Situated just a 10 minutes (15 Euro) taxi ride from the Airport, this hotel complex is situated in the old town area of the resort. There are very few negatives about this place, but if we were to be pedantic, we would mention that the rooms can be hot at night even with... more

We went to Aquarius in September 2009. The weather in September was about 28'C on average, and almost no cloud. The Aparthotel is about 10 mins from the aiport, so a local taxi was quite cheap. The taxi dropped us at the back door, which wasn't obviously our accommodation.... more

Not too bad!
After reading some of the reviews I wasn't really looking forward to going! When we arrived we were shown our room. It was terrace rather than balcony and we wanted to be moved so we had a private balcony- it was going to take a day or two so we decided to stay on floor one and it was grand! A word of warning- if you want a bacony ask for floor 2, 4 or 6. But beware- floors 3-6 have loadsa stairs and there is no lifts, thank god we didn't have to get our luggage up there but many people did and they were wrecked- there is no-one to help with the luggage. Ask for floors 1 or 2 and you should be fine. Anyway, theres that gripe over! I have to say I personally found the staff very friendly and pleasant. People forget that the staff are overworked and underpaid and a smile and a few plesantaries in spanish to them make their day. The food was much better than i expected and was plentiful. The menu was different every mealtime- so nothing was reused. We were all inclusive- which worked out great as the drink is quite dear at the hotel- it's well worth paying that we bit extra. The rooms are cleaned daily and all sheets and towels changed- the cleaners are so jolly and happy. Great workers! Entertainment--- Well the animation guy is a bit full on- he loves dressing up in womens clothes! He's very young and quite funny. He has a hard job trying to get people to take part in things and speaks many languages. Word of warning- his bingo game on sat and sun night takes hours- AVOID! As long as you take him with a pince of salt, he's ok. However, my sister was sleeping at the pool one afternoon and he shook her bed and screamed in her ear with a megaphone- needless to say she took a total psycho on him and he had to avoid her for the rest of the stay! There were great acts on during our stay- elvis (we though he was spanish- he was from co. antrim like us!), karoke and a soul caberet act. Really brilliant all three! The reception staff are pretty good- if anything breaks in your room it is fixed immediatley. I slowly explained to the reception guy about the fan in our room being broke with great animation about it- he looked at me as if i was mad- he was american!! The location of the hotel is brill- right on the old harbour with stunning views from the balconys. A taxi to the other side of puerto del carmon is only 2 euros- you can't be bad to that! All and all pretty good hotel- lower your expectations a little bit and you will not be disappointed. It is clean, the food is nice, the drink is strong, the staff are friendly if you are freindly to them, and you can' beat the location. Would I return again? Perhaps if it was as cheap as this time. We were delayed 12 hours at the airport and were taken to a 5 star hersepia hotel- might have to save up a few years to go there- it was stunning! Hope this helps!
Loved Lanzarote!
4 of us stayed at the aparthotel aquarius 9th to the 16th july 2007 - overall we had a fantastic experience! the hotel does accomodate the all inclusive board but our visit was self catering so cannot comment on the food there. however there were a wide range of drinks avaliable both local and international however they were quite expensive. there is a small supermarket down the hill which was the perfect solution to this as it was really cheap (50p for a budweiser) and the hotel rooms are equipped with their own bottle opener. the amenities in the room are all fully functional and come in handy when you want to heat up last nights mcdonalds. the location is perfect for families as it is in the old town and away from the noise of the bars and clubs in the new town. however it is only a short taxi ride away (that is, if you don't want to walk) and costs around €2.50 (about £1.75). the nightlife is really good with clubs open until 6AM but kebab shops are only open until 3 so get in there fast. the one reccomendation i strongly suggest is to eat out at the dolce vita restaurant along the strip in the new town as the food is to die for - especailly the BBQribs and chicken in mushroom sauce. If you want a more exciting dining experience try the T-bone steak at larni's its huuuge! - the beach is only a short walk away from the hotel and is a long stretch - it is quite windy so lots of suntan cream is required unless you don't mind being burnt and sore for the rest of the holiday. the one downside to the hotel is the amount of stairs - there are no lifts and we were on the fifth floor so if you have any sort of mobility disorder then i would advice against this hotel. the showers are also not very clean - however the maids are nice although they cannot speak much english, and come in every day to change towels and clear up etc. the pool is amazing - out of every holiday ive ever been on ive never seen a pool as big and nice as this one, but it has no shallow end so not suitable for non swimmers - there is a childrens pool but it is quite small. overall, we enjoyed our stay here immensly and would definately go back!
Loved the view
Was in Lanzarote for a week and had a great time. The hotel.... actually the apartments, are nice enough, as the structure of the building allows (as long as I could see) every room to have the great view of the harbour, some mountains and the infinite sea... The staff of the hotel is good enough, although I reallized it is working with foreign students, but that was not a problem, as they seemed to be more helpful than some other bad-mooded staff. Maitr of the restaurant was a great person, as well as a Greek guy in the bar (did a great coctail....he didn't tell me how though) Food was quite tasty, but I had some stomach-pain after eating seafood. In general, there are stuff to do inside the apartments (pool, shows, builiard, etc.), but what i liked the most.. beaches, sun and nightlife..... People of the island are little bit strange, but.... always friendly. Renting a car is a great idea...as long as you do it a sunny day.. Would I go back? Yes, why not.
