Shedwan Golden Beach

The hotel is old but built to a high standard and still very clean and tidy. The food was very good with a mix for those less adventurous! The staff friendly though our unfortunate experience of a sarong taken from our room and towels and goggles from the pool sun beds, meant we had to deal with the reception staff on several occasions.
Their customer services left a lot to be desired to the point they thought we were lying! Once I involved the manager it was far better but we didn't get a satisfactory conclusion to either incident and Airtours have never responded to the complaint since we got home.
For a good deal in the sun and friendly staff fine, but hang on to your belongings, the staff cannot be trusted!

Fantastic holiday !
Though the owning company are obviously spending money on developing new deluxe hotels and not on maintenance of existing ones - they are very lucky to have the staff at the Shedwan golden - we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
Having spoken to several of the other guests, single, married, etc . . . - they felt the same - its not opulent but it has a wonderful atmosphere. Not one of the staff was inappropriate - as mentioned by an earlier reviewer.
Would definitely return - feel that Hurghada has had poor press - downtown is definitely the better option - and this hotel though not as pristine in appearance as others up town (to be honest uptown could be in any country due to overabundance of shiny, shiny hotels), more than makes up for it through its staff.
. . .and if you have children - forget anywhere else - tears will be shed as they won’t want to go home.
In fact Hurghada has everything for everybody, just don’t expect it all on a plate, go with an open mind and leave the cynicism to the travel reps !
