We booked this very late based on generally good reviews and lack of choice of 4* hotels in area available. Arrived at 0400 very tired and shown to 2 bedroom apartment opposite hotel. initial impression was a bit grubby, mould on wall in bed 1, kitchen appliances very old. Balcony had stunning view of local GRAVEYARD !!!! nice (not)
We was then offered choice of other smaller rooms in main hotel. Accepted one with pool view in quiet area on 2nd floor. Seemed a lot more modern, good air-con, comfy beds, functional shower etc. Check-in and Bell boy service good. OK so far.
Was woken at 0745 after 2hrs sleep by noise of stampede from people desperate to claim prime sun beds. All places reserved within 20mins mainly by English guests. We got up and had breakfast and our holiday began...........
Good things.!! The Hotel is situated in a lovely peaceful area on the outskirts of Marmaris at the foot of Forest covered mountains away from the main resort. Very peaceful but you can walk to several nearby shops & bars etc within 5-10 mins if you need too. The Hotel seems fairly well equiped, we enjoyed the £25 Turkish bath soap/scrub/face mask/full massage treatment which was excellent value and quality. Also recommend the Hotel barber for haircut and traditional shave - lovely chap.
Food is OK but does get very repetitive after few days. Hot selection not great, food often tepid & very dry where its been left for hours in hot trays. serious lack of veg selection. Breakfast always limited to traditional Turkish style but nice. Snack bar food served around pool always same and again mostly cooked hours before and left in trays. Bars ok - limited choice - local beer, gin, vodka, raki and soft drinks. no option to buy decent brands. large queues and often only one person serving. frequently running out of drinks throughout day. Generally Disappointing for 4*. Pool is very nice and slides keep kids occupied. Animation team very good (Chucky & Coco) but Evening entertainment very poor. Indoor pool and sauna / Hamman very nice.
Bad things !! The whole holiday was spoilt by gangs of English kids being allowed to run riot around the reception and lounge areas. This led to staff closing the lifts frequently despite having several disabled guests needing access to upper floors. These kids were all English and staff were powerless to intervene without receiving torrents of verbal abuse and physical threats. The parents seemed to be totally oblivious to the unacceptable behavior going on and either lazed around the pool or sat at the bar getting lashed. The problem escalated for several days until one day, the kids decided to empty several of the metal poolside rubbish bins into the pool and throw the empty bins down the waterslides repeatedly causing serious hazard to guests swimming in the pools. after several complaints by guests, staff confiscated the bins and took the rubbish away. within minutes, more bins were emptied into the pool and thrown down the slides. Eventually hotel management were called upon and observered the chaos, identifying the culprits. Several parents were given final warnings that they would be expelled and one pair were totally banned from the pool areas for the rest of their holiday - good call !!!. Many English families left after our 1st week and were replaced with French / Dutch / Danes etc and I must admit was glad to see as they behaved impeccably.
The dining area is located around the main entertainment stage which causes massive problem where many families reserve tables for Bingo at 1700, stay seated drinking until dinner at 1900, eat then stay seated drinking even more until the kids club and late entertainment takes place at 2200. this causes huge backlog of people trying to find places to eat during advertised meal time. Stage needs to be relocated away from dining area to avoid this happening.
TV lounge is total waste of space as it is usually overrun buy kids and has local TV only and never any movies etc. Gym is poor, 2 running machines, 2 bikes and 1 dumbell - normally full of kids.
To summarize - nice hotel in lovely location totally ruined by kids being allowed to run around screaming and wrecking things. Embarrassed to be called English - glad when they left and were replaced by Europeans who know how to behave. Staff were generally very nice but seem to have given up trying. Don’t blame them really. There is no way this hotel justifies its 4* rating compared to others we have stayed in throughout various areas of Turkey. This was our 7th holiday in Turkey and we felt totally let down by the English guests staying their. I have never witnessed such behavior outside of the Spanish Costas and will never moan about the Germans or French again after this episode.
If you - like us, do get fed up with the food selection / quality I recommend the Sincerity bar 3 minutes down the hill. They do brilliant Sunday roast, a full English for less than £2 and offer a decent selection of known beers and spirits etc. also give top service.

