Just returned from the Metiterranean Village Hotel yesterday and was very impressed with all aspects of H10.I read some of the reviews of some of the the guests before our holiday and was a bit concerned on there comments.I can honestly say they were sadly mistaken and were looking for 5 star treatment for 3-4 star prices. The check in time was a bit of a wait (2pm and we arrived at 11 am)but you can store your suit cases in a holding area and go walk about around cap salou,or grab a bus outside the hotel(no 1) which will take you down to Salou and drop you on the strip(3.50 euroes for a couple). The room we had was perfect, top floor over looking the pools and sun loungeing areas(we prebooked this at our travel agent). You had the sun shining from 9am till 7pm.Also you could watch the outdoor show from your balcony. The food was excellent, the choices were many and there was always something there for all tastes. The staff work hard and will cater for you at all times. They are all very pleasant and curtious and the odd thank you to them cheers them up no end.We ate b/fast and evening meals every day of our stay which is unlike us as we eat out a lot when on holiday. The entertainment of an evening was good and I know a lot was geared for the kids but it is a family style hotel and it explains this on there websight. Our room was cleaned and tidied every day with new towels and clean bedding changed once during our stay. The reception helped us on numerous occasions with questions on where and how to get there.Adventure Park is a must,42 euros may seem a lot for entry but worth every euro.Took us 7 hrs to see it all and every thing except food and drinks are in with the price.Tarragona, chambrills and La Pineda worth a look also.Went to Nou Camp Barcelona which was very impressive. For shopping though very very busy in the centre and watch out for pick pockets it is rife there.Only down point was the drinks in the hotel are very expensive but if you have a good view from your room sit and enjoy with your own beer or wine.If going on excursions use the Plana buses which can be booked at the top of the hill when you turn left at the end of the drive for the hotel.Much cheaper than the tour operators. We will defonately be returning and will also be using one of the H10 Hotels.

My partner and i just returned from a week in cap salou staying at Med Village hotel. We arrived at 10.30pm, check in was fine. Our room was spacious, yet the furnishings were very dated and dingy. I was surprised that our beds were only changed once during our stay and we recieved new towels only once also, i had to ask for more. The cleanliness of our room was poor, and to our horror we discovered some previous guests dirty underwear under our bathroom sink just lying on top of the pipes, totally rank! People who rated this hotel high clearly have no expectations, it certainly does not warrant a 4 star. The entertainment is mostly geared towards kids and if you have a family then this would suit you fine, the animation team work very hard and long hours and they get the kids really involved, however they do get them very hyper and when its time for the adult show you cant really enjoy it fully as the kids do run riot. There is also supposed to be strict rules about under 18s not drinking alcohol, well there was plenty of under age teenagers consuming bottle after bottle of blue wicked. resulting in loutish behaviour. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times, the choice is poor and not very nice, we recommened The Smugglers Inn, its not far from the hotel and the food is really nice. This hotel on face value appears good, and the staff are very pleasant and helpfull, but if you are a couple with no kids, dont go to this hotel, theres nothing in it for you.

Overall the Mediterranean Village is a good hotel
It is situated in a good location only a 5 minute walk to the Cap Salou village which has a few family pubs and places to eat. You can also walk to Salou which is alot busier it is a nice walk about twenty minutes. However the buses run from outside the hotel every 15 minutes.
The rooms are of a normal standard, But who wants to spend time in their rooms on holiday anyway?
There are a lot of children, but the entertainment is aimed at adults and children. Everyone seems to get involved which is a good thing, especially with the dances at the end of the evening. Everyone seemed to get along and there was always a nice atmosphere. The entertainment team were the best ive experienced on a holiday in a long while, very friendly and there to make your holiday enjoyable. Some of the shows they had were really good!
The sunbeds were not a problem, there were always sunbeds available throughout the day and the two swimming pools are quite big.
There was a variaty in the food which was also good.
Overall this is a good hotel, i couldn't find much wrong with it.

Not as good as you'd hope for a 4 star
Check in was poor, we arrived at 11am and had to wait until 2pm to get our room keys.
The room was old and dingy and hadn't been cleaned properly, although after complaining, a made arrived with a management type straight away.
The pools and facilities are very good (although dominated by Kids) and the reps are very friendly. The roof top jacuzzi terrace was very peacefull and relaxing as you have to be 18 to attend.
Entertainment is completely driven towards kids, and they play the cheeky girls song about 10 times a day,.... serious!!
The food wasnt very good in the evening, but breakfast is ok. Selection and taste is not of a 4 star standard.
Overall the hotel is ok in parts, good in parts and poor in some areas. Really more of a 3 star.

