Sunset Bay Apartments

A beautiful complex situated one mile from the centre of Playa de las Americas and 200 metres from the nearest beach at Puerto Colon Marina. The nearby promenade, built on three levels has an excellant variety of shops, bars and restaurants and the very popular Aqua Park is within easy walking distance.

I have recently come back from a stay at Sunset Bay

The rooms were clean apart from the Cockroaches running around the room and the complex at night. The onsite bars/restaurants were nice although a little expensive. But the area its self in Adeje (which is near Playa De Las Americas) wasnt so clean.

All i can say is if you do not like Cockroaches this is not the place for you

I would not stay at this hotel or resort again

Well I exchanged my timeshare weeks to go to sunset bay and was really dissapointed in the fact the resort was very hilly, some parts dirty, cant believe there are no lifts at all especially to the higher apartments. We were in C block to begin with but after the first night we asked to be moved because it was like living in a sewer...beware if they put you in this block..We were moved to K block which was a much nicer apartment but really noisy at night especially at 4 in the morning when the bin men come to empty the bottle banks they have no consideration for us holiday makers. Also beware of the sun bed saga at this complex its a absolute nightmare, people reserve beds and management do nothing about it. If ya up at 7.00am in the morning you should be ok to get a bed but much after that then forget it. One morning it got the better of me so i was up at 6am and there wer no beds as they were full of towels.....Can you believe it!!!!! The place is full of "regulars" so if you aint been before then you feel kinda "in the way"

Bars on the complex personally i only went to the "sun inn" this was good for brekki but i wouldnt reccommend the poolside bar, the owner needs to learn to have manners and also SMILE!!! The restauraunts looked dirty and in need of a good overhaul. Lot of cockroaches in the evening...URGHHH. We didnt stay on the complex at night we went to sunset harbour across the road its gorgeous there we stayed there last year - well recommend the bar on there called "regent street" absolutely excellent food and compere andy james is a star, also have good entertainment on there too so go and pay it a visit.

Im hopefully going back to sunset harbour next year if not ill go back to where i own.. but one thing for sure ill NEVER go to sunset bay again. It's 20 years old and the worst and oldest one in the chain of three on the island. Check out Sunset Harbour and Sunset Beach Club these beat the bay hands down.

Cant reccomend a block to be in coz the lower ones are too noisy and the higher ones are up cardiac hill.......

Happy Holidays!!!!!!

Before we set off to these apartments, I read the reviews posted and was absolutely terrified that we would be given an apartment which was not suitable for myself and 2 children, but I couldn't have been far wrong. We were allocated an apartment at Block J, a bit of a struggle with cases and pram etc, but none the less was worth it. The apartment was clean and very comfortable. Large balcony with 2 sunloungers and umbrella. Spacious lounge and air conditioning in both bedroom and living room which was a comfort when the temp. reached 28 C one day. The onsite facilities are excellent. Try Porkies for a great breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Just returned from Tenerife - scratchcard people now desperate - have been tightly restricted in Arona (Los Cristianos) so infest Las Americas - in particular Puerto Colon was appalling. Our parents were ripped off by these people so my husband tried to warn some tourists - was physically threatened (we both were) 3 times in half an hour by 3 different sets of these people - amazing how they seem really pleasant and turn really nasty when challenged! Latest hooks - hi guys, where are you from/ are you friendly british people/these are just discount cards for the market etc - the trick is to keep walking - once you stop they step in front of you waving their arms around making it difficult to get past if you have children. beware - we are trying to get our parents (in their eighties) out of the contract but it is not proving easy and Barclays bank not helping at all

