Just returned from 2 weeks at Med Village, Cap Salou. Was family holiday myself, my husband and our daughter aged 10. First of all this hotel should be rated 3* and not 4*. The food is nowhere near as good as other 4* hotels we have stayed in in Spain. My daughter is vegetarian and the vegetarian options on offer left a lot to be desired e.g. one night pea puree! Chips at breakfast time, no yogurt of any kind at breakfast. Meals also became repetitive. Surely there is other fish than hake? You have to pay for all drinks with dinner and I think water and soft drinks should be included with dinner free of charge.

Rooms were ok. Could have possibly done with little more storage. However, the maids came in every day and you could have clean towels every day if you wanted them. Staff were polite although perhaps some could smile more expecially in restaurant.

Walls between rooms were paper thin. There was lot of noise at night. We could hear man in next room snoring.

Top pool was a nightmare as there was not an inch of space between the sunbeds. The bottom pool was better. Sunbeds were reserved but we did find that if you went down to the pool about 9.00 a.m. and put your towel on a sunbed like everyone else did it was ok. After this time it was not a case of there not being any sunbeds but more that there was no space available for them. Pool area was clean and never felt pool was crowded.

Have roof top jacuzzi and we tried this. It was very quiet with brilliant view. Children allowed if supervised by an adult.

The entertainment was very poor. The professional act turned out to be the same group of lads with a different name on 2 nights. The entertainment reps put on other "shows" but quite honestly watching people dance and mime (and badly) to music is not entertainment - it was an insult. We found that after suffering this we went down into Cap Salou most nights. We can recommend Micky's Bar. Drinks at the hotel were also far too expensive and were cheaper in the other bars in the resort.

Salou itself was 5 minutes away by bus as was La Pineda. Salou was dirty and very, very busy. La Pineda was a lovely place, much cleaner and a very pleasant place. La Pineda Market worth a visit. Also Waterfront Restaurant in La Pineda and Tapas/Fish Restaurant on corner which also has crazy golf.

Portaventura was brilliant. Try lots of the shows. Buy your tickets in UK beforehand as they are very expensive to buy in resort.

Went to House of Illusion and this was good night out. Card tricks were amazing. Went to Aquapolis water park which also included a dolphin/sea lion show and this was excellent.

We enjoyed our holiday but would not go back to this hotel. If we wanted to holiday in this area would probably try La Pineda.

We found the entertainment was great for younger children but not enough for 12 years and up. Definately not enough room around pool area for the amount of sunbeds which made it quite difficult for kids to get to pool safely. On arrival at hotel it was about midnight therefore most people just wanted to get to their rooms. We were told there was a cold meal available but no one took it due to get kids into rooms with it being late. on our departure we were not collected until 9pm therefore we expected dinner,... that was not the case,we were told we would have to pay. I felt this left a "bitter taste" re the hotel as it was buffet meals and we had paid for 7 nights and 7 dinners!!

First of all I must say that having read reviews on here before our holiday, we were somewhat nervous but determined none the less to enjoy our holiday. So on arriving at the hotel we were extremely pleased with the surroundings and condition of the hotel itself and the room we were given. Having seen some of the other hotels in the area and on our way to Cap Salou, it's clear it is one of the best there. The hotel is only 25 minutes on the coach from the airport and the whole journey was event free and, as I was travelling with my family who have never been abroad before, was a great relief.

The hotel staff are extremely helpful and polite and the few occassions we had need to speak to them or ask them for advice, were willing to do so with a smile on their face.

What a lot of people need to remember is how to say please and thank you, I cringed every time I saw a red faced Brit demanding something in an agressive manner. We only had one problem and that was our safe locking up, there was someone up in 5 minutes to sort that out. Politeness costs nothing and in fact, will help you in the long run. We were able to spend longer at the bar because of the fact we were willing to engage the bar staff in conversation and have a laugh.

