Just back from a 2 week holiday at Med.Village Salou. There was a total of 7 of us, 4 adults and 3 children.

We arrived at the hotel about 10.30am, there was a bit of a wait as we were not allowed in our rooms until 2pm (we would have been more prepared if we had been told before hand). They had a room for us to store our luggage but very busy, everyone opening up the cases to get swimwear etc.)

This hotel is big but very busy at the time when we were there, the first 2 weeks in August.

The rooms were ok a bit cramped for 4 in one room. The balcony was a good size. We had a pool view which was good but a bit loud at night as the entertainment was down next to the pool but on the other hand we could sit and watch the entertainment from the balcony if you wanted. Rooms were cleaned every day by maids but basic cleaning (not much attention paid to under beds or the bathroom).

As for the 2 pools they have, well, they opened at 10am and everyone was standing waiting for beds around 8am. Only time you could get a bed was between 4 and 5 unless you were willing to stand and wait for an hour or so. The pools were very busy with a lot of inflatables, not easy to keep an eye on children.

As for the food, service in restaurant was good, variety of food to choose from. Not that impressed with the actual food (my husband is home with SALMONELLA, so I will say no more).

Cap Salou itself doesn't have much in it. Need to watch traffic not much in the way of pavements especially with a buggy. Local beach was great we also found a small pub that was good.

Must visit the Aquopolis at La Pineda this is great not just for the kids but also the adults, many different water slides and also dolphin show as well. This was only 10min by local bus. Local bus service was really good. We also travelled by boat from the marina at Salou to Cambrils which is very nice, not as busy as Salou so good to walk round the shops and there are a lot of nice cafes to stop off at (they have a market at cambrils on a Wed that is worth going to).

Overall holiday good apart from the food.

We arrived at Reus on the 3rd July, weather was hot and reps and Transport to hotel was fab there was no drop off's so we went straight there, Hotel was brilliant we where in the aparthotel bit which meant there was a bedroom separate with two singles pushed together to make a double bed and 2 singles in the living area as well as a bed which was made to look like a settee, but there was no kettle or fridge in half board, you can hire them.

Air conditioning was good I had to turn it of at night because it got too cold, hotel staff are brilliant they will bend over backwards to help, the food was good but a bit repetitive they have a theme night every Thursday and it is either Spanish or international you get drinks with breakfast but at tea you have to buy them and even though tea is 6.30 till9.30 you sometimes have to queue for a table.

Entertainment is good but it repeats it self the next week, the beach that is nearby is in cove filled with rocks not very good for children but I can recommend La Pinada beach it is a ten minute walk or you can go by bus or taxi it also has the best water park which is called Aquapolis it is 21.50 euros for a adult or 16 euros for a child (under 10) and it also has a fab dolphin show.

The other beach is in Saou this one has shops every where and a McDonalds another thing about the beaches on Saturdays and Sundays they are packed with the locals. Bus prices seemed to vary and taxis are metered and they also tap a number in before you set of buses get packed up to the doorways at times. There not much to do in Cap Salou itself because there are just a few shops and bars. Sun lounger you need to be out at 8.30 as they unlock them at 9 because if you don't they are gone in seconds.

When we where there, there was a bad sickness and diarrhea bug going round. There are 2 pools a paddling pool and a roof top Jacuzzi and loungers but you need a key card to access this the bars have waiter service so you can be lazy staff and children’s entertainment staff where brilliant there was a kids club for children ages 4-8 and other activities for older children and adults going on around the complex.

This hotel/apartment complex in Cap Salou is very attractive. Our 4th floor apartment was somewhat basic but had a nice balcony overlooking the pools. Air-con was essential. The complex is most suited to families with young children-ours are six and five-as there is very little in Cap Salou itself for older kids.

There is a lovely atmosphere about the complex with snack bars and mini-markets onsite.

As far as getting out and about is concerned, avoid Port Aventura theme park if your kids are under 8 years old; height restrictions apply throughout and there are very few rides our two could go on. At about £90 for the four of us, for the day, it was not good value for money. Much better to head to La Pineda to the beautiful beach and the Water Park. It is only 5 minutes by bus or taxi and you can't fail to have a great time. Salou itself is also worth a trip but avoid the beach on a Saturday - it's standing room only!

For evening meals you can eat in the hotel but the food is quite bland. Better to head down to Cap Salou where there are a couple of places that do excellent bar meals, some activities for the kids to enjoy as well.

At night we stayed in the complex and let the kids enjoy the entertainment. Overall, can't really fault the place: it's clean, safe and reasonably quiet. Staff are very helpful.

