Fantastic Hotel - So close to Green Park tube station and within walking distance of Oxford and Regent Street. Rooms very clean and if you are feeling lazy like we did - the room service is expensive but well worth it. There is a lovely little bar just inside the entrance... more

Rude General Manager
Stayed in early June. Great location. Complained about the size of the room to the General Manager who said that I should have booked a larger room!
Great Staff
Booked a weekend break via the web site and was quite pleased with the price of £320.00 for two nights B&B for two in a deluxe double room. The hotel was really well situated and right next door to Fortnum & Mason (can recommend lunch there in the restaurant overlooking the shop). We have stayed in better hotels, but the room was very nicely appointed and the bathroom was great. We did experience some noise from the street below at 3am, which turned out to be the nightclub 'Tramp', but it really wasn't too much of a problem. The hotels greatest asset has to be it's friendly, pleasant and helpful staff. Everyone went the extra mile to help - which we found quite unusual for London. The only minus would have to be the amount of guests smoking in the lounge - not nice when you are having a snack or a drink. All in all a very nice hotel that is perfectly placed.
Excellent service akk round
Just returned from a 1 night stay at the De Vere Cavendish. We got a very reasonable rate of £140 including full breakfast for a double room via Laterooms. Our friends had a great view from the 12th floor, we were on the 2nd, so no view to speak of, but had a more spacious room with a separate sitting area to compensate. Style of room was contemporary, with a very comfortable bed. Great location near to everything. Service was excellent throughout - check in and out quick and easy. Receptionist came to the rescue as husband had forgotten his cufflinks and they loaned a pair. Plenty of attentive staff at breakfast - I have stayed elsewhere in London where it has been impossible to get coffee and toast to coincide with the rest of the breakfast because you are waiting so long - not so here, and they cooked eggs to order instead of expecting you to put up with one kept warm for ages. Top marks there. Contrary to other reviews I didn't notice any stinginess with the toiletries - which were good (Spa Therapy), and surely it is well known that it is a bad idea to use the hotel phone because of the size of the bill? Most people would be better advised to use either a pre-pay card or their own mobile these days. Certainly a good 4 star standard. Would definitely go back.
fantastic hotel
What can I say fantastic hotel , just got back after a suprise trip for our wedding anniversary, feels more like a 5 star than 4! on arrival we were offered free upgrade to suite as we wanted an early check in to enable us to go to the theatre, the decor is first class in and out of room, cant say enough will be back
A little disapointed
Outside phone call too high at 2.50 pounds....hotel is way too stingy on supplies like soap and towels....service is just ok and the staff clad in white "t" shirts is just too overdone...they look sloppy...breakast upgrade from continental to full is 6.00 pounds. Overall this is not a four star hotel and I felt a little gouged.... the location is excellant and that was our reason for picking it.
Highly Recommend the Cavendish
Great location- walking distance to Picadilly, Bond Street, lots of shops and sites. Hotel has valet parking which is extremely helpful. Overall, hotel is very clean with contemporary attractive furnishings. Staff is helpful and friendly. High speed internet is available for a fee. Good room for both vacation and business. Would definitely come back to this hotel again. Breakfast buffet was very nice and extensive. Wasn't thrilled with room service I ordered for dinner. I have provided pictures of my room, keep in mind this was a Queen corner room so it was a bit larger than most others. I saw a typical room with a full size bed. It was smaller but still very nicely appointed.
Fantastic
Great location, just a stone's throw from Piccadilly. Friendly staff and simple check-in. My wife and I stayed in the penthouse on the 15th floor. The view over London was incredible. Room facilities were superb, as you would expect. We enjoyed an excellent dinner in the hotel, and the buffet breakfast was faultless. Would definitely stay here again.
Terrific hotel
In April 2005 I spent 8 nights at the De Vere Cavendish St. James (aka "The Cavendish") on a business trip and I enjoyed every minute I had at the hotel. It is a solidly 4-star establishment (the 4-star rating is always a little iffy, so I'm here to confirm that status). Literally one block from the Royal Academy of Arts, 5 minute walk from Picadilly Circus (and great late-night grocery store, of all things) or Green Park tube station. It's a very posh area, and my colleagues who live in London said I got an unbelievably good deal for that location. The help was polite and professional, and not stuffy or snooty. Mostly Eastern European and eager to please. The restaurant food was excellent as was the service there. My room was incredibly quiet and, for a European 4-star, quite spacious. Furnishings were sleek and modern - nothing frumpy in the place. I had a nice view from my room and was given the option to upgrade for $40/night (my room was $206/night booked on alpharooms) upon arrival to a room twice as large with a bathtub (I declined, only because I was alone). Everything was emaculately clean, housekeeping was perfect. The ground-floor lobby was efficient and sleek, and includes a small bar, and the 1st floor includes a spacious, very comfortable and chic lounge and a huge restaurant. The only negatives: very odd was that there was no door on my bathroom. It looked like there was supposed to have been a pocket-door but they forgot to install it, or something. That was fine for me, as I was staying there alone - although I had a couple visitors one evening and that was awkward. The larger room I turned down had a normal set-up. And the place has 3 fairly small elevators and 90 percent of the time, one of the three elevators was out of service, which created anxiety-producing delays before and after breakfast rush on the way to work. Oh, and the mattress was too soft for me - but I still slept well because everything else was so comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone - unless you've got literally twice as much money to spend on a true 5-star establishment.
A great location in contempory comfort
Booked as a weekend break over the Easter bank holiday (a special offer via the De Vere reservation line). The hotel has an almost perfect location, between Green Park and Piccadilly Circus. The hotel is located on Jermyn street, just far enough away from the hustle and bustle to ensure a peaceful nights sleep. The entrance is very discrete, I almost walked past. The hotels facilities were ideal for our needs. I prefer modern, clean and comfortable rooms - the Cavendish offered just that. The CD player in the room was an unusual touch. Heating/AirCon was quiet and efficient. Bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept on in the UK (does anything match 'heavenly beds' in the USA?) The restaurant and bar were fine. We ate at the restaurant on the first night and the staff were very accommodating to our request for a speedy meal as we had theatre seats to get to. Overall, a hotel that was perfect for our needs - I shall be returning in June.
Location, Location, Location
What a perfect place for a hotel, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Booked this through BA Holidays and was not dissappointed. Hotel arranged several lunch / dinner reservations and top notch restaurants without problems along with car service (expensive at 50 GBP but easier then doing it yourself and it was a Mercedes). Rooms are very modern and not particularly large, but this is downtown London just a couple of blocks from The Ritz. Minibar is one of those that if you remove something to make room for a bottle that you bought at the local store, you are automatically charged - we just left a note saying not to refill the fridge so that we could store the pop we bought at the TESCO grocery just at the end of Jermyn Street. The only thing that was slightly bothersome was the semi-frosted glass in the bathroom door, which given the angle of the bed, did not provide much privacy when in the WC. All in all, would stay here again for the convenience and the price.
