As a frequent traveller to Egypt, I can say that this has been one of the best holidays I have had.
We arrived at the Savoy fairly late at night, and although there was a slight problem with the adjoining rooms we had requested not being ready, it was quickly put right while we took dinner.
As it turned out en-route to our rooms, we decided to upgrade to the Royal Savoy part of the hotel. This was probably one of the best moves we made; the Royal Savoy has many benefits, one of which was free Internet access (two children and msn...it's a must).
The Royal Savoy also has its own dedicated reception which was always manned by efficient and friendly staff who could not do enough to help you, and we found this attitude mirrored all over the complex.
The facilities we found were second to none, and spotlessly clean.
This is a stunning hotel, well staffed, and extremely spacious. I had read reports prior to leaving about the huge amount of Russians there, why this should be a problem I have no idea, as far as I could see it was a fairly wide mix of nationalities.
There is a platform leading to the sea, and whatever you do take a mask and snorkel as the most fantastic fish live on the reef right at the end of this. While we were there we tried out most of the water sports, and also undertook a weeks diving, choosing the company Oxygene to do this with who are situated in Sharm Telephone: +20 69 3660900. We had superb instruction, and Mohamed our Instructor had the patience of a saint! He also produced a fantastic dvd of our diving experiences.
To sum up in my opinion this is a great hotel for both children and adults, and no doubt it success is due to the personal touch and interest taken by Management and staff.

This was our first time to Sharm, and to be honest, I don’t think I could stay in another hotel.
Upon arrival we was greeted fanatically with free a glass of champagne. Taken to our rooms, which were spotless and huge.
Most of the staff were very friendly, not all... but hey, I didn't go to become friends with the waiters.
The weather was so hot, we went for 2 weeks and I can’t wait to go again, we already booked our October trip and got a free sea-view upgrade. For the money we spent and the quality of hotel the Savoy is, it’s a fantastic deal.

I would definitely not recommend this...

I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sharm.
For our fifth visit to Sharm in 2006 we decided to stay at the Savoy. This hotel is more like a 3* than the 5* rating as advertised. The Savoy certainly does not live up to its reputation.
The staff call this resort little Moscow, I'm sure you can work out why... the staff were also pretty unfriendly as a result of arguing with the Russian guests all the time. 90% of the guests were Russian, the animation team and some events seemed exclusively for Russian speaking guests.
The food was vey poor overall, I have had a better meal in a 3* hotel. There was very poor food choice and unless you want room service it is impossible to have a light snack for lunch. Breakfast was disgusting!
Everything is incredibly overpriced for the standard of food and the serving size. Alcohol is also extremely overpriced and sold in 25ml measures.
The shuttle bus to Naama Bay is impossible to get a place on as there is only one extremely limited service for the whole complex. You are forced to spend allot of money just getting in and out of Naama Bay.
It was also impossible to use the Spa and we were ferried to the adjacent sister hotel that had wonderful spa facilities. There is nothing to do at this hotel except snorkel - the reef is amazing!
We were so miserable at this resort that we packed our bags and went to stay at a hotel in Naama Bay on the waterfront for 6 nights - just to get a break from our break.
What I would say is the Savoy like the wow factor with decorations (esp. at Xmas time) and the presentation of the food for example but the attention to detail is lost.
I was served undercooked chicken at the terrible Xmas Gala. Our room smelt damp and had cracked dirty tiles, ripped rugs etc.

On arrival we were pressurised to...
6 / 10
Nov 2006, Mr D Gilchrist

On arrival we were pressurised to move to the sister hotel Sierra on all-inclusive basis, we refused and 1hour 30 mins later we eventually got our booked room. All the British guests are given the same option.
The Savoy hotel is 3*+ at best, sockets hanging off the wall and toilet basin cracked. Most other nationalities are on All Inclusive and flash their white card to get service; I stood at the beach bar for 15 mins and could not get served.
The restaurant staff are friendly, but the choice of food is limited and the themed nights only change the way the meat is cooked, creamed sauce it is French, spices it is Mexican etc. The lack of snacks meant quite a few guests either had to order room service at lunchtime or get a cab into Naama Bay.
The other restaurants are very expensive for what they offer. At one of the beach restaurants food is left out in the sun on a boat sometimes covered in cling film, sometimes covered in birds feasting?
Get used to being asked what class you are, i.e. All Inclusive you are First Class anything else you are Second Class, this comment comes from staff members. This is definitely not a hotel I would recommend, but I would recommend the area and the diving is excellent.

Just returned from an excellent week...

Nov 2006, Mr R Dunn

Just returned from an excellent week in the Royal Savoy, part of the Savoy 'complex'.
Upon arrival we were offered to move to their sister hotel across the road, Sierra, on an all inclusive basis. Not wishing to take advantage of this we were upgraded to a Royal Savoy Suite. The room was both spacious well equipped and an excellent location within the resort.
With half board you have the option to dine in other more selective restaurants within the hotel with a 25% discount applied to the meal and also local drinks. To be honest I would say the food in the selective restaurants, although very nice, does not warrant the high price tag. Meal for two with wine would cost approx £45 after the 25% discount is applied. The Italian restaurant fares better than the other restaurants.
The meals provided in the main restaurant are of extremely good quality with a vast amount of choice and varied themed nights, oriental, Mexican etc. I would choose to dine here as the price is included in the half board meal basis. The main dining room is very big and a little like a 'canteen' but if you step outside you can dine in more 'intimate' surroundings.
The staff and hotel cleanliness leave nothing to be desired and anyone staying at this hotel will surely enjoy the experience.
Make sure you either take a mask and snorkel or purchase one when you arrive, fantastic coral reef and fish in abundance.
Only one thing I found to be negative and that is the Russian guests. You will know what I mean when you see/hear them giving the staff and everyone around them a hard time.

