I stayed H10 Mediterranean Village (Cap Salou) from the 8th - 15th of June 2008 half board, so far its been the best holiday i have ever been on with my wife and three kids. It has great entertainment for the kids ( Day and Night) the kids entertainers are really good with your kids, they entertain your kids from morning till bedtime with a kids disco and party games through out the day. The actual hotel room is spotless and has plenty of room for your kids and luggage, the balcony is spacious and has a high enough wall to stop your kids jumping over. They have good Facilities like a supermarket, laundrette, snackbars and three outdoor pools where we spent most of our time. oh and dont forget internet access. The breakfast and evening meals were very good and to a very high standard. If you want to go into Salou centre the bus stops are outside the hotel, it costs about 1.80 Euro to get there. I could go on all day about it but you would have to go to experience it yourself. The only problem i had was that we arrived there at 11am and couldn't get into our room till 2pm apart from that it was fantastic.

My partner and I fancied a weeks break away and found a relatively good deal for the Med Village. We purposely booked outside of school holidays as we don't have children and therefore don't necessarily want to be surrounded by them. Problem number one - children running up and down the corridors screaming from 6am until midnight, with parents hollering down the corridors after them. Then there's the TV - only one volume level loud or loud so we decided not to turn ours on, we didn't need to we could listen to next doors! Speaking of which, we had pretty quiet neighbours, good job really as we heard every word they spoke - walls like tracing paper! The food in the restaurant was pretty average, certainly not 4 star and it was embarassing to watch fellow brits piling food on their plate like they'd never been fed before. Entertainment in the hotel was very poor. Considering it was school holidays 95% of people there were families with kids aged 4 - 15. Im not a snob but to be honest the majority of the families in the hotel were chav tastic, tatoo's galore with mouths like sewers. I personally would not recommend this hotel to people without children. On a positive the hotel was always clean and some of the staff were helpful.

We Have just returned from med village and would recommend it to anyone with children who is after a fun filled holiday. Rooms were good walls a little on the thin side but you expect that in hotel accomadation , cleanliness was good as were the staff . we went with 4 children 3 teenagers & a 6 year old med village caters for all ages and there is plenty to do Salou itself is only a 5 min bus ride away & you can walk to La Pineda in about 15 mins. we will definetly return.

We came back from what I must call the most stressful holiday I have ever been on. In our party their was 13 of us all family ages from 8 to 57. We had problems before we even went with the move from My Travel to Thomas Cook, and when we did eventually arrive at the hotel they had cocked up the transfer over in regard to names even though I booked the whole holiday they transfered some of it over to my parents name which meant that we had to wait over an hour to get all the rooms sorted and a comprise had to be made in the end as we asked that the rooms be together. The rep was okay slightly rude a one point but in fairness to him he did have 3 people going at him. Once that was sorted we eventually got our rooms around 4pm. The weather wasn't brill but for 3 days the holiday was okay and relaxing, then "light fingers" started, items disappearing from the room, hotel was approached and they didn't help so we approached the same rep again and he did deal with it very well in the end and we were compensated some money for items that had been taken. The food was really dear and to be honest the travel company didn't recommend a holiday that we asked for. The theme park was only part open and the main water park didn't open to after we had left.

The hotel was lovely very clean, most of the staff were very helpful and polite just a few bad eggs in the group. I won't be going again at all and to be honest when my friends have asked I have said that. One place we did find which was lovely, cheap beer and coffee was on the side road next to a shop, like a block of apartments and they are in the bottom bit, they do a lovely coffee, generous portions of alcohol for a very reasonable price, it is on the main walkway from the hotel to salou, you come out of the hotel walk straight down as if you are going to the beach and turn right, once you round the bend look left and you will see the chairs on the street, we first walked passed it but on the second day we really fancied a coffee so we popped in and never stopped going back, we went every day. The owners are lovely and very welcoming..

Most of the food out and about was not that good however Treasure Island round the corner was cheap and excellent.

