Didim Beach Resort was a good hotel in general but the quality of food was bad. If you want a family holiday it gets a bit boring after a while so i would advise you to book trips outside the hotel.

Oh Dear!!!
Fawlty Towers without the humour. Unhelpful staff, non- existant management. Food barely edibal. Use the British Cafe on 3rd Beach and a there are a good selection in Altinkum away from the harbour area. Rooms cleaned if you can find a maid, they finish work at about 5pm. Don,t try and change a travellers check at reception they don't do it. Bar and bar staff useless. The Turkish Health & Safety people were there most of the second week making them put up basic warning signs and checking the kitchens etc. You;ve been warned
FANTASTIC HOTEL
Just returned from Hotel Tropicano Didim. Food was amazing, catering for every nationality. Only the Brits whinged about the food, obviously they are not used to this kind of food as was obvious from the physique of a number of them. The good old Brits were also whinging about the strength the alcohol (the beer was 3%, obviously not strong enough for those who prefer to be in a state of inebriation for the duration of the holiday). The cleanliness of the hotel was second to none, staff were cleaning twenty four hours a day. The staff are extremely friendly and would bend over backwards to help. Evening entertainment was plentiful for children, but there is no entertainment apart from the late night disco and the Turkish night for the adults. However, we have been in hotels all over Turkey and nightly adult entertainment is a rarity anywhere. Those seeking burger and beans, super strenght beer and raucous entertainment would probably be better off sticking to Benidorm or Faliraki. Our only complaint was the ignorance displayed by some of our fellow Brits. Some people expect to go to Turkey and find everything as it is in England, thankfully however it is not like that. People complained that this was not a five star hotel, yet none of them had paid five star prices. Two highly satisfied Brits
The most dangerous hotel ever
I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. If you want to be deprived of pre paid beer and spirits, eat monotonous food or contract a contageous desease or sustain a fracture then go here. Entertainment is scarce, the staff are really nice but that is punctuated by the odd arrogant ignoramous prick. It is locally known as Alcatraz. Altinkum is about 2 miles away and is a total rip off. If you stay in the Tropicano you will need to go to town for entertainment, nice food and a decent drink not to mention X Ray and Chemist for ani biotics. Ensure extra funds and good insurance..I did and needed it. Impetigo is rife, Ecoli and salmonela an on going problem. Trips to hospital covered by insurance but extra spends for food and entertainment equated to £700.00 above budget over 2 weeks. General maintenance very slack. GIVE IT A MISS
a boring hotel
we stayed here from 30 may - 14 june 05 hotel looked great, pool was big, not too cold, beach was quiet and secluded. room was spacious and clean. all was good until we went to eat, the food was well presented but awfull, not much of a choice and it was very bland, a lot of the kids struggled to like anything, they did fries but they were hard, they do a kids menu 7.00 - 7.30pm although no one told us we had to find out for ourselves a week later but then it was no different from the main food, some of the hot dishes looked like someone had thrown up they looked that bad. some soups were nice but i wasnt one for fish or yougurt soup, if you fancy some real food then the resterant on the next beach with the yellow canopes do a lovely pizza for 3.95. I soon clicked on about the bottles of water on the tables which were opened, i asumed they had been refiled, get your water from the bar (if you ever get served), the two young lads are always messing and so inexperianced sometimes you feel like serving yourself, i was stood there for 15 minuits once. I was very dissapointed with the entertainment, they have a mini disco at around 9pm which only lasts about 15mins, after that theres nothing until the club opens at 11pm which we couldnt go to as we had a 5 year old, so really theres nothing for familys apart from music tv in the sports bar and one table tennis table which is always unavailable unless you sit and wait for an hour. All the drinks were served in plastic or polystyrine cups you dont even get half pint glassed so your at the bar every 5 mins. The toilets in the bar area absolutly stink and are not cleaned properly. you can play pool in the bar area but it costs 4quid for half an hour and 6 quid for an hour. dont leave your drinks as the waiters take them even if they are full, that well pissed me off. one more thing i hope yor a deep sleeper coz the disco noise at night is horrendous i was woken up numerous amounts through the nite.