The pools were fantastic, the kids flitted between both of them and they are both supervised by life guards so you can relax on your sun lounger. Which brings me to my next point. How sad do you have to be to get up at 7am whilst on holiday to stand for 2 hours in one spot with your towel on the floor waiting for a sun lounger?? I couldn't stop laughing at these people. We laid in till 10 then had breakfast, went down to the pool for about 11 and always found one, or were offered one by someone who had reserved too many. Please don't feel that you have to get up early to get one. The sun moves around in the sky and it isn't always sunny in one spot all day!!

The restaurant next to the pool was fantastic, we ate there most lunchtimes, had a nice little meal/snack and went back to the pool. The staff are pleasant and its a nice way to relax and keep out of the heat for an hour or so.

Have a little explore as well, leave the hotel and turn right and follow the road to the beaches. It is a lovely way to walk into Salou as well in the evening, only about 30 minutes. Walk along the beach when you get there, there are plenty of restaurants and it is pretty lively and full of locals. Remember the Spanish eat late so the restaurants fill up after 10pm. The beaches are great too, not too crowded and not too many moaning Brits which is always a bonus!

If you turn left and walk for 30 minutes you arrive in La Pineda which is another great beach and has a strip of restaurants/shops where you can buy touristy stuff and also have a nice meal which doesn't have chips with it. Try some local food, you might like it. Also don't be afraid to speak a bit of spanish, Hola means hello, por favor means please and gracias means thank you. Get a phrase book before you go and practice them, don't be scared of talking to Spanish people! Also by trying out different things you get unexpected surprises, we went into Salou, sat in a nice little restaurant and were treated to the most spectacular firework display I've ever seen, the beach was crowded with hundreds of people but we saw the whole show from our table.

In all the holiday was great, the kids loved it and there was plenty to keep them occupied. We didn't eat in the restaurant as we wanted to get out and about and not be restricted by meal times. Port Aventura is fantastic and well worth going, book your tickets before you go. The entertainment in the hotel is ok for the kids, we didn't spend much time in the bar, but if you enjoy Four Tops tribute bands, dodgy Cheeky girl routines and if your idea of dressing up for the evening is to put on a clean football shirt, then it will be your cup of tea.

We never experienced any problems with rowdy kids, they were up late but seemed to be moved along by the hotel security. Ask for a room facing the pool, it's a lovely way to spend your late nights when the kids are in bed with a beer or a bottle of wine.

The rooms are air conditioned and cleaners will knock every morning to empty the bins or change the towels.

So don't be afraid to go to this hotel, if you have a modicum of intelligence and are able to go with the flow then you will enjoy yourself.

I stayed at the med village for a week at the beginning of August, with my partner and his daughter aged 9. I found this hotel to be very clean and efficient. All members of staff were polite and curtious. Entertainment was always there if you wanted it for the kids although we prefered to do our own thing most of the time although entertainment team tried their best and worked long hours wntertining the kids.

We went half board and would thoroughly reccomend the food at this hotel. There was lways some sort of meat dish, fish dish and pasta dishes as well as a specialily of the dy,i.e paella. also good choice for children, i.e always chips there as well as more adventurous choices. Breakfast had the usual cooked breakfast option as well as cereals and quasoints and cakes but so does everywhere else when you go half board.

Safety deposit boxes were free. tv in room was in spanish but didnt bother us as dont tend to watch the tv on holiday.

The main problem with this hotel ws the amount of young children there i.e. under 12. seemed to be prams everywhere and toddlers running and splashing all over the place. Not a place to go if youve got older children or are a couple, although this is not the hotels fault.

Swimming pools were clean and well maintained with lifeguards. Sunbeds were hard plasticand could have done with matress bit on them yet thats just me being picky.

