Food, staff, accommodation excellent....
8 / 10
Apr 2008, Mrs P Scott

Food, staff, accommodation excellent. Enjoyed 2 weeks, only downfall was the rain. Useful info: loads of toilet paper, don't need to take your own, rooms have towels, shower gel, shampoo, hairdryer, tv, fridge, safe(but £28 for 2 weeks). Don't need to take beach towels as you can pay a small deposit and use hotels. Boat trips are cheaper if you turn right from hotel on beach walkway and go to see Jimmy. You can walk into iclemar in about 20 mins, Marmaris is about an hour, really easy to get the orange bus to/from (1.75 lira each way per person). Cheap handbags at the markets ( can get 3 plastic ones for £10), or go into Marmaris to the bazaar and barter for a more expensive, better made, leather one - £40ish. When at the hotel no need to queue for the bar, the waiters will get your drinks but give them a small tip to keep the service going. Free ice cream for kis 6-7pm only, 5lira any other time so can be expensive. Entertainments team were good fun, we had 2 17yr old girls with us who had a great time and when taken on the bus trip to a Marmaris night club were guarded admirably - pity about the essex girls who got drunk and embarrassed themselves meaning the bus had to come home early! Bad points: if you're a non-smoker you will have to endure smoke everywhere other than your hotel room, even the restaurant while trying to eat your meals. There is a no-smoking tv lounge but it's next to bar and lounge area so smells anyway. Try to get a room that overlooks sea, otherwise you could end up at the back of the hotel facing the roadway and air con units, it's also less sunny so you won't have opportunity to use the balcony. There are other rooms in small buildings around the hotel grounds, but we were told that these could be noisy depending on your neighbours and if you are near to one of the walkways. Last problem was basically people who had no respect for others, running down corridors shouting when coming in from the nightclub at 2am, kids screaming, shouting, running around generally whilst their parents were at the bar, drunks who made the most of the all inclusive deal - all out of the hands of the hotel remit, but just a shame because it spoilt it for other people. Overall though a really good time and we would go back.

I found this site after I had booked...
10 / 10
Apr 2008, Miss S L Key

I found this site after I had booked a girly holiday for me and my best friend and was seriously worried about what I had let myself in for- I need not have worried at all.
We arrived with a large group of others, check in was quick and efficient and from us arriving to the bags being put in our room was no more than 15 mins. From here on the whole experience just got better and better. All of the staff were very friendly (and not just to us), they could not do enough to help.
The entertainment team were fantastic and whilst their sense of humour is very different to ours the shows were put on with passion and dedication.
The food was varied and included a lot of Turkish dishes (if people want to eat English food then stay in England don't go abroad and complain) I am vegetarian and always struggle, I visited Sarigerme in Turkey in October and I struggled- I did not have this problem here.
All the staff are so proud of their job and from the minute you arrive they welcome you like a member of their family.
I never return to the same place again as there are so many places to see, I would not hesitate in returning to this hotel over and over again.

I so wish i had found this site...

