I stayed at the La Penita in June 07 with my boyfriend. I am a travel agent, so you can imagine how picky I am but we had a fab holiday!
The complex and pool was nice, plenty of sunbeds, staff were friendly and would do anything for you.
The apartments were large and cleaned nearly every day during the week, towels were changed twice a week and beds once a week. A pack of washing up liquid and dish cloth was provided in the kitchen, which was a nice touch and very handy. Supermarket was just down the road - very cheap.
Great location, close to plenty of bars, restaurants and the beach. The clubs were a bit further up the resort which was nice as it was quiet at night.
I would recommend these apartments to couples, families that don't want kids clubs, groups, older travellers and pretty much anyone. Great apartments that don't cost the earth!

La Penita apartments are approx 25 mins from the airport and are easy reached by taxi, which the staff at the apartments will arrange for you if you ask.
The apartments are large and very well maintained. With a large bathroom and balcony. Towels and linen etc are changed regularly. Security is very good and is patrolled 24hrs a day.
Cooker, microwave, and kitchen utensils, television, irons, are all supplied
the location is fantastic only 2 mins away from the main street. A supermarket is some 5 mins walk out of the main gates.
The resort is clean and wheel chair friendly with some great restaurants and bars
pool tends to be a bit cold but is appreciated when the weather is hot, pool bar serves some good snacks, and staff like all of the complex staff are very friendly and helpful.
This was the sixth time we have visited the la Penita and we have never had to complain.
We rate this complex very highly and we will return again this next Xmas.

My friend and I have stayed at La Penita three times now and we plan to go there in 2007. We really love La Penita for the following reasons.
1. Superb location, within easy walking of both old town and newer areas.
2. The apartments are really lovely. Clean, bright, spacious. The lady who cleaned our apartment Cari was always very thorough and pleasant, as are all the staff we came in contact with.
3. The food in the restaurant was always very tasty and well priced.
We have been many places throughout the world and we have once stayed elsewhere while in Lanzarote, but La Penita beats them all by an Irish mile.

This is our 5th visit to la Penita going again in September this year. Very spacious and clean rooms ideal for large families, fully equipped with microwave toaster coffeemaker, kettle free TV with sky, no air con but rooms are very cool and a large fan is provided free of charge.
Cleaned on a regular basis and staff throughout the complex are all lovely and helpful. Easy to book rooms just phone reception and you can pay on arrival. We even get a discount on each visit. Old town worth a visit to Mulligan’s great night!
The best English breakfast is the sports bar which is situated just before Linekers bar on the main strip. Route 66 and the tropical nightclubs are worth a visit. The tavern pub is very friendly and we have become friends with the owner and the staff so get yourselves there. Please do not go to the Toby Jug for Sunday lunch urgh! We love Lanzarote!

3rd time in Lanzarote in 3 years and it didn't fail to impress yet again. La Penita is the best place we have stayed in due to its location and outstanding facilities. I went (4mths pregnant) with my fella and found upon our arrival a clean and airy apartment that was unusually large compared to what we've had before. The balcony had the sun in the morning so you could sit out and come round slowly whilst admiring the sea view. By afternoon the apartment was cool and very comfortable.
Pool area was brilliant (although get up early for your loungers - leave it after 9am and you might not be so lucky!!!!) Loads of umbrellas for shading the kids and very hot mums-to-be like me!!!
Location was brilliant - especially as the Mucky Duck was 2 mins walk away. This was a jewel we found the first time we were here and my other half couldn't function until he'd had a Monster Mucky breakfast!! Every plate was full so go with a hearty appetite. We watched England lose to Portugal in the World Cup and the atmosphere was electric but still suitable for kids to attend.
Another 2 mins has you on the main drag with all its shops bars and restaurants and of course the Playa Grande beach.
I've been back 12 hours and I'm depressed - off to the travel agents to book La Penita for next time!!!!!!

I would recommend La Penia Apartments to anyone who is looking for a holiday in Lanzarote. The apartments are well situated near to many restaurants and shops but are still very quiet in an evening.
They are very clean and the staff are the most helpful and friendly that I have ever met. They also speak very good English which is always a help. The pool was very clean although it was freezing but very nice when it gets too hot! The poolside bar serves great food all day and is very reasonably priced! There is a security guard on site on a night which is nice to know!
Overall I had the best holiday by far at La Penita as they really do cater for everyone, cant wait to go back next year!!!

Spent a beautiful week in La Penita. My wife, 2 kids (9 & 5) and my mother in law. I have to say that the apartments were perfect. We were given 2 apartments side by side because of party size so kids had a ball running over and back.
The apartment are in a brilliant location. 100 yards from the main thoroughfare but quiet too at night. We had breakfast in Mucky Duck most days. They did a ine feed for €4 but also had a half feed for the kids. The staff there were brilliant with the kids. We ate in many of the restaurants around the strip and went into the old tow as well.
There are a few take away close by if you re not up to going out. We found a Chinese that gave a free bottle of wine with an order of €15. When we worked out what we wanted it came to €32 so I got half and the wife got half and we ended up with 2 bottles!!
The apartments themselves were very clean and the pool was perfect for the kids. The snack bar was great value and fast so when the kids were hungry they could get their chips etc easily. Staff very friendly. Highly recommend it. Next time we go to Lanzarote, we’ll be trying for these apartments.
One word of warning, if you rent a car, make sure you park it legally outside the apartments as I saw some cars being towed away.