Have just returned from a weeks holiday in med village. myself my husband and 2 boys (10 and 6.) We all had a great time loved every bit of holiday. My youngest had a ball at the kiddies club and i have to say the staff were fabulous in every way. We made friends with alot of other holidaymakers and everyone seemed very friendly. My only gripe was the size of our hotel room we were on the 4th floor and found our balcony very small and because the wall was solid my wee boy kept trying to pull over a chair to stand on to see over the balcony. It was very frightening....I have already booked again for next year 2 weeks this time. Cant wait............

First of all I dont think slagging of Irish,Scottish, northerners or southerners has got anything to do with this complex, ignorant people are ignorant people no matter what their nationality and i,m sorry to say that there were a few of these people staying at this hotel.

I would love to find a hotel that bans large family parties and so discourages the pack mentality that can spoil a holiday for couples or families like ours that prefers to spend the break together and not palm the kids off to someone else.

The sunbed situation is a pain and even if you did secure a spot under a parasol it didnt stop a family tribe from moving our beds just so the mother of the group could rest in the shade and even when asked to move just ignored the request. On most occasions the sunbeds were so packed together you could not get to the pool or to the bar or use the showers after coming out of the pool. Although there are two large swimming pools as usual there are not enough sun beds for the amount of people staying.

The hotel itself was very clean, the appartments were spacious but the cooking facilities could be better ie provide more utensils, measuring jugs, more cutlery, taller glasses and more cups.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the only time we had a problem(safe locked up)they were quick to help.

I agree with a lot of comments on here that after staying in 4 star hotels in britain and self catering in Britain that the hotel should not be granted a 4 star status, even Travel Lodge give you an electric kettle and a remote control for free.

The location of the hotel is ok. We went to the beach which was a lot quieter and more relaxing than the pool area.If you are wanting to explore the surrounding area though be prepared to spend a bit on bus fares a family of four to Port Aventura and back is 18 euros!

We only tried the food at the hotel a couple of times and that was at the poolside area,it was ok nothing more nothing less.

Salou was a nightmare and I agree with the comment made that all the shops sell the same goods and that finding somewhere decent to eat was a chore.

Cap Salou was a lot quieter we had an excellent Curry in the place with all the amusements outside of it opposite the Smugglers Inn and we had a couple of very good meals in the Smugglers both highly reccomended.

La Pineda was very nice and I wished I had done my homework a bit better and booked a hotel in this resort, the market is well worth a look around.

Port Aventura was fantastic and I again would reccomend that you buy your passes in the UK and be aware that you can get into Costa Carribe for half price if you have the passes.Make your way down early for the fireworks as the crowds seem to start gathering about 10.30- 11 pm but they are well worth seeing.(oh and ride the Furious Baco)

All in all it was an enjoyable holliday and the hotel was more than adequate as a base to explore the area. One thing that would improve this and many other hotels is if people would respect each others space and remember that there are other people at the hotel as well as themselves and not turn a blind eye to the behaviour of their offspring.

Then again Britain would be a nicer place if we all did that as well.

Overall, a brilliant holiday.

I arrived with my 2 children (6,10) and husband at 12pm and knew that we weren't going to get into our room till 2pm which was fine with us.

Found the booze in the bar very cheap - a different view to other reviewers who suggested it was expensive.

The supermarket in the hotel was expensive - but that is obvious with every hotel so we used the Michelangelos down the road which is good value for money.

The weather was perfect and just what we were looking for on holiday and we were able to grab a sunchair most days even when coming down at 11am.

Lots of Irish, but i quite like their accents so it didn't bother me.

Entertainment was excellent - a show on everynight with everyones needs catered for. Definetly worth spending the night.

Spent a few days in Barcelona, Tarragona, and Salou which i recommend everyone tries to visit because it shows a great aspect on spanish life (even if it is quiet in the day).

The trip i most recommend is the Jeep safari. Don't forget to bring water pistols! 10/10. The jeeps take you on dusty roads, dry lakes, and mountainous areas, visiting secluded villages and you can even go swimming.

I will definately be going back again for many years to come.

