Remember THERE ARE THREE PRINCESS...
8 / 10
Mar 2008, Mr RM Tristram

Remember THERE ARE THREE PRINCESS HOTELS IN TAURITO - all 4 star: Taurito Princess, Taurito Princess Suite, and this one. Our impression was that the Taurito Princess was much more posh. This is just from walking around the reception, bars and grounds, and you will probably find it's more expensive. HOWEVER, the Mogan Princess has better views than any of the others. I asked for a high room and I think it was actually about 200 feet above sea level. We had a view of Puerto de Mogan and could see the sun set from our balcony every evening.
It seems to me that all of the rooms have a sea view. Strange that I could not find that out for certain until we got there! I think the other two Princesses are the same in that respect. However, the Lago Taurito is in a somewhat inferior position and the Costa Taurito is very inferior. There is also the Cala Blanca which looks over the sea across the main road. They are currently building two more but the noise was pretty negligible.
Yes, it is quite a long walk up the hill from the beach, but we hired a car - for £79 for the week - and there are 3 free buses up and down each day.
Other things: The rooms were scrupulously cleaned, bathrooms very nice, Heated outdoor pools. Breakfast and evening meals all buffet, not great but good, and with tremendous variety. There was a show every evening. Not bad, you can't expect Las Vegas. Staff courteous, other guests seemed pleasant.
The only reason I don't give it 10 out of 10 is that the rooms are in pairs with connecting doors - normally locked. This means that you potentially hear your neighbours as if they are staying in the next bedroom in your house. I was shocked when I heard them, but in the end it wasn't too bad.

Top marks all round. The hotel is...

Top marks all round. The hotel is large and spacious and sits atop a considerable
hill overlooking the whole valley and the water park.
We went all inclusive, and found it excellent value for money. We were a party of
two families and were in two adjacent suites at pool level.
The pool bar was opposite, but we found this very convenient, as it only opens
11 am to 6 pm, therefore noise was not an issue.
Breakfast lunch and dinner is buffet style, and I have to say excellent, with a wide selection and lots of healthy choices. Even with my best efforts,
and having 2 meals at every sitting, I only managed to put on 3 pounds in the week.
In between the breakfast / lunch / dinner servings a range of snacks was available
from the resturant at the back of the pool area. These were hot dogs/burgers and toasties,
but all freshly cooked and a large salad bar is available also.
There is a bloke, the head Animacion bloke, a Spanish chap who does everything from the pool aerobics, to the water polo and calling the Bingo
(all in Spanish/English/German). When doing the Bingo he starts off by asking the nationality of the people there. By far the loudest cheer
was Czech Republic, so they seem to outnumber all other nationalities.

The staff at the front desk are very helpful, multi tasking, multi lingual, and fleet of foot.
The evening entertainment consists of Minidisco from 8 until 8.30 ("I am the music man", Black Lace etc) then recorded music (old Spice Girls, Santana)
and then Bingo, which in 3 languages takes a while. At 10 there is professional entertainment, now this is is NOT the Animacion gang again,
it's professional acts. One night the Tramps were on. With one M. No relation I don't think, but they did do Disco Inferno a lot.
Other nights we had Flamenco dancers, Argentinian Gaucho dancers (bolas flying everywhere), a reptile/birds of prey show, and Chinese Acrobats.
If they ever all turn up on the same night it will be chaos.
Room extension was available to us, for E30.00, and this included the all inclusive element, and lasted until the
coach came.
A marvellous stay and I cannot recommend highly enough.
Transfer time - expect 90 mins to 2 hours from baggage carousel to getting into your room. They tunnelled through some of the mountains,
but they ran out of tunnel and had to go over the rest.

Just returned from a very relaxing...

Jan 2008, Mrs B Murray

Just returned from a very relaxing week in Morgan Princess hotel, very nice clean hotel, food was excellent with plenty of choice we were all inclusive. Staff were very helpful, entertainment every night.
We could also use the facilities in the Taurito Princess and Suite Princess which was nice for a change of scene. Frequent free bus service up the fairly steep hill to the hotel - we walked down the hill which was a bit hazardous due to many pot holes inthe pavement and then got a taxi back which was less than 3 euros.
Free bus service to Porta Mogan and Porta Ricco. Sun gets round to the pool about 11.00am and the sunsets really made the holiday with fantastic views and beautiful colours to watch from the balcony every night. All in all I would definitely go back to this hotel and resport, it is great for a chill and relaxing holiday.