All in all won't be going again and was very disappointment with a lot of things. The hotel was lovely though shame all the rest of what happened to us spoilt it really. I have never complained or had to speak to a holiday rep so many times before. The reps are helpful and I think one of them it is just his way of dealing with you.

im a member of staff for airtours so decided to go to the med village all i can say is that this is the best hotel i have stayed at in a long time . upon arrival at the hotel you get a welcome pack if you are staying self catering which included milk coffee tea bags biscuits etc

the rooms were very tidy clean and spacious clean towels every day too

the supermarket on site is very expensive so its worth a walk out to find cheaper alternatives

getting into salou was very easy 1.85 euros on the bus or 8 euros in a taxi

the hotel has 2 large pools and 1 indoor which was very nice there is also a sauna

and roof top jaccuzies

all the staff speak very good english

all in all this hotel has a fab location the beach is 5 mins walk slight incline

top marks to all the thomascook holiday reps who were on hand all most every hour of the day

the entertainment was really good for adults and for children

i reccomend you ask for a room facing the playground as the sun sets over the mountains and you have the sun practically all day long

hense to say i would book this hotel again and again thumbs up h10 med

The Room: The room was very nice! We had a family room between me and my partner. There was a mini fridge (that was very hard to open!), a nice bathroom with a shower and bath, a TV (which you need to get the remote from the reception for a 10 euro deposit), a safe, places to put your clothes and a balcony with a rackto hand wet clothes on. Just a note for when you first go into your room... you need to put your key card in the slot on the wall just inside the door! we wern't told this and were wandering why our lights wern't working!

The Staff: The staff at the hotel were very helpful through out our stay. When we first arrived they didn't give us much information though, we had to figure out most things by ourselves. We didn't ask anything from the reps though but im sure they are helpful!

The Entertainment: Me and my partner didn't want to watch the entertainment because we had early mornings most mornings. It was VERY loud and it didn't really sound that good to me! but there is a bar in the room where the entertainment is held! And if you want to get a seat you need to go early!

The Food: At breakfast there was a variety of cooked breakfasts, toast, spreads, fruit and cereals! This was very nice! and there was a wide choice of nice juices and hot drinks too. It was served from 8.30 til about 9 or 10.30 i think! At lunch time you can get a packed lunch but i don't know what that was like because we did our own thing for lunch! At dinner there was a lot of variety, mainly english though so if you want to eat spanish i advise going down to La Pineda down the road! You also have to pay for your drinks at dinner (which aren't cheap!) so take money! If you want to eat out at a nice english restaurant i strongly advise The Smugglers Inn down the road from the hotel in Cap Salou town. The people that work there are english and the starter of authentic spanish garlic bread is free! And the meals are very cheap! To get to it, you go out of the hotel and turn left, walk up to the top of the road and turn right, follow the road down to the left and keep on walking, the road turns to the right, follow this round until you come to The Smugglers Inn!

The Transport: The trip to and from the airport was very easy to understand and the Thomas Cook reps were very helpful both ways! The buses were very easy to use and quite cheap too! there is a booth that you need to get your tickets from. You go out of the hotel, turn to the left (where you will find the main bus stop) and walk to the end of that road, then turn right and you see the booth infront of you! but it this is shut you can get your tickets from the bus!

Days Out: Here are some places that you can get to on the bus that i recomend: Port Aventura (the theme park), Tarragona (if you like looking around old roman colloseums and museums), Rues (if you like art and shopping), Aquapolis (water park in La Pineda) and Salou (mainly shopping). The people from the buses hand out leaflets with trips to Barcelona. I don't recomend the shopping trip because it is a bit too long! But there are trips to the Zoo and Aquarium and then shopping afterwards too!

Over all our holiday was very nice! We got by without speaking any spanish at all!