Firstly, anyone booking on line with Thomas Cook be aware of not ticking the box if you require you luggage allowance to be 20kg per passenger, it costs and extra £15 pp but is worth it as you will definately be charged for being overweight.
As for the hotel, it has 5* prices i.e. a bottle of "Magners" and a voka and coke cost 13 Euros, about £10-£11, also we found the resturant to be very poor, the plates were always cold and a warmer kept around 100 pre fried eggs not the hottest. the selection was poor and always cold., but the good news is there is a great brittish resturant, a 10 minute walk, in the "Village Area" called the Smugglers which serves a great steak and an excellent valued combo meal for two. The main areas in the hotel are quite good and the animation team did a great job enteraining, however as before the rooms in our opinion are that of a 3* hotel and not 4*. there is also a good supermarket around 300 meters away with far better prices than the two located at the hotle complex.

Went to this resort just a week ago, it was fantastic went with my girlfriend and 7 friends and we are all in early 20's and we all loved the hotel and the entertainment.
The hotel was very clean every member of staff i spoke to always had a smile and was very pleasent. It's not to far from the beach there is a small private beach just down the hill from the hotel and it was great sun was always shining real strong on it and there is a little restraunt/bar beside it called "THE KNIGHTS INN" with exellent service and lovely food i would defintly recommend the breakfest there compared to the hotel breakfest.
i can say you will always get a good nite sleep in block b of the hotel there is very little noise and in the morning your room is brushed, mopped and windows and mirrors cleaned. The view from our balcony was facing the golf course and you could see a few rides in portaventura it was a amazing experience and i would defintly go back!!!!

My Boyfriend and I have just returned from a holiday at this wonderful hotel. Going as a couple I was nervous about the mention of kids. But we had an absolutely fantastic holiday. Kids will always be kids but we didn't have any bad experiences with them at all.
The room upon arrival was spotless and couldn't fault the cleaning service for the rest of the holiday. We had clean towels everyday and the beds were made. The Bed sheets were changed every 3 days. If there was anything on the floor they picked it up and folded it on our beds. The maids were always pleasent.
As were the staff in reception, bar and restuarant. Being half board we could not fault the food. The breakfasts had lots of choice every morning ranging from coco pops to cooked breakfasts with every choice of spread for your toasts and pastries. The food in the evening was even better. Again a lot of choice, for those with kids there is a Daisy corner with food for the children suited to their needs where you can use kids plates with a choice of Winnie the Pooh or Mickey Mouse. The staff in the restaurant work extremely hard and are hot on the cleaning of tables etc.
The issue of sunbeds is one you experience everywhere. However, its not one we experienced in this hotel. The sunbeds were unlocked at 9am which was ideal for us as we went for breakfast at 8.30 then went to get a sunbed. You could always get a sunbed any time of the day.
The Animation Team are there to make your holiday enjoyable. They do activities at 10.30, 11.30, 3pm, 4pm ranging from Archery to Olympics. I didn't take part in the activities but my boyfriend did and enjoyed them all. They do activities for ages 4 - 8 in the daisy club, 9 - 12s 13 - 17 and 18+. They are all amazing people and just work hard to ensure you to have a good time. They did the entertainment in the nights, every night and really do work extremelly hard. A special mention to Katarina, Martin and Sebastian. Two of whom took time out on our last night to have a drink with us. They definately deserve a pay rise. The Cheeky Song only becomes annoying when you refuse to enjoy yourself.
Salou is only a short bus/taxi ride away. Taxi roughly 8 Euros bus around 2 euros each. Is better to get a bus down and taxi back. There is a big taxi rank down by the beach where there are taxis 24hrs a day. The reception will book you a taxi to pick you up outside if you dont fancy the bus.
We did two trips with Thomas Cook Portaventura and Aquapolis and thoroughly enjoyed both. Especially recommend Portaventura if theme parks are your thing. Rachel was always pleasent and helpful.
I would definately recommend this hotel and resort to anybody. Couples families and groups of people.