We arrived at hotel at about 11am ish and we were prepared for the wait to get into our room at 2pm. My husband and son went for a swim to waste some time. I sat at the tables near the pool and absorbed the atmosphere. It didn't take long for me to realise that this hotel is not 4 star as advertised, but more like a 2 star. It was full of children and parents who were self absorbed and loud. Full of Irish and Northerners and I really did feel out of place. I am no snob but I wasnt expecting a 'Butlins' feel holiday. The room was nice, but the plates, cups etc were of poor quality. The room was clean and was cleaned most days by a lovely cleaner. All the staff seemed nice and friendly. My husband had to get up at 8am every morning to get a sunbed, as leaving it any later would've meant losing out and having nowhere to lay in the sun. The swimming pools were nice and clean. The drinks were really expensive, and we didnt have the food so I cant comment on that. We used the supermarket round the corner as this was much cheaper than the onsite one. We ate at The Paddock, down the hill which was lovely, really nice food. The bus services were brilliant and quite cheap and we went to Salou most evenings, as there isnt anything in Cap Salou. Also Cap Salou is quite hilly which wasnt mentioned anywhere in the brochures. Needless to say we will not be returning to The Mediterranean Village hotel or Cap Salou.

We have just come back from one week at H10 Medierranean Village hotel in Cap Salou. We arrived at about 10.30pm and were given a clean, well air conditioned room on the forth floor. They even opened up the buffet so we could have a late supper,so far so good,we went to bed thinking what a nice hotel with friendly staff.Next morning even breakfast was quite nice.We were a couple who were aware it was a 'family hotel' and we have stayed in places like this before and it has never been a problem.I have no problem with children having fun on holiday but why do we English let out children run riot. Also why is it we let teenagers behave like foul mouth abusive yobs with a gang mentality. The hotel management seemed like rabbits caught in a car headlights when it came to dealing with extremly bad behaviour. They either didn't know or want to deal with the problem caused by bad behaviour. The pool was nice but unless you got up at the crack of dawn getting a sunbed was a joke, all you saw was a sea of towels and no-one sitting there. The hotel rules state this is not allowed but once again no-one was willing to enforce this meaning lots of people with and without familys missed out by the pool. The evening buffet was ok for first few days but then just the same food all the time and you are surrounded by badly behaved children again with parents watching on.In Summary the room was nice ,location ok with good transport links ,the staff friendly ,the food average to poor and if you dont want to be surrounded by lots of badly behavied children give this a miss on the other hand if you like to let your children run riot and spoil other peoples holidays it's perfect for you.

I have just spent 2 weeks at the Med Village with my two children, my second stay in 2 years, had a great holiday, and am planning on going back again.

The entertainment is fine for the kids, the animators work long hours and do a great job, the entertainment for adults was good some nights not so good othere, but you'd get that anywhere, I can't believe the things that people find to complain about, this is a hotel for family holidays, so you know before you go that there are going to be kids there!

Food was good, breakfasts lovely, the evening meals were fine, We could always find something that we liked.

The hotel staff were very polite and helpful, nothing was too much bother, rooms were clean and air conditioned, towels changed daily, bathrooms spacious.

The only reason this hotel didn't get a 10 was because of the sunbeds, you had to be down for 8am to get a good spot, in saying that we just ended up chatting to other guests until the beds were unlocked at 9am so the time flew by.

Out of anyone that I spoke to that was the only complaint that many of us had, otherwise a fantastic holiday allover

We visited Portavenyura, but would definately advise people to buy their passes before flying out as its pretty expensive to buy at the park.

Some of the people have said there was some loutish behaviour, I had no problems with that at all, its a family complex and I personally didn't really hear anything after midnight when the entertainment ended.

I am definately planning on going back again.

