Travelodge Glasgow Paisley Road Reviews

Clean, adequate hotel accomodation.

May 2011, Jon Baker

My wife and I stayed for two nights at the hotel (£15 per night - booked well in advance). We were on the side of the hotel which has a motorway slip road running alongside it, so traffic noise was a bit of a nuisance, but not a great problem. The room was clean, and we had no problems with the facilities. The hotel was quiet while we were there, and there didn't appear to be very many guests staying - this was on a bank holiday weekend, so I found that a little odd.
We had no contact whatsoever with the hotel staff after we booked in, so I can't really comment on them. We were supplied with replacement towels/tea/coffee etc on the second day - left outside the room door. The room wasn't cleaned during our stay, but I have no idea if that is usual on a two night stay. In fact I prefer staff just to leave us alone, so I was happy we didn't have staff in the room whilst we stayed.
The area that the hotel is sited in seems a little desolate, as it is near a motorway and a trade park (Screwfix, etc). There are a number of restaurants on the other side of the dual carriageway, although we didn't use them. There is also a cinema, a bowling alley, and another hotel (ETAP?) in the same area.
I would have no problem at all with using this particular travelodge again. Maybe we just struck lucky, and had two nights at a cheap rate and the added bonus of not many other guests to disturb us.

Standard Fare, Decent Location
7 / 10

I've stayed in Travelodges many times and the experience rarely differs. It doesn't blow you away, but it's comfortable, convenient and relatively clean/friendly. This one was no different in that regard.
The one thing that does change is the location and it's a bit of a mixed bag in that respect. On the one hand you can walk into the city centre in 15-20 minutes, but the area itself is a bit of a no man's land between the city centre and the bustling south side. It's not a bad area, as such, it's just a bit of a nothing area - the sort of place populated by warehouses and car rental companies. You won't get mugged because few people seem to actually live there, but it's a bit like staying in a retail park.
Fortunately, there's one of those big "edge of town" entertainment complexes right across the street called "the Quay" which has a lot of restaurants (Nandos, Frankie and Bennys, Burger King and similar chains), a bowling alley, a cinema, a casino, Mecca bingo and various other things. So whilst the location might look a bit empty at first glance it's actually extremely convenient for a hotel guest.

  • Advice: Don't bother walking around to see the area, just go straight to the Quay across the street.

Never had a problem with the Travelodge’s and I regularly use them and this one was no different, I had a pleasant stay here when I was on a kickboxing tournament.
The rooms are clean fresh and airy and they are modern enough. I know people can complain that they are nothing special but it’s not like you spend forever in the room and they are a cheap price compared to others.
A good advantage is that the hotel charges only £3/night for car parking, so if you’re using the airport it usually works out cheaper to leave your car here.
I would stay again if I ever was in this area.

For the price you really can’t complain about the Travelodge, they are always so clean and tidy.
The Travelodge in Glasgow is really well located and literally only 20 minutes walk into the centre where you are spoilt for choice for pubs & restaurants.
The hotel itself is in really quiet surrounding, and apart from the baby elephants who seemed to have the room above us, would have been a really great choice.