WE HAVE JUST RETURNED FROM OUR SECOND VISIT TO SUNSET BAY. IT IS WELL MAINTAINED AND THE APARTMENT WAS COMFORTABLE WITH A LARGE BALCONY. WE FOUND THE SUN INN WAS GOOD ON SITE FOR MEALS AND ENTERTAINMENT. HOWEVER WE WERE ALLOCATED AN APARTMENT IN G BLOCK , IT IS VERY STEEP FROM RECEPTION AND THERE ARE NO LIFTS ON THIS COMPLEX SO YOU NEED A PORTER TO GET YOUR LUGGAGE UP THERE. UNFORTUNATLY OUR APARTMENT WAS BURGLED , AS G BLOCK IS NEXT TO THE PERIMITER FENCE INTRUDERS CAN GET IN AND OUT OF THE COMPLEX UNDETECTED, WE WERE NOT THE ONLY VICTIMS! THE RESORT STAFF MOVED US DOWN TO F BLOCK WHICH WAS MORE VISIBLE AND FITTED A PIECE IF WOOD TO OUR PATIO DOORS IN AN ATTEMPT TO KEEP OUT THEIVES, HOWEVER AS THE FRONT DOOR OF OUR APARTMENT ON G BLOCK WAS LEFT OPEN BY THE THEIVES I SUSPECT THAT WAS THE POINT OF ENTRY BUT THE RESORT DID NOT WANT TO ADMIT THAT. AFTER 14 YEARS OF TROUBLE FREE HOLIDAYS IN TENERIFE WE WILL PROBLY RETURN BECAUSE THE WEATHER IS SO GOOD ,BUT ITS SHABBY AND THE STREETS ARE PILED HIGH WITH ROTTING REFUSE ASE THE BIN MEN ARE ON STRIKE AT THE MOMENT.

I bought a week in G block in 1985, and later 2 weeks in the same block, it was the best money ever spent. Love Sunset Bay, it´s like home from home, the apartments are always spotless clean, bedding and towels are changed daily and at times unnecessary, usually have a ´please don´t disturb´sign on the door handle, any problems are sorted out immediately, I must admit I do expect it being an owner, not too keen on Tenerife though, the place needs a good clean and a good paint, and to keep tourists visiting the island I think something needs to be done. Spoke to a few business people in October last year and they were worried about the amount of tourists visiting the island, and I don´t blame them.

I'll start with what was good - a nice size apartment, kitchen was well equiped and updated, very large balcony with nice view of the ocean. Good location - convenient to the beach and restaurants. Around town: the staff at the Wigins Arms were delightful and nothing beats breakfast on the beach at the Beach Bar. We are accustomed to having our beach vacation in the Caribbean, but liked Tenerife and what it had to offer.

That is all I can offer on the positive side, it goes down hill from there...the apartment furniture was old and dirty, the linens hard to come by, old and worn. Pillows (if you could call them that) without cases - yuck! The bathroom was tiny and in desperate need of a scrub brush and complete renovation. Your feet were constantly black from the flooring in the apartment. The common areas were also old, worn and dated - paint peeling everywhere. Heated pool? What a joke: 18C / 64F is not heated! Pool towels, bring your own - they will rent you some old, worn towels if they have any to offer. Staff spoke good English, but were pretty useless most of the time. We were in D block on the 4th floor over the restaurants/bars - there were some very noisy moments in the middle of the night.

We exchanged in to this with options from our time share - what a rip off! This doesn't even come close to being equivalent to our home resort Harborside at Atlantis. Í'd really like to know what they get for this junky piece of real estate - probably less than my annual maintenance fee.

Tenerife is an old resort town showing it's age. There is much construction going on and much more renovation and cleanup still needed. But it had a certain charm that we enjoyed. We might return to Tenerife in the future, but NEVER to Sunset Bay!

This resort is in a great loacation just a short 5 min walk to the beach.

There are many bars and resturants on site all of which have very friendy staff

There are two good size pools at this resort - with pleanty of room for sunbathing.

The apartments are very spacious with satalite television.

One bad thing about the resort is there are no lifts and it can be quite a walk to some of the apartments.

