Sanctuary House Hotel

I agree with all of the previous positive reviews. We stayed 4 nights (Late June 2004) and we (a group of 7) absolutely found the location perfect! Especially during the Tube Strike! We could walk to most of the places we wanted to see. The open-top bus tour took care of the rest. Westminster Abbey (1 block away) is a must-see. Breakfast was very good and filling, giving us a lot of energy for our sight-seeing. The staff was friendly, and, yes, the Lift did break from time to time. But overall we loved the place. Its all true!, Our anniversary weekend (nov 27th and 28th) spent at the sanctuary was very good.The hotel is in an ideal location only yards from WestminsterAbbey,Parliament and other landmarks and yet the street is quiet. The hotel has been refurbished to a very good standard and is a small cosy hotel rather than brash and impersonal.If you want a great place to base yourself for visiting London then I cannot imagine many better Hotels than the Sanctuary House Hotel.

We booked the Sanctuary House for our trip based on the good reviews on TripAdvisor and it worked out great. The superior room we had was large with a large bathroom by European standards and the cookies and tea were great to find on the table after a day of walking around! The location was great, near Westminster, and during the weekend was quiet as opposed to the more shopping and entertainment centered areas. My husband & I stayed at Sactuary House from Oct. 13 thru the 20th, 2004. The location was terrific. Westminster Abbey was a block away. The houses of Parliment and Buckingham Palace were nearby. The St. James Park tube station was within a block from the hotel. The hotel was well maintained. The rooms were pleasant and were a very, very good value for London. We booked a room 22/23 October based on reviews and boy were they right! A super hotel in a super location. A great plus is the parking outside the hotel which is FREE from 6.30pm Friday for the whole weekend! Our room was a corner one on the 3rd [4th US ] floor. Room 303 four poster bed beautiful matching curtains etc. We arrived with not much time to prepare for a show and were really hungry after a 5 hour drive but room service had a hot meal in our room in 15 minutes and a taxi waiting for us after that. I would like to strongly recommend this hotel whatever it would be the motivation that aim you to travel to London. We stayed in Sanctuary House Hotel for three nights, in October, 2004. First of all, I want to remark the excellent location of this hotel, only 300 m away from Westminster Abbey and less of 100 m from Saint James Park Tube Station. We stayed at Sanctuary House for 5 days in early August. Our executive room was small but comfortable, and we were very glad to have airconditioning, as the nights were very hot. The hotel is close to Westminster and the Houses of Parliament. The only real negative is that the accommodation is on the floors above a very noisy smoke filled pub, and there are very few other eating places within (safe) walking distance.

My parents and I stayed at the Sanctuary House Hotel from July 31st-August 9th, 2004. It was a small 34 room hotel well located. It was walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, The London Eye, London Aquarium, the Underground Tube station etc... This is a nice hotel. Book your room early, things were busy when we visited in Sept. Nice room, clean, very quiet, and friendly staff. A block away from the tube, close to Westminster Abby and Big Ben, located in the center of town. A nice stay at a reasonible price.

My husband and I returned to London for a few days, apart of our 2 week UK trip. We were very pleased with the hotel in most everyway. First we loved the fact it was just a block away from the St. James Tube, a stop or two away from anything in Central London (Parliament, Westminster Abbey, London Eye, and Victoria & Jubilee lines). We actually walked to Buckingham Palace, taking a leisurely 15 minute stroll through the Park just two blocks north. Foodwise, there are plenty of Pubs & delis all along the immediate block or two.... more
