Went to Didim for the first time in Aug 2011, loved it so much returned again in Oct 2011. The animation team are brilliant and provide great day time activities and great shows in the evening, food isn't amazing but it's acceptable, salads were lovely and fresh bread everyday. The staff are very friendly and hotel was always very clean. Had no complaints and am planning to return again in may 2012. If you venture into the town Romeos bar is a must! Amazing people running it, so friendly and welcoming.

Aug 2011, unhappy giggles

Went August 2010.2 adults 2 teenagers. Dodgy bellies after 2-3 days, Restaurant way too hot as hardly any air conditioning, food not covered properly and went cold. Cold food went warm, The smell made us feel sick, ended up in burger king twice and a local kebab stall twice at the end of a 2 week stay. A child had diarrhea at the pool side and the staff did nothing. Too packed, sunbeds hard to get, a steep climb to and from beach. No advertised pedalos. Drinks restricted even though they were soft drinks. Ice cream only for young children for an hour in the afternoon. Not enough for any age group to do. Staff overworked and a bit rude at times even though we were really nice to them. Charged for an alcoholic drink in the room that was definitely not consumed. (will get hotels to remove in future)reception staff very unhelpful. Turkish visitors rude. Evening bar room very hot and smelly. Music around the pool blaring out all day (so unnecessary and really annoying) Slides only open for a total of 4 hours in the day if your lucky.
However, market fun, local shop keepers pushy but nice. sea lovely, take or buy a snorkel. Rooms lovely and you can have air conditioning but goes off when you are out so will be hot on return. Maids were good but annoyed at charge for drink.
Will never go again and it has put me off Turkey for good. But not tour operators fault.

  • Advice: If you are there get tummy tablets as you will need them. Go on the hilarious buses for an experience.

thought hotel was nice place but rooms were quite small. Thought there could of had a better choice of food same things every day could do alot better in that department, and there is a problem to get a lounger anywere unless your willing to get up at 6:00 am every morn when your there to relax. entertainment at nite could do better nothing much to keep young kids amused which i thought was quite lame.

We went last year for 2 weeks and had a good time, we returned this year even though the food wasn't too good last year because food isn't wot makes a good holiday really. The day we arrived an english lady, who has been employed by the hotel to see why the reviews of guests about the food were so bad, asked us about the food and explained she was there to advise the chefs on some english cuisine, seems like they have taken on board her advice because we found the food to be a 100% better plus now its an ultra inclusive so food and drink are on offer for almost 24 hours a day. My partner is the fussiest person i have ever met and we ate out most days last year but didn't this year.
The pool has also improved its a lot shallower couldn't stand in it last year plus the slide pool has gone from 3 slides to 8 and a smaller slide pool for the little ones.
The maids kept our room immaculate and were very friendly, rooms done every day and free fresh bottles of water for the mini bar.
We only had one complaint and that was the pool was freezing but doesn't seem to bother the kids.
We are booking to go back next year, and we are fussy!

Didim Beach Resort was a good hotel in general but the quality of food was bad. If you want a family holiday it gets a bit boring after a while so i would advise you to book trips outside the hotel.

  • Advice: walk near the beach and explore the suroundings in the evenings.

Tracey and Jude arrived 16 may to hotel to find we were in ellegance, which is the 5* part.room was small but beautiful, we were on 7th floor overlooking garden of sun. the room was spotlessly clean and the maid was lovely.dont listen to the bad reviews the hotel is lovely and the food was fine.lovely salads and rice and pasta.all bbq food was great and if you want bacon and sausage go to spain.the pools were very clean and we saw the pool technicians checking the levels on a regular basis.since last year they have installed new slides, new relax pool overlooking the sea and new eating areas and the hotel has gone ultra allinclusive,22hrs a day wow.we meat some great characters ie. geoff and jean from borough, who were ace.we met up everynight/early morn after our wild rides on the love bus.if you read this geoff/jean u'll know wot i mean! the security guards were very friendly and helped us find our room with no problem, we just called him spiderman.just go to this hotel and have a ball as we do every year. we will be back next may xx