Arrived back from having 2 weeks at H10 on 7 september,Myself partner 4 kids aged 4,6,9,12,Had a fantastic time entertainment team are second to none kept adults and kids entertained
Hotel staff polite and friendly,My partner didnt think much of the food i quite enjoyed it (shes picky).
My room was big not cleaned very well, maids brought clean towels and made beds everyday but that was all they done.
My partners room had a dirty toilet seat when she first went in, it wasnt very nice.
The entertainment made our holiday, if it wasn't for them my partner would of hated it.
If you have children I would go, kids club excellent it is catered to make sure kids are happy. If you are a couple dont go the kids will do your head in.
Be prepared to spend lots on buses if you plan to go into salou or other parts around.
Buddys and co in Salou arrange to pick you up from your hotel if you aregoing to eat in there on the night. The food in there is excellent.
All round a good holiday a bit too far out when you have kids, but you could just stay in hotel all day and have the kids entertained.

we have just got back after 2 wonderful weeks in cap salou. the hotel was clean and had everything we needed to hand. as we were self catering we dined most nights at the paddock just down the hill where the service and food were equally as good the people were always friendly and the surroundings pleasant and clean if you go to cap salou give it a try.they know how to fry an egg!
the beach was very small and got crowded quickly but just a short bus ride or taxi ride away was la pineda beach which was fantastic it was massive it was clean and if you got off the bus at the end stop just before the bank and tobacconists there was a little beach hut that serves drinks and food and provides you with sunbeds GO to that one its the best on the beach they are helpful and friendly and always give a little exta something with your drinks like olives or nuts. they were excellent with my little lad, he tried his best to speak in spanish to them which they found sweet and well mannered and often rewarded him with crisps and ice creams they were just really nice friendly people. oh and while in la pineda finish off the day at asuuuuucar bar my favourite they really know what a large vodka means!
travelling with thomas cook was the best holiday experience we have ever had and we are already booking same place same company again the thomas cook reps at hotel and the thomas cook cabin staff on the plane were faultless they made the whole holiday experience a must for anyone family or single they really know how to look after you!

After reading some of these reviews, I was nervous about going to the hotel with one of my friends! As my friend was taken ill at the airport, I ended up flying out alone, which didn't help my nerves at all but another friend flew out to meet me a few days later.
This is a great hotel for families, the entertainment is extremely cheesy and if you don't want to hear the Cheeky Girls 10 times a day (no exageration!) it's probably not for you, however, the younger kids seemed to love it, what six year old doesn't want to spend their time singing the Hokey-Cokey and chasing an entertainer dressed as a giant daisy around in the evenings?!
The staff couldn't have been more helpful, especially when they knew I was there on my own, the room was clean and comfortable, and also a good size, the balcony was massive and the air conditioning was brilliant, a real bonus considering how hot it was!
The sun bed situation is a bit daft, but i feel people on this site may have over exagerated it slightly. I got home only 2 days ago so consider this info accurate! The sunbeds are unlocked at 9am, which is hardly the crack of dawn, the main problem is the lack of space around the pool and therefore people go out early and place towels down where they intend to put their lounger. I found the top pool more croweded than the bottom and was able to go out on the dot of 9am, get a lounger and put it pretty much wherever i wanted to around the bottom pool, there were even loungers free for most of the morning, so getting up at 8am isn't a must. And once you've done that you can go for breakfast.
Staying half-board, I found the food to be very good, a decent amount of choice, lots of salads and cold meats, and 4 or 5 different hot dishes. The dining room is very attractive and the staff attentive.
The on site supermarket is overpriced, but this is something i find in all hotels, there are other shops in the area and the bus to Salou costs less than 2 euros and leaves from right outside the hotel.
Drinks in the bar are again overpriced, and again this is typical of hotels i've stayed in, however the waiters will serve you in your seats, both during the day and in the evening, meaning you can be as lazy as you like!
Overall, i think this is a great hotel for families, but perhaps less so for couples and groups of friends. There are a lot of kids about, some less well-brought up than others! But we certainly never experienced the kind of problems reported by others on this site.
I flew with Thomas Cook and found the reps were superb, they were always on hand and assisted me in booking a flight for my friend to join me and were happy to stop for a chat and give advice when needed, without trying to pester you all the time. Rachel, in particular is a star!
My advice would be to not take the negative comments to heart too much and make you own mind up when you get there, I had a great time!