Feb 2008, Ms W Cox

I so wish i had found this site before we went to the hotel. Where do i start, Firstly i will never return to turkey while i have breath in my body. The holiday started on the outward journey the flight was terrible, we had an overnite flight, myself my best friend and my 2 kids my son is 7 and my daughter was 15 while we were on holiday. BAD POINTS
1. Overnight flight with no pillows n blankets (4 pillows n 6 blanks for the whole plane)
2. Airport to Hotel no seat belts on the buses
3. Hotel had no room that was paid for and upon arrival at 7am had to sit in reception for hours till 3 bed room was found not 4 bed room that had been paid for.
4. Hotel was flooded, went for breakfast and waded through water which was casscading through hotel roof. Everything was wet through.
5. Food was aweful, my son ended up with gastricenteritus. Probably from the pigeons walking allover the breakfast cereal every morning. The food was always cold, and the way it is served is a joke. I hope you all like queues cos most of the time that is what its like.you stand in line and wait for the staff to place it on your plate!!
6. The pool was so cold that all the kids went to swim in the turkish bath, The sun beds are so dirty and the hotel is set in pine trees so you only get sun when is reaches the gap in the trees. So Every day the sun beds are so close to each other with everyone fighting for a piece of sunshine. Pick up ya sun bed and follow everyone else otherwise no suntan by the pool and a walk down hill to the marina.
7. Make sure you check when ordering stuff like towels and dry cleaning that its payment in euros or turkish money cos both the £ signs are the same and they will rip u off big time on ya departure from the hotel.
8. Keep your daughters very close by as they have a game where the staff will chat them up and be very friendly untill your not around then its time for them to Assult or wotever they wish to call it untill they get wot they want. My friend asked for a drink before going to our room, The waitor carried them for us, then he pounced on my mate and expected a little more than a tip!!!!
My 15 year old was fondled and groped that she ended up in floods of tears and wanted to return to the uk straight away. If you complain youll just get told that females are not worth anything and turkish men can do wot they want.
I have only skated over the surface of this so called First class All inclusive luxury holiday....... I would rather go camping at Donnington in the rain for Bike racing than ever stay here again. MY advise to you is go else where.

Stayed here for 2 weeks in September...

Jan 2008, Mr Terence Cook

1 reader found this review helpful

Stayed here for 2 weeks in September with our two children of 2 and 7. There is plenty for the kids to do. The hotel is fine and the rooms cleaned everyday. The only big problem is don't stay here if you don't like arrogant people as the hotel is full of arrogant Russians.
At meal times you would think that there was never gonna be any more food, as the Russian people are like pigs on the farm. There isn't much choice of food, same choice just about everyday. Some of the staff are all for the Russian people as they are Russian themselves and the Turkish staff are not very pleasant due to the Russian people been so arrogant.
If you want to take a boat trip go to Dalyan on Orca boat its fab disco on board and its fun. The kids loved mini disco and kids entertainment, but the singer every other night was terrible. Drinks were ok except there was a lot of wasps about. The beach outside the hotel was beautiful.
I wouldn't go back to this hotel as the Russians put me off all inclusive but would go back to Marmari, but some advice go self catering as there is some fab places to eat serving reasonably priced food and you'll find mostly English eating out as the Russians wont spend any money. Would recommend Quad safari its good fun. And by the way never seen a travel rep till two days before we were due to leave and just caught him by chance to find out how we were getting back to the airport their hopeless.

I have just read all the bad reviews...
10 / 10
Nov 2007, Miss K Wright

I have just read all the bad reviews and I cannot believe that they are talking about about the same hotel!! My boyfriend and I spent a week all- inclusive here and both said it was the best holiday we had ever had. We have both been been abroad many times and had the odd hiccup here and there and so were expecting the same this time- but it just didn't happen!
On arrival in the early evening our bags were taken to our room and we then strolled down to the poolside bar and sat having a drink, just looking at the beautiful scenery. The rest of the week was spent swimming, drinking, eating in one of the many restaurant, para-sailing, jet-skiing........
I do agree that you are hard pushed to get a sun bed after 8 as people putting their towels on them and then going back to their rooms!! But we soon found that you can get a sun bed on the jetty on the beach almost all morning so didn't bother with the poolside much.
A big hit with my bloke was "midnight soup". In the main restaurant they put out huge tureens of soup and bread at around midnight, which helps soak up all the alcohol!!
Another big plus for us was the internet cafe near the pool bar - as both of our jobs involve IT we could log on once a day (with a huge drink) and check there was no problems back at work.
All I can say is that we loved it so much we are going there for our honeymoon next year!!