Okay, so where shall I start! We arrived on 27th September for one week, arrived back in England today! Although every tour operator sells the hotel as 5 star rated accomodation, I can fairly say that wherever you go in Turkey, the majority of 5 star rated hotels are more like 3/4 star. This is very fair to say, as in my personal opinion, Turkey hasn't quite caught up on the whole 5 star service, including 5 star food. The food with any all inclusive holiday in Turkey isn't really 5 star. If there are, these hotels are few and far between! To start with, we arrived at 4am last Tuesday Morning, was very busy, as I think this is the main time people arrive, especially if you book a cheaper holiday to Turkey with Lowcost Holidays. On arrival the hotel looked 5 star! The rooms, were great! Lovely decor! wooden florring, marble effect bathrooms! I thought it was nice! Maid's were excellent, came every day of the week, and some days even made things from people, to swans etc from the bed linen!! Very artistic! Clean towels every day too! we were pleased. Please be aware, if you ask for sea view, do not expect a complete sea view!!!! Unless you are facing the pool from your balcony, you will not receive a full sea view, only partly, as the hotel sides see the sea at a distance, if that make sense. Now on to the location: I will say it is very quiet in terms of liveliness for a resort. The hotel itself does have entertainment every night, however, Altinkum in general is quiet, well it was this time of year (september). I can't speak for peak times! The weather was ok too for this time of year. I would suggest maybe june to august though if you are a sun lover!! Although I love the sun, I did get a nice tan for a week here, but not as much as you would have in peak times! Never the less, it was nice! There is one main dolphin shaped pool, nice size, however, mainly cold!!! A tiny baby pool, and another pool to which two slides go into! ... Plenty of sunbeds is all I can say! Had no problems! So now for the al inclusive!!!!!!!!!!!! It isn't quite all inclusive. Ice creams have to be paid for. AI also finishes at 11pm, however, from 10-11pm you are only allowed to get 2 drinks per person. Which is ridiculous. The size cups are insane too!! The amount of spirits the waiters give you isnt measured, so be prepared to get drunk....very quickly! The food - is okay, it's what you pay for really. I would not pay more than 400 for a week ai holiday here though! or 500 for 2 weeks! The food is mainly chiken every day! Although they do lay a good healthy salad spread on every day! Deserts are okay, but aren't great. Also I found out that if a holiday maker leaves a cake and doesn't eat it, the waiters put it back on the tray for anyone to consume, which clearly is't acceptable in my eyes! You can tell that health and safety in general is poor. UK Health and Safety Inspectors would have a field day! The waiters - are quite rude really. There is the odd waiter that is happy to help and smiles at you. But one occasion which me and my boyfriend were discusted at was when we went up to buy an icecream one afternoon. We went up and we couldn't decide what we wanted. He had the freezer open (which could have been closed whilst we decided) and everything I chose wasn't available (any day) so the waiter was gettign more and more agitated. Eventually he says " look come on come on" and huffs and puffs! They forget we have paid for an all inclusive holiday, and we pay for their wages, so should not be spoken to like that! They is a private beach and sunbeds are free and the majority of the time are available! Market day is saturday! The market isn't that cheap at all!!! Compared to the market I went to back in June located in Icemeler near Marmaris in Turkey. Try Dolphin Square! A little cheaper. I got a louis vuitton purse for 10 lira!!! and and Abercrombie & Fitch hoodie for 20 lira!!! The market was asking for 60 lira! See the difference. Everything is cheap as asda price and primark, but clearly isn't. You will not be able to barter them much at all. They tell you where to go!
If you don't have a flight until the evening, you won't be able to have a late-checkout unless you have paid for it in the UK already. We had a flight after midnight and were not alowed to stay in our room after 12 midday! You were able to use the complex still though and the showers etc in the basement where the sauna and turkish baths were. If you touch the mini bar in your room 20 euros will be charged to your room!
AI times:
Breakfast - 7-9 (late breakfast is 10-11)
Lunch - 12.30-2pm
Dinner - 7-9pm
Drinks - untill 11pm
In general though, the holiday was good, it is what you make it. I believe this is a fair opinion of my stay there and a good price too. We paid £385 for 1 week AI. I wouldn't completely cancel this out as an option!
Hope this helps :)

Just got back yesterday,
We had a brilliant time and found the staff lovely and very friendly. We went on kaptan bego boat trip and it was fantastic. The people were lovely and friendly. Also Romeo resteraunt was great. The maids were great and did the covers into a swan shape with our jewelry on which was lovely. The rooms were clean and the hotel was beautiful. Would defeinitly come back again. My daughter made afew friends with the bar staff which was nice. The pancakes on the way to the beach were very tasty. all in all it was a fantastic holiday.
