the worst hotel we ever stayed in
from A TripAdvisor Member
First, we want to stay that the staff was helpful and nice. BUT, the place was terrible. All the floors including the hallway creaked loudly. It looked VERY run down. The communal shower and toilet were also pretty dirty. To top it off, we had a small mouse running around in our room the whole night. If possible, don't stay here. It's not worth it.
Bad Location & Accomodation
from A TripAdvisor Member
My friend and I stayed at the Atlantic Paddington during June 2004. The front desk people were not mean, but they weren't helpful either. Our room (double w/ bunkbeds) was extremely small and the bathroom was big enough to just walk in and out of. SMALL! The mattresses were uncomfortable and had yellow stains on the sheets. Although the location of the hotel seemed safe, they have a disclaimer on the door stating they are not responsible for lost/stolen items and to either lock up or take all your belonging w/ you when you leave. This left...

Brown Showers
from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the Atlantic Paddington over my spring break in March 2004. I booked the largest room they had available, but on arrival found out that they had put me in a 4-person all female room which was a pleasant surprise because I was in London alone as a female. The mattress was impossible to sleep on, and the shower floor was filled with brown goo which came up to your ankles if you didn't turn the water off soon enough. I checked out 2 days early, and they gave me 3 days worth of credit back even though I had already paid for 5 nights....

Good for Young People.
from A TripAdvisor Member
It's perfect for young people, it's cheap compared with other hotels, the rooms are every day cleaned up, the people are friendly. But I could imagine that older people with a family don't like it. The rooms are very old. The way out is very difficult to find, it looks like a maze. The showers are shared with other people, the toilets also. But I never had such an enjoyable vacation and this hotel was a part of that. If I go to London next time, I go to this hotel again. And it's in a nice and quiet neighbourhood, also...

One of the worst EVER
from A TripAdvisor Member
These other reviewers are right on target, except the strange high schoolers who thought the hotel was OK. This place was flat out scary! The carpet was sick, I didnt even consider walking anywhere without at least my socks on but usually shoes too. The shower had weird stains in it. Our room was painted an odd green color and had a hole in the drywall next to my bed. My buddy from high school and I were placed in a room under the stairs and so we heard EVERY footstep coming down or going up. I realize this is a fairly cheap hotel but this...

the tale of woe of 4 students at atlantic paddington
from A TripAdvisor Member
Before I start, I´d like to mention that my claims were not too high to meet. But I expected it to be clean. When we arrived it took us about 15 minutes to get to our room (without baggage), because there are about 4 or 5 stairways which lead to the several floors. So I never dared to go to our room alone, because I did not want to get lost (which happens very easily).oh ya, the buggage. The rest of our group had already carried their stuff up to the 3rd floor(To reach a floor you have to take 4 staircases)but we were lucky. And so we saw...

eeeeeeeeeek!
from A TripAdvisor Member
Oh dear! Maybe i should have read the reviews first, because i think my expectations were too high in thinking we'd get decent accomodation! Firstly, the 'friendly' hotel staff greeted us with a warm, welcoming smile - not!! We then went up to our room, or maybe i should call it a dilapidated box (and believe me, i'm not over exaggerating!). The wires were exposed on the walls, the lights were broken giving a lovely neon affect (just the thing you want to be glaring at you, at 10 o'clock at night!), the 'shelf' was hanging off the wall,...

crikey!!
from A TripAdvisor Member
On checking in at the hotel my friend and i were told to turn right at reception and go up the stairs to find our room. This was quite traumatic as the hotel is like a maze and on route to our room we passed out of order toilets that smelt very bad! on entering the room we were stunned to silence with salmon pink walls grotty carpets and a car stero in the wall( which must have been set by the previous guests to 4am in the morning and woke us and i think the whole floor up with a start blasting music!!!) neither me or my friend could bring...

Looking back we can now laugh!!!

Well i dont no where to begin!! We just required somewhere cheap'n'cheerful for a couple of nights in London, near Hyde Park where we were watching the Chili Peppers. Firstly we too found it a struggle to find the room, the place is like a maze, and were only told to turn right after reception by the receptionist!? On finding the room me and my friend just had to sit and take it all in for quite some time(salmon pink walls, somekind of car stereo fixed in the wall!?) I didn't dare take my shoes off and touch the manky...

Not so bad as the reviews are
from A TripAdvisor Member
We booked the hotel for 2 nights (11-13 june 2004). It has been recommended to us as cheap but ok. A few days before the departure, I saw (by chance) the reviews posted on the net. We arrived and feared the mos. But it was like we were told: cheap but clean. - The receptionist was very kind and helpfull. - 25 person had a clean bed. - The rooms are absolute standard, but what do you expect for this price. - We had no facilities in our rooms, but the common facilities were ok. Used to taking showers in locker rooms, I...
