this hotel is good.the woman who runs it is the same as everyone if you are polite to her she is fine. the breakfast is not perfect but if you want to go out go up to the castle oppersite the entrance is the panarama resturant for 8 euros you get a very good deal.the best part of this hotel is the pool.very big never packed and clean. the town of molyvos is the best i have been to. food in town great. try the gatos.it was the best we found. i would go again. real greece.

The situation of the hotel was...

Sep 2008, Mrs M Watson

The situation of the hotel was amazing - the views from our balcony were spectacular, we could see the castle, across the harbour to the rest of Lesvos and across to Turkey.
We have no complaints about the hotel with the exception that the lady running it comes across as quite rude - although this is probably due to a language barrier. Whatever you do, dont leave your windows open if you have air conditioning! Shes not a force to be reckoned with! Breakfast was very simple - bread, jam, cake, coffee/tea and orange squash every day - we ended up going out one morning to have a different breakfast just to have a change! Rooms are basic as you expect in traditional Greece, however kept clean. We are returning next year for two weeks instead of one so it obviously hit the spot!
Molyvos is Greece at its best, if you're looking for peace and quiet, cobbled streets and good traditional food then this is the place for you, we tried a number of taverna's all of which were very good and reasonable value for money, although seafood was quite expensive. We really loved the place and it was just what we were looking for! The steep slope from the hotel down to the taverna's etc kept us fit while we were there, although I wouldn't recommend it for people with young children/pushchairs etc or for anyone with walking difficulties. Other than that there should be no problems!

The hotel and poolside has fabulous views of coast and castle, you get a nice breeze as it's on top of a hill. Accommodation is very Spartan. The lady owner was extremely rude to us on arrival because our flight was delayed and we had kept her up late! Hardly our fault, she remained extremely inhospitable for the 2 weeks of our stay. THis did not spoil the hol however, pool is great, picturesque but very steep cobbled streets down to the town, a killer to walk up in the heat of the day! Beaches are nice, food very unimpressive, only had 1 decent meal in 2 weeks. No fresh fish in the harbour- all frozen! Worth a visit but only for a week- hire car recommended.

Jul 2008, Mrs K Slattery

A lovely hotel but a bit remote to say the least, going out on an evening was something else.
You had to get a taxi back up the very steep hill after walking down for our evening meal.
Breakfast was very poor, we gave up having it in the end and ate out, the owners however are lovely people but dont go out of their way to feed you.
Everything at the hotel closed at about 8 o clock in the evening this didnt bother us as we ate out every night, but if you have children dont stay at this hotel.
You have to be good at walking and not scared of lots of goats that you have to pass every night when going out.
Molyvos however scenery wise is just beautiul we would love to return but we wont be choosing the Acropol hotel.

The Acropol provides typically basic greek accomodation just 10 minuates from the charming harbour and resort centre of Molivos. The village is situated on a hill with cobbled streets leading down to the beach / harbour, (No good for high heels! or anyone with walking difficulties ). We really enjoyed this quiet and relaxing holiday, and i can recommend 'The Tropicana' (small greek taverna situated in a village square between Acropol and the Harbour, great local food, with nice atmosphere). Hope this helps!

Small (17 rooms) well maintained and clean hotel with huge pool situated near Molivos castle and at top of long, steep hills from harbour and town. If you’re heading back to the hotel it’s uphill!
Our room was very small with a fridge next to the bed and a tiny balcony that got sun for the first few hours of the day - shade afternoon & evening. Most other rooms were bigger and some had a sunny balcony afternoon / evening.
Bar had closed each evening by 10pm - probably because everyone went out to drink/eat. The exception was the Saturday night Barbeque at 15 Euros each which was very poor value (one kebab, some salad and an ice-cream plus a very small bottle of old wine that tasted like sherry). Don’t bother - there are lots of excellent restaurants nearby - notably the Tropicana in a nearby square.
The whole area is not really suitable for children over 5 as there’s not a lot to do

The Acropol hotel is the place to go...
10 / 10
Jul 2004, Miss N Greig

The Acropol hotel is the place to go if you’re looking for a tranquil and relaxing holiday. Nestled behind the Castle it has magnificent views overlooking the coast and Turkey.
I would not recommend it for anyone with walking difficulties due to the rather steep hill but it is worth that extra bit effort if not for the tranquillity and being able to watch several hundred goats being shepherded past the hotel at dusk.
The accommodation is clean, basic and in a traditional Greek style which is to be expected when visiting a traditional old Greek town (although some people just enjoy a good moan!). Molivos itself is an atmospheric old town with stunning views and traditional tavernas and restaurants.
There is also a club on the beach, which is open Thu - Sun if you fancy something a little more lively. A previous reviewer said they would not return due to the bad beaches, utter nonsense! there are several beautiful beaches, some of which are off the tourist track. If you want old Greece, good conversation, excellent cuisine and a getaway from hustle and bustle and large groups of noisy, drunken tourists then Molivos is the place for you!
