My wife and I stayed here to celebrate my birthday earlier this year. We made reservations to arrive on the Friday night and depart on the Sunday lunch time. We booked direct with the hotel.

The hotel is located just a few minutes walk from Harrods and upon exiting the tube station and walking the 2 minutes to the hotel you pass many shops. Among the names were Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana to name a few. It was definitely a very nice area.

Once inside the hotel we were greeted by the reception staff who quickly checked us in and took our bag to our room for us. The receptionist then picked up our room keys and proceeded to show us to our room, while giving us a mini tour of the hotel as we went. It is an amazing establishment. It has many facilities and I only wish I had packed swim wear so that I could enjoy the indoor heated swimming pool.

Our room was huge for a central London hotel. The foyer as you enter the room is a massive built in wardroom - almost walk in - this area is as big as some rooms I had stayed in, in other hotels. The room it's self was dominated by the Super King Size bed and the unit that housed the 40 inch Plasma screen, DVD player and Hi Fi system. I was in my element as I love gadgets. The bathroom was also very impressive although a couple of the fixtures around the bath were loose. A chat with reception the next morning had them fixed before we returned at lunch time.

The only fault we found with the hotel was in fact the other guests. Many of them were obviously very wealthy, therefore they strut around like the owned the place and didn’t think twice about shoving my wife out the way to get in the lift before us. However, unfortunately you get these kind of people no matter where you go.

It is worth nothing that on the Sunday morning - my birthday - 3 porters arrived with our breakfast on a trolley. There was also a Bottle of Moet and a Birthday Cake compliments of the Hotel. The porters then sang me happy birthday, I was pretty embarrassed but it was very kind of them. We left a thank you note for them when we checked out as they were all on lunch. A few days later I received a very nice letter from the hotel general manager saying he was pleased we enjoyed our stay. Now that is what I call service.