No Germans here yet! But you still have to queue for sun beds from 8am and they don't get unlocked until 9am then the pool is 10am - a bit of a waste of two hours in the morning when the beach is only 5 minutes walk away.

Hotel very clean and spacious, staff extremely friendly and entertainment staff have to be seen to be believed - 10am til 12.30am then back to work again 9 hrs later and still as fresh as the day before. Brilliant! Having read some reports about food being repetitive - not so, some strange concoctions but well worth a try as they were still tasty. Picky wife and daughter both managed to eat every night. Price of drinks same as you would expect at hotels back home with waiter service for those lazy legs.

If booking trips don’t be talked into them by the reps book them yourself and save a fortune - ticket booth just round corner from hotel. All in all a really great base for your holiday - far enough away from Salou (10 mins bus ride) to keep you sane. Salou beach not worth trying to visit can’t see the sand for bodies. Port Aventura 15 mins bus ride away, quite expensive to eat and very much McDonalds type stuff - be aware that bus prices change after 11pm to whatever the driver wants them to be.

Cap Salou great for families with children pre-teens.

The first plus point is that the Mediterranean Village is only 15 mins by coach from Reus Airport. The apartment was spotless with large balcony overlooking the pool. Lift and stairs available.

The hotel staff could not have been more helpful (lifeguards at poolside extremely professional and alert), and Airtours reps accessible. Lots of space around the pool and still plenty of sun beds available even after 10 a.m.

We were self catering but decided to eat at hotel restaurant one night. Excellent choice (hot & cold buffet - local & English cuisine) and cost = E10 per adult, E5 per child for as much as you can eat.

Cap Salou quiet but some very nice restaurants. Recommend for food: The Paddock. Nightmare experience: Smugglers Inn. Recommend for evening drink: the Crows Nest (outside terrace).

All local attractions within E10 taxi ride (often cheaper) or E1.60 each on bus.

Aquapolis Water Park (2nd largest in Spain) is 5 mins by taxi and is the best I have ever been to in my life (kids agree). You need money to hire the sun beds (E6 each).

To conclude - a most enjoyable stay and I would like to return. I felt that if I had any problems somebody would gladly sort them out.

Just back from my holiday 3 days ago. I went with my mum dad n my 2 sisters. We traveled my air tours. We flew to Reus, it is a very small airport. Weather was great. Very hot. A lot of people burnt.

The hotel was brilliant. There is 3 swimming pools n a baby pool. on the roof of one of the apartment blocks there is 2 Jacuzzis, there are 2 tubs. There is also a supermarket. There is also a gym. There are computers which are quite dear because it is €1 for 10 minutes. There is a restaurant, I went to it on the very last day for breakfast and it was very nice but apparently the dinners aren't very nice. I heard they don’t cook the food properly.

I think this is a brilliant place to go for all ages. People around 5-17 years old can make loads of friend. There are loads of children. Very good.

Most nights we went to cap Salou because Salou was very bad and just filled with shops. Cap Salou has bars, restaurants, trampolines, bungee-jumps, arcade, karaoke, 2 shops and a super Mercado :P. the tap is a bar and a restaurant and it is delicious. And the paddock is nice but there is not a big choice. Curry is the nicest I have ever tasted without a doubt.

Port Aventura was brilliant. My mum and dad bought us a 3 day pass but you have to use it 3 days in a row which is very hard to do because it is very tiring! We wanted to get a 14 day pass instead because then you can go what ever days you want and you don’t have to go everyday. We were not able to buy these because they only sell them on the internet. People my dad talked to bought the 14 day pass and it seems a lot better. It is 30 something euros per person and it is only 40 something euros per person for a 14 day pass. Stay and watch the fire work display at the end of the night, 12 o’clock. It is actually really good.

With the three day pass you have to go to the theme park one day, then the water park the next day and then back to the water park the next day. I was only able to go to the theme park once and the water park because I got sick on my 10th day staying at the hotel. I got cramps in my tummy. I couldn’t stand up because when I did it made my tummy worse. On my second last day everyone found out that more than 50 people had it. The hotel said it was either the pool or the air conditioning. The Port Aventura water park apparently isn't as good as another water park in la pineda (near Salou).

The entertainment reps were brilliant. Very friendly n funny. The entertainment at night was good for children younger than 11 or 12. But the karaoke night n the aerobics night was very good for all ages! At the night time there is a crepe stall n it is delicious.

H10 Mediterranean village definitely looks like the nicest hotel in Salou. No competition.

The beaches are B-E-A-utiful!

If you want a sun bed in the morning you have to get up at 8.15 to get one. This is a bit stupid but worth it.

