We booked our holiday a few days in advance and couldn’t find a lot of information on the Savoy via the Internet or brochures at travel agencies. Feeling rather worried we set off for Egypt hoping for the best. It takes about 10 minutes to get from the airport to the hotel. Walking into the lobby of the Savoy diminished our fears. It’s elegant and airy lobby with a huge flower arrangement, marble floors and plenty of places to lounge was only the beginning...
The rooms are large with tile floors and air conditioning. Each room had it’s own balcony or terrace with big comfy chairs and pillows. If I had to think of a complaint...some of the furniture was stained in the room and the cleaner, though very friendly, didn’t seem to clean the bathroom floor often.
The pools and the beach are the main highlight. The top pool has a bar built in where you can swim up and have fresh mango and strawberry juice. It tapers down to about 1.5 meters rather than having walls so you can lay in the pool with the "surf" coming up around you....That pool waterfalls into the next pool down which is slightly deeper and then it waterfalls down to the next pool which is more deep. These fun and friendly bar guys wander around and take your orders for icy cold drinks or snacks while you’re lying in lounge chairs. It’s luxurious and so relaxing...
The hotel has its own coral reef just off of the beach. There’s guy that rents snorkel gear and a dive centre there. They wanted $4 for a mask and $4 for flippers, but we bargained them down every day. You just walk down the jetty, hop into the sea and you’re surrounded by lovely coral and fish.
The restaurants were all nice, especially the Italian Restaurant by the pool where you could sit outside by candlelight and choose from an extensive menu. The other restaurants were more buffet style for breakfast and dinner. It was a good selection and reasonably priced.
We used Sun n Fun travel agency (stand on the beach at hotel). We went to Cairo by minibus for a day, had a Bedouin Night and went to Ras Mohammed National Park with them. Very good service and prices much more reasonable than the foreign companies.
The Savoy is a wonderful place to spend your holiday. It’s a 10-15 minute drive from the main drag and hassle of Naama Bay, which was great for us. I would recommend this place to anyone...
