pleasent to talk to, nothing was ever too much trouble. The complex itself is geared towards people of all age groups and lifestlyes. Gouves itself is an excellent resort. The beaches, resturants and its people have alot to be proud of. would definatley return and have already recommended it to other people.
Beautiful place, lovely blue and white apartment
I agreed with Gerhard_Seibold who had wrote about it. We went there on first week of July 04. We had a fabulous holiday, everything was great. Family who work there was brilliant. Barmaid Dimo what a laugh guy, he always cheer everyone up. Good Weather, lovely place, apartment was very clean. Find nothing to complain!! Our kids love it! Very safe place for kids too. Thinking go back again next year mmm!!
San Constantin - The Best
Brilliant place, brilliant people. Going back for 7th consecutive visit next week. Thoroughly enjoyable, relaxing place to go and chill out, particularly in September or October when the Greeks themselves start to wind down for the end of season. Good place to base for trips round the east and middle of the island of Crete itself. Would recommend this complex to anyone - old, young, married, single - anyone.
Absolutly brilll
The St. Constantin hotel is one of the most amazing hotels in the entire world. It may not be the most ritziest hotel ever but it has some of the friendlyest staff i have ever met. I have been there three times but there are people that have been going ever since the hotel has opened. The rooms are clean and very well desinged. The staff are the most welcoming in the world. If you like wild loud and fun for all adults and a fun time for kids of all ages this is the place for. If you dont just go earlier in the year. Overall if you want the best holiday experience of your lifes then go to the st constantin village hotel
Wonderful Greek Sunshine in Sunny Crete
Hi we returned from sunny Gouves just a couple of weeks ago. We must say this holiday is worth every penny. We have travelled around the world a lot before in our lives but rarely have met such a welcoming atmosphere, enthusiasm and friendlyness by the locals. The staff in St Constantin could not have been any better if they tried, I cannot critisize virtually ANYTHING. I was totally amazed at their friendlyness yet their total effeciency and their ability to deal with any serious problems very quickly and very thoroughly. The apartments were spotless clean and were cleaned EVERY DAY except Sunday, very spacious and fully equipped. The Location is great, set in the quieter area of Gouves, only a little 2 minute stroll away from one of the many beaches around. Some lovely tavernas along the beachfront and the prices were reasonable as well. Security is number one in crete where the Lifequard patrolls the beach constantly and will blow the whistle at anyone who swims too far out, which is a good thing. Nightlife, opposing the comments that I have read previous to this trip in other reviews, I have to disagree. yes Gouves is a quiet resort, but St Constantin certainly isn't a quiet location in the evenings, where the pool bar plays music until 3 am. Also I must say they have the best Barman I have EVER met. Dimo is an absolute star, this quy has such a wicked sense of humour, it just isn t from this world. He can keep you going all night, laughing your socks off. Many guests here return time and time again, met people who returned up to 8 times in total, and right so because even though you are self catering the service feels like it s an all inclusive. To top it all Crete is a wonderful island, and features practically anything one could desire. If I could amend anything at all, I would only say that the optional excursions are a bit pricey, but hey don t they cost a lot whereever you go ? Apart from that, which is not the fault of St Constantin anyway, I cannot think of anything else. So if you are thinking of booking a holiday there, I definatly say GO ON, YOU LL ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT if it s not booked out yet, which can happen very easily here, you ll definatly wil not regret it. The appartements have theirown website
Our Big Fat Greek Wedding!
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. We stayed here in July 03, my parents have been coming here for a few years and in fact, we were there in '03 for my brothers wedding, we are Greek Orthodox although live in Scotland. The church there was in the most wonderful setting. Myself and my family have become close friends with the proprietors and the staff, the place itself was great, staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms great, an all round great place for families or for those looking for a quieter holoday. Highly recommended!
great appartments. quiet location
We booked 2 weeks prior to departure and it cost us ?196 each. We chose the San Constantin appartments and I am so glad we did.THE APPARTMENT COMPLEX Had a mini market and a Gym which had modern equipment although I did not use it, there was an indoor swimming pool as well as outdoor. Playstation had about 30 games and there was two pool tables, table tennis and a sauna. The pool was quite small but it was fine for us. There was an enclosed mini grass football pitch and an enclosed mini basketball court as well as a children's play area. The roof which is adults only has sunbeds if you want quiet. Pool bar had a large tv for football games. In summary I think this has to be the best self catering appartment I have stayed in.THE APPARTMENT ROOM Very spacious, has a fridge, cooking hob, shower in the bath and looked very clean. You can hire a microwave or toaster for extra. Wardrobes came with about 50 hangers.TV had many channels but the only English one was CNN that I could find. Balcony had 3 chairs and a table.OTHER GUESTS When speaking to other people, they were very happy with the place and I was told that it has a 52% return rate and somebody tried to book in 2001 and the only date availble from May was in the middle of September.THE STAFF Excellent is probably the best word. Could not be faulted. Receptionists were very helpful and friendly.THE RESORT It is about 20 minute walk to the centre of Gouves about 900m. In September we found it too quiet and at 1am most bars were empty and the busiest had under 10 people in it although the barman said it was a lot busier a few weeks ago.No clubs, there is a bowling alley but we never went to that, has the usual clothes shops bars, and restaurants.Quite a few Germans were present. There are a few beaches along the the sea front, some pebble but mostly sandy, 2 Euro or a sunbed and 2 Euro for an umbrella.PLACES TO DRINK In the centre of Gouves the 'Yard of Ale' pub or the Coctail bar which I have forgotten the name of were the busiest.PLACES TO EAT In the centre of Gouves the best place was Atlantis and then Blue Sky. The Best fired breakfast was at Dmitri's.If you don't want to walk into the centre then near the hotel there is Milios which do lovely pizzas and have a large wine selection and George's place which is very cheap and does nice food. I recommend that you do drink the house wine at George's place as it is very nice and very cheap. Meal for two with wine cost 14.50 Euro at George's place and 30 Euro at Milios but that included a 10 Euro bottle of Chardonnay.I recommend going to the Greek or Mediteranean night at the Hotel 12 Euro for a buffet dinner and greek dancingPLACES TO GO WaterCity is the best waterpark but Aquasplash is also worth a visit if you want to go to a waterpark twice like I did.Starbeach in Hersonisos might be worth a visit for a day as there is a mini waterpark there and many watersports activities. There is also Go Karting which cost 15 Euro for 10 minutes but was good fun.PLACES TO GO AT NIGHT A trip to Malia was great fun and cost about 3 Euro by bus there and 24 Euro for a return taxi and it had plenty of bars and clubs and is for young and lively. Hersonnisos had a bars and club and was quite lively and is only half the distance away.SUMMARY I would recommend this place if you want a quiet holdiay or if you have kids but for a young couple I would recommend going somewhere a little closer to Malia unless you only plan to go there a couple of times then Gouves is OK. We had a good time and San Constantin is an excellent place to stay.If you want pictures of the appartment then visit my website www.schapman.co.uk.The website for this hotel is http://www.stconstantin.gr