Dihorrea!!!!!!!
i am currently staying at the Aquarius apartments and am shocked by the total lack of cleanliness in the restaurant. Me and my partner having suffered severe food poisoning and dihorrea and now constipation are shocked by the attitude of the staff to food e.g. one child licked an ice cream said he didn't like it and the waiter put it back in the freezer!! i was disgusted. training should be given to these employees. i was expecting much more from a 3* half board holiday as i have been on multiple holidays which included half board stay.
Great value holiday
Booked via 'on the beach' website and stayed for a week over easter. My wife and I took our three lads 15/18/21 and stayed all inclusive. This proved to be the best way because the lads attempted to eat their equivalent body weight each day!. Despite one post moaning about the food, we found it varied and good. Our 18 year old is one of the fussiest eaters you would hope to meet, but he didn't have a problem with the choices offered. Local spirits and on tap San Miguel were on the all inclusive deal. The local spirits were acceptable and not as rough as some I have tried in the past. Hoteturs cocktails were also part of the deal and the lads took advantage of the various concoctions. We found the staff to be friendly and very efficient. They were always polite and ready with a smile. They also remembered drink preferences and offered them accordingly when we turned up to dine. The rooms were basic but comfortable and clean. We were lucky to be on the top tier so had a marvellous view out over the old harbour to the sea. The upper levels could pose a problem for those with mobility issues due to the number of steps. Previous posts about the depth of the pool are correct. I didn't use it but my kids assured me it was cold! I would most certainly stay there again and would recommend it to my friends.
Aquarius Apartments
Just come back from a 3rd stay in the Aquarius and have to admit a lick of paint wouldn't go amiss. The plus points of the place is definately the location being on the front it gets the sun most of the day (a must in the winter months when it goes dark earlier) and is also right by the harbour so unless you want to go to the strip which is about a 20 min walk away, you're right in the centre of everything. My advice to anyone going here would be not to expect a lot, if its 5* luxury you're after then look elsewhere, but if its reasonable accomodation in a great location then you should be fine.
Needs some TLC
Whilst we were very happy when we stepped out of the taxi, and eventually into our apartment, the state of the room and surrounding complex showed-through very quickly. The actual position of the apartment overlooked the pool area and out onto the port itself and we were very fortunate in comparison to some others. But as the days went-by we found that the complex had seen better days. Certainly, the apartment hadn't seen a lick of paint for many years, the bath and surround was in a very poor state - not something you want to confront when you are just looking for a nice soak ! The maid service was very basic and she didn't really clean so much as swept and made beds. Surprisingly, for a complex that's predominently self catering, the food was very good, but the staff weren't the happiest in the land and when it came to leaving, we were told we couldn't pay to keep the room ( as they were fully booked - which is fair ), but the alternative was the poolside toilet / shower area which left a LOT to be desired. It's OK if you like showering in freezing cold water ( and in the dark ) - I suppose. Truth is, we had to take our suitcases out of reception to our sunbeds adjacent to the shower rooms, and pass clothes back-and-forth. They need to make more of an allowance for something that is a fundamental part of the holiday service and provide some basic / private / clean facilities for people to prepare for their journey home. It's not a place I would return-to !!!!!
shame about the staff
Stayed for a week with my wife, we have been to the island twice before. The apartments are basic but clean, a good maid service comes every day. we used it just for sleeping and washing ourselves. the breakfast was very good, plenty of choice. location is brilliant, not suitable if you have walking difficulties, lots of steps. the only let down was the staff, a five/ten minute wait at the pool bar was the usual, breakfast staff were very military, one morning a waiter took my plate off the table when I had just literally put my last piece of food in my mouth!! overall we would reccommend this place, the pool is cold and a bit too deep, no provision for babies (1-3yrs). we hope to go back next year with our kids. Ask for a top floor apartment, great views.
clean and excellent location in hte old town
very basic but clean... our room was no 111 was the closest to the pool and on fo the bes locations in the hotel..the reception staff were very helpfull ..the one poor point was unless you can swim your not going in the pool it was too deep to walk in, like well over my head, and the baby pool was only knee high.....it was in a great quite location in the old town with plenty of bars mostly irish.....the supermarket is only a few hundred mts away. but another one is a little further but lots cheaper and lots more choice ......the pool was freezing in october, only seen a few kids in it all week,, weather was ideal..cold at night but from 10.30am to 6.00pm it was warm..i would recomend this hotel for self catering and get out to eat....loads of quality places to eat..... Texas park is a must 8 euros in a taxi and alsom catch a local bus to the sunday market ...well worth a visit......
lovely part near the old town the port and sea view
my husband and myself went in january 2007 for 5 weeks. hotel is in a lovely place the apts are lovely but very dated. we went self- catering but found utensils very very limited.but the bathroom was another thing the bath was very rusty in places, lots of steps as well we had 71 to climb we were in apartment 411 the towels were changed every day and bed 2 or 3 times a week . reception desk was very helpful a lovely pool on the whole our holiday wasent too bad plenty of bars close by nearly all irish about a 15minute walk to the new part but more going on in the old part where we were