I own week 51 in h block and week 52 in b block. I can not praise the complex enough. Both my apartments are very spacious and both have two sun terraces, two bathrooms and two bedrooms. Both rooms sleep six people. The service maids are second to none and the facilities on the complex are better than any other complex i have vsited in tenerife and i have visited a few in the past few years. The area around the complex has changed drastically over the past few years. The road works near the complex are complete, the shopping centre two minutes away is complete and for those who have difficulty with steps there is an elevator that leads from the main street down to the beech. Taxis are for nothing. Grab a cab straight to your door. H block is quite high up on the complex but i took a cab right to my door due to a back problem all the way from the market area for less than 5 euros. Not worth walking. I am a family of seven with the two youngest aged 6 and seven. They would have been happy to have never left the complex. There is family entertainment by the top pool every day and also a childrens entertainment programme throughout the day to give you a little space.

The reception staff are most helpful and nothing is a problem to them. There is the added bonus of a free laundry on the complex which i found a massive help. put the washing in and go sun bathe for a hour, how perfect. Of the many bars on the complex the wiggan bar is a must for really good honest food. The lotus restaurant (chinese buffet) is a perfect place to eat and is fantastic value. The proprietor served us at 1.30 am on our arrival date even though the kitchen had closed. She reopened and served some really great food to a starving mum and dad and five very hungry kids. Free shots after the meal helped us settle down for the night( adults only of course)

I travel a lot with my family and sunset bay has everything to offer to suit every member of my family. I can not wait to return. Thank you to all the members of the sunset bay team. See you soon. H303 and B206 week 51 and week 52 The smiths

The apartment is large and has a big balcony that has great views and catches the sun almost all day. Bedrooms & living room have air conditioning which makes a world of difference overnight for a good night’s sleep. Kitchen is functional with fridge/freezer, cooker, toaster etc. Bathroom has bath/shower, loo, basin, & bidet.

The resort has differing styles of eateries from snack bars to proper sit-down meals. The small bar situated above the lower pool is fab for sitting with a cold beer or wine and watching the world go by.

Check-in was prompt with friendly staff. Washing machines and dryers are available on site. All of the grounds are very clean with maintenance staff walking round all day cleaning & tidying.

Whilst we were there, there was a hefty garden maintenance program taking place with palm trees being cropped for both safeties’ sake and to let more of the glorious sunshine get through to you.

The complex with situated only a few minutes from the sea front. I would highly recommend a trip to Loro Parc where they have Orca Whales, dolphins and many other animals it was a great day.

Our rep Stephen was great very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a quiet, clean place to stay close the beach and walking distance to many other attractions. I will definitely be going again.

Sunset Bay is great for both couples and families, quiet & very, very enjoyable.

We purchased a week at Sunset Bay on the timeshare resale market and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunset Bay.

Lastly, we weren't bothered by any reps chasing us whilst we stayed - we didn't get any knocks at the door, no phone calls, and no reps trying to cold call you as you sat around the pool.

The only downer I found was that during the afternoon a game of bingo was played that brought out cigarette smoking old dears who would whoop & yelp for the half hour it went on for.

Sunset Bay is great for both couples and families, quiet & very, very enjoyable.

Been back a week, and we really enjoyed the apartments. 1 bedroom 3 of us, son on guest bed which was very comfy. Very clean apartments, maid service excellent, FREE laundry facilities. We were in Block I which looked over the small 'square' where reception was and looked across to 'top' pool which could be a bit noisy at times but your on holiday and it didn't last too long.

Reception staff were very helpful, even to sending on photo's that had been taken day before we left and which we thought we wouldn't see!!! They arrived today. Reception area looking a bit 'tired' but believe it is in line for a refurb and it classed as the 'base' apartments for Sunterra. Went on the timeshare 'tour' and NO hard sale given, didn't take it this time round but might do as we have booked for another complex with same company next year.

So I would recommend these apartments if you wanted a quiet hol, Block D and bottom pool too busy for us.