Just back from Med Village,Cap Salou Sunday 10 Aug 08. Entertainment day and night for kids was great cant fault them.We have 3 kids aged 13,10 and 6 with us, they really enjoyed it including the night time shows after the mini disco.Salou it self not impressed at all just full of shops all selling the same thing, then you had people approaching you with leaflets to come to their establishment to eat (not a chance),it looked so dirty through out.La pineada strip was a nice place to shop and eat.The Hotel it self was very clean and the pool was kept very clean too.I cant comment on the food in the Hotel itself beause we didnt eat in there,i know it was €6.00 for a pint bottle of Magners(Bulmers) and you can buy the same in a supermarket round the corner from the complex for €2.50 which was great! The staff were nice, friendly and helpfull. The only draw back is that if you have a child that cant yet swim and you want your lounger by the pool so you can see them at all times you unfortunatly will have to be up at approx 7am to get your spot which took me a coulpe of days to cop on to so it was in to bed late and up early for 2 weeks when i thought i was going away for a rest(lol). There must have been some German people there as one particular morning my husband looked out and there were towels already out and it was 5.30am and they werent there from the night before as the security would take them up im sure. You wouldnt go here though if you had no kids as the kids are running round till approx 2am thats when the late bar closes..

Apart from those minor things we had a fab holiday and we will definitly go back, just maby they might read some of the reviews on this site to improve because theres always room for improvment..

Just returned from the Meditteranean village after a two week break with my wife and four kids (17,12,7,6). After reading previous reviews prior to going I was confident that this hotel would suit my families needs! we arrived at the hotel about 11.30am so we could not get into our room until 2pm but we knew this prior to arriving, so there was no problem there as we knew what to expect, and people that moan about this on previous reviews should get a grip cause they know what to expect also!! on getting into our rooms thay were found to be very spacious, clean and sleeps three very comfortably (we had two rooms). the bathrooms were clean and roomy. Evening meals were alright for the first couple of nights then they started to get a bit monotonous (fish, veal, ham). The kids buffet was terrible, dont know about other kids, but my kids dont like fish (with the bones still sticking out), veal, salmon & spicy pepper satay sticks, there was no food like hotdogs & burgers on the kids menu, they did have these on site as they sold them at the poolside bar. As for the Dessert if you like jelly, angel delight, cake, jelly, jelly and more jelly then you are all right, but if you are like me and like hot desserts (apple crumble & custard) then forget it as there is no hot desserts at all!! breakfast was much too write home about. Plenty for the kids to do, everything seems to revolve around the kids which is fine, but there also has to to be a point that there is adult time which the entertainment team seem to think is 10-11PM after that it is back to kids songs and dances till twelve then that is it! the evening entertainment is also done by the kids entertainers which to be honest is very poor! also if your are not outside by 7.30-8pm then forget about getting a seat, cause the outdoor area is FAR too small for the amount of guests there is at the hotel, on quite a few occasions we had to take a table from inside to outside just to get a seat and even then there was not enough room. the onsite supermarket is far too expensive, I would recommend going to the nearby michaelangelos supermarket which is a LOT cheaper than the hotel. Prices in the hotel for drinks is really expensive, we took our own drinks into the hotel but when the management realised, we were asked to get our drinks from the bar or leave the seating area. there is an onsite launderette which if you have a lot of items to wash i would forget it. as the clothes are not washed right or nowhere near dry in the tumble drier, which i think at 4 euros each is terrible, the hotel is getting money for nothing basically. last but not least is the dreaded SUNBEDS, if you are not out by 8am you will not get a sunbed as all the towels are on the ground by then, for the amount of guests that are in the hotel there must only be sunbeds for a third of them, if that!! there was always they same group of irish fighting for the same pitch at the pool, who we called the 'SUNBED MAFIA' . if you dont have a problem with the irish then you will be fine as the hotel is about 80% irish, which i do not have a problem with. On a whole the hotel was very clean, the rooms excellent, the maids made the beds and changed the towels every day which was good. the air conditioning in the room was excellent. If it wasnt for the food and the entertainment and sunbed situation this hotel would have got a ten out of ten.