Not bad but value for money
We have just returned from two weeks at the Tropicano. Although the official rating is 5 star it is no better than the average worldwide 3 star. The buffet style meals were tasty with good choice. Rooms in the Hotel were of good size and clean with the neccesary air conditioning. All other aspects of the hotel were good except for the bar service and the entertainment which was to put it bluntly abysmal. There was a continuos waiting time for drinks of at least 5 minutes in the bar after evening meals and for beer drinkers in egg cup sized glasses or half plastic cup sized measures. The waiting times were due to the bars beeing understaffed I think that this was a management ploy to cut the cost of ther bar bill. Another disturbing feature of the bars was to see how easily under-age drinkers could get served with alcohol at the ages of 14 to 15 years of age As for the entertainment it was the worst I have ever seen by a completly untalented bunch. the only reason people put up with it was because you are a captive audience whilst waiting for your pre-paid drinks. One redeeming feature of the holiday was the hard working, kind and friendly turkish staff and the fact that the weather was perfect. In conclusion this was a poor standard of All-Inclusive holidays In comparison to other holidays of this kind namely in Mexico and the Bahamas I have taken but there again this was a lot less cost.
party of twenty
The hotel was lovely although very noisy. Some guests dont believe in closing doors it was slam slam slam day and night. Also kids running up and down the landings and playing in the lifts all day. The maids were 5 star your room was left lovely everyday. Shame about the towels, they were that hard they rubbed your skin off. The food,i wont even go there. We ate out it was that bad. The entertainment if thats what you call it was a joke. It was the same thing everynight. Four or five young Turkish lads used to get up and perform like monkeys. Even downstairs they used to dance all over the bar and up on speakers in the nightclub. My daughter used to go into the nightclub and we had to keep spying on her coz shes only a kid and they were serving anyone with vodka. After 1am you have to pay for beers. When we were there a couple of young girls were going to the bar after 1am, getting drinks and using our room numbers for the bill. Luckily we clocked onto them and had it stopped. If we hadnt we would of had a huge bill when we checked out. It was so easy as the bar staff didnt ask to see their key. The little beach there is lovely if you can get on it. Round the pool is lovely too,its spotlessly clean and theres loads of room. Just up the road is aq funfair alright for the kids and very cheap. Also just up the road are loads of good shops. We went to the shops everynight as the entertainment was much better there. All in all we woldnt go there again. If they got rid of the monkeys and put some decent food on it would be an excellent place to stay.
sorry to be british.
mrseff and my husband have just returned after a 2 week brake at the hotel .we have no complants about the hotel, although we did have a few complaints about the british.they were rude loud ignarent, vulger.what more can i say.im think that some of them thought that all inclusive meant that included baby sitting.they allowed there kids to run wild.drink alcahol until they were sick, there is no wonder that the kids are like they are they learn from there parents.the hotel was very nice, well worth the money.you get what you pay for and it was only cheap.the rooms were clean.the maid comes in every day and not only cleans the room but also tidys it.she also left flowers on the bed and made swans with the towels.the food vas good.no bacon and eggs.wich many british moaned about.the staff worked very hard ,although the bar staff were very good at ignoring you.all in all a very good holiday.dont take beach towels as they supply them.and yes i am british.
no problems
Me,my partner and her eleven year old son had no problems at all at this hotel.I heard a lot of complaints from people mainly concerning the food.My opinion on this is that if you want fish fingers and burger king type food keep to spain, yes there is the arguement that the kids aren,t catered for but yet again i apologise for my bluntness,if you don,t think your kids can cope without weetabix, chips and burgers, smiley faces and chicken drumsticks stick to spain. The food at this hotel is of a good standard much of it is cooked fresh in front of you, what more do you want.I would rate this hotel three star plus, the rooms are adequate and clean but can be a little noisy.Entertainment was a little bit iffy to say the least but they tried hard. All the staff work extremly hard and are very pleasent. The pools are a little on the deep side but well maintaned the private beach is a lovely get away from it all haven. To sum up,most people i spoke to had booked this hotel via cheap holiday companies like myself,£1,000 for my party for a week all inclusive,i can honestly say we had a lovely holiday at the didem beach and feel that we got more than value for money. If you are going to the didem beach hotel just remember what you have paid, when you get there have a look round,i think you will be pleasently suprised like we were.......happy travels!
