Gresham Hotel

Firstly, don't mistake this hotel with the one in Bloomsbury of the same name.
Other reviews have already summed up the:
- tiny, and i mean tiny, rooms
- thin walls, so neighbours keep you awake
- noisy laminate floors, so footsteps keep you awake
- tube train noise which may also, um...keep you awake
- small, old tv with broken remote and bad reception
- one internal window onto a very public corridor
- kettle which didn't fit under tap to fill it
- lead for the kettle which did not reach the plug socket..unless i put the kettle on the floor to boil it
- only given powdered milk anyway
- oh...and stale biscuits
BUT add to that:
- the bill was triple what it should have been
- they announced they took it all off my card at book in even though i had specifically confirmed they would not
- they said that (despite it being 'check out' time) no one was there who could discuss the dispute with me
- i was told to pop in later that afternoon when the Manager would be back (tricky for travellers to do)
- when i called to speak to the Manager at the time he 'would be in' he was not in
- nor was he in each time i called thereafter.
I would say the place was clean but i came in off the street and asked to see the room before i checked in...so perhaps i was shown one of the clean ones?
Not what you want from a mini-break...