JUST ARRIVED BACK FROM A 2 WEEK STAY, WASN'T TOO SURE WHAT TOO EXPECT AFTER READING SOME OF THE REVIEWS, BUT MYSELF AND MY FAMILY HAVE COME HOME MORE THAN HAPPY. THE WEATHER WAS NOT UP TOO MUCH, BUT THAT WASN'T TOO BAD, WE HAD SMALL CHILDREN WITH US SO A BREAK IN THE HOT SUNSHINE WAS QUITE NICE, AND WE HAD MORE GOOD DAYS THAN BAD, ANYWAY THE HOTEL WAS GREAT, STAFF VERY PLEASANT, THE 2PM CHECK IN WENT VERY SMOOTHLY, OUR ROOM HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED WHEN WE GOT UP THERE, BUT WHEN I WENT TO RECEPTION THEY OFFERED ME ANOTHER ROOM , BUT IT WOULD NOT OF HAD A POOL VIEW SO WE WAITED TILL THEY CLEANED IT WHICH DID NOT TAKE LONG AS 4 CLEANERS ARRIVED STRAIGHT AWAY.THE ROOM WAS LOVELY, PLENTY BIG ENOUGH, FOR 5 OF US. TRAVEL COT WAS GREAT. ENTERTAINMENT IN THE EVENING WAS OK. KIDS LOVED THE DISCO, ADULT FUN STARTED SOON AFTER THAT, WHICH WAS OK TOO. AT THE END OF THE DAY IT WAS FREE. OUR REPS MET OUR NEEDS, WE HAD A PROBLEM WITH NOISY NEIGHBERS ONE NIGHT BUT AFTER A QUIET WORD IT DIDNT HAPPEN AGAIN. THERE WERE QUITE A FEW TEENAGERS AROUND AT NIGHT TIME BUT THEY DIDNT REALLY CAUSE MY PARTY ANY PROBLEMS. THE POOLS WERE GREAT, AND THE SUN BED SITUATION WAS NOT AS BAD AS WE EXPECTED. HOPE THIS HELPS. ONLY P.S I WOULD LEAVE IS THE EURO!!!!!!!!!! ITS DIRE. NOT A CHEAP HOLIDAY.

I went to the Med Village along with my husband and 2 kids aged 6 and 4. We enjoyed our time there. We found the Thomas Cook Reps very helpful and the staff were friendly. Things to be aware of: bring an iron. To hire one from reception costs €14 and is non refundable when you hand it back. The kettle in the apartment is an ordinary one so if you want the speed of an electric kettle, yes its €10 and non refundable. The on site supermarket is expensive e.g. Pringles €3.10.

Lunch is very expensive. A burger with onions and a 7-Up cost about €6 approx. The buffet every evening is good though. It cost €39 for the 4 of us to dine there which was reasonable enough as you could eat as much as you liked. Also there was a children's section which was good. Drinks are extra.

The kids went a few times to the kids club and they enjoyed it. They also enjoyed the entertainment every night in the hotel. I thought it was good enough every second night when they got professional entertainers in. The entertainment team's efforts were dire, they dressed up and mimed on the alternative nights.

Our apartment was cleaned every day. The towels were only changed once though in the 7 days. Also it would have been better if there had been kids channels on the tv. Unfortunately they just had bbc world news, cnn and mtv. The rest were all Spanish channels.

As others have said, the walls and ceilings are definitely paper like. Every sound from neighbouring apartments can be heard. TV's do not come with a remote control unless you hire one for the week which costs €10, but this IS refundable! We wished some of our neighbours had paid this as the TV volume is set very high and there are no volume controls on the TV itself.

There is a bus service available just outside the hotel, but the fare depends on the mood of the driver. We were charged €2.60 the 1st day we went to Salou as only 2 adult fares were charged, the next time it cost €7.80!!

Make sure you head up to the resort centre, there is very reasonable restaurant, i think it is simply called Cafe Cap Salou, where you got great meals especially the pizzas.

