Well situated
from juhso
Holiday Inn in Victor Hugo Boulevard Nice is well situated equidistant from train station and Beach. We booked on the internet and made a great saving. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Good hotel for price.
from GoodyMember
We had originally booked a different hotel in Nice, but were concerned with a lot of the reviews on TripAdvisor, so our travel agent recommended the Holiday Inn. It was your typical Holiday Inn - nice, clean and average priced. Unless you are willing to spend a lot of money for a room elsewhere, I would recommend this hotel. The bar and breakfast area were nice and the room was a typical Holiday Inn, so we were pleased, particularly since there are not a lot of other good (reasonably priced) hotels in Nice.
Well located, quiet, good breakfast
from sfchris
I paid 162 Euros for a "Deluxe Room" including breakfast. For that rate, it was a pretty good deal. The location is great -- 5 minute walk from the beach (perhaps 6 blocks) and all the old town shops and restaurants. 10 minutes to the train station and for business travellers it is a very pleasant 15 minute walk through scenic tree-lined boulevards to the Acropolis Convention Center. After spending 8 days in Nice, I came to the conclusion that I appreciated the relative quiet of this location rather than the hustle and bustle of the promenade with all it's automobile traffic, expecially since the location is so close anyway. The Deluxe room was solidly 3 stars... and the bathroom was the nicest feature -- done in all marble... the water pressure was fantastic compared to other continental hotels (I guess water is cheap in these parts). I did experience what other posters mentioned about the hot water fading in temperature during peak usage times, but it never went cold. For business travellers, they use Orange Internet which is pretty expensive. 20 Euro per day or 60 euro for a week I believe. The internet connectivity was wireless only and for most of the time, probably due to technical glitches, it was not full DSL/Cable speed (when I tested the performance it was usually only about 10 times faster than dialup). I am not sure if regular rooms have this Wifi internet, you should check in advance. As others have noted, one of the key aspects of the deluxe room, other than the fact that it is bigger, is that it includes a kettle so you can make your own tea. My room had a nice large safe and a minibar with room for my own drinks. Again I am not sure what the regular rooms include... The breakfast was quite good... fresh orange slices and pineapple, several types of freshly baked delicious breads, cheeses, meats, cereals, scrambled eggs, tasty sausages, bacon, broiled tomato, mushrooms... fresh orange and grapefruit juice, bottled water, cereals, yoghurt... it is all there for your choosing. The breakfast staff was very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast room itself was a nice place to eat. Getting breakfast there is so much easier than trying to find a cafe every morning too... The hotel staff and housekeeping were excellent. Other posters have mentioned their favorite beaches so I would like to say that my favorite was Galion which had both excellent food and excellent service as well as somewhat more reasonable prices than other beaches. A case could be made that the prices this hotel normally charges are a bit high for what you get, and the hotel is not as glamorous or elegant as a few others you might choose, but I was quite pleased with it, expecially for my rate of 162 Euros including breakfast.
Expensive But Nice
from HNISC
The price of the hotel was quite high considering that I visited off-season in Januray. However, the hotel itself I have no complaints with. Staff were extremely friendly and helped you with all requests inc. a free toothbrush! Rooms were very nice as well as the bathroom with its marble finish. TV was a let down however, as there was only Eurosport and Sky News for English speakers.
not fantastic - quiet
from spikeysingapore
Location not bad but a bit quiet; more suitable for the business people. will prefer the beach area though. short distance to the main tourist areas. Service so so. Had a leaking aircon room for the first night - have to move to a different room. Request took a bit longer than expected. Breakfast was good though with nice and helpful service staff. Overall, I would not recommend the hotel.
Great Hotel
from smakhoul
I've been to this lovely hotel early in November 2005. it's great. the room was spacious( but it was a superior room any way). the staff were very friendly and helpful. the loction is one of the best as it is few minutes from the shops in one way( nice etoile) and few minutes from all the restaurants and the beach. it was winter, so we didn't go to swim, so I can't comment on the near by beach(eventhought there were people swimming in November as it was 21 degree). try to book directly from the holiday inn website as you get the lowest price there. I went to Multary backery and as everybody said, it's great so make sure you go there and try most of their selection of bread, pizzas and gateaux. Also, I thought to mention a great restaurant we went to, not very near but by far it's the best restaurant I tried in nice and in france. it's italian, and no place outside Italy has a better cuisine than this one. it is called La voglia and its address is Restaurant La Voglia 2, rue Saint Françoise de Paule 06300 Nice - France tél. +33 (0)4 93 80 99 16 www.lavoglia.com it's not very cheap but it's not very expensive as well. we paid 50 euros for 2 people (but we didn't have any wine on the day) So if you're going to Nice , stay at holiday inn victor hugo, and make sure you try Multary and la voglia.
agree with reviews
from E&JJJ
stayed here three nights recently and agree with the other reviews. have stayed at the Beau Rivage and the Meridian twice over the past three years but although the views from the Meridian were fantastic, the price there is exorbitent. We opted for a superior room with the tea making facilities and the larger sized room at the Holiday Inn. The breakfast wasn't the best we've known but was adequate for the price paid with plenty of fresh fruit and bacon, eggs etc.The reception staff were very friendly and efficient and the security excellent. The hotel is very clean, unlike the streets of Nice! Beware where you tread. Dog owners there have no respect for pedestrians and the streets are litter strewn and the railway sidings covered in graffiti, tramps and beggars everywhere. It's such a pity that this otherwise beautiful city is so spoiled by a few irresponsible citizens.