I would firstly like to say that ALL of the bad reviews are absolute rubbish!! the entertainment team were immense, they work non stop to keep us going round the pool and on a night time...they even take you clubbing after that. Chucky, Coco and Leo (the three main ones) were hilarious and were always trying to impress...Chucky finishes at 4 in the morning and starts again at 10!! the food was nice but it did get slightly repetetive, but why do people come to turkey for and english breakfast?! the staff were helpful and funny, they always tried to make you smile despite a low level of english, the two shops in the hotel are the only ones in marmaris where you dont get ANY hassle!! the rooms were kept clean and tidy and the maids stole nothing...theyd be fired otherwise!! the pool was clean and it was useful how sunbeds were kept back for latecomers during the day. there were several bars which was handy so that you did less walking. WE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED IT!! the only complaint we do have....is that we didnt win the bingo...

I thought i would write a review as i am sick of reading the ignorance of some peoples reviews on this hotel.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Kervansaray last Sept and we loved it so much that we have booked to go again this Sept and we both can't wait.
The Food - No its not A La Carte but i didn't expect this, we both thought there was a huge variety for everyone, in the evenings as well as the buffet hall they have BBQ's outside where you can sample traditional Turkish cuisine. A bottle of water is ALWAYS put on your table and we found that the food was very fresh.
The Entertainment - There is a small Amphitheater where the entertainment is shown. Each night the animation team put on a show, one night is could be a fire eater, the next a belly dancer. In the day the Animation team are usually around the main pool area, (there is a smaller pool on site which has two water slides, its a lot quieter than the large pool so we decided to do our sunbathing at this one) they have games around the pool, aerobics and volleyball which they will encourage you to get involved in. There is also a night club on site which we didn't go to last year, the night club opens at about 12:30am to 1am when the free bars have closed in the hotel, its located quite a way down the hill.
The beach - I wouldn't really call it a beach and this is the one thing that is slightly disappointing. The beach consists of a small jetty with sunbeds on which leads out to the sea, this is accessible by one of the little cable car type things which take you down the steep hill to the beach, you can walk down also.
The Hotel - Very clean, out room consisted of 2 singe beds (which we pushed together) and a sofa (which also turned into a bed) out room was cleaned daily and toiletries also changed, e.g. soap, shower gel etc (free from hotel) in the main building there are about 4 floors i think, the bottom floor has a gym, beauty salon and massage, it also has a jewelers shop and a small grocery shop where you can buy cigarettes, gifts, snacks etc.
Out and about - It is so easy to get out and about to Bodrum Centre and Harbour. There is a dolmus which stops at the bottom of the hill to the hotel, where the security are and this usually comes every 15mins. The bus costs 50p and takes you to the small bus park in the centre, here you can catch other buses to Gumbet etc. If you like to do abit of sight seeing while you away, i recommend you take a trip to visit the ancient city of Emphasis. The journey does take about 3 hours, however what you see is spectacular.
As you can see from reading the above, our stay at the Kervansaray was far from terrible, it was magic.

Really wish i'd of read the reviews first but to be honest didnt even think about it. It was last minute, and we got what we thought was a good deal. I wouldnt stay here for free!!!!

our first deluxe family appartment, over looked the cemetery. bed setee on the floor, upstairs where two kids would have been sleeping, patio doors could be pulled open, no lock, only one curtain which covered half the window. managed to change rooms, which they said would take ten minutes, 3 hours later it was ready. above the dining room, very noisy, by the end of the week we were shattered. food not good, couldnt accomodate everybody, people trying to find tables. only one bar, young girls served first. room not very clean, stains on the floor from spilt drinks not cleaned up. lots of kids with laser pens runnng around. the gym was a joke, seen better equipment at the tips.never heard so many people complain. best part of the holiday was when the bus came to pick us up.