I was quite worried about staying here after reading up on the reveiws, but it wasn't the horror I was execting. Im going to be as honest as I can so that you know exactly what you can expect; The hotel is nice & the pool area is very pretty, but there is no way this is a 4 star hotel. I stayed half board - bedrooms v small - but the food was great. No remote control in your room & the volume is set extremely high and no "welcome" book giving meal times/number on your phone for reception etc..However, breakfast was of a very high standard (evening meal not quite as good, bit hit & miss, but you could still always find something you liked). Entertainment for young children till 9.30, adults doesnt start till 10pm which we found a bit too late as your bored by then. Shows either v good (the boy band/legends group are great & the Bejing acrobats are a must see - absolutely olympic standard!) or embarrassing - but thats ok as long as you see it for what it is - a bit of fun - dont expect too much. The major problem for me was the people staying here - not the hotel - talk about "chav city", it was all large groups of families in matching football tops etc..shouting at the tops of their voices, leaving pop bottles, crisp packets etc..all over the pool area dispite there being bins evrywhere. Unsupervised children running up & down corridors (they were even playing football down mine one day), playing in the lifts (they broke down 3 times while I was there). My borther & his partner nearly had to call reception twice due to the regular "domestic" in the room next to them. My 9 year old son was terrified on our last night when we were woken at 2am by a fisherwife & her children (ranging from toddlers to teenagers) running up & down the corridor "F"ing & screaming. The poor man who popped his head out of his room to politely ask them to keep the noise down got a tirade of filthy abuse & my son just sat there in bed looking at me in total amazement. The things I heard & saw guests do made me ashamed to be British & I can honestly say that I will never again stay in a hotel that has 100% British occupancy. Now...re the trips..If you are going to miss breakfast or your evening meal, tell reception by 7pm the day before that you want a picnic box with sandwiches & you can have that free of charge..the ZOO in Barcelona is absolutely amazing & I highly recommend you go there, they had every animal you can think of (panthers, white rhino, brown bears, monkeys, zebra, elephants etc..). Barcelona is wonderfull, go down Les Rambles - an artist drew characatures of us for only 5 euros a piece (£4) & they were really good. Porteventura is v good but seen one amusement park seen them all! The waterpark is great for the dolphin show (although the real stars were the seals, who you can have your pitcure taken with afterwards), but give the actual rides/slides a miss - we went on the day it re opened & saw a man come out of a shoute with his collar bone sticking out & then heard about a guy someone else in our party saw who's upper arm was sliced open when he hit the side of another shoute/slide (which was used by children). Later when I was chatting to a women in a Q who had tripped & fallen, she told me the "accident sheet" she had been asked to sign was as long as her arm. La pineda has a fab beach with shops - 20 min walk or get the bus (great bus service outside the hotel) but the best bet is to turn left in front of the Knights Inn (which is at the bottom of the road as you leave the hotel but not worth a visit!) & follow the road round to "the village" which has a lovely beach & rides/trampalines for young children, shops & places to eat/drink. Went to the evening trip to the majic show in Salou one night & couldnt believe the dive it was held in - i wasnt expecting that at all. However, the actual show was v good & you got fed (chicken & chips with salad & was v nice - could have eaten more though), with wine/beer/soft drinks included so, once I got over the initial shock of the venue, that turned out to be a really good night/good value. All in all had an ok hol - wasnt the hotels fault or the fact it rained for about 6 out of 14 days - which didnt help - more the scummy guests (obviously not everyone was like that & I met lots of "normal" people who were lovely, but its the trash you remember unfortunately).

We have stayed at the Med Village for 4 consecutive years and have always found the comments on here a little uncomplimentary and unfair. However.....we have just returned from a fortnights holiday in which we had 8 days rain (which didnt help!) and everythingthat could go wrong..did! The Rep was the rudest person i have ever met, our case didnt arrive firstly until late the day following arrival and our room was situated over a pub which opened till 3.00am - the noise was unbelievable and when we mentioned to the Rep he couldn see the problem, after all it was just a bit of noise and it wasnt as if the people were smashing the place up!! Dont be fooled into getting any better treatment by joining the H10 group as apart from a complimentary cocktail thats your lot. The food however is amazing, yet one night when the queue (due to the rain) for the restaurant was a 45 min wait we asked at Reception for the telephone number for the local pub to see if they could accommodate us (as we had to arrange taxis as weather so bad) the gentleman refused to provide telephone number and said it was best we ate at the hotel. I asked for the operators number so I could find out myself and he refused to provide it. The entertainment was dire and even worse for the children. My 8 year old daughter summed it up quite nicely (phrase picked up from TV) ..it was as stinky as a dead fish on a city bus!! what more can i say?

