Holiday Inn Hotel

I was put in this hotel after the one originally booked for me didn't had non-smooking rooms which for me is a MUST on every trip. The room was very small, (I felt like being my own Manolo's in the shoebox) the bed and other furniture recently renewed. The air-co worked perfectly, also noise reduction from other rooms. Interesting multi-media socked is available there to plug-in your own playstation, ipod or whatever (if you have the right plug, otherwise you need to buy one at the receiption). I stayed at the Crowne Plaza for two nights on business. It has been recently remodeled with modern decor which I loved. One thing I liked particularly about the rooms is the entertainment outlet in the room under the TV to hook up your IPOD (just make sure you bring your adaptor). You can listen to your music over the speakers in the bathroom. Overall great location, friendly staff, and nice breakfast. I will stay here again.

This is a very good hotel. The rooms have been recently refurbished to a good standard, flat screen TV, a very jazzy bathroom decor and the usual stuff - safe, mini-bar etc. It's 5 minutes from the metro, which is two stops from the center - and the Athens metro is great, I never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a train to arrive. We stayed here 4 years ago, soon after it opened, so were interested to see if things had changed. No, it was just as good. This is a slick, modern hotel and a credit to the franchise. Rooms are large and well-furnished. The breakfast buffet is not the best, but acceptable. A la carte food in the restaurant is exceptional. Staff are friendly and helpful. My husband and I had planned a long-awaited trip to Greece which we had to cancel due to a devastating illness. EVERY hotel we had booked was quick to reimburse and we cancelled well over a month in advance. We approached the Holiday Inn on numerous occasions and appealed to them to refund the cost of the room. They flat out refused and billed our credit card the full amount. Stayed at Crowne Plaza Athens City Centre 2 nights. Restaurant empty apart from me one evening. Food was actually quite good! Breakfast vastly overpriced....€27 for below average precooked buffet. Had to stare pleadingly for any coffee from two chattering waitresses...there was only one other guest at breakfast! When coffee arrived, I was given a pour from a pot (which spilled everywhere) and then the pot was removed! Appallingly mean-spirited behaviour. Mini-bar prices appallingly high...€13 for a whiskey which I didn't take... more