Jan 2008, Mr A Birch

Got there on Xmas Eve, checked in and got room keys; first thoughts was the three lifts to get to room! Once in room though what a view and only took 5 mins in lifts to get up and down. Room itself great. plenty of space as we had 2 rooms with adjoining doors so loads of privacy.
Food ok plenty of everything, don't expect it to be as good as home but you will survive except the Xmas Day gala dinner that was dreadful it was lamb with blood running out of it, all courses bad.
Area the hotel is in is quiet and on a high hill, if I was looking for pubs, clubs or resturants this was not the place to be. The hotel was spotless, the staff ok if you had the cash you would get your drinks faster in the hope of a tip (AI customers were second class). Evening entertainment was good and pool great.
Mogan harbour is beatiful unspoilt very Spanish. Overall a good hotel worth the 4 stars.

After booking a hotel in Puerto Rico...
3 / 10
Jan 2008, Mrs N Stinton

After booking a hotel in Puerto Rico we arrived at airport to be told that the hotel was over booked and that we would now be staying in the Princess Mogan.
On arrival the hotel looked spotless and our room was very nice, however the maids were lazy and cleaned the floor only once in the week we stayed. Towels were limited. Food was very bland and it was the same every night. On the 3 day of our holiday my husband had the doctor out and had 6 injections due to food poisoning, then me and my 7yr old daughter were sick and had stomach cramps.
The evening entertainment was useless unless you are German. They cater MOSTLY for German tourists and they had priority over everyone else. The cabaret shows were terrible, school children could perform better.
Taxis cost a fortune if you want lively entertainment in Puerto Rico, 30 euros return. Beach near by is not nice and again you have to get a taxi to the beach, shop and pharmacy.
Will not be returning here and would not recommend this to anyone.

Dec 2007, Mr Trefor Prytherch

Pity, we had stayed at both the other 2 Princess Hotels in the resort over Christmas and really enjoyed them both, the Mogan however was a disappointment. Luckily we always hire a car so were able to navigate the very steep one mile hill leading to reception but spoke to lots of people who had not (most of them were out of breath carrying ropes).
The reception staff were friendly if a little confused, though the catering people were quite surly when asked for anything out of the ordinary. The entertainment was so-so but the outside bar suspended at the side of the building was wonderful, the food was reasonable if rather similar every day.
The whole place was kept clean (as you would expect from a so called 4 star), though little things were annoying (the soap was never renewed, silly eh) and when our sink became blocked it took 2 days to get it sorted out (silly eh).
Anyone contemplating a holiday at this hotel should really have a look at its two sister hotels on the resort the "Suit Princess" or the "Taurito Princess" they are everything that is good about Spanish/Canarian holidays, quite superb but the "Mogan" well, lets be kind, give it time (lots of time).

Nov 2007, Mrs M Matthams

The hotel was definitely 4*. The accommodation was spotless, as was the reception area, dining room and lounge. We were half-board and the breakfasts were excellent as were the evening meals. Great choice and wonderfully presented. The evening entertainment was good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is at the top of a very steep hill and towards the end of the week we got a taxi from down in Taurito, but this was not a problem as there is a taxi stand and the taxi's are easily obtainable. We would recommend anyone to go into the nearby town of Mogan. We would also recommend the Yellow Submarine (in Mogan) and the camels at Fataga which take you through the Valley of a Thousand Palms. These trips and others were available to book through the hotel rep. All in all an excellent holiday.

Just got back from GC and I have to...
8 / 10
Nov 2007, Mrs E Welsh

Just got back from GC and I have to say the holiday did what it said on the tin. The resort is dead - in that if you want loud music and bars then don't go to Taurito, go to Puerto Rico. As a young family we wanted a week off work, sunshine (as it has been lacking in the UK) and drinks and food a plenty.
We got all those things!!
We arrived at the hotel about 7am in morning and hotel staff were helpful and we found our room no problem. It had a spare bed in it for my 2 year old. The room was clean and the view was/is amazing. The view is well worth the trip. Breakfast was the usual AI, everything and anything. I would say the food overall was really good, a bit of everything. If you don't like to get your food from a hot plate - don't go AI.
Main concerns of hotel - need a more frequent shuttle service up and down the very very steep hill that the hotel is on. Also some, not all, bar staff (especially pool bar) seem to busy themselves with cleaning rather than serving the AI guests. My advice just shout loudly or send your husband!
I found the bar staff really nice and they were all so friendly with kids. Evening entertainment was brilliant for kids, a mini disco and then some form of cabaret. Not everyone's cup of tea, but perfect for families. We were lucky there were lots of other families there, other guests were really friendly.
All round a good holiday, not 5 or probably even 4* some areas need up dating, but if you want luxury then pay for it. If you want a reasonable/ good/ warm holiday then you'll enjoy it.