My friend and I have just returned...

Nov 2006, Miss E Dodd

My friend and I have just returned from a week at the Savoy Hotel in Sharm el Sheikh and have had a wonderful time. The hotel is well designed and immaculately maintained and the staff are attentive and friendly.
We found that 'bed and breakfast' suited us as it gave us the freedom to try the various restaurants in the hotel (although the Italian was very popular and hard to get a table in - despite trying to book in advance!). The European wines are quite expensive, but there are some very good local wines which are much more reasonably priced.
There is a free shuttle bus into Naama Bay (LE10 charge after a certain time at night) but this must be booked in advance as it is very popular! Otherwise a taxi into Naama Bay costs around LE40 - be warned though - some of the drivers think they are Schumacher!
The transfer time from the airport is only 10 minutes and despite it's proximity to the airport - the noise is actually minimal.
I would highly recommend the Savoy as a wonderful place for a peaceful and relaxing break in beautiful surroundings.

I booked the holiday as a surprise...
10 / 10
Sep 2006, Mrs V Driver

I booked the holiday as a surprise anniversary present for my husband and I would say it was the best present I could have given him.
On arrival we were blown away with the beauty of the hotel and it's grounds. We were greeted so warmly by every member of staff. We were shown around the hotel whilst our bags were taken to our rooms. On arrival at our room we were once again so happy as it was spacious, clean and inviting.
We spent 2 glorious weeks relaxing on the beach or snorkeling with the fish ( how amazing ) Everywhere we went on the resort the staff always had a smile and a cheery hello for us, anything you needed they would always be there to help you.
We had plenty of different restaurants to eat in that we tried each one and I can honestly say that the food in each was fantastic, the seafood restaurant is brilliant as you can come off the beach at 7pm and sit there and eat and watch the sun go down.
We used the driver service at the hotel to take us to Naama Bay, old Sharm and other places we chose to go and had the same driver each time, Emad, who was fantastic. He would show us places of interest and even stop so that we could look around (the new mosque on the way to Naama Bay is well worth a look) all at no extra cost.
The pools are beautiful, you have a few to choose from, always immaculate and the grounds are amass with flowers and trees, absolutely stunning.
If you want a hotel that is going to offer you value for money, impeccable service, relaxation, great food and luxury then this is the one.
We loved it that much that the day after we arrived back in England we booked up to go back this Christmas, I'm now counting down the days.

Aug 2006, Mr M Edwards

It's late and I want to go to bed so this review will be short. Only one word to describe the Savoy - fabulous.
Of the five reviews already here I think Mrs Olya must be thinking of the wrong hotel.
Stayed the week before Christmas and it was brilliant - pools, staff, food, amenities, weather, trip from airport, absolutely fabulous.
We will definitely be going again.

Very beautiful beach, spacious and...

May 2006, Mrs Ol Olya

Very beautiful beach, spacious and beautiful rooms, very kind workers, modern gym room, BUT in HALF BOARD, food is very mediocre: every day the same meals, no grilled fishes, meat tough, no fresh orange juice for breakfast. When you ask why?
Staff says you can eat in the paying restaurants which are very good but very expensive!
Internet fee is racket : 8 $ per hour. For diner in half board, no animation (orchestra) during the meal, but you can go to paying restaurants.

Apr 2006, Mrs J Beckles

Fantastic hotel. Restaurants good value for money. Rooms spacious, extra space in the bathroom. Great view of Tiran Island.
Snorkeling a little deep, but you can rent a life jacket, Lifeguards on duty at all times. Well staffed, felt very secure. Gym excellent. Good choice of films and programmes on TV.
Cleaner could have been a bit more attentive, but overall would definitely recommend it.

This is a truly fantastic hotel....

Mar 2006, Ms S Bryant

This is a truly fantastic hotel. Great staff and standards - I have never seen something cleaned so often.
It has a great location just 10 minutes from the airport but you do not hear the planes at all - you are first off the bus from the airport so great.
The food is excellent especially the Italian and the Japanese sections.
The staff are very friendly and do not always expect tips - please do not take English coins as there cannot be used there it is against the law. Please get small value notes in either euros, dollars or Egypt pound.
We will be going back had a great hot holiday with lots of sun.

The Savoy Sharm is the best hotel we...
10 / 10
Nov 2005, Miss E Thornton

The Savoy Sharm is the best hotel we have ever stayed at. It has four different restaurants and its own private beach called White Night Beech. It also has four different pools along with pool bar. The Staff are fantastic and can't do enough for you. We stayed bed and breakfast but next time will go all inclusive as you don't even need to leave the resort. It also has it's own diving centre which is excellent. You can also use there snorkelling equipment. We would highly recommend this hotel and we will be returning again in the near future.
One thing I will have to mention is that on our second to last night we had an invitation put on our bed to a cocktail reception to meet all the management staff. If you get this you should go as we where given free drinks along nibbles and met the Assistant Manager (Ramy) who was very friendly and introduced us to the General Manager (Peter) who took the time to come and sit with us to make sure we where happy with our holiday and if there was any comments on the resort. But all we could say to him was it was fantastic and no problem.
Also for families who want to stay in a villa, I have to mention that they have several villa's with different themes and they showed us the new and latest one The Cleopatra villa which was amazing and well worth staying in if you want to go with large family or lots of friends as it has four bedrooms which are all on suite. You can check out picture's of the hotel on many Egypt sites and am sure you will be impressed. Although we went in November it is still nice and hot but bearable to sun bath in.
Enjoy
Elly & Craig xxx
P.S. Thank you Peter for making our holiday one to be remembered.