Booked for school Half Term. 2...
7 / 10
Nov 2007, Mrs L Franklin

Booked for school Half Term. 2 adults and 1 child aged 12. Would only rate this as 3* and certainly would not recommend for this time of year.
Sadly, it was raining when we arrived in Turkey, so do bring an umbrella if you are going in October. We had 2 days of torrential rain and storms before the sun came, then the weather was glorious. Still a lot better than if we had stayed in the UK!
This complex is lovely and well situated, but we did not find the service from the restaurant or bar staff to be of a great standard. The common remark is that "it's the end of the season!". Our feeling was, if they are prepared to take our bookings and money (£1,000+), then the service should still be of a reasonable standard.
Food was good and varied, but the restaurant layout is the most peculiar I have ever come across. Unless you could get a seat at one of the terrace tables (not covered so inaccessible when raining), then you must traverse three different rooms, via the main stairway landing, with plates and drinks. An accident waiting to happen! The bar service was appalling, drinks offered very limited, served in any glass they could find, and although they had ice, they would not offer, you had to ask. Glasses slapped on the counter, no thanks or anything! Should you wish to pay for a quality drink, a huge fuss and lots of eye rolling ensued - it was too much bother to ask in the end, so we went to Icmeler in the evenings, where they were far more pleasant!
Rooms were good quality and cleaning crew were excellent. Went to Lykia World, Olu Deniz, last October Half Term, and Marmaris Palace does not match up, even though there is only half a star difference in the rating.

We didn’t enjoy the Marmaris Palace...
5 / 10
Nov 2007, Mrs K Morris

We didn’t enjoy the Marmaris Palace very much as the food was below standard, extremely limited choice and not very good quality.
Rooms basic more 3 star than 5, entertainment was bad and not suitable for young children.
Alcoholic drinks limited and bad quality, on the plus side the scenery and setting of the hotel was wonderful, shame the inside of the hotel isn’t as nice as it appears outside.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless you get it very cheap, not sure if we found it so bad because it was the beginning of the season, but the hotel was pretty full as every morning there was huge queues for omelettes, but it think it was group bookings that filled it up.

If after reading this review you...

Oct 2007, Mr M Muller

If after reading this review you decide to book accommodation at the Marmeris Palace Hotel, don't be surprised if you don't get what you paid for. I had booked and paid for a family room with a separate bedroom at the Marmeris Palace, as my wife and I had our adult son on holiday with us.
We arrived in the early hours of the morning and were told what a wonderful room we had. We were taken up to a single room with two beds in it. I pointed out that we were a bedroom short and was told to see the Receptionist later on that morning. I did as instructed and even though they agreed my family room booking was correct, we would have to stay put as there were no family rooms available for the duration of our stay. There were two other families in reception with the same problem.
We spoke to our Rep who was very helpful and spoke to the hotel management on our behalf. They confirmed to our Rep, there were no rooms available.
I could never recommend a hotel that's prepared to treat its paying guests with such disregard. As for 5-star, that's laughable as the star rating is based on a level of service provided. How can a hotel justify a 5-star rating when it overbooks its accommodation at the expense of its paying guests comfort.
I have no complaints against the general staff, facilities and food which were all good.
NB: I stayed all-inclusive at the Leetona Beach hotel in Fethiye in the summer, which by comparison was far superior to the Marmeris Palace.

This hotel says 5 star and says it...

Oct 2007, Mr G Burke

This hotel says 5 star and says it for a reason! The hotel is absolutely amazing, the staff are really pleasant all the time which makes the holiday that more brighter
On arrival, our luggage was taken to our rooms, a quick guide given to us about the restaurant, pools, night time bars and entertainment before arriving in our room which were outstanding
The all inclusive factor was great, with food available all hours, even in the middle of the morning, same goes for the beer and soft drinks which normally stop at midnight every other place I've been
The surroundings were great with lots of entertainment, tennis, water polo, mini golf, football, volleyball, beach volleyball, plus quite a few pools to choose from
All in all one of the best places I've visited and would recommend to anyone wanting to spend that little bit extra to find a special place.

