Holiday Inn Hotel Attica Avenue

If you have an early morning flight leaving the Athens airport, you have only two choices. We took the Holiday Inn Attica on the advice of a travel agent -- Aegean Thesaurus. Between the two, we got ripped off to the tune of almost 90 euros. A new hotel(2004 Olymics) but we had three problems. On a 12 day Greece vacation -we arrived at Athens airport & waited for the courtsey van from hotel-after 30 minutes we called & got a curt"Shuttle doesnt run past 5PM on saturday", took bus to hotel-at check in asked about shuttle for next day & was told shuttle doesnt run on Sundays. We stayed at this hotel overnight as we were in transit to a Greek island and it is close to the airport and they advertised a free shuttle. Unfortunately we arrived at 2pm to find that the shuttles from the airport didn't commence until 3pm. So we took a cab for 20 euros. That was the only glitch. Stayed at the Holiday Inn Attica Avenue upon arriving at the Athens Airport. We wanted a hotel close to the airport to recover from jet lag before picking up our rental car to proceed with our trip to the Peloponnese area. The Holiday Inn has a free airport shuttle that makes the trip about every 20 minutes during the morning and afternoon/evening -- the shuttle stops in the middle of the day for a lunch break and during the middle of the night, so check with the hotel about the hours it runs. This is a very nice hotel near the airport. We paid about 99E for a double. It is not close to many other things, just a Goody's restaurant, a convenience store which was closed for our stay, a couple gas stations with sandwich shops in them. It is a hotel that you are used to getting travelling in North America, free robes and slippers, coffee maker in the room, mini bar all that kind of thing.
