The Triton Hotel is not on the beach, but 5 minutes walk away. It is on the main road to Didim.
The rooms are clean, the public areas elegant and the staff very helpful and friendly. Our room at the front of the hotel was surprisingly quiet. Breakfast was typical Turkish fare and plentiful. The pool is small, but ideal for learner swimmers as it's not too deep. There are minor irritations; a leak in the bathroom, a broken TV, things like that, but if you just want basic accommodation at a good price, it's fine. Many guests at the hotel have been back year after year, which must speak for itself.
Altinkum itself I found to be noisy and rowdy towards the main areas. I won't be staying in the resort again, but the hotel was good.

The hotel staff are very friendly at the Triton and go out of their way to help you. Rooms are small but very clean and comfortable.
The hotel is situated on the main road with bars and restaurants close by. Noise is not an issue as the people attracted to Altinkum are families and middle-aged couples. We were here in June 2004 and are planning to return before the end of the year.
Visit Valentine’s pub next door or the Golf pub over the road for a good night out and a genuine welcome. The weather in the resort was fantastic and bargains were plentiful. Only 5 minutes walk from the beach and loads of excursions on offer.
Only warning would be to be wary in the markets where pickpockets operate. My purse was stolen in Soke Market. The purse was found and returned by the police minus the money but with credit cards intact. You will not be disappointed with Altinkum or the Triton Hotel.

The room is clean, but basic. The shower is very slow and there is never any hot water in the morning. The breakfast is not worth getting up for. When I booked the holiday, the tour operator confirmed that there is air condition in the room, but they did not say that the hotel will charge an extra £3 per day for using it.
The receptionist's English was very poor, therefore quite often it was like speaking to a brick wall. But generally the staffs are friendly, especially the restaurant staff. The hotel pool is very small, just about large enough for 4-5 children and there is only 9 sun lounger around the pool side. The only good thing about the hotel is the restaurant which serves good food at a reasonable price.
Definitely recommend the T bone steak. The hotel is 5 minutes from the beach, which is very dirty. You have to pay if you want to use the toilet or shower on the beach. I have never seen any public toilet around the resort at all. There is not much to do around the resort, but you can take tours or day trips. Not seem any shops worth going into, there are no decent handicraft or cloth shops, there are mainly shops that sell cheap knock offs and lots of estate agents!
Will not be returning to this resort, or Turkey again.