5Star that should be 1 Star
Having just spent a week at the Tropicano Didim Beach, I would advise anyone thinking of going to this hotel 'donot do it' . On arrival we were shown to our room, the carpets in the corridors were stained and dirty, when we opened the door to our room it was just as bad,if not worse, carpets stained, and freyed. no headboard on the bed, cupboeard around the fridge falling to pieces, 4 coat hangers, no bedside tables, and towel that I would be ashamed to put on my Washing line. The balcony overlooked the generator (this started everytime there was a powercut usulay at 5.30 am) it also overlooked the kitchen walkin fridge, and the staff having a smoke break and them glaring at you (and in the case of the kitchen staff still wearing the rubber gloves that they prepared and served the food in) The staff were surley and did not want to serve anyone. next the food this was scattered all over so then when you finaly got all your meal it was cold. The food choice was very poor (stew twice a day everyday) This is the ony holiday that I have said that I wanted to go home 4 hours after I had arrived. I could go on but I shall refain.
Good bargain holiday, not a 5 star
Hi there, me and my husband came back from Tropicano didim hotel this morning. There are so many mixed reviews about this hotel. I'd like to believe that i write about things as they are, so here go's. Its not a 5* hotel. I would probably give it a 4. The hotel has been freshly decorated, but I still feel that some areas could do with a bit more work, or maybe a good clean. Rooms are a little on the small side, beds are a little tired and could do with being replaced. If you are a couple, stress that you want a double bed, or you will end up with 2 singles. Paying a little extra for sea view is worth it. Dont expect to get too much sleep during your stay, as the walls and ceilings seem as though they were built of paper, and let every little sound through, and of course guest love to slam doors no matter what time of day or night!!. The pool is fantastic and deep, the kiddy pool is a little small. The pool area can get very noisey, especially with the animation, but its great fun. The beach is quieter, but rather small, and not as clear as i expected. There is 1 tennis court which is also used for football. The sports Bar has 3 pool tables, 1 table tennis and some arcade machines. There is a hairdressing salon on site, and her prices are quite fair. The bar's at the hotel have your standard local drinks, vodka, gin, brandy, raki, and efes beer. You will need to pay for any other alcoholic drinks, but there isnt a huge range at all. The staff at the hotel are very pleasant and friendly, and will always go out of their way to help and make you happy. The food was great. I really couldnt understand how some people could complain about it. There was always something to suit someone. The only thing i could fault it for is that there wasnt any fruit, strange i know!! All week i could hear guest complaining that there wasnt any bacon or baked beans, well i gave a few of them a piece of my mind. It is a relaxed muslim country, they are on holiday and away from the rif raf of England, of course the food is going to be different. There are many many nationalities that go to this hotle, they try to cater for all in the best way they can. The food was always fresh and plenty, and the desserts are to die for. Best to go down for breakfast during 8-10am, any later and you wont find a thing. Lunch is between 12.30 - 14.30, evening meal 19.30 - 21.30. The hotel is approx 20 mins walk from town. Best to get a dolmus (bus), they pass every 5 mins, and cost 30p each. The Altinkum town & harbour area is great. The bars, the entertainment, the shops, the restaurants, well what can i say, they only way to discribe it is 'fantastic'. The sea in Altinkum town is one of the best i have seen so far, golden sand, and cristle clear sea. (i wish i was there right now!). There is a bazaar on Saturdays, what fun we had, and what bargains we got. If you like designers (fake), you will love turkey, its like landing in paradise, its so cheap and very good quality. If i had to some it all up, i would say that Altinkum / Didim is a great location, as for the hotel, although its not fantastic, nor is it 5*, it is clean and the food is great. For the right price i would go back again. We paid £300 for one week 9th-16th May 05. Hope this gives you a good idea of what its like.
