I think the hotle is great, the staff are friendly the food is lovely,i spent a week at benidorm, there was alot of entertainment and kids activities ,the pool was cold and quite relaxing.I can't wait for next year at benidorm all of the clubs were brilliant. There is a chinese just across the road from the hotel, the food from there is very nice. There is a water park called aqualandia you can see it from the hotel and you can see the hotel from the water park. They also sell hotdogs and burgers that are yummy!!!!,my best ride at the water park was kamerkasi and the black hole.

We stayed at the hotel Amaika for the last week in april returning home on the 1st May (which was unfortunately their bank holiday so all the shops were closed and we had all day to spend there before going home!!)
The hotel was absolutely lovely, a lot better than i expected, Myself my husband and our two kids (aged 3 & 4) and my husbands teenage sister stayed there for one week half board, which we quickly learned that we should have gone all inclusive.. i would reccommend to anyone going half board to re-consider and go al in...if you've already booked you can upgrade when your there for about 12 Euro's per day per person and its well worth it as the price of drinks in the hotel are quite expensive as are the restaurants / cafes in Calella itself.
The staff in the restaurant and bar are wonderful and were absolutely fantastic with our kids.. i couldn't have asked for more and ourselves!! The reception staff however were not so good, they were ok but a couple of then were quite abrupt. One of our kids smashed the glass in a picture above the beds in the room, and being honest i informed the reception who then said rudely we would have to pay which was fair enough...but the glass was never removed (even though it was half hanging out) and we were never charged...nothing was mentioned again!!
The food was delicious there was a great selection some nights better than others but we never left the dining room hungry!, on reading other reveiws someone had commented that there was not a great selection of desserts and they tended to do the same day in day out... they did do some the same each day but the choice was big and there were different things each day no complaints with the food at all and the kitchen area is open so you can see them cooking... it was always fresh and hot. The breakfast however was not great it was ok but not a lot of choice, and the drinks were out of a vending machine which was ok but could have been better.
The entertainment was quite good, there was always a good atmosphere and we didn't bother going anywhere else, we tried another bar one night but preferred the hotel so stayed there..
Overall we had a wonderful holiday, and we hope to re-visit next year, Calella is a lovely place with loads of shops and bars and cafes and i would recommend it to anyone, not so cheap but do-able and well worth a visit.
Happy holidays!!

4 adults (25-37) april 21/25. we have just spent 4 nights at this hotel, which we thought was great, we were impressed when we arrived with how clean it was, the rooms were more than adequate in size, the cleaners were in every day with clean towels etc. meals catered for everyone with a good variety to choose from. the weather was a big plus lovely and hot. we also went into barcelona on the thursday go by the train only 6.40 euro return, if you get off at catlunya the stop before barcelona, this is where all the shops are and worth seeing is the real life like models. but beware this is where the pick pockets are so watch your valuables... staff within the hotel were very friendly, entertainment was ok, might be better in high season. the only down side was the size of the pool and the amount of sunbeds they had so could imagine this would be a nightmare in high season, apart from that we would highly recommend, and deffinately booking for next year.

My friend and i stayed at the amaika hotel for a week from 8th -15th april and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Everything about this hotel is excellent and superb value for money based on an all inclusive basis.
The food and drinks were excellent and catered for everyone providing nutritious, appetising and various assortments of food.
I would definately reccommend this hotel and i am looking forward to going there again in the not so distant future.I would rate this hotel 100% in al areas.

Lovely hotel real family feel about it staff great speak very good English very clean . Sheets changed every other day. Restaurant very nice and well run.Head waiter very friendly and helpful.Lunches were often better than dinners. never been A.I. before as we're not drinkers but having tea and coffee and soft drinks all day was great. Too late for lunch first day we went for snack expecting sandwiches and found burgers, sausages eggs and chips. theyre not good with fried eggs but the chips were good. Husband not too well so didn't do any trips but others took free bus to Santa Susanna. Weather was very mixed few days very windy and dull but we were there 10 days so we got nice days too. I thought other reviews were exaggerating about how small the pool and seating areas are, but its true. Its not suitable for children as there's not much going on. Andres and Daniel worked hard to get people to join in games and I went to play french bowls on the beach but the other people were Spanish so Daniel had to translate for me. You get ITV in room channel 14 so didn't miss Corrie.
Fridge in room was good for keeping water. Spar shop 95 cents for 5 litres turn right from hotel and its up a side street. Take paracetamol with you as they are 3.40 for 20 but I was able to buy a Ventolin inhaler no bother for 3.75. Took a mark off because entertainment was poor . but disco ended at 12 and no more noise BLISS. All in all an excellent hotel

Just returned from holiday at Amaika and very impressed at the standards , as it was a reasonably priced holiday we werent expecting too much The hotel is spot on with cleanliness rooms tidied beds made daily and fresh laundry nearly every day
The food was plentiful the breakfasts i did find a bit spicy but always scrambled eggs and toast etc. The desserts could be varied a little bit though I was fed up with baked apple and creme caramel each day probably trying to tell me not too eat too much sweet stuff!!!The entertainment was not so good with discos most nights at over 60 this is not our idea of entertainment there was a magician and flamenco dancers on a couple of nights but apart from that we resorted to watching telly in our room after 10pm.
I found the staff at bar and restaurant very pleasant and helpful though if you want help at reception dont ask the young blonde one she doesnt understand english very well and will confuse you even further than you may be. I tried to book a day out and she was trying to send me home and on another ocassion I asked for help in reception with the phone and found she had me connected to my room and wondered why I wasnt answering!!
Calella is a shoppers paradise with mile long streets full of every type of shop you could need. Be aware of the bazaar type ones though especially the one outside hotel the chaps zoom out as soon as you appear to look at their goods and badger you for a sale I only looked at a little skirt and he asked what age i was looking for and he had it in a bag demanding the money they really are very pushy and dont give in easy..
You must if you go to Calella try the little train that runs all round the town it is only 2euro's and he takes you all round the town. So all in all a very good Hotel and town