Good hotel and excellent location
from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed for 3 nights. Impressed by staff who allocated us a room on arrival even though it was only 11.20am. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel had recently been refurbished and everything was clean and in good condition. Room not large but certainly more than adequate for couples. The big advantage of this hotel was its central position, near to Nice's many restaurants as well as shops. Only a short walk to the promenade and the old town. One small annoyance was the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room but we realise that this is true for many continental hotels. We would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again and would recommend it to friends.
Great Location
from Freckly68
We stayed at the Holiday Inn for 3 nights during October and considered it to be very good value for money. We paid around 120 Euros a night (but watch out for extra person and city tax charges which are a pain if you're not expecting them!) for a relatively spacious modern room with king-size bed, marble bathroom (including a bidet), in-room safe, kettle, iron, etc. The hotel is in a great location - 10 minutes from the train station, 10 minutes from the 'old town' and 5 minutes from the sea front but in a really nice quiet residential area. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel, there are plenty of cafes a block or two away and thousands of restaurants for dinner (we recommend Le Safari in the market place and, for a romantic dinner, Le Tire Bouchon just off Palais de Justice - a non-smoking restaurant in France! Both offer great 3 course menus at just 28 Euros per person). Nice can get a little hectic, with lots of people, traffic and busy restaurants but overall we really enjoyed our stay, great food, great drink, nice weather and a very comfortable, friendly hotel.
Very Good Decision!
from Sun75
I stayed in Holiday Inn in Nice, France for nine days in August of 2005. I picked the hotel after my internet search including tripadvisor pages. Hotel: I paid 155 Euro per day (breakfast included). I booked directly through the Hotel. Pretty big room. With big TV. I guess room sizes vary. Bathroom was big enough. Enough air condition. And good housekeeping. I really admired the security at the hotel. There is a security guy at the main gate during the night. And you need to use your room card each time to call the elevator. Personnel: Very friendly and international personnel profile. At the reception, Alexandra, Marianne, and Antoinette are doing a remarkable job. They are all foreigners. Even once, I saw Alexandra was calling up on behalf of the Hotel guest to search a hotel in Paris! Carlo and Daniele (Italians) at the Reception, are working mostly for the evening and night shift. Thus, I had less contact with them. But they both were also kind and helpful. I should also mention the staff in the breakfast room. Rafael (French) speaks English, and always welcomes you with a kind smile. All others were also very kind in the breakfast room, including porters at the lobby. Unfortunately, I can not mention the other names, they had no name tags. Hotel's Spot: 5 minutes to the beach, 15 minutes to the main train station. It is on the rue Victor Hugo. Very nice ambience, beautiful park nearby just a few minutes walk, full of trees. Walking on this street was a real joy to me. Many hotels with three and four stars on the same neighborhood. So do not insist to be just near the beaches. In my opinion, try to find out your hotel in this decent neighborhood (Rue Victor Hugo). Breakfast: It was rich enough. I did not want to spend my time looking for a different cafe everyday. So I added breakfast to my account during my booking. And try patisserie "Multari", on your way to the beach, just one word for "Multari"; divine! Some private beaches: I tried a few; Castel: 15 Euro (towel not included), Blue: 17 Euro (towel not included), Ruhl: 23 Euro - In my case I paid 17 Euro due to Hotel agreement with the beach. For towels you need to pay extra 2 Euros. I can not recall Beau Rivage's enterance price. But it must be somewhere around Ruhl's price. In my view, the best was the Ruhl. Lunch at the private beach: Three course at the restaurants in all these private beaches can hit the amount of 35 Euro per person easily. But in the meantime, with one salad, and a drink, you may stay around 20 Euro. Beer is very expensive, in some cases it reaches to 7 Euro! Dinner - Restaurant: We tried Restaurant du Gesu in Old Nice two times. Very good ambience. Pizzas were very tasty. And all tables were French, except two tables, one including us. It was the best shot. In terms of dinner, partly I regret our first nights. We spent some time in very touristy restaurants on the main street, Promenade des Anglais. Not bad quality, but very touristy. For the dinner you may spend one evening at Salaya zone. And Old Nice is very charming at night for walking and dinner choices. Eventually, Holiday Inn in Nice is a very comfortable and friendly hotel. And I can suggest it to all of my friends gladly and without any hesitation.

Loved this hotel very central few minutes walk to beach and old town and also only minutes away from all the shops.
Choice of pillows when you arrive, large room, marble bathroom and pleasant bar what more can you want!