Just returned from an excellent holiday in La Penita. travelled with my wife and 14mth old son. We have been in Lanzarote more than 15 times in the last 10 yrs and la Penita were definitely one of the best apartments we have used. This was mainly due to the size of the apartments (they were huge) and the facilities within each one.
The apartments were very spacious and all on one level, no steps-very good with an adventurous baby! Over and above the usual facilities, there was a kettle, toaster, coffee maker, microwave and free TV with 5 English channels including movies. There is also an onsite washing machine(3 euro) and tumble dryer(2.50) and you can borrow an ironing board and iron free of charge.
If travelling with young children you can also get non slip bath mats. The apartments were cleaned by very friendly staff who will ask you a time to clean each day which suits you-especially useful if baby finally has a nap! The pool was very cold but it was very clean and the small kiddy park was very useful as well. The apartments are well situated in the new town near many excellent restaurants and yet still only about 20min walk to old town (a taxi from old town harbour to la Penita is only 3 euro anyway).
So despite our weather being very poor and the worst tropical storm to hit Lanzarote in 45 years arriving on our 3rd night, we still had a really good holiday and this was mainly due to having the home from home at la Penita which we have discovered is very important when travelling with an infant. we look forward to returning in the very near future and certainly for us as a family it will be La Penita in PDC for the next few holidays!!

Just got back from 2 fantastic weeks in Lanzarote and the La Penita Apartments, I've got to say I was really impressed by the place, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the rooms nice and clean and we had a lovely view from our room.
If you want a quiet place to spend your holiday then come here, from about 8pm you could hear a pin drop it was that quiet! The bar shuts at about 7pm so if your expecting things going on at the place then this isn't the place for you, but obviously your right at the heart of Puerto Del Carmen and minutes away from all the bars clubs and restaurants, of which look out for the Mucky Duck, great value for money and you just get loads on your plate, not to mention you can watch your footy if you are into that.
If you want a good day out at Fire Mountain, then book it from Lastminute tours, its about 35 Euros and you get a meal in that price too, we had a great guide called Ian and he was just so funny and if you had a question about anything he would answer it and nothing was too much for him, we also went to Fuerteventura by the Princesa Ico, which for 30 Euros was ok, but we went on the day the weather wasn't so good, and the return voyage was a bit rough to say the least! A few big waves had everyone worried! But it was good day out.
So if you want a nice quiet place to basis your holiday in Lanzarote then the La Penita Apartments are the place to stay!

We’ve just come back from Lanzarote and wanted to let people know about La Penita apartments. We chose them mainly because they were well priced but also because we’d read the reviews and all seemed to say the same thing - excellent choice. We agree! The location of the apartments within the resort was far enough outside the lively area to be quiet but close enough to wander in. There are an abundance of restaurants only a couple of minutes walk away - there were some excellent deals on food and we didn’t have a poor meal during the stay.
Staff at the apartments (in particular the smiley man on reception!) were very friendly and helpful - you got the impression nothing would be too much trouble. There is a large pool which was very cold but always very clean and a nice break from the heat. The pool bar offered a good selection of food and drink and well priced and again the staff were very friendly.
The apartment itself was spacious and clean - there was a microwave, TV (with a great film channel, all free) and hairdryer, bedding and towels.
For supplies, there is a Spar or Netto pretty much on the doorstep but we thought Netto offered best selection.
There is also a bus stop just outside (at La Brassa restaurant) which for €1.80 for two people took us to the old port which we would say is a must-see. Check out the local boules players whilst enjoying a large brandy and coffee for €3 and watching the sunset over the mountains. Beautiful.
We did the Airtours tour round the island which was ok, bit disappointed to get chicken and chips as our 'authentic' canary islands lunch but got to ride a camel so not all bad!
One hidden gem of Puerto Del Carmen was a bar in the main drinking complex by Club Ibiza called Fire. We were taken there by one of the very many PR's on the strip after a dreadful cocktail at a bar on the front called something like Tropical (had large globes on roof - you can’t miss it, but really should!). Charged €6 each for two margaritas which were just lime slushies. Not good. Fire on the other hand was the opposite, with a friendly bar man, entertaining dj and great drinks for an excellent price.
Overall we’d recommend these apartments for couples and families in early season if you don’t want to be bothered by the crowds.

Hey everyone,
I arrived home form Lanzarote yesterday, what an amazing time! I wish I was still there!
We stayed in the Penita Apartments which were ideal. They were clean and quite spacious but really warm. The pool was a nice size but make sure you reserve you loungers early because they do go quickly. The hotel was in an ideal location right by the main strip which is really long and full of everything, bars, restaurants, clubs etc. The temps you see on websites are taken from the shade. It's actually in the 30s out there rite now. It is also windy but trust me with the heat out there you will appreciate it.
Its lovely for both families and couples and we're definitely going back because we got engaged out there. So see you soon Lanzarote and you'll have a fab holiday to anyone going out there soon.
