never again for us
2 / 10
May 2010, judfks

i went last year with my husband and 3 kids
never again will i go
as we were promise the best room
with double doors but our kids were stuck in a bunk bed and a sofa.wasnt worth the price we paid
and the entertainment level at the med village
was awful,talk about bordom
if i was anyone who is going this year
i would stay out of the town at night especially with young children as it is a very chancy place
however the staff couldnt have been any nicer so hats go off to them
hope everyone going this year doesnt get the opinion i did .

Excellent Holiday!!!!!!!

May 2010, great hotel med village cap salou

Hi all! Just got back from 2 fabulous weeks at the Mediterranean Village in Cap Salou, Spain.
this hotel is fantastic. I will give as much info as possible, so here goes the essay!!! lol
Arrived at hotel on 10/05/2010 at 10.30, you have to pay 60 euro deposit for the room, which you get back at the end of your stay, but remember to save your deposit receipt, as some people did not get there money back if they didn't show the receipt!
Couldn't check into room until 2pm, so I would suggest going to the pool and soaking up the rays, but you can get drinks from the bar.
If you have children/young babies there is a baby changing room within the reception area and there is also toilets and changing areas near the sports bar within the hotel, which is next door to the hotels supermarket.
Food in the supermarket is very basic, 5litre bottle of easter is 2 euros 10 cent, bread varies from 1.70 euro to 3.50 euro. but you can get quite good sized french sticks for 90 cents.
Drinks at the bar are not much differnetly priced to buying drinks from the local restaurants about 2 euro for a pint and the same for wine, soft drinks seem to be more expensive 2.20 euros for an orange juice, so if you have young kids buy them drinks fronm the supermarket and take them with you.
The beach is about 5 mins walk away, it is within a cove and can get quite windy, sunbeds cost 4 euros each. There is another small beach which is slightly closer which is accessed by steps, but we didn't go down there.
If you go out of the hotel onto the main road there are bus stops which take you everywhere! if you turn right at the bottom of the hotel and follow the road you will come to the larger beach which is stunning, if you follow this pathway it will also take you directly into Salou, don't follow the signs for Salou as this is the main road into Salou, just keep following this path and you can't go wrong.
There is not much to do in Cap salou and the bars and restaurants are very limited , we ate at mickeys bar but did not rate the food but the ice creams are lush and cost 2 euros. We found it cheaper to go into Salou to eat and you get more choice and better value for money! The supermarkets in Cap Salou are quite expensive, but we found 3 decent supermarkets in Salou which are called the Mercadona and Bonpreu, these 2 are situated in the old town, myself and my daughter got a taxi back with our shopping which cost just over 10 euros. The other supermarket called Dia can be found just as you enter Salou down one of the side roads on the right. A 5 litre bottle of water in Salou can be bought for 1 euro and at Bonpreu we got a 5 litre for 80 cents nearly 2/3 cheaper than the hotel supermarket. You can also find the clothes shop Mango in Salou on a road called Barcelona something which is in the old town.
We managed to get into our room at 1.45pm we were in block B in room 381 which is 2 bedroomed and a really good size we had a fantastic pool view, but could not see the sea only because there was a tree in the way, lol
bedrooms are quite spacious and the apartments are very clean.
There is an onsight laundry which 4 euros for a wash and the same for dryers but it will take 8 euros to do a full dry, but we found that our washing dried quite quickly on the airer on our balcony! You have to buy your tokens for the laundry either at reception or supermarket!
Mini disco starts at 8.45pm which is great for the kids, Hannah, Sean and Lucy entertainment staff are brill, can't remember the names of the other 4.
Reception staff speak very good english and are very helpful, they will call taxis for you, but there is a taxi rank at the bottom of the hotel anyway.
evening entertainment starts at 10pm, and we saw some great shows including queen and Michael Jackson tributes, acrobats , but there was also a very boring magician show which was quite dated!! ie the magic was years old.
The pools are a good size, but the water is freezing, but quite warm once you are in. we found the best spot for the sun was near the kids paddling pool, it is quite shaded if you have babies as there are some palmy trees down there but after midday you also get loads of sun and there is still the shade to put the little ones under!!!
All in all this hotel is great for families, couples, but for older people or anyone who struggles with walking it is quite hilly in the area!