Just returned from one week's AI holiday with husband and 26 year old daughter. This is our first visit to the area. First thing that we noticed on entering the hotel was the overpowering smell of cleaning fluid. While you can't complain about having a clean hotel (and it is clean), the smell was very strong throughout and in our room. Reception staff were ok but not the most helpful I have encountered. The room was fine, beds comfy (probably need two pillows), towels are on the thin side (loo paper likewise!). View from our balcony overlooked flats opposite, but from what I could see none of the balconies will have much of a view. There was also a sizeable gap at the bottom of our balcony wall which would be a concern with small children. The worst thing about the room was the thin walls; we could hear our neighbours talking and using the bathroom. If they are particularly rowdy you won't get much sleep. The hotel appeared quite busy despite being low season and mealtimes could be a bit hectic at times. The food was satisfactory; some meals were better than others, but there was plenty of it and I think there was something to suit everyone. It's much as you would expect catering for large numbers and a cross section of nationalities. The staff worked hard to ensure that the tables were cleared and re-set quickly. Between lunch and dinner and after dinner the restaurant is open with a snack bar serving chips, burgers, sausages and salad. As mentioned in other reviews, the bar staff could be a bit moody, but I suppose dishing out the same 'free' drinks all day can't be much fun. The entertainment is generally a disco (with a Spanish theme), but there also was a magician and karaoke. There appeared to be large numbers of Spanish/Catalan holidaymakers at the hotel which I thought was a good sign and they seem to like dancing and playing cards. There weren't many children there on our visit so cannot comment on the entertainment for them. The pool and area around it is fairly small so would get very crowded at peak times, however the beach is only a couple of minutes walk so maybe the pool isn't a necessity. Overall the atmosphere in the hotel was pleasant and relaxed. Just outside of the hotel there are plenty of bars (most are closed at this time of the year), a few supermarkets and of course a MacDonalds. The beach looked lovely and the walk along the coast to Malgret is nice. We hired bikes at a reasonable cost and tried to cycle to Blanes, we didn't get that far but had a nice trip and stopped at the H-Top Royal Sun for a drink. (AI customers can use other H-Top hotels in the area). We later went on the train to Blanes, which is worth a visit, but I would advise getting the bus from the train station to the port area rather than walking, as we did. The train service is good, cheap and punctual. It's well worth catching the train to Barcelona.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Amaika. I don't think I would go in high season but would definitely consider returning at a quieter time of the year.

Had a lovely time here at half term; me, my partner and the two kids (5 and 3). Room was big, had a huge balcony. Food was great and drinks served at lunch and dinner was a real treat. Waiting staff were lovely and very friendly.
Had a really relaxing time. Went to the beach a couple of times which is really nice. The sand is almost shingle but not quite so brushes off very easily; excellent news for a three year old who complains about sand getting everywhere! Calella has lots of kids play areas within walking distance of the hotel which are really nice. Shopping in Calella was good too; partner and kids loved all the shoes!
Barcelona Zoo is great; go on the train and get off at the Arc de Triomphe station and walk down past the Arc through the park at the end. It is huge though so allow all day for it. The dolphin show was good there too.
Girona is very beautiful for a day out and Tossa is lovely for a walk up to the light house.
The only thing we didn't like was the two drinks only rule at the bar. There was only one bar lady who got a bit stroppy when we asked if we could have two extra soft drinks for the kids. The other bar staff were lovely.
All in all a very lovely holiday!

Just returned from a week at the resort and although it was cold - hotel was lovely, staff heplful and food was fine. Would definetly go again and the price for the week was reasonable. Barcelona is a wonderful city. Travel cheap and reliable on trains, buses, and metro. Would be useful for me to have known some phrases and words in Spanish.
Some of the points of interest were awesome and the Temple de la Sagrada Familia was beautiful beyond words.
Beauty of the resort was the good balance between a beach and a sight seeing holiday.
Shopping was a lovely experience - came across the usual holiday tac but found some classy bargains - can't wait to to go again - but it will have to be when it's warmer.

we have just returned from a weeks stay. on first impression the hotel was very clean, so were the rooms, these were cleaned daily.
:- pool area was very small for the size of the hotel unable
to get round the pool area all holiday for son to go in
kids pool. only 30 or so sunbeds
nothing for children at this hotel all that the calella palace.
food more or less the same every lunch & dinner times.
both me and my son were ill due to food not being cooked properly
(chicken)
would make sure that you are all inclusive as that costs alot for
your drinks espeically when you take into account that you even have
to pay 3euros for bottled water & 2.50euros for a small bottle of
coke.
resort very quiet not much to do
train to barcelona only 6.25euros return per person
better for couples definitly not for kids as we found out.