Oct 2007, Mr M Bumstead

Before I went I read the reviews and was confused. I think it must be horses for courses. 10 out of 10 it was not but is anywhere, you can always find something that could be better, but it isn't 5 out of ten either.
We found the rooms very clean. Staff were polite helpful and friend despite being overworked. Our main criticism, I don't think they gave any preference to whether the guest was all inclusive or paying - they all had to wait equally long times especially at busy times.
While we were there it was a Spanish Bank Holiday and the hotel was full of Canarians from Las Palmas on long weekend breaks, they got no preferential treatment.
Food I thought was the best selection I had ever had on an all inclusive and the quality was at least as good as elsewhere. I especially recommend the breakfasts - best egg and bacon I have ever had outside the British Isles.
The location could be better as it is a hike up the hill back from the beach, but the glorious view compensated for this.

We (my Hubby, 2 year old son, & I)...
6 / 10
Sep 2007, Mrs J Opoku

We (my Hubby, 2 year old son, & I) booked this holiday at the very last minute and so didn't have time to check all the reviews.
We booked it 2 days before going so we were grateful to Thomas Cook, but we didn't think that it was a 4* hotel. It might have been if it had been maintained from the beginning but there were just too many minor aspects (cleaning and repairs) that had been neglected.
We'd give it 3*.
On the whole, it was generally clean, but he corners, sills and under the beds weren't.
The staff were delightful, and couldn't do enough to help.
The transportation system in GC is good, but the bus stop near the hotel was a bit difficult (steep hill) to get to, but you could get a cab if you so wished.
The food was alright. They had a fair variety and you could find something to fill you up. I never ate from the salad bar once just because I preferred hot food and I got my meat and veg all from there.
Well we were always out during the day so didn't partake in any of the afternoon activities, but our son loved the mini-disco. The animation team were wonderful! The evening entertainment was just OK.
All in all the holiday was enjoyable. We wouldn't go there again only because there are other parts of GC to and the world to see. Plus I'd prefer to be able to get transportation right outside the hotel, just because I'm on holiday and refuse to have to exert myself.

Was our second visit to the Princess...
5 / 10
Sep 2007, Mr Sv Murray

Was our second visit to the Princess but unfortunately in the 11mnths that have elapsed since our last visit it has gone downhill. We went half board in Sept 2006 and found the bar service and drinks all ok, but this time the service was poor and all-inclusive were treated second rate.
Trying to get drinks at the pool bar and lounge bar was an insult and there is no kind of protocol to who had been waiting to be served being served first. One night in the lounge I waited 40 mins to get some drinks and that was it for the night. The drinks served to the all-inclusive guests were really only fit for the camels on the island - flat and watery, but half board or if you wanted to part with your cash had proper drinks. I paid 8 euros for 1 brandy and bottle of coke.
The pool area which we loved had deteriorated and was not as clean. The pool bar was under staffed with most times just 1 member of staff serving and this included cooking the snacks.
The rooms are starting to show wear and tear and the maid we had was useless. Unlike last time, but the views are electric and can’t be faulted. The food being ok but very repetitive and the service and queuing at times leaves a lot to be desired. The bar shuts too early and the entertainment was on the poor side. The animation team were very poor unlike the year before where they were excellent.
One night in the lounge a fight broke out; the villains being a group of Spanish setting upon a British male and female with the Spanish starting it all. This went on for about 15 mins with tables flying shouting and pushing. To our amazement the next day the brits had left the hotel but the Spanish trouble makers were still there, we found this very uncomfortable.
On summarizing the hotel management seem to have cut everything to the bone. There were far to few staff and even though they were miserable and even insulting at times, they did work non stop and hard. I will not be returning which upsets me as my previous visit I found it great value. Watch out for the new hotels opening they look fab and are closer to the beach. Of the Princess hotels already on the beach they are 98% populated with Germans but are of higher quality. Take note of other reviews concerning Taurito as nights are very sedate - if you like a bit of night life be prepared to fork out for cabs but they are reasonable. If you go to the mogan don’t buy at the mini market on the hotel, take a trip to the Spar near the beach to get all your drinks and fill your fridge - its half the cost.

I booked the holiday as a late deal...
7 / 10
Sep 2007, M103

I booked the holiday as a late deal and was aware that the location is fairly quiet prior to my arrival.
This hotel is not to the same standard as previous princess hotels that I have stayed at. It was to a reasonable standard, however, not right up there with some of the others.
The main pool area was very crowded with steps and stairs everywhere.
In Playa Taurito itself there are three princess hotels and this is the third in terms of quality.
The staff were fine, food and facilities good and I wouldn't say don't stay there, however, it lags behind in the memorable places to stay race and I would only return if the price was very good -something that the management should take as an indication of where the hotel may be placed in the future in terms of marketing and branding.