H10 Mediterranean village was brilliant and I want to go back next year! even though I got sick I would still go back. And if you are going there don’t go half board, go self catering. The people are brilliant and so are the staff. Oh yea it is very clean n the cleaners are brilliant.

Go to H10 Mediterranean village it is brilliant!

Hey just back from a good holiday in the H10 Mediterranean Village in Cap Salou. There were a total of 4 of us on this holiday 3 adults and a 2 year old. Our flight was very good and was 2hrs 15mins and ran very smoothly.

The weather when we first got off the plane was very hot. We flew to Reus and had no problems at all. When we arrived at the hotel there is a bit off a wait as the queue is long to get checked in. On check in you are given your room key which only consists of 1 card key. You are also given the option of hiring the fridge in the room (this is not a fridge its a small cool box), as we stayed for 14 nights there we had to pay 42 euros for this, this works out at about 3 euros a night, but it is worth it to keep your drinks etc cool as it does get really hot!

Our room was on the 3rd floor number 311, it was small with 4 beds (the couch set up as a bed, another fold up bed and 2 standard hotel beds). There is no locks in the bathroom probably a good thing as little children can’t lock themselves in them. There is air conditioning which was a god send believe me. Our balcony was very spacious but the view wasn’t very good, it was overlooking some residential back gardens with a noisy cockerel as a pet, but I have to say you got used to it. Food in the hotel is of good quality but tended to get a bit repetitive (good children’s food).

Overall the hotel was very nice, pools very good (with lifeguards) but not a lot of room in them due to inflatables. If you want a sun bed you need to get up early at usually about 8.15am and wait for about 45 minutes to get a good spot by the pool with good sun beds and an umbrella.

Trips

There was lots to do on our holiday, but a word of warning, if you are planning to do things on your holiday, your better doing them yourself and not through your holiday rep as it is quite expensive! We got around in taxis and buses which are all fairly priced. We went into Salou where you can shop till you drop! Alcohol and Cigarettes are so cheap its unbelievable! Port Aventura is such a great place to go!! there are things to do for adults and children alike.

But if you go at night be sure you leave early as the buses etc back to your hotels get full up pretty fast! We also took a bus into Reus where there are more expensive shops (i have to say, not a place for small children). Our holiday to Cap Salou was great and we're thinking of booking next year too!

Family of two adults and one child (5), nice hotel, nice staff and really enthusiastic entertainment team, but not the best place that I have ever stayed.

Clean and well looked after surroundings but I thought they could of changed our towels and bed linen more regularly as twice a week in a hot country is not enough for me, it also has a four star rating.

Sunbeds are chained until 9am but people are hanging around the pool in 'their' spot from 8am onwards so unfortunately we couldn’t beat them therefore had to join them!

Food in Smugglers is absolutely fab, the chicken kebab is a must have and then dime bar cake for dessert! the staff are very nice but be prepared to wait as there is always a queue for tables.

Salou nice but very busy so its nice to be a bit out of the way and the buses are very good as are the taxis and only 7 euro.

Wouldn’t put anyone off going but wouldn’t necessarily go back again. Too many places to see and visit in the world!

Not long back from our holiday. Stayed at the H10 Med. Village. It was so good we recommended it to the in-laws, who are away this week. This was the first time i was away, but the other half has been to Spain before and was very impressed. We stayed self catering with 3 children - 2 under 3! And a babysitter - We needn't have bothered with the sitter as we spent every night at the hotel.

There's a nice Spanish pub at the bottom of the hill for a quiet game of pool and nice food. The breakfast at the hotel wasn't that nice as the sausages were a bit weird and the bacon was odd. The English hotel up the hill does a lovely full English quite cheap. This is where you can get your hair braided as well although it gets painful when you have it in a couple of days. The supermarket there is cheaper as well. The evening buffet was nice however, as there was something for everyone.

I would recommend going on trips with Plana - the Spanish bus company, as they charged €10 per person less than the reps for a trip to Barcelona. We used them most days for trips to La Pineda and Salou town. Would also recommend Cambrils for a trip on the glass bottomed catamaran. For bus times look out for red poles in the middle of the pavement, they are the bus stops. Go out the front door past reception, turn left and at the end of the drive turn left and go to the top of the hill.

There is a small red booth that sells tickets for the buses and you can get a timetable. You can walk to La Pineda from here, we did it one day when feeling energetic, takes about 20 mins. Don't miss La Pineda for Aquapolis, great day out for all the family - dolphin show and waterslides. Great pool for toddlers and smaller children as well. Recommend going early to fit it all in.

