Decided to go for it regardless of varied web posts on H10 Med Village in Cap Salou. Haven't been on this kind of Spain package tour sin' I were a young 'un, and so family hol in sunny Spain with wife and two daughters (17 and 10 yrs) it was, with Thomas Cook.
1am start to get to Manc airport with family for 5.15am flight isn't always the best start to a holiday (and Manc airport is a right pain at the moment with all the renovations, trying to find your way about etc...SORT IT!!!!). Flight all on time, but waiting to get into room at 2pm after 11.30am arrival also a pain - esp for anyone with babies - c'mon hotel, wake up, get real, let's have facilities!!!
The room was fine, clean, fresh, good cleaners, all hotel staff helpful and friendly. Top mention for reps Steve and Dean, always around with info and advice for us and kids, good guys 4 sure.Top mention too to Animation entertainment team (esp Sebastian, moonwalker supreme!) They were very nice and great with the kids, OK so everyone doesn't want to be asked to join in the games at 3pm every day, whatever, but they've gotta ask, that's their job!
Other points? Pretty expensive around that area esp with a family coz you're a 'captive audience', don't rip us off ALL the time are you listening so-called 'Supermercados' (if you buy your young 'un an inflatable rubber ring, check that the buggers will blow it up too, the really nice 'supermercado' next to the Med Vill charged us 3 euros top inflate a rubber ring bought down the road for instance, it's nice to meet real contempt every so often isn't it?) but we liked the ROUTE 66 restaurant, nice people, nice nosh, nice cove area there to bathe in and sit on the beach, rocks, etc.
Some of the interesting trips out didn't happen due to lack of numbers signing up, but we got the catamaran trip from Cambrills which was really nice - I didn't dive in the sea, still pretty damn chilly in late April...! Very relaxing tho', liked it.
What else? The hotel top pool was always chilly, the kids and I went in as often as poss but woooo...nice to sit around tho. The indoor pool was f...lipping freezing, why?? we all thought, tho steam room and sauna lovely.
And FOR PETE'S SAKE, give us some more TV channels in English in the rooms!!! If you've got kids (esp babies) you can't go out EVERY night, the kids have to go to bed if they're tired, and watching 15 channels of Spanish progs (noooo) or CNN (not more USA presidential campaign analysis, surely...) or BBC World News (Yawnnnnn) just don't do it for me. Or the kids presenting the only shows on MTV..bottled water has more charisma than these so-called self-loving puerile inanities of presenters - awww gaaawsssshhhh etc.... Just pipe Sky into the rooms FFS, we'd all be happy then, the sat dishes are all there on the roof after all, but maybe we wouldn't be spending money in the bar then, mmmm?
Still, all in all a really good family holiday at a nice clean hotel, and a long way from the bad package hotel horror stories. I'd go back with my family anytime, maybe we'd do half board this time to stop the continuous cash haemorrhage is all....

i have just got back from what was the best holiday i've had in allmy 23 years of travelling.
my only glitch in the two week stay i was there was that i had to wait till two to get into our rooms, but you hae to remember the cleaners bless them have got so many rooms to clean. when we got in it was a breath of fresh air the room was fantastic, my husband slipped while getting out of the pooland the hotel staff could not do enough to help no serios injurys just a slight bang on the chin but te way the dealt with it was excellent.
maids great in every sngle da cleaning and reception alwas there if you needed them.
this was our first holiday with thomas cook for nearly two years ad i have to say that the representatives we had dean ad steven made us having the perfect holiday, two of the best reps we have ever had in all our years of travelling. they cant do anything abut the wait for the roo its unfortunate but they went above and beyond to ensure we had an excellent time aswell as alll the other customers. thank them.
allready booked to go back here in july counting down the days, you would b sill y to miss out on this hotel.

We have recently returned from our week long holiday at Mediterranean Village. On arrival we had to wait until 2.00 until we could get into our rooms which we found difficult as we hadnt slept the night before because of travelling.
We stayed in self catering appartments which were comfortable and clean. The beds were comfortable and having a safe was reassuring. The chairs around the dining table were very annoying because they scraped so loudly on the tiled floors..We were kept awake by this noise from the floor above.
The staff were very courteous and helpful with very good English and the food in the resteraunt was good ( although if you ordered a take-away breakfast it was horrible)
Our two biggest moans are about the indoor pool area and the entertainment.
The pool was very cold and every time we went there, smelled very badly of a sort of sulpher. One day it was so bad that we went back to reception to complain- we were worried that the smell might be dangerous. There were also no hooks in the showers to hang clothing or towels - a cheap addition which would have made a lot of difference. The sauna and steam rooms though were great!
The entertainment was the biggest disappointment. There is a hyper bunch of people called the Animation team who are loud and over the top as they move around the hotel. They were intrusive, trying to get people to play football etc, as were relaxing by the pool . They played extreemly loud music in both the outdoor and indoor area. But by far the worst thing they did was their ' entertainment' evening. It was supposed to be for adults but was aimed at an average age of 6. The performances were embarrisingly bad, immature and again very loud. Although it was very bad, we stayed for a while to give them the benefit of the doubt but couldnt concentrate too hard as there were five TV screens on at the same time- all showing football!!! We are not interested in football but in both the main bar and the Celtic bar the screens were on all the time.
The area of Cap Salou is not the prettiest place Ive been but it was a good jumping off point to get to the lovely Tarragona and some day trips we made to Barcelona.
All in all we had a good holiday and with a few tweeks the hotel could be much improved.