Reviews can be a useful tool, but...
10 / 10
Oct 2007, Mr K Drake

Reviews can be a useful tool, but only if read properly. I too found this site after I had booked this hotel for my family and with two weeks to go until the departure date I was only talked out of cancelling the holiday by my other half. I am extremely grateful to her that she did.
Flight times, transfers and other guests behaviours are hardly the fault of the hotel. This can plague any establishment. I have tried all inclusive in Greece, Egypt and Barbados and this hotel now ranks highly amongst them.
The rooms are of a good size with all that you would expect to find, the only thing new here was the air conditioning, although this circulates air when switched on, the cooling is controlled by the reception and they have set times for this function, 22:00 - 04:00 when we were there. Apart from the first night when you are getting used to the heat, this caused no problem. Rooms kept very clean and usual floral reminders for a small token for the cleaning staff!
Food was magnificent, what an effort must have been put into producing so many different choices at meal times, I enjoy my food and this was good. Food available almost 24 hours, with midnight buffet and 03:00 buffet! Breakfast and late breakfast for those that have sampled too much Raki the night before. Staff very keen to help you and there is no rush to move you from your table either. There is a Russian presence and I, like many other reviewers, found them poor dinner guests, but even my other half was not shy at telling them to stand in the queue when necessary. Did not spoil my meal times but I guess it depends on how you deal with them, Russians do stay at other hotels also I am told!!!
The entertainment was good, very good. I can only bow down before the great Mr Geoffries and his team. All young boys and girls and all trying damn hard with the resources available to them. Night time entertainment was especially funny with kids club and mini disco being professionally run by a professional dancer who engaged well with the kids, my four year old included.
Pools were clean and sun beds were plentiful, put my towels down after 09:00 each day and got the best spots. This may have been helped by the lateness of the season, but the temperatures were high eighties, I have the sunburn to prove it! Slides were worthy of a water park with the underground one particularly novel. Turkish bath was good and so was the spa. You have got to try the steam shave with the open razor. Head and shoulder massage thrown in as you would expect in Turkey. Bliss.
Would I go there again? I had to promise this to my four year old as he was in tears at leaving the place. I intend to keep this promise next year. See you there.

Sep 2007, Mr N Witts

Just got back home after spending an enjoyable two weeks at Marmaris Palace, the pools were great and cool, very refreshing after sunbathing with temperatures reaching 36 degrees. Tamer and Kasim (waiters) were great, really made us feel at home and always got us a table in the shade.
Entertainment was aimed at the Russians/Germans, but we were happy sat in the bars drinking the local booze... The kids loved it, playing in the pools and on the water slides. The markets were really great, loved bartering with them got loads of bargains. Only saw the rep once, so could not book any excursions with her, we had to do it ourselves, which worked out a lot cheaper.
We would definitely think about going back next year.

Sep 2007, Mrs C Ford

The Hotel itself is very clean & the staff are very friendly & helpful.
The entertainment team were excellent & our 2 children were entertained all day & night.
The food was varied & throughout our 2 week stay we always found something different to eat.
We were talking of staying here again until... After a few days our daughter got an ear infection which we think was due to the cleanliness of the pool (as agreed by many other parents whose children got ear infections).
You could not see the bottom of the pool until halfway through the 2nd week we saw who we presume was a manager/owner having a go at the person who had just checked the pool. The very next day the pool had been thoroughly cleaned & the bottom was clearly visible.
The next point is the lifts which were always getting stuck. After experiencing a panic attack after being stuck in the lift I had to use the stairs to the 3rd floor every day.
Lastly on our day of departure we were not allocated anywhere to get showered & changed as apparently there was nowhere available (although the hotel was emptier than when we arrived) The Thomas Cook rep at the airport was horrified when we told her as she had confirmed 2 days previously with the hotel that there would be a room for us.
Unfortunately this was the point at which we decided not to make a return visit to this hotel.