Honeymooners

We stayed at the Mediterranean Village for the 1st week of our honeymoon. The hotel was fantastic, very clean, the hotel staff were fantastic and everything you needed was on site - there is a shop, bars, pool, indoor pool, sauna, jaccuzi's, steam room.
On the roof terrace of the hotel there are 2 jacuzzi's and sunbeds. Its a great place to go and get away to chill out. Perfect for couples and honeymooners.
We usually took the bus everyday to different towns around Cap Salou. The bus service is excellent and there is always a bus information guide to help you if you are confused.
I highly recommend this hotel. We met many people with children and they had nothing but high recommendations for the Kids Club. Everynight we went to the Hotel for entertainment and we witnessed ourselves how well children are catered for. The reps were fantastic.
Cap Salou itself is small but we found great places to eat. We can recommend Route 66, the food and service in here is 1st class and the staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. We also ate in The Smugglers Inn, again the food and service is fantastic.
If your hotel does not have entertainment that suits your needs, alot of people go into salou, take the bus in the evening (its runs to 11pm) and a taxi home is about 6 euros.
As we were on honeymooon we were very happy in Cap Salou and enjoying the relaxing environment.

Just returned home today and want to share my fab holiday with others.
We have just returned from a week at the H10 Mediterranean in CAP SALOU and absolutley loved it. The staff r very helpful, accomodation and facilities r good.
We stayed in an apartment which was well equipped.
The apart hotel is on the local bus route / road train route so if you dont want to walk along the coast into SALOU you can get the bus.
The pool areas r all immaculate and the indoor pool is superb. (you need to wear swim hats - you can buy from reception for 2 Euro's).
My only comment (not criticism) is the indoor play area is open 1 hr at night and i think it should poss open in the morning for under 4's (accomopanied by parents) and in the evening for over 4's as my 2 year old was scared to death by 10 and 11 years olds !!!! so he only watched and couldnt enjoy this facility.
Overall a great holiday and we would recommend to others. x

Myself and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel from 31st Aug to 6th Sept and loved everything about it (almost!)
The hotel itself was lovely and clean and spacious with plenty to do. The rooftop jacuzzis were a life saver (no kids allowed) there was indoor gym, jacuzzi, swimming pool, sauna and steam room. and outdoor there was also 2 very large sized family pools. there were 2 bars (the sports bar and the main bar) and the dining room was very large.
There was plenty for kids to do, with a kids club through the day and an entertainment show at night.
The room itself was adequate giving everything u need for the holiday, the saftey deposit box was free and you had to pay 20 euro to use the chiller in the room. the maid service was excellent and the rooms were always lovely and clean. We had a balcony however that didnt see the sun until it was setting at night which was a shame really
The food in the hotel was a hit or a miss and we ended up eating out a few nights of the week stayed there. the breakfast always had a good variety however who really eats chips first thing in the morning?! the dinner was a selection of meats and fishes however did not always look very appitising. the drinks and food in the hotel if buying separate were really expensive, i would recommend going to the wee shop and buying it yourself from there.
The surrounding area was very very quiet. the main bit of cap salou was the village which had a few bars and resuatrants. the main place people recommended was harrys bar, it was ok if you like the typical english based cheap bar however we preferred to go to smugglers inn which was only a small walk from the hotel and had the best food and xcellent priced drink and the staff were very very friendly.
Overall this was a great holiday and we are going back next year, self catering though as the half board wasnt really worth it when ur a fussy eater.

Hotel was clean only problem we had was we were put on the top floor and we had two infants that would of stood on the ledge of the balcony and would have been straight over the top, so for the whole week the patio doors had to be kept closed unless we were out there. Staff were unable to move us, they had no where else to move us to.
Not alot really going on outside hotel at night, you need to go into Salou which is just like being in Blackpool if you like that type of thing... would not go back again but it was a clean place and lots to do for kids.

i have just come back from a amazing holiday in Cap-Salou. It was brilliant i loved every second of it. if i was to give any advice to people it would be remember to bring sun cream! everyday our routine was, get up, save seats by the pool, get breakfast from the supermarket, eat breakfast on the balcony then go stay by the pool for the whole day until it shuts. The resteruants there are brilliant, i highly recomend The Paddock. delicous food and really friendly staff. my parents are taking me back next year and i'm thrilled :)

listen up people this complex is amazing. It's clean, the staff are friendly and the pools are delightful.definately going back next year with Thomas Cook. This complex is picturesque and very relaxing. The appartment was spacious and clean. breakfast on the balcony was the best part of the day! I love the hotel but was a bit put of by the rule that the pool shuts at 7:00pm i thought it could be open a bit later.