Overall a good holiday for myself my wife and three kids, rooms were cleaned every day with towel changes. The food, poolside snack bar and shop were very expensive,
if you goto the top of the hill where all the buses are picking people up turn left and continue to the second or third street on the left, there is a supermarket very resonably priced half way up. The entertainment staff were great, from 9am to 11pm at night they were always busy. Jump on a bus and goto Tarragona if u want a proper Spanish town, theres not many tourist there. Cambrilis was nice aswell. If youve got kids a 14 Day Pass to Port Aventura is a must. Salou itself was more for the younger generation with night life and action. If your going half board or inclusive our friends said the food was very good with different themes on different nights stick to the local brew, a pint of Magners was 6 euros... We enjoyed!!

Just come back from a weeks holiday. We booked this at the last minute so we weren't expecting much. However very surprised as to how nice the place was. The hotel was clean and tidy with plenty space to wander. The pools were brilliant and never seemed too full. Sun bed issue was and probably will never change. I found it hillarious watching people from my balcony up at the crack of dawn just to get a space at the pool edge. We ate once in the hotel restaurant which wasn't all that good so I would advise self catering to any body. It is much cheaper and better food if you wander into the village. It is only a short bus ride to either Salou or La Pineda. Salou is better if you want to shop but the beach is over crowded and not particularly nice. La Pineda on the other hand was lovely and my pick of beach.
Don't be too put off by some of the costs of the activities shown by the reps. These are pretty good. We went on the Decades night which was absolutely brilliant. They take the kids into a different room for 2 hours and put on a show suitable for them and leave the parents to relax and have a good drink, for which there is plenty. The comedian is pretty good if you like Lee Evans you'll enjoy his act.
In all I thought this was a brilliant place with a lot for us still to do, we will be booking again next year.

Just returned from 2 weeks at Med Village, Cap Salou. Was family holiday myself, my husband and our daughter aged 10. First of all this hotel should be rated 3* and not 4*. The food is nowhere near as good as other 4* hotels we have stayed in in Spain. My daughter is vegetarian and the vegetarian options on offer left a lot to be desired e.g. one night pea puree! Chips at breakfast time, no yogurt of any kind at breakfast. Meals also became repetitive. Surely there is other fish than hake? You have to pay for all drinks with dinner and I think water and soft drinks should be included with dinner free of charge.
Rooms were ok. Could have possibly done with little more storage. However, the maids came in every day and you could have clean towels every day if you wanted them. Staff were polite although perhaps some could smile more expecially in restaurant.
Walls between rooms were paper thin. There was lot of noise at night. We could hear man in next room snoring.
Top pool was a nightmare as there was not an inch of space between the sunbeds. The bottom pool was better. Sunbeds were reserved but we did find that if you went down to the pool about 9.00 a.m. and put your towel on a sunbed like everyone else did it was ok. After this time it was not a case of there not being any sunbeds but more that there was no space available for them. Pool area was clean and never felt pool was crowded.
Have roof top jacuzzi and we tried this. It was very quiet with brilliant view. Children allowed if supervised by an adult.
The entertainment was very poor. The professional act turned out to be the same group of lads with a different name on 2 nights. The entertainment reps put on other "shows" but quite honestly watching people dance and mime (and badly) to music is not entertainment - it was an insult. We found that after suffering this we went down into Cap Salou most nights. We can recommend Micky's Bar. Drinks at the hotel were also far too expensive and were cheaper in the other bars in the resort.
Salou itself was 5 minutes away by bus as was La Pineda. Salou was dirty and very, very busy. La Pineda was a lovely place, much cleaner and a very pleasant place. La Pineda Market worth a visit. Also Waterfront Restaurant in La Pineda and Tapas/Fish Restaurant on corner which also has crazy golf.
Portaventura was brilliant. Try lots of the shows. Buy your tickets in UK beforehand as they are very expensive to buy in resort.
Went to House of Illusion and this was good night out. Card tricks were amazing. Went to Aquapolis water park which also included a dolphin/sea lion show and this was excellent.
We enjoyed our holiday but would not go back to this hotel. If we wanted to holiday in this area would probably try La Pineda.