Well what can i say about this holiday well its the best holiday i ever been on, with everyone enjoying themselves in the evening, the hotel is nice and clean tidy and the staff are very friendly.
The Evening entertainment was out of this world we had such a laugh i am looking forward to going back this year with more members of my family.
If you are looking to be going on holiday and you need to relax then this is the place for you i would like to thank the entertainment team FOR DOING A BRILLENT JOB.

Well, what can i say about this so say 4 star hotel! We arrived home yesterday ( 6th april ). We were lucky enough to have great weather whilst there. The entertainment was awful( not bad if you took kiddies with you ).The season has'nt really started yet so it was a tad quiet. Our apartment was very nice, cleaned everyday. We were on the 2nd floor of block B. We ate at the paddock most days which was lovely.
Don't forget to take a mortgage out when you go to this part of spain as it is the most expensive place i've ever been!! Two rum&cokes cost us 10.40 euros which is dearer than bein at home. In the end we took our own stash down to the bar&we did'nt get caught(lol).Reps were ok,spent more time time with the youngsters rather than the oldies. Having had a moan about this place we met some cracking people ( all you mad irish )which i have to say made our holiday!!!!
We would sadly never go to salou again, give us benidorm anyday

i thought this holiday was the best i had in my life it was absolutely fab the staff was so kind and helpful you didnt get into your rooms till 2pm but that wasnt a problem i went with ma mum dad and brother (i am still only a child myself) the food was really good the first year we went ,but the following year i got food poisoning on the second week and so did my broher and my mum that year we went with my cousins which made the holiday even better. the pool area was really good and clean but the maids werent so nice though. a few times we broke the safe but that wasnt a problem as it was fixed very quickly the entertainment was good at night and finished around 1am the first year there was a game room but the second there wasn't.the sweets from the machine were good and the computers were helpful for talkin to friends on a rainy day In cap salou there wasnt much entertainment but overall it was a fantastic holiday. !!!!! :)

We had a fantastic time. family of 5 with 3 kids aged 10,7 & 4. Arrived at midnight staff very helpful only down side was everywere closed and couldnt get anything to eat, didnt really like the Celtic bar so steered clear of that. Apartments were very clean maid service daily clean towels etc, apartment very basic but I dont cook when on holidays so it suited our needs but if you are intending to cook for a family it would be extremely difficult as very small kitchen area.
safe in room wouln't open on a few occasions but staff sent someone within a few minutes to fix it.
Food reasonable in hotel- breakfast is better than dinner, sunclub next door has good reasonably priced food.
Pool area great we went Sept so not too crowded very clean.
Entertainment staff were excellent and the nightly shows great. Kids only tried the kids club once and were not impressed but that was fine for us as I like to spend our time with them when we are away.
Cap Salou is a very quiet area with little to do in the evenings so we would stay by the pool during until around 3 and head off to Portaventura (dont miss it) in the evening and the queues for the rides are much shorter and its cooler for walking around.
If you want a hectic holiday with lots of nightlife then this place is not for you but if,like us, you go away to spend time with your family and have fun then its well worth a go -

I stayed at this hotel on a half board basis with my partner and my 5 year old son
i would never go again and certainly would not recomend that anyone else stayed here.
The rooms were extremely dirty, there were also a large number of thefts during my stay including my digital camera which was left inside my locked room. The food wasnt fit to feed my dog, it appeared to be leftovers off the day before, it was cold and not much choice. Hotel staff were very unhelpful and unfriendly, the pool was absolutely filthy and on a number of occasions i saw rats running through the area near the pool.
I think i am being generous even giving this place a 2/10. Lots of fights as sunbeds are limited, not a hotel with a nice atmosphere at all.

Hi All, I went here with my family & my friend in 2006 that was my 2nd visit to the Med Village and it jus gets better & better!
The complex is massive, complete with 3 bars, restaurant, jaccuzi on the roof, gym & sauna, entertainment every night!!
The beach is jus 1km away i think, its gorgeous nice blue sea and golden sands exactly what you need.
The resort centre is 2km away its full of bars, restaurants, macdonalds, nightclubs, cocktail bars etc.
The theme & water parks are just a bus journey away if you want to spend a day there you can buy day passes off the reps at the hotel.
The hotel is always really busy, full of families with people of all ages, the reception staff are really helpful aswell and the reps are ace!
If you've booked a holiday here i guarantee you will enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was my second time in Salou but my first time in the Mediterranean Village. I have to say this was my best holiday by far. The Mediterranean Village was outstanding, the staff were so friendly and the entertainment was brilliant. The rooms was spotless and the food was great.
I went with my wife and 1 year old son, my wife loved it and my 1 year old son loved the children's disco they put on every night. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone, what ever age you are.
I enjoyed it so much as soon as I got back I booked it again for August 2008. I told my family about it now there is a party of 12 of us going.
There are buses outside the hotel (which run regular) to take you wherever you want to go. Portaventura is a must see, so is Barcelona. You will have a brilliant time, guarantee....

Great hotel for family groups. We had a great time but weather was poor.Daisy club for children was excellent.Thomas cook reps were very informative.Buffet breakfast was good but not great variety at evening meal.I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay again.