Decided to go for it regardless of varied web posts on H10 Med Village in Cap Salou. Haven't been on this kind of Spain package tour sin' I were a young 'un, and so family hol in sunny Spain with wife and two daughters (17 and 10 yrs) it was, with Thomas Cook.

1am start to get to Manc airport with family for 5.15am flight isn't always the best start to a holiday (and Manc airport is a right pain at the moment with all the renovations, trying to find your way about etc...SORT IT!!!!). Flight all on time, but waiting to get into room at 2pm after 11.30am arrival also a pain - esp for anyone with babies - c'mon hotel, wake up, get real, let's have facilities!!!

The room was fine, clean, fresh, good cleaners, all hotel staff helpful and friendly. Top mention for reps Steve and Dean, always around with info and advice for us and kids, good guys 4 sure.Top mention too to Animation entertainment team (esp Sebastian, moonwalker supreme!) They were very nice and great with the kids, OK so everyone doesn't want to be asked to join in the games at 3pm every day, whatever, but they've gotta ask, that's their job!

Other points? Pretty expensive around that area esp with a family coz you're a 'captive audience', don't rip us off ALL the time are you listening so-called 'Supermercados' (if you buy your young 'un an inflatable rubber ring, check that the buggers will blow it up too, the really nice 'supermercado' next to the Med Vill charged us 3 euros top inflate a rubber ring bought down the road for instance, it's nice to meet real contempt every so often isn't it?) but we liked the ROUTE 66 restaurant, nice people, nice nosh, nice cove area there to bathe in and sit on the beach, rocks, etc.

Some of the interesting trips out didn't happen due to lack of numbers signing up, but we got the catamaran trip from Cambrills which was really nice - I didn't dive in the sea, still pretty damn chilly in late April...! Very relaxing tho', liked it.

What else? The hotel top pool was always chilly, the kids and I went in as often as poss but woooo...nice to sit around tho. The indoor pool was f...lipping freezing, why?? we all thought, tho steam room and sauna lovely.

And FOR PETE'S SAKE, give us some more TV channels in English in the rooms!!! If you've got kids (esp babies) you can't go out EVERY night, the kids have to go to bed if they're tired, and watching 15 channels of Spanish progs (noooo) or CNN (not more USA presidential campaign analysis, surely...) or BBC World News (Yawnnnnn) just don't do it for me. Or the kids presenting the only shows on MTV..bottled water has more charisma than these so-called self-loving puerile inanities of presenters - awww gaaawsssshhhh etc.... Just pipe Sky into the rooms FFS, we'd all be happy then, the sat dishes are all there on the roof after all, but maybe we wouldn't be spending money in the bar then, mmmm?

Still, all in all a really good family holiday at a nice clean hotel, and a long way from the bad package hotel horror stories. I'd go back with my family anytime, maybe we'd do half board this time to stop the continuous cash haemorrhage is all....

i have just got back from what was the best holiday i've had in allmy 23 years of travelling.

my only glitch in the two week stay i was there was that i had to wait till two to get into our rooms, but you hae to remember the cleaners bless them have got so many rooms to clean. when we got in it was a breath of fresh air the room was fantastic, my husband slipped while getting out of the pooland the hotel staff could not do enough to help no serios injurys just a slight bang on the chin but te way the dealt with it was excellent.

maids great in every sngle da cleaning and reception alwas there if you needed them.

this was our first holiday with thomas cook for nearly two years ad i have to say that the representatives we had dean ad steven made us having the perfect holiday, two of the best reps we have ever had in all our years of travelling. they cant do anything abut the wait for the roo its unfortunate but they went above and beyond to ensure we had an excellent time aswell as alll the other customers. thank them.

allready booked to go back here in july counting down the days, you would b sill y to miss out on this hotel.