The worst place I have ever been too, DON'T BOOK TO GO HERE!! The best part of the holiday was coming home....a member of staff asked me if I would come back, I said no, his response was "no-one ever does, its crap here" I would say 2 star would be generous, but no way on earth is this 4 star.
Everywhere was filthy.
The dining room regularly had no cutlery, cups or glasses, with dirty chairs and stained, dirty and un-ironed table cloths. The food was boring to say the least, they ran out of things and didnt replace them, always chicken or turkey in some sort of sauce and the kids menu was chicken nuggets every night. They have a communal room where you cold help yourself to coffee, juice, wine and water but, again, rarely any glasses or cups, and rare the machines were working. One morning there was not a single water dispenser that had water! Some people had even been out and bought mugs to use!
There was only ever one bar open in the evening, it was very small and they only serve gin, voda, raki, beer and soft drinks.....if they had any! They ran out of Gin on our first night, the wine is disgusting and cloudy, not good for all inclusive. Queues of upto 40 people waiting for a drink, with one man serving. The staff regularly wore stained dirty crumpled uniforms.
The pool seemed OK, but the area around the pool was dirty and very slippy all the time. The sunbeds were crammed in, dirty cushions and there were 9 parasols for the whole pool area. If you wanted a sun bed, you need to be out by 8am as they are all reserved with towels.
The stairs and corridors were always stained with spilt drinks, and cleaned once in the week we were there.
The room.....? Dirty when we arrived really. The pillows were stained, lumpy and had no pillow cases, and there were no top sheets, just a strange thin blanket type thing, which was the same size as the bed so you could not cover up! There was a type of bedspread, brown, frayed with pulled threads, we didnt use these!! There were new towels everyday but one, but they are old, rough and certainly not white. The room was supposed to be cleaned every other day, this wasn't done ever despite asking. The one socket was hanging off the wall. Satellite TV was advertised, great if you like the BBC World Service as this was the only english channel!. The bathroom was serviceable, half the shower screen was missing and it was never cleaned, we also had to ask for toilet paper.
The entertainment was shocking, the male staff concentrate most of their time on young women, and the fitness centre is a joke, two running machines and two bikes in the filthiest room of the hotel.
Positive things? Thank god we only went for a week, the air con in the room did work and there are some good trips to go on.

Too many problems and complaints about Karvansaray, Marmaris!. Just a few (not all):
Have to collect toilet rolls from reception as the rooms are rarely cleaned. Floors are never cleaned. Bedside table lamp with live wires hanging out of it. Wall sockets showing wires. This is extremely dangerous for children.Bed linen not changed, only occasionally re-made to make you think they have been.
Wine or juice was spilt on the spiral staircase. This was reported to the staff late evening, which they confirmed would be cleaned. Next morning it was still there. Ice cream rarely provided with main meal. It is sold for 5TL at the poolside instead (inclusive?). Poolside very dirty, full of sugar (from spilt drinks and food). This created a v.large number of bees flying around.
Elevator breaking down with two poor girls stuck in it for 30 minutes.
Food very poor (be especially wary of sausages from the day before, from experience!). Multiple thefts from the rooms (Money, hair dryers, clothes, Nintendo DS), which were reported but ignored as the staff show little interest. Debit card copied while wallet was in the bedroom and lots of money taken from account (with fraud dept)!!!. Staff seen being taken away in rip-chord cuffs... reception manager sacked half way through the holiday, which we were told to us by the new reception manager when we reported clothes were missing from the room.

spent a week at the Kervansary from 21st to 30th september. I have never seen such crap food in any hotel i have stayed in before. It was virtually same stuff all the time and i am not a fussy eater. If it was edible, it was usually cold. I complained to restuarant manage about the food and said it was cold, he said the trays warm, but the food was cold. I complained to the rep and she said It was turkish cuisine that they served, and I felt like saying, dont open it up to the english tourists then. I found out later that even the Turkish people were complaining about the food. The snack bar at the pool area was open from 2 till 4. the chef started cooking the food at 12,30, so when he put it out at 2, it was cold. this was changed after I complained about that.I ended up being ill with stomach cramps and had to visit the pharmacy and i never get ill on holiday. The pool area had wasps and I did feel sorry for people with young babies. All that could of been resolved if the lazy staff just cleared away the food quicker, instead of hours late and even the next morning. On the good side, our apartment was nice and clean. the entertainment staff Coco and Leo were fantastic. There are some nice restuarants down the road, cousins and serenetary.
will defenatly not be visiting the kervansary again, and its such a shame because it could be nice if they made more of an effort.