Definitely would recommend Mediterranean village, clean and tidy, lots to do, it was first class and I can't wait to go again. Don't miss the Celtic Bar - its open till 2. Barman was a wee pet, name is Jose Mourinho same as the football boss!

Best holiday ever!

What can I say? I haven’t been abroad in the last 4 years and was kind of anxious when i booked a holiday with my sister, her partner and 3 kids but all my anxiety was washed away when we arrived at our hotel.

We arrived at night time and were lucky enough to catch the end of the entertainment. Straight away the kids began to mingle and enjoy themselves. We quickly headed to our rooms to drop off our bags and go and have a relaxing drink.

We could not fault our room, although there was 6 of us it was very spacious and bright (during the day).

The hotel staff were very friendly and always asked where one of our party was (if they were missing that night) which made us feel special.

We did not have to leave the hotel at night as the entertainment was fantastic. It started off with the daisy club (for toddlers) and then progressed to adults entertainment. José and his staff work very, very hard and are always around after the show to mingle with the guests. They provide a variety of shows and often take the kids to watch movies to let the adults enjoy the entertainment in peace.

I can definitely say that this has been my best holiday so far and will definitely book again in the future.

If you have children you will love this hotel.

This is a lovely, clean, well kept, tidy hotel and would definitely stay there again. The entertainment is great and if you have kids it is just right the entertainment team are brilliant and the one thing is they don’t get enough praise.

The staff also have good English too and that helps a lot. The buffet is a great selection so if you’re not pleased you must be very hard to please. the food is of the best of quality and the show cooking is really good. I am very likely to return to this hotel in the near future.

I would really like to be an entertainer there when I am out of school, it was really nice to see them all getting on and doing their job while having fun it is just amazing how they do it. They are always on the go I would love to have their job! But over all I would have nothing bad at all to say about this hotel.

This hotel is one of the best we have stayed in it was really clean and the staff were really nice. The kids club was good my 4 yr old loved the dancing and the entertainment was through out the day and night I joined in regular and I never join in normally.

The food was nice apart from the sausages looked a bit under done and the choice is really good for breakfast. Salou was nice and clean but thought the shops were quite dear. Be warned about some of the bars we went in one and there was no price on the menu so we ordered a coke, a pint of lager and a children’s milkshake it come to 12 euros we nearly choked when we found out that the children’s drink was 6 euros.

The drinks were thankfully a lot cheaper back at the hotel I would highly recommend this hotel and would return.

This must have been the worse holiday I have ever had!

I don't know why My Travel have bothered employing reps because they were never there! at the welcome all they were interested in was pushing coach trips and where they go for a night out, there was no mention about kids club, which if we had been told about our children probably would have gone to it. We had no rep on our departure either, which we could have done with as a lot of peoples bags were taken out of the storage room (my mothers for one!) when hotel staff got in touch with the rep on her mobile she wasn't interested! So my mother has had to come home 1 bag less which was full of gifts for people.

The entertainment was ridiculous, I have never seen such a load of rubbish before in my life. As for the area it reminded me of Rhyl/Blackpool with tacky shops selling stuff and filthy t-shirts and towels.

If it hadn't been for the Port Aventura tickets we purchased before we went we would have been catching an earlier flight back after a couple of days.

I can honestly say this is the best hotel I have been to. I went with my son and my friend and her 2 boys and we wanted somewhere we would feel safe in the evenings and that catered for our young children and we had an excellent time.

The entertainment in the evening was very good thanks to Hose and his team and the kids club in the day was very well run by Chloe Beth she was brilliant with the children. The Hotel was very clean and all the staff made you feel very welcome. We only booked the room on a self catering basis but were sorry once we arrived as we ate in the Hotel most Breakfast and Evenings and it was very nice and at a very reasonable price.

All in all I would recommend this holiday to anyone and we liked it that much we have booked again already for October.

What a wonderful holiday-the staff were mostly excellent and the complex was very clean. The food was cheap and cheerful but we managed fine.

The entertainers try their very best and worked their socks off. The room we had with a double sofa bed and twin room was on the small side but the balcony was large with great views. Id recommend this place for people with young kids but with older kids I think you’d struggle to keep them entertained - I would go back and I’ve never stayed at the same place twice.

The 2pm check in is very hard going when you’ve got toddlers who have been on the road since 1.30 the previous morning-this is the only thing that would put me off going again - I have never found more attentive staff although the reception staff could do with some customer training. Lovely holiday and we met loads of people especially Scottish folk who were a fantastic bunch.

The complex needs a cash machine we had to travel to Salou for cash and this surprised me that there wasn’t one on site.
